This is a ghost kitchen Meaning- they share the kitchen with the restaurant. You cannot eat at the restaurant itself. You have to order via grubhub or the restaurant's own website We sat in the restaurant that they were sharing the kitchen with and they were splendid with service - even though we were just waiting on our food. The actual food from the ghost reatautant is FANTASTIC!!!
HOW TO ORDER AND PICK UP: - Order online - Park at the Google Center parking structure - Find and walk inside Twenty Eight Restaurant - Say "Helllooooo?" very loudly because it's empty inside - Let them know you're here to pick up your order and wait patiently - Don't forget to validate your ticket After spending $70 on to go dim sum, it was just OK. Shu mai flight (really good) and turnip cake were great but my other items were ok at best. The Chili shrimp noodles were dry and the Rice Roll with Shrimp had a few shell pieces which were unpleasant. I'd rather drive further for better and cheaper dim sum in the future.
TIP: my husband and I decided on dim sum last minute and was able to order with a person but there was 25 min wait due to them being busy, to avoid any wait order online is the easiest way to go. Located at Twenty Eight restaurant, park in the Google/ Twenty Eight Parking structure.. don't worry about paying as you will get validation at the restaurant EATS: Shu Mai Flight : (2) shu mai, (2) shu mai w. quail egg, (2) shu mai w. lobster, (2) chicken shu mai with house chili oil - this was probably the best dish for us and I liked that we were able to get a taste of the different shu mai that they offered, my favorite was with the quail egg which gave it more richness in each bite Rice Roll with Shrimp Gai Lan-(steamed chinese broccoli) - both these dishes were tasty and traditional dim sum items Turnip Cake - I was a bit let down that the outside was burnt, you can definitely tell in my picture lol Shrimp Chili Noodles- these were flat noodles with house chili oil and shrimp... the noodles were on the dryer side and overcooked, it also came with an old lime and cilantro that looked like it was going bad. Overall the food was decent, I give this place a 3.5 out of 5. Spending over $70 on 5 dishes is kinda steep in my opinion and there were some areas where they missed the mark in quality. FYI we didn't get any soy sauce thinking they would provide that to us and we only got hot mustard because we asked, so make sure if you try this place to ask for both! If I were to try this place again I would only come back for the shu mai.

This is a take out pop-up place that operates out of the Twenty-Eight restaurant bar area off of Jamboree in Irvine. The large Google parking structure is located across the way and they do validate. I had placed my order online and it was ready within the 30 minute timeframe that they quoted. When I first arrived, no one was at the front so I had to say "helllllooo" really loud, and finally someone magically appeared from the back. I would highly recommend that they get a bell if they're not going to be visibly up front, as another customer did the same thing shortly after me. Despite that little hiccup, service was fast and friendly. As mentioned, I ordered the dim sum bento for $16.50, which came with: shu mai, shu mai with quail egg, har gow, chinese chive dumpling, pork belly bun, lo mai gai, pickled vegetables & house chili oil. I also requested a side of Chinese mustard. The dim sum was placed in a perfectly sized bento box. When I brought it home, the dim sum was still warm. I didn't even need to heat it up. Everything was absolutely delicious and I loved the variety! I would absolutely return again and get the same thing... it was that good!
Food wasn't anything special, but the location is extremely convenient. Makes it super easy to pick up lunch if you work in the office buildings nearby.

Why? Because it's a to go place and I immediately pictured it as a drive-thru fast-food kind of joint. We happened to be in the area, and I immediately recalled that this place was nearby, so here we went.....and boy oh boy.....so glad I got to try this place out. Yea, like everybody has mentioned, it's not easy to find....kind of hidden within the office buildings of the Google Center grounds. Then, there's the need to find parking.....you really need to look out for the right parking garage as the others are either reserved for Google or bank employees and visitors. Once you see a small display board by the parking structure's entrance that reads.....Twent Eight Restaurant Parking.....you've found the right place....and have no fear, there's ticket validation at the restaurant. Yes, this restaurant is actually "Twenty Eight," a fine dining steak place by night with fancy, trendy, and cool interior...with bar, dining rooms ranging from sizes to cater to large events to smaller and more private groups....and even with a small outdoor patio. At lunch times, this is a takeout Dim Sum place where you either place your order online and pickup your food later, or you come here, use your phone to scan the QR Code at the front entrance desk, which brings up the menu, place your order there and then, and then wait for your food to come out of the kitchen. Unfortunately, when we came here today, the outdoor the large dining area and outdoor patio was reserved for an event, but we were directed to a few outdoor picnic tables around the corner. So, this being our first time here, we simply ordered our most favorite dim sum dishes......the Chicken Shu Mai (steamed minced chicken dumplings), Vegetable Gow (steamed vegetable dumplings), Har Gow (steamed shrimp dumplings), Turnip Cake (pan fried), Gai Lan (Chinese Broccoli) ....with side of oyster sauce, and House Chili Noodles. Chili sauce, hot mustard, hot chili oil, etc., are all extra....except maybe the chili sauce......oh, I am so glad they offer hot mustard here as all the other dim sum restaurants no longer offer it for some reason. One word pretty much describes all the dim sum we tried here.....WOW! Quite definitely the best dim sum I've tried in California! The dumplings are freshly steamed hot and fresh, with delicious filling and perfect thickness skin, and perfect bite sized portions. The turnip cake was wonderful too, but because it was in a takeaway box, the usually crispy surface had become soft. But the turnip cake itself was perfectly soft, moist, and delicious. And that House Chili Noodles.....outstandingly delicious.....more spicy than I'm usually used to, but daaaaaang, I just couldn't stop eating it! Ok, this place may seem more expensive than the other dim sum places, but it really isn't because the dumplings come in servings of eight vs regular restaurants which serve them in threes or fours. Overall, we were very impressed and happy with the excellent quality and very high standard of dim sum here.....yea, the whole concept is very different than what most of us are used to...and takes getting used to....that is, the missing sit down large round dining table with lazy Susan, being served hot tea with hot water refills, and steaming baskets of dim sum on roller carts coming around to your table, but hey, the quality of the dim sum here is well worth the sacrifice, and is why I'd give this place a solid 5-stars for the food alone.
This togo place is hidden in the corporate area, you have to park in the structure and walk in. The togo restaurant is located inside Twenty-Eight. It's a little confusing when you get there but you just walk up and ask a worker for furiwa togo. The people were nice and the service was good. Price wise, I feel it's on the more expensive side. The portions are pretty standard compared to a dim sum restaurant. The food was definitely really good and i would come back here again! The only thing i felt was missing was sauce!!! make sure to ask for sauce before you leave! I ordered the turnip cake and drizzled some sriracha on it when i got home. I also got the chashu pork bun, shrimp har gow, lo mai gai, and chicken feet (not pictured). overall despite having no sauce, the food was pretty good!
All of the food was amazing!! So delicious! Definitely going back when I visit Irvine again!

All these years later, Furiwa is still my favorite Chinese restaurant to-go. I love their Peking duck and all the different varieties of dumplings and buns. Each year for Lunar New Year they do the most amazing creative animal dessert buns. Adorable! It's also great having the Irvine location which is much closer to where I live. read more

Dim sum is life. There are quite a few places in Orange county to get good dim sum/dumplings, and Furiwa To-go has definitely entered the conversation on places worth trying. I base my early dim sum reviews (that aren't push cart or old school) by a few criterion. Taste, Texture, and Cost, and in particular, the Siu Mai. See, Furiwa, on a per-cost-per-dumpling, is on the higher side of most places at $1.37, while Tim Ho Wan is at $1.44. For reference Seafood Cove 2 is about $1.19, and my general Siu Mai winner, Crystal Dumpling, is $1.06. There's something to be said about Tim Ho Wan's process and quality, while being smaller, whereas Furiwa, Crystal, and SFC2 are all your traditional larger sized dumpling. But what can I say? Crystal and SFC2 are far for someone who lives in South OC, so unless I'm craving push cart service from China Garden, Furiwa is probably the spot to order from. You can probably eat in the seats outside, as this is to-go only (seems like they share a kitchen with 28) but I've ordered twice via UberEats. Parking is a bit confusing, so situate that when picking up. If UberEats drivers can figure it out, you will be able to as well. Siu mai is decent, pork isn't as flavorful as some places, but it works. The Hargow is also good too. Their "footballs" which I love... (who doesn't love deep fried glutenous balls!?!?!) are always a for sure order. I haven't tried anything else both times, as these are really the only essentials when ordering. Don't be afraid to try anything else (I should take my own advice) If you're on the fence on whether or not to try it, use this review as reassurance, that you should. Dim sum, hungry bellies, lots of dishes for takeout: Siu mai (well executed) Siu mai with lobster (the lobster was a nice touch, but not at all worth the premium for it) XLB (mushy thick skins, filling was well-seasoned, didn't transport well) Char siu bao (very tasty with above average pork filling) Lo mai gai (average, nothing special) Turnip cake (somewhat gummy) Gai lan (very good, nice portions) Fried shrimp balls (solid) House chili noodles (great kick from the chilis, al dente, one of the best dishes) Egg tart (excellent lamination in the shells much like a fine croissant, creamy custard filling, best of the bunch!) Beef tripe (tender and super flavorful broth) While certainly on the pricy side for dim sum, the dishes on the whole were very good with the noodles and egg tarts being particularly awesome. Worth revisiting to get more of those and explore other items. read more

We had our Chinese New Year feast last night with take out from Furiwa. Excellent. They did forget our 2 egg custard desserts but oh well. We did order a lot. Will be patronizing them again. Will just make sure to check our order before we leave. read more

I got together with 5 other friends and we straight up FEASTED. None of us have been here before and we were all excited to try it. We ordered the Shrimp Balls, XLB Soup Dumplings, 2 Chili Shrimp Wontons, Chinese Chive Dumplings, Footballs, 2 Turnip Cakes, Har Gow, Rice Rolls with Shrimp, 2 Lo Mai Gai, 2 Shu Mai, Garlic Noodles, Rice Roll with Pork Belly, and Sesame Balls. We were stuffed afterwards and had enough leftovers for maybe 2 more people! I don't think any of the items we ordered were a miss. One friend ordered ahead while another friend picked up-- it seemed pretty straightforward! I'm basic, so my standard comparison will always be between different places' Shu Mai. These were sizable, tasty, meaty-filled steamed goodness! The Lo Mai Gai was also very good-- this is the first time I've seen it covered in paper then covered in the lotus leaf (usually I just see the leaf). XLBs are probably not the best in to go format, because the temperature of the XLB makes a big difference in experience and flavor. There were a few of my friends that made a comment that they'd like to try it in the restaurant itself in person instead of takeout. Overall would highly recommend! We are limited in dim sum restaurants in the area, so this is a super solid choice. I would definitely order from them again. read more
For dim sum to-go, this place is a decent choice. We ordered though the site and it was pretty straightforward. Keep in mind each order takes 30 minutes to prepare so the earliest you can pick up is 30 minutes. They offer family meals and samplers so you can try a variety of dim sum options. Pricing ranges more on the higher side when it comes to dim sum takeout. We placed an order for shumai, footballs, and egg tarts. It can be pretty hard to navigate if you are a first-timer to the area. You pick up your order at the Twenty Eight restaurant located in the same plaza as Google, BLKdot, and Equinox. There's a parking structure with designated restaurant parking. When you arrive into the front of the bar, someone is there to hand you your order. Very simple, very fast. Validated parking is available at the door. They provide you with utensils, soy sauce, chili sauce, and napkins. Everything is packaged neatly so it's easy for cleanup and for on the go. The shumai is decent. Inside the football, there is very little filling, which is disappointing. But, there texture of the fried glutinous rice shell is so crispy! I like how both the shumai and football aren't super oily like other dim sum places. The egg tarts are not good. The crust is puff pastry, so it was flakey and really greasy. I prefer a shortbread crust. There wasn't not much of a strong custard flavor. All in all, the egg tarts were bland and really heavy on the egg wash. If I were to go back, I'd probably try house chili noodles and the egg yolk buns and stick with the shumai. read more
After trying the sesame red bean balls (made to order & bomb) a few weeks ago for dessert, I was anxious to try some of their other dim sum entrées. Validated parking is in the covered parking or you can do curbside pickup on weekends. The eatery is located in the office space where Google and Black Dot coffee are located. I was on a staycation in Newport Beach and placed a direct online order before they opened and was able to pick up and dined alfresco by 9:45 am. I ordered the signature dim sum platter with a side order of egg custard tarts. Everything was delicious and the ingredients were of quality, non greasy and made to order. My faves were the shu mai, ha gow, chive dumplings, pork belly buns and piping hot egg tarts. The prices are higher than Elite and Lunusia in LA county, but after reading reviews of local OC joints - I was totally satisfied overall with the taste, convenience and quality from Furiwa To Go. BTW, I was speaking to the asian male working there and I inquired about the Westminster location. They offer a different menu, catering and have been operating since 1990. read more

I will say that I have had a wide range of dim sum places (Capital Dim Sum, Sam Woo, DTF, etc) and this is by far the best all around place when it comes to price, quality, and taste. It's located inside a different restaurant inside the Google business area. Parking isn't a huge issue (as long as you're quick enough), and personally I enjoy the quick grab and go feel. We always order ahead of time and service is fast. I always get it to go and have a dim sum picnic with my boyfriend. It has become one of our special anniversary traditions, and I'm glad this place can be a part of it. Even though we get it to go, it never fails to taste fresh. Our faves are the XLB soup dumplings, har gow, chili shrimp wontons, pork buns, shu mai, and house chili noodles (we get the same order everytime). The ambiance is awesome, 10/10 recommend. read more
Since they offered takeout and delivery at 8:30 PM, I decided to place a takeout order for dimsum via Yelp/GrubHub to celebrate some great news that came our way. It is located inside of the Google business center so parking is kind of weird, but if you happen to park in the structure then they will validate parking for you. However, it is best to park and call for curbside pickup to save time. I decided since there were so many things I wanted to try, I got the "Dim Sum for 2" platter in order to try a bunch of different things. I felt like it was fairly priced for what we got! We were stuffed by the end of our meal! My husband and I were starving and we were impressed w most of the dishes! I kind of wish they would have labeled the boxes to figure out what I was eating but understand that there were probably a lot of late night orders. However, it did come w a receipt that checked off the order items including the shu mai, har for, Chinese chive dumpling, pork belly bun, egg gold bun, garlic noodles, spicy chicken wings, and chilled cucumbers. I feel like if we ate at the restaurant, it would have been a much better experience. I would have to say there were two dishes we really liked and that was the shu mai and egg yolk bun! My husband swore the egg yolk bun was pumpkin or sweet potato, but it was very sweet and yummy (kind of like a bonus dessert to me.) i liked how the buns were fluffy as well. read more

Highly Recommend and would definitely re-order. It looked so great and we were so hungry. I forgot to take pictures however everything was picture. Perfect just like you see in the menu. We ordered the Candied Walnut Shrimp, Garlic Noodles and the Pork Belly Buns. The shrimp were huge. The noodles were perfect lots of garlic and perfectly chewy noodles. The pork buns were also great. Only ordered Har gow and shu mai to go. Was curious as to the high price but read it was located in the 28 restaurant so thought I'd roll the dice and see. Experience Parking: 1 star of 5. Resto provides no instructions where to park and this is an office complex with multiple buildings and multiple garages. Asked the unfriendly pickup dude where to park and discovered you need to park in the furthest, parking garage from the restaurant: sucks if you're taking food to go. Ordering online: 5 stars out of 5 No issues ordering online and received a text after the order was placed and a text when the order was ready. It would be nice however, if they added the phone number of the restaurant to the text as well as just the address. Staff: 3 out of 5 stars. Not rude, but not friendly. Kind of gave the vibe that I was interrupting perhaps the prep for the 28 restaurant for later that evening?? Certainly wasn't the friendliness for someone who just paid $31 for two dim sum dishes ( NOTE: the prices are higher than traditional dim sum places but these are 8 pieces each and not 4 per order FYI) The food: 5 star of 5 stars Dim sum can vary depending on where the staff that makes it is from. Non-Chinese dim sum places are usually quite poor quality, mainland China places aren't bad but have very different flavors. I tend to gravitate more towards dim sum places who's kitchen staff is from Hong Kong. I found the flavor, quality, texture of the 2 items to be very good and delicious. Whatever that garlic chili oil that they gave seemed to be an La wai attempt at making a good dim sum dipping sauce. I appreciate the effort but that was a definite fail for me. Overall 3.95 stars. I would say if you really wanted a good solid har gow and sui mai order to go and you didn't mind parking far away and paying a premium price, then this is your spot. read more
The place was hard to find. It's in the food/restaurant area near Google. We ordered shu mai, sticky rice and rice roll with pork belly. The sticky rice was very sticky and mushy. The shu mai had a lot of meat, but had chunks of fat inside. The roll was pretty good. Overall it was decent. read more
This branch of Furiwa is operating as a ghost kitchen inside of Twenty Eight Restaurant and Bar which is smack in the middle of an Irvine office complex that includes Google. There is a nearby structure where you can park and then get the ticket validated at the hostess stand inside the front entrance. As indicated by its name, the business is strictly doing pick-up and third party delivery which fits the latest restrictions imposed by the government. The dim sum menu had all the standard fare that you would expect to find at a tea house. For my order, I selected the Lo Mai Gai (two pcs), Har Gow (eight pcs), and Shu Mai (eight pcs). While the first item was reasonably priced, I felt that the Har Gow and Shu Mai were expensive at $12.50 and $10.50 respectively. Normally the portion size at a restaurant is four pieces so halving the cost would still mean $6+ and $5+ each. Compared to Chinatown areas, that is at least 25 to 50% higher. With that being said, the quality and size of the products I sampled were quite good. Like another reviewer had noted, the dumplings were not greasy or salty. The skin/wrapping was not too thick either. The filling of the sticky rice was tasty. Finally!!! dim sum in the OC that actually tastes like legit and authentic dim sum. That being said, you'd think it would be fairly easy to find decent dim sum nowadays in the OC, but many places simply cut corners on quality and taste and that results in a lackluster product. For most, they probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference but this guy can. I ordered "to go" a handful of times from this place and they have yet to disappoint me. From the traditional shu mai and har gao dumplings to the tasty custard pies and baos, it's clear these guys know their dim sum. The dumplings are plump and flavorful. The baos fluffy and generously filled with quality ingredients and oh the egg custard pies are divine...flaky, buttery crust with a beautiful yellow custardy egg center. I couldn't eat just one! I'm writing this review for all of you out there who are exhausted trying to find good quality dim sum. Look no further, Furiwa To Go is here to save the day! Happy Eats! read more

For the irvine location, pick up is inside Twenty Eight Restaurant (Address: 19530 Jamboree Road, Irvine). Our other location is on Beach Boulevard in Westminster.
Is the house chili sauce vegan (no fish sauce)?
No we do not use fish sauce. Our house chili oil is completely vegan.
Which nuts do you use in your food? Is there any cross contamination or possible contact with other nuts during cooking?
Our candied walnut shrimp is the only dish with nuts. All other items do not contain any nuts.
How many steamed buns does it come with for whole duck or half duck?
A whole duck has 12 buns and a half duck has 6 buns.
Are you open for sitting dine-in?
We are actually a take-out concept only. We do have tables outside that you can enjoy your food at.
