Banchan

Great flavor and good service-we enjoyed the house special bossam with soy sauce and the house cut noodles, it was plenty of food for the two of us and lots of yummy leftovers. The banchan was great and I loved the texture of the noodles.

유탕면 Original Yukgaejang with Custommade Ramyun

I got the original yukgaejang with homemade ramen and it was soo good. They are generous with the portions with lots of noodles and beef. Their sides are super fresh and tasty. Waiters are attentive at refilling. The kimchi side dish is my favorite. Would def come back here if I need a comfort meal.

Bossam and cold noodles
Sara L.

I go here for their bossam and their signature dish, yuk gae jang (spicy beef soup). The broth is rich and flavorful and not too spicy. The bossam is tender and the sides that come with the dish pairs well, especially the pickled plum(maeshil). Service is attentive and the restaurant is quiet and clean. I gave it 3 stars because some of the other items on the menu just don't quite live up to the name. They pride themselves of their broth, but their broth for the naengmyun tasted more like a watered down, store bought frozen broth.

This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Irvine. The yukgaejang is absolutely delicious, the spicy braised short ribs are amazing, and the mul naengmyeon is incredibly refreshing and flavorful. Every dish we tried was excellent, and the service was truly top-notch. If you love Korean food, I highly recommend this place!

Lana K.

The yukgaejang soup is absolutely incredible - rich, spicy, and packed with tender beef brisket, veggies, and your choice of ramen or glass noodles. That beautiful gyeran jjim (steamed egg) is silky smooth perfection. The banchan game is strong here with solid kimchi, fish cakes, and fresh veggie sides. They even serve you purple rice which is a nice touch. Everything comes served in metal bowls that keep your food piping hot the entire meal. Portions are huge and prices are reasonable for the quality you're getting. The yukgaejang with ramen is a must-try - those noodles soak up all that delicious spicy broth. Perfect spot when you need that warm, soul-satisfying Korean comfort food fix! Service is friendly and great as well.

I got their cold noodles and it was so good! Portions were HUGE and the servers are great and recommended some pretty good stuff! Their spicy cold noodles werent super spicy but had a great flavor to it, I wish it was abit spicier and they give more meat!

해물육칼면 Seafood Premium Yukgaejang with Fresh Pasta
Natalie Y.

A good place for Korean food! The fresh pasta in the yukgaejang was really great but overall the dish was too spicy for me. My favorite go-to order is the spicy cold noodles! It's super refreshing. Also my egg had two yolks! Crazy right? service was fine and ambiance was casual! not too busy and not too empty Seafood yukgaejang with fresh pasta: 8/10 Brisket spicy cold bibim noodle: 10/10 Banchan: 8/10 wish they had more variety

Pork chops in kimchi stew
Jenmy W.

Consistently good, authentic Korean food. Their pork belly is legit, as well as the spicy Korean beef soup. We always get those. Today we tried something different. The pork rib kimchi stew. It was really good, slightly on the sweeter side. Very rich, prob a bit too much, would've been nicer with perilla leaves to cut the richness a bit. Next time we'll stick with the usual.

Beef Short Rib Sullungtang with Glass Noodle
Allyssa C.

Was feeling under the weather, so decided to stop by Yuk Dae Jang for some soup! There's lots of seating inside, so we were able to get seated right away even though there was a lot of people inside the store already. We got the beef short rib sullungtang with glass noodles, the beef short rib yukgaejang with glass noodles, and two sides of white rice. There were also complimentary side dishes that went well with our meals. Both soups were comforting and hit the spot. It was exactly what we needed. Service was on the slower side for us, and it seemed like they checked in on other parties more frequently. We had to flag down a worker for the bill and a to go container.

Came with my girlfriend's meetup group for lunch. Yuk Dae Jang opens at 11 and we were waiting, a group of 9. They pushed several tables together for our group. We ordered off the menu and settled on pork belly in soy sauce and beef ribs with glass noodles. Our food came out as the plates were ready. Everything tasted good and we lingered and chatted while we ate. Service was good and the pace was great. Low pressure. Tip was included in the check for our large group but the server pointed this out when she dropped the check.

Medium bossam
Vivian T.

Love the bossam and noodle soups here! We came on a Tuesday evening and waited about 25 minutes to be seated for a party of 5. I ordered the seafood noodle soup with fresh pasta and had the medium sized bossam set to share with the table. The seafood noodle soup was extremely flavorful and packed with a variety of seafood including mussels, clams, and shrimp. I love the fresh pasta here too - it has the perfect bite. I ordered the small intestines noodle soup last time I was here and that is also a great option if you want meat! The bossam was perfectly tender, juicy, and had an amazing smokiness. The bossam coupled with the side dishes makes an amazing wrap. The staff here are very friendly and parking is plentiful in the lot as well. Highly recommend you come here!

Soy sauce braised pork
Joy K.

The soy sauce braised pork was great-so tender and full of flavor. Even the side dishes were delicious, which really made the whole meal stand out. Such a satisfying experience!

Megan S.

everytime i go, i get the original yukdaejung with ramen. the soup base is spicy with a lot of flavor, and there is a good amount of meat inside as well! i really like the chewy noodles and everything plus the broth is so warm and comforting. feels like an authentic korean restaurant with posters of soju with idols on the wall and kpop blasting on speaker, loops of mvs playing on the tv. the side dishes are good too. it's a meal that you think about when you are hungry and cold, definitely a go-to for winter.

Ask the Community - Yuk Dae Jang - Irvine

Do you take reservations for large groups, like 10+?

We usually don't, but I can ask the manager. Please leave you name, phone# and date/time

Do you also offer outdoor dining at this time?

We don't serve outdoor seating, but you can take our food to go and eat at patio.

Is the Naengmyeon broth vegetarian or is it made with beef broth?

It's very beefy broth :)

Are they open for indoor dining yet?

Oh yes we are! We have been open for a while now. We are Togo only on Tuesdays for now but will fully open on Tuesdays as well shortly.

I have a very serious peanut (/ ) allergy. Does this place use peanut in their banchan, sauces, food?

We don't carry any peanuts in our kitchen & never had any trouble with customers with peanut allergy so far. Thank you!

Do you serve gluten free ( wheat flour free) noodles?

We have glass noodle that is made from sweet potato.

Do you have any vegetarian options?

Yes. We have Assorted Mushroom and Tofu Soup.

Are they opened for indoor dining?

No, not yet... Only outdoor. We will open for indoor dining once the county turns to Orange tier. Thank you for your interest in Yuk Dae Jang!

Are they using filtered water making their soup? I heard some of the restaurants use tap water to make their soup and wanted to make sure if their broth is made from filtered water.

Does it really matter knowing it gets boiled and that you're living in a first world country?

My go to is the 8 chicken tender bucket because it is a great value. For $28, you get 8 tenders, 2 large sides and 6 cornbread. I feel that is generous considering other wing and chicken tender place will charge you more for less. The tenders were also really big size as were the sides. I really like the Cajun fries and their baked beans. The baked beans have a lot of BBQ flavor, they do not taste like the plain out of a can type beans. The food last me several days to eat it all making it a very affordable per-meal value. I've also tried their chicken breast plate ups with mashed potatoes and other sides and everything is good and well-made. I like having these kinds of businesses in and around Irvine. Something unique and different than the ubiquitous boba and other Asian style food spots. I recommend people give this location a try as they have a ton of options on their menu. If you dine in person they give you a complimentary corn bread with your plate up which is a nice personal touch! They should also include this one corn bread with their to go orders. I will continue coming back as long as they have the chicken tenders bucket deal!

My collard greens portion seemed to have a bigger pork ratio than I'm used too, but my friend ordered collard greens too and his definitely had more greens. It's a nice casual spot we just found by chance, and I'm glad we decided to try it.

The eggs were poached perfectly, and the salmon wasn't overly fishy at all. We also ordered the Khao Yum Kai Zabb, which was absolutely incredible. The sauce drenching the fried chicken was super flavorful and really unique. It had a more acidic/vinegar-forward flavor that reminded me a bit of a Filipino dish, plus a strong fried shallot flavor that made it even better. I wanted to share some comprehensive feedback regarding a recent experience, aiming to highlight both your successes and areas where further refinement could elevate the customer journey even further. First and foremost, I must commend your team for their exceptional warmth and hospitality. From my initial phone call to the moment I picked up my order, I felt genuinely welcomed and valued. This level of customer service, which often feels lacking in many establishments today, truly sets American Grub apart. It creates a welcoming atmosphere that significantly enhances the overall experience, and I sincerely hope this commitment to friendliness remains a cornerstone of your operation. However, I encountered a couple of points that, in my personal opinion, warrant consideration for improvement. Regarding the payment process, I felt a degree of apprehension about providing my credit card details over the phone. While I understand the operational need to secure orders and prevent potential losses, particularly for larger transactions, for a single item like my bacon cheeseburger, priced at $17.24 including tax, this practice felt somewhat disproportionate. I also noted the 99-cent fee for online payments, which, while minor, might deter some customers who are seeking convenience without additional charges. Perhaps exploring alternative secure payment links for phone orders or adjusting the fee structure for smaller transactions could enhance customer comfort and streamline the process. My primary concern, however, arose upon returning home. Despite ordering a bacon cheeseburger, I discovered the burger completely lacked bacon, as well as any form of sauce or mayonnaise. This oversight had a significant impact on the meal; the absence of these core components rendered the burger quite bland and far from the experience I had anticipated. When ordering a single item, the expectation for meticulous attention to detail is particularly high, as there are fewer variables. Consequently, the overall value of the meal, given the missing ingredients, was not quite met on this occasion. I did reach out to the owner privately via email to discuss these points, and I appreciate their responsiveness and transparency in addressing my feedback, particularly concerning the rationale behind the phone payment policy. It is reassuring to know that your business is open to customer input. My hope is that these observations can serve as constructive input, allowing American Grub to continue refining its excellent service and product quality. I remain a supporter of your local endeavor and look forward to seeing these aspects addressed. Thank you for reaching out. To clarify, all my reviews and communications are crafted solely from my personal experiences and genuine perspectives, not AI. Every word and insight you read is authentically mine, driven by my commitment to provide honest feedback. Even though the review was long..(lol) I wanted to make sure the details are accurate and understandable. Plus I think you and your establishment are great and I wanted to detail that as well Kimberly.
