Was looking to get their catering for a wedding and glad to see they have a ToGo place near me with some items that are on their catering menu. Gave it a try as a 'pre-taste' and liking what I got so far! Got their fried siu mai, chicken feet and honey walnut shrimp. Ordered online and by the time I got there it was ready for pickup. Pickup was easy - parking at the garage will need validation so make sure you bring your ticket and they will validate it for you. Location is in the 28 restaurant so just go through the front door and someone will greet you. Food was very fresh and smelled delicious! I appreciate how they packaged their fried goods - the sides had openings so the food wouldn't get soggy from condensation. Fried siu mai was so good?? I've never had it fried so we were surprised by how much we liked it over the traditional steamed kind. Siu mai was big, juicy and had a nice crisp. The aioli sauce that came with it was really good! Definitely a good combo - 5/5 recommend! Chicken feet - sauce was flavorful but different than dim sum places I've been to. It felt more black bean focused versus that sorta spicy flavor dimsum places have. It was good and a fair portion to share. 4/5 Honey walnut shrimp - my fiance's favorite dish. Located at Twenty Eight restaurant, park in the Google/ Twenty Eight Parking structure.. don't worry about paying as you will get validation at the restaurant EATS: Shu Mai Flight : (2) shu mai, (2) shu mai w. quail egg, (2) shu mai w. lobster, (2) chicken shu mai with house chili oil - this was probably the best dish for us and I liked that we were able to get a taste of the different shu mai that they offered, my favorite was with the quail egg which gave it more richness in each bite Rice Roll with Shrimp Gai Lan-(steamed chinese broccoli) - both these dishes were tasty and traditional dim sum items Turnip Cake - I was a bit let down that the outside was burnt, you can definitely tell in my picture lol Shrimp Chili Noodles- these were flat noodles with house chili oil and shrimp... the noodles were on the dryer side and overcooked, it also came with an old lime and cilantro that looked like it was going bad. The cup of porridge was slightly too salty, but normal for most porridge at Asian restaurants. The turnip cakes was too mushy for my preference, and not a lot of turnip chunks inside. Furiwa is only a to go so delivery of in person pick up is the only option. Dim Sum Sampler (9/10)- shumai, ha gow, and sticky rice were all delicious! Shrimp inside the shumai was plump and everything was flavorful! ($16). Walnut shrimp (8/10)-little too sweet for me and they forgot the walnuts! I was searching for Japanese bentos and somehow came across this dim sum bento. It looked too good to be true, so off I went to secure this item! This is a take out pop-up place that operates out of the Twenty-Eight restaurant bar area off of Jamboree in Irvine. The large Google parking structure is located across the way and they do validate. I had placed my order online and it was ready within the 30 minute timeframe that they quoted. When I first arrived, no one was at the front so I had to say "helllllooo" really loud, and finally someone magically appeared from the back. I would highly recommend that they get a bell if they're not going to be visibly up front, as another customer did the same thing shortly after me. Despite that little hiccup, service was fast and friendly. As mentioned, I ordered the dim sum bento for $16.50, which came with: shu mai, shu mai with quail egg, har gow, chinese chive dumpling, pork belly bun, lo mai gai, pickled vegetables & house chili oil. I also requested a side of Chinese mustard. The dim sum was placed in a perfectly sized bento box. When I brought it home, the dim sum was still warm. I didn't even need to heat it up. I have been here twice and I finally understand it now; Furiwa is basically a ghost kitchen located within another restaurant. Our first visit was during the pandemic so we didn't catch on because we thought the whole place was just to go. 2nd visit confirmed, Furiwa, as in its name, is ONLY to go. You cannot order their food and dine in the restaurant. A bit of a bummer but there is plenty of seating available nearby so it wasn't a problem. We are huge fans of the fried sesame balls! These are delicious. They are basically a sticky mochi ball filled with red bean paste, rolled in sesame seeds, and fried to a light golden brown. These alone are worth a visit! We have had the shumai both times. The first visit they were tender and fresh, absolutely delicious. The 2nd visit they were tougher/thick exterior and a bit too much of a mouthful to enjoy. I think I will just be back for sesame balls. Those are an absolute must! read more

Disclosure....Dim Sum is my favorite food of all time, and it's been so hard to find really good quality dim sum like those I used to eat in Asia, and I had come across this place on Yelp some months ago but never got around to trying it out. We happened to be in the area, and I immediately recalled that this place was nearby, so here we went.....and boy oh boy.....so glad I got to try this place out. Yea, like everybody has mentioned, it's not easy to find....kind of hidden within the office buildings of the Google Center grounds. Then, there's the need to find parking.....you really need to look out for the right parking garage as the others are either reserved for Google or bank employees and visitors. Once you see a small display board by the parking structure's entrance that reads.....Twent Eight Restaurant Parking.....you've found the right place....and have no fear, there's ticket validation at the restaurant. Yes, this restaurant is actually "Twenty Eight," a fine dining steak place by night with fancy, trendy, and cool interior...with bar, dining rooms ranging from sizes to cater to large events to smaller and more private groups....and even with a small outdoor patio. At lunch times, this is a takeout Dim Sum place where you either place your order online and pickup your food later, or you come here, use your phone to scan the QR Code at the front entrance desk, which brings up the menu, place your order there and then, and then wait for your food to come out of the kitchen. Unfortunately, when we came here today, the outdoor the large dining area and outdoor patio was reserved for an event, but we were directed to a few outdoor picnic tables around the corner. So, this being our first time here, we simply ordered our most favorite dim sum dishes......the Chicken Shu Mai (steamed minced chicken dumplings), Vegetable Gow (steamed vegetable dumplings), Har Gow (steamed shrimp dumplings), Turnip Cake (pan fried), Gai Lan (Chinese Broccoli) ....with side of oyster sauce, and House Chili Noodles. Chili sauce, hot mustard, hot chili oil, etc., are all extra....except maybe the chili sauce......oh, I am so glad they offer hot mustard here as all the other dim sum restaurants no longer offer it for some reason. One word pretty much describes all the dim sum we tried here.....WOW! Quite definitely the best dim sum I've tried in California! The dumplings are freshly steamed hot and fresh, with delicious filling and perfect thickness skin, and perfect bite sized portions. The turnip cake was wonderful too, but because it was in a takeaway box, the usually crispy surface had become soft. But the turnip cake itself was perfectly soft, moist, and delicious. And that House Chili Noodles.....outstandingly delicious.....more spicy than I'm usually used to, but daaaaaang, I just couldn't stop eating it! Ok, this place may seem more expensive than the other dim sum places, but it really isn't because the dumplings come in servings of eight vs regular restaurants which serve them in threes or fours. Overall, we were very impressed and happy with the excellent quality and very high standard of dim sum here.....yea, the whole concept is very different than what most of us are used to...and takes getting used to....that is, the missing sit down large round dining table with lazy Susan, being served hot tea with hot water refills, and steaming baskets of dim sum on roller carts coming around to your table, but hey, the quality of the dim sum here is well worth the sacrifice, and is why I'd give this place a solid 5-stars for the food alone. read more

This togo place is hidden in the corporate area, you have to park in the structure and walk in. The togo restaurant is located inside Twenty-Eight. It's a little confusing when you get there but you just walk up and ask a worker for furiwa togo. The people were nice and the service was good. Price wise, I feel it's on the more expensive side. The portions are pretty standard compared to a dim sum restaurant. The food was definitely really good and i would come back here again! The only thing i felt was missing was sauce!!! make sure to ask for sauce before you leave! I ordered the turnip cake and drizzled some sriracha on it when i got home. Dim sum is life. There are quite a few places in Orange county to get good dim sum/dumplings, and Furiwa To-go has definitely entered the conversation on places worth trying. I base my early dim sum reviews (that aren't push cart or old school) by a few criterion. Taste, Texture, and Cost, and in particular, the Siu Mai. See, Furiwa, on a per-cost-per-dumpling, is on the higher side of most places at $1.37, while Tim Ho Wan is at $1.44. For reference Seafood Cove 2 is about $1.19, and my general Siu Mai winner, Crystal Dumpling, is $1.06. There's something to be said about Tim Ho Wan's process and quality, while being smaller, whereas Furiwa, Crystal, and SFC2 are all your traditional larger sized dumpling. But what can I say? Crystal and SFC2 are far for someone who lives in South OC, so unless I'm craving push cart service from China Garden, Furiwa is probably the spot to order from. You can probably eat in the seats outside, as this is to-go only (seems like they share a kitchen with 28) but I've ordered twice via UberEats. Parking is a bit confusing, so situate that when picking up. If UberEats drivers can figure it out, you will be able to as well. Siu mai is decent, pork isn't as flavorful as some places, but it works. The Hargow is also good too. Their "footballs" which I love... (who doesn't love deep fried glutenous balls!?!?!) are always a for sure order. I haven't tried anything else both times, as these are really the only essentials when ordering. Don't be afraid to try anything else (I should take my own advice) If you're on the fence on whether or not to try it, use this review as reassurance, that you should. I will say that I have had a wide range of dim sum places (Capital Dim Sum, Sam Woo, DTF, etc) and this is by far the best all around place when it comes to price, quality, and taste. It's located inside a different restaurant inside the Google business area. Parking isn't a huge issue (as long as you're quick enough), and personally I enjoy the quick grab and go feel. We always order ahead of time and service is fast. I always get it to go and have a dim sum picnic with my boyfriend. It has become one of our special anniversary traditions, and I'm glad this place can be a part of it. Even though we get it to go, it never fails to taste fresh. Our faves are the XLB soup dumplings, har gow, chili shrimp wontons, pork buns, shu mai, and house chili noodles (we get the same order everytime). I got together with 5 other friends and we straight up FEASTED. None of us have been here before and we were all excited to try it. We ordered the Shrimp Balls, XLB Soup Dumplings, 2 Chili Shrimp Wontons, Chinese Chive Dumplings, Footballs, 2 Turnip Cakes, Har Gow, Rice Rolls with Shrimp, 2 Lo Mai Gai, 2 Shu Mai, Garlic Noodles, Rice Roll with Pork Belly, and Sesame Balls. We were stuffed afterwards and had enough leftovers for maybe 2 more people! I don't think any of the items we ordered were a miss. One friend ordered ahead while another friend picked up-- it seemed pretty straightforward! I'm basic, so my standard comparison will always be between different places' Shu Mai. These were sizable, tasty, meaty-filled steamed goodness! The Lo Mai Gai was also very good-- this is the first time I've seen it covered in paper then covered in the lotus leaf (usually I just see the leaf). XLBs are probably not the best in to go format, because the temperature of the XLB makes a big difference in experience and flavor. There were a few of my friends that made a comment that they'd like to try it in the restaurant itself in person instead of takeout. Overall would highly recommend! For dim sum to-go, this place is a decent choice. We ordered though the site and it was pretty straightforward. Keep in mind each order takes 30 minutes to prepare so the earliest you can pick up is 30 minutes. They offer family meals and samplers so you can try a variety of dim sum options. Pricing ranges more on the higher side when it comes to dim sum takeout. We placed an order for shumai, footballs, and egg tarts. It can be pretty hard to navigate if you are a first-timer to the area. You pick up your order at the Twenty Eight restaurant located in the same plaza as Google, BLKdot, and Equinox. There's a parking structure with designated restaurant parking. When you arrive into the front of the bar, someone is there to hand you your order. Very simple, very fast. Validated parking is available at the door. They provide you with utensils, soy sauce, chili sauce, and napkins. Everything is packaged neatly so it's easy for cleanup and for on the go. The shumai is decent. Inside the football, there is very little filling, which is disappointing. But, there texture of the fried glutinous rice shell is so crispy! I like how both the shumai and football aren't super oily like other dim sum places. The egg tarts are not good. The crust is puff pastry, so it was flakey and really greasy. I prefer a shortbread crust. There wasn't not much of a strong custard flavor. All in all, the egg tarts were bland and really heavy on the egg wash. If I were to go back, I'd probably try house chili noodles and the egg yolk buns and stick with the shumai. read more

After trying the sesame red bean balls (made to order & bomb) a few weeks ago for dessert, I was anxious to try some of their other dim sum entrées. Validated parking is in the covered parking or you can do curbside pickup on weekends. The eatery is located in the office space where Google and Black Dot coffee are located. I was on a staycation in Newport Beach and placed a direct online order before they opened and was able to pick up and dined alfresco by 9:45 am. I ordered the signature dim sum platter with a side order of egg custard tarts. Everything was delicious and the ingredients were of quality, non greasy and made to order. My faves were the shu mai, ha gow, chive dumplings, pork belly buns and piping hot egg tarts. The prices are higher than Elite and Lunusia in LA county, but after reading reviews of local OC joints - I was totally satisfied overall with the taste, convenience and quality from Furiwa To Go. Since they offered takeout and delivery at 8:30 PM, I decided to place a takeout order for dimsum via Yelp/GrubHub to celebrate some great news that came our way. It is located inside of the Google business center so parking is kind of weird, but if you happen to park in the structure then they will validate parking for you. This was probably my favorite dumpling ***XLB soup dumpling: These were their pork soup dumpling, dark vinegar with fresh ginger. We got 6 pieces for $11.25 and they were good although not super soupy ***Pork Belly Bun which was their char siu bow. It was $10.95 for 6 smaller buns and they were actually quite good. The filling was not fatty at all and the buns were perfect. ***Gai Lan which is their chinese broccoli in an oyster sauce. It was $11.95 and worth every penny. ***Egg tart which is their baked custard cup. The came 6 to an order for $11.50 and they were delicate, sweet perfection. After eating Furiwa Togo, I would say this is the place we'll go to for Premium Dim Sum. Dim sum one say it's 2021??! Found Furiwa Togo from a fellow IG and he told me about this gem! We ordered a few dim sum dishes for our family New Year dinner and it was on point! I was told to call and place my order because the GRUBHUB online service charges more. Well, I tried calling 3 times today and no one picked up. Maybe there were too many orders placed today?? Luckily, I got a 20% discount code from GRUBHUB and used that! So there! The restaurant or kitchen I should say is shared with TwentyEight in the same plaza as BlkDot and Equinox. Parking is free with validation. Bring in your ticket to get the stamp! I ordered ahead of time (3.5 hrs ahead) and the food was ready when I got there! Staff was super nice and the process was easy. Food: Har gaw (steamed shrimp dumplings): perfection! The dumpling skin was just right! Flavor was good! Shumai with quail eggs: wow!! Loved every bite of it. The pork was definitely fatty and juicy! The quail eggs were a nice touch. Chicken shumai: surprisingly tastes completely different from the pork shui mai. There was mushroom with the chicken which brought out a different fragrant and flavor. Glad I got both! Sesame balls: great dessert! This mochi ball with red bean paste in the middle was not too sweet or oily! It was crunchy, chewy, buttery, and sweet all in one bite. This was a definite favorite! Overall, the food was amazing! The price is a little pricier than Tim Ho Wan or Sam Woo dim sum dishes but the quality of the ingredients is much fresher! Love that dim sum is served until late too! Can't wait to try other dishes! The place was hard to find. It's in the food/restaurant area near Google. We ordered shu mai, sticky rice and rice roll with pork belly. The sticky rice was very sticky and mushy. The shu mai had a lot of meat, but had chunks of fat inside. The roll was pretty good. Overall it was decent. read more

This branch of Furiwa is operating as a ghost kitchen inside of Twenty Eight Restaurant and Bar which is smack in the middle of an Irvine office complex that includes Google. There is a nearby structure where you can park and then get the ticket validated at the hostess stand inside the front entrance. As indicated by its name, the business is strictly doing pick-up and third party delivery which fits the latest restrictions imposed by the government. The dim sum menu had all the standard fare that you would expect to find at a tea house. For my order, I selected the Lo Mai Gai (two pcs), Har Gow (eight pcs), and Shu Mai (eight pcs). While the first item was reasonably priced, I felt that the Har Gow and Shu Mai were expensive at $12.50 and $10.50 respectively. Normally the portion size at a restaurant is four pieces so halving the cost would still mean $6+ and $5+ each. Compared to Chinatown areas, that is at least 25 to 50% higher. With that being said, the quality and size of the products I sampled were quite good. Like another reviewer had noted, the dumplings were not greasy or salty. The skin/wrapping was not too thick either. The filling of the sticky rice was tasty. Their location caters nicely to the well-paid clientele in the neighboring buildings so charging premium prices was probably strategically pre-planned by the owners. read more

Horrible. I ordered a whole duck for $86 and this is what I get with a small box of bones and "meat" which was supposed to be the rest of the duck. But was that supposed to be the skinniest, most underfed duck they could find? Or were they keeping the good pieces for their dine-in customer? This was for a work party and while it tasted good and the skin was crispy, for the price we paid, this was an embarassmen. Never again. read more

The best dim sum in Irvine! The dimsum at Furiwa is the only dimsum in the area comparable to Bay Area and 626 dimsum, in my opinion. My only setback is that I wish their quantities were a bit smaller since I usually go here to buy dimsum for 2-3 and 1 order of siu mai from them is like 8 pieces. The price is pretty decent and the parking is easy - you just park at the structure next door and then validate the ticket at the front door. This place is located in another restaurant so might be a little difficult to figure out where to go but there's usually someone at the front door to help get your order! read more
