    Spicy Jelly Noodle

My go-to spot for Sichuan cuisine takeout. The flavors are authentic, and dishes like the twice cooked pork are must-orders. It's one of the few places my dad genuinely enjoys, which says a lot. The restaurant is located right across the street from South Coast Plaza, in an area with many dining options. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout, service is quick and reliable. It's a small space, but there are plenty of tables. A hidden gem for real Sichuan flavor.

What can I say? When you run into a menu with mis-spelled words, you know you're in the right place. Nestled just outside of South Coast Plaza but not in Costa Mesa, lies this hidden gem that has apparently been on everyone's radar except mine. The newly immigrated locals seem to frequent this place along with the elderly, which cements my faith in this place. The service can be rough during peak hours, but that is to be excepted. Nominal prices and plentiful options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike! The ambiance is cozy yet loud; a potentially authentic experience that I can't wait to experience again soon!

Empty midday. The fried chicken with peppers was good. Very spicy. Szechuan noodles were flavorful but didn't love the texture of the noodles.

I'm so glad I found this Szechuan style place. The kung pow chicken is delicious and I love all the fresh ginger. The beef fried rice is especially good and love the portion size. Service is quick and easy. I enjoy eating both inside and outside the overall ambience is quick and casual without having to compromise for quality!

Came in later at night ( around 7-8) and so there was no one else in store, but the cashier still let us sit down & order! Therefore, we literally got dishes hot off the press. I was pleasantly surprised by this place, they have a variety of protein available ( from frog to rabbit to iintestines) and the food wasn't too msg heavy. It would be a good place to take someone to explore. The portions were decent and had lots of different kinds of chilis ( is spicy) Braised fish- a nice change to the typical spicy fried one. The braised sauce was slightly sweet. Fish was okay, not the freshest Chili oil wonton- can skip. Does taste homemade in the sense that the skin is very QQ ( softer than all dente chew), but filling size is like wonton soup size & not much chili oil. House rabbit- surprised for the price (expected appetiser) the rabbit had a decent amount of meat vs typically seen and nice flavor Cold noodles- nice texture and flavor. Slight mala, would recommend as it wasn't too tangy or sweet, good balance of flavors and fresh spices Tripe- good portion not typical for Chinese restaraunt, but similar style of stir fry Overall, service was nice and kind of left us to our own but attentive to our needs. Narrow space calls for parties of 3-4, order via qr code pay in person at the register.

I've doordashed from Tasty Zone twice in the past month. Currently on a Szechuan kick and craving those peppers bad. I've ordered their chili oil chicken, mapo tofu, cumin beef, intestines deep fried and stir fried. Everything has been really solid and delicious. Highly recommend and my only wish is if everything was even more spicy/numbing!

Spicy Szechwan, those numbing peppers Overall, very addictive Needed lots of water. Seems very authentic.

Food is terrible. Super salty and too much MSG. I literally throw up after eating the food. Too much salt and too much MSG. Service is as much terrible as the food. The waitress couldn't even say hi and thank you and being super rude. Worst Restaurant ever. Everyone who go there will regret.

Yes to vegetarian/vegan options! Started with the spicy jelly noodle. Really tasty and definitely spicy! Then the deep fried tofu with spicy sauce. The sauce was delicious and the tofu soaked it up nicely. Not super spicy. Finally the stir fried mixed vegetables. This is definitely the most mild, not spicy at all and maybe even a little on the bland side flavor-wise but still a nice reprieve from the more flavorful dishes. Wish some of the veggies were cut smaller though.

Tasty zone is a yummy spicy Chinese restaurant. Newly renovated dive covid it has a fun vibe. It's not a big restaurant so if you are coming at lunch or dinner hours there may be a wait. There is plenty of parking and well located in the shopping center at the corner. The service is good. Nothing over the top but friendly and efficient. The food is yummy and spicy. It is served hot and fresh. The menu is large with a huge variety to choose from spicy, ma la and not spicy. I recommend getting the yogurt if getting spicy if you are not used to it.

This place was SO good. The food was so rich in flavor, it was extremely reasonably priced for how delicious and large the plates were. The service was 10/10, anything we needed, he was right there to help :) Quiet little spot, have no clue why it isn't more busy. My husband and I agreed that this is the best Chinese food we have had in a while. This is a spicy spot, most of their food is spicy options, but there is always an option to bring it to mild or up to Xxhot We got Kungpau Chicken Spicy Sour Wontons Crispy Garlic Pork Shrimp fried rice I can't to come back and try more things off the menu

Is a plate suppose to be for one person or is it meant to be shared with the people you bring? For example, do I buy one plate of orange chicken, and another plate of noodles for my daughter and I ?? I been around here, but I am afraid to try it.

The plates are meant to be shared family style. You can order 1 dish for yourself, but the experience is best when you can try multiple dishes.

We've been here several times before and what keeps us coming back is the quality of the food. Today, they had a new chef cook our food and it was terrible. Green beans were extremely sour (way way too much vinegar). Mapo Tofu had a ton of oil but not enough sauce, so it was just flavorless except the oil. The fried pork chop was over fried where some pieces you can't even bite through. The rice had too much water in it and was mushy. I rarely return food but this time it was so bad we had to let them know. We returned all of our dishes back to them. They let us know there was a new chef today, and they would remake all the dishes for us with the original chef. The replacement dishes were just as good as all our previous visits and it was excellent again! So thanks to the staff for fixing the problem. I'm not sure if they are training a new chef to take over, or as a backup, but they need to be careful as serving bad quality food like that would drive most people to never come back. We knew the food was good from prior experience, so we knew we could ask why the food quality changed. For first time customers, or those that may have ordered to go - if you had bad food today, it may have been a fluke due to the new chef. Service however was a amazing as usual. For all our visits including today, the staff has been kind and always looking for ways to help out and make sure we were having a good experience. So besides the food being good, I would say excellent service is also huge plus here. Don't be fooled with the automated ordering and robot delivering the food into thinking there is no service. The people behind the counter are awesome! Hope management takes care of this new chef issue quickly since their food quality is the main reason people come here. There was a night and day difference between the original food we got today, and the replacement!

Modern Chinese, Ancient Disappointment…read more EverSpring looks great, sounds great, and is priced like it plans to deliver something memorable. Unfortunately, what I'll remember most is how quickly my excitement turned into polite disappointment. The salt and pepper pork chops were...bold. And by bold I mean shockingly salty, like the chef was trying to preserve them for winter. I've had salt and pepper chops more times than I can count, and this version tasted nothing like any of them. Overcooked, oddly flavored, and just completely off. If this was a creative interpretation, creativity may have gone a step too far. Then there was the crispy beef. I say this with sincerity: it was inedible. Not "I'm picky" inedible--burned-breading-that-tastes-like-toasted-mistakes inedible. Each bite delivered a charming note of scorched regret, like someone deep-fried a crouton and called it a day. I stopped eating not because I was full, but because my taste buds filed an HR complaint. And look, if this were cheap comfort food, I'd shrug it off. But this is sit-up-straight-when-the-bill-arrives pricing. For what we paid, I expected at least one dish to make me say, "Okay, this works." That moment never came. The concept is solid, but the food just didn't deliver. I wanted to love it. My taste buds, however, requested an early exit. Everything went to the trash can. Never again.

Whenever I'm in Garden Grove, Korean and Vietnamese cuisine will always take precedence. However,…read moremy most recent trip pivoted from the norm, and Noodle Star became the destination. The end result? Reasonable prices, warm service, and very tasty food. Like so many Chinese restaurants, the name and theme is inherently confusing. Up until last year, the place was Harbor Garden and it's rebranded to Noodle Star ever since. The Chinese name ("川粵" aka "Chuan Yue") would imply there is a Sichuan + Cantonese component to the offerings, despite the words "teppanyaki" and handmade noodles (手工麵) noted on the exterior as well as on signs on the interior. Typically any restaurant that dabbles in multiple regional Chinese variations (Sichuan, Cantonese, Shanghainese, Lanzhou, etc.) is a huge flight risk. Surprisingly, it all worked out. All of my orders were from different regions of the country, starting with a Cantonese beef chow fun (乾炒牛河) that was delightfully smokey from the wok hei (#1) and the noodles and beef were silky and smooth. While the noodles aren't as wide as I would have liked, they were still 100% workable in the dish. The Taiwanese style popcorn chicken (鹽酥雞) was wonderfully fried and the chicken was still juicy on the inside. Their napa cabbage + shrimp + pork steamed dumplings (白菜豬肉蝦水餃) were pillowy soft and steamed perfectly. They were plump and not too doughy; which is very appropo for a northern Chinese dish. The biggest surprise may have come from the soup dumplings (小籠包), which had just the right amount of soup and a very delicate dumpling skin that was downright excellent. The service was kind, attentive, and very bilingual with Mandarin and English. Prices might feel high to non-Cali folks, but the spectrum is very much on the Socal average. (#2). Bathrooms were mostly clean and the seating options were plentiful; solid for large and small group action. Parking can be tough on the weekends since it's a strip mall.
