Delicious comfort food at the Irvine Mall. I went to Georgia's with some friends and was pleasantly surprised by the portions and flavor. The cornbread is warm and buttery to start. For the main dish, I got the flat iron steak. The steak was tender, medium rare and delicious when slathered with the house chimichurri sauce. The mac and cheese was creamy and the collard greens were savory and decadent. We opted for a couple beignets for dessert- YUM! They were pillowy, fresh and melted in my mouth. The service was fantastic, our server, who's name was Adorable, was extremely caring and attentive. 10/10 service. I was really excited to try this restaurant but sadly, I left disappointed. I ordered the blackened chicken pasta and collared greens. The pasta and chicken placed on top was relatively dry, the bit of sauce found under the noodles was oily and flavorless. This is not what I would expect when the sauce is described as a 'roux'. Unfortunately, I found this dish to be inedible and I sent it back. The greens were served piping hot, they were well seasoned and very tasty. My dining partner ordered jambalaya over pasta. The jambalaya was swimming in a loose, tomato-y sauce which reminded me of watered down Campbell's tomato soup. The andouille sausage was dried out and overcooked. This dish was mediocre at best. I don't know who's in the kitchen, but this restaurant could use a bit of advice from a real southern grandma! I rated this restaurant 3 stars for the yummy collard greens, meals that were served piping hot and the friendly service. read more

We had a pleasant birthday dinner at Georgia's, and the exceptional service made it truly special. Our servers, Lizzie and Lisa, were incredibly polite, attentive, and deeply patient with us throughout the night. Lizzie guided us through the menu and highly recommended the Blackened Chicken Pasta, which was delicious. For our side, we ordered the sweet potato fries with cinnamon seasoning. When they both checked in on us, we mentioned we were a bit surprised that the cinnamon seasoning contained sugar. Because we are pre-diabetic, Lisa immediately stepped in with a solution. She recommended switching to the plain sweet potato fries instead and made a whole new batch for us right away. Her quick thinking and care meant the world to us! The high-quality service didn't stop there. Lizzie thoughtfully asked if I wanted a strawberry lemonade refill to go, which made an already great night even happier. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious. Beyond the food, the ambiance was perfect. They were playing a playlist of 60s and 70s oldies and disco music that completely transported me, bringing back the wonderful feeling of being a young kid again. My husband and I stopped in at Georgia's last weekend for an early dinner. This spot has been here for a year and I had been to the Anaheim location previously, so I had an idea of what to expect. We opted for the Tri-tip salad (no blue cheese) with dressings on the side, a cup of gumbo, smothered pork chops with mac & cheese and red beans & rice. It was quite the meal. We ordered up front and were given a number which we brought to our table. They have condiments on a little side table near the back door to the patio. Our food came out in a steady pace. The gumbo was a delightful size for one person but we shared it. It is not spicy but a little Louisiana hot sauce made it sing. The salad came out with blue cheese, which again, I did not want. My husband brought it back to them and they brought out one without the blue cheese. The smothered pork chops were delicious. The mac & cheese was on point. My husband seemed to enjoy the red beans and rice. I'm not one for beans so I did not pass judgement. We both went to town on the entrees and really enjoyed it. The gumbo was a bit watery but okay. The okra did not thicken it up too much which was surprising. The food is delicious. My husband is from New Orleans so he approved. The food here is still top notch, particularly for a chain... some changes have taken place: now a host will seat you, as opposed to order and find your own table. That is fine. One thing I noticed was the restroom was a little chaotic - this place has gotten very busy. The service - the team - is still top notch. This is my second or third time to this place and I just don't think I've had anything spectacular here. We've tried the mac & cheese twice and the second time was better than the first. It's not too heavy and it's not too creamy. It's a good balance. The chicken tenders are juicy but a little bit too greasy. The french fries fries are excellent. Definitely get the cornbread. That was probably the star of the Shiau.. The grilled chicken was really dry. The cabbage was OK. We had the chicken wings and again they were just OK. They're not breaded, which was really nice and the cook on them was OK with the flavor fell flat. The service is a little bit slow at times, but the servers are all really friendly. The photos speak for themselves. I counted at least six tables covered in dirty plates, with no staff attending to them. After waiting 15 minutes at the front because no one was available, I was finally seated outside since nothing inside was clean or ready. I ordered the chicken and waffles, assuming a Southern comfort restaurant couldn't possibly get that wrong. Unfortunately, the food matched the service. The chicken was horrible, it had a strong, gamey smell and flavor, and the batter was overwhelmingly salty. It clearly wasn't fresh and tasted like old, premade frozen chicken. The waffle was decent, but only because the maple syrup saved it. Did anyone check on me during the entire meal or ask if I needed anything? Nope, not even once. Mind you, the restaurant wasn't busy at all; there were maybe four customers dining. I eventually had to walk to the front just to pay because no one bothered to come back to my table. First and last visit. If you want decent service and good food, this isn't it. Restaurants operating at this standard usually don't last long at Irvine Spectrum, and unless Georgia's makes some serious changes, I don't see this location surviving either. read more

Ate at Georgia's on a Sunday for a late lunch. It wasn't too crowded so we were easily able to get a table. You order at the counter, and they'll bring your found out to you. I was debating between the flat iron steak and tri tip, but the staff at the counter let me know they were actually out of tri tip that day. The flat iron steak was good, and the chimichurri was great! I asked for medium rare, but just a couple slices were a bit too rare. The collard greens and coleslaw were both delicious. My collard greens portion seemed to have a bigger pork ratio than I'm used too, but my friend ordered collard greens too and his definitely had more greens. It's a nice casual spot we just found by chance, and I'm glad we decided to try it. read more

The food was good - the Mac and cheese stood out though I will say the coleslaw was bitter as if the red cabbage had been sitting for too long the batter for the chicken was perfectly crispy though very seasoned and slightly salty. Cornbread was good but definitely needs the honey and butter as it is very dry. Overall still a great experience and a very cute spot with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. read more

Finally gave Georgia's a try! We've always passed by the restaurant going to Spectrum and we decided to go for it. We got the gumbo, shrimp + grits, and the shrimp + fries. The gumbo was the best out of the 3. It was flavorful and after I finished, I wanted to dip the fries in there. The cup is a bit smaller than I thought. The shrimp + grits was good, but it wasn't as flavorful as the gumbo. The fries were standard fries, but it was goood along with their ranch. Service is a little slow with bringing food out, but someone did check up on us once. I did have to ask for water though! I will def return for the gumbo! read more

The one at Anaheim had some CRUNCHY, crispy chicken. So I was disappointed that this chicken was more greasy. I did love the Mac, the Cajun rice did not taste Cajun, and my daughter said her waffle tasted stale, and my bf enjoyed his jambalaya. I was way more satisfied with the location and the service! Our friend recommended Georgias to us last week. We went during our lunch and ordered blacken chicken pasta and fried chicken platter with two sides ( Cajun rice and fries). They were low on staff but we didn't mind and she was super nice. There is plenty of seating inside and out. Honestly, the food is really good. I would come here again and recommend. A great place for soul food located in the center of Irvine Spectrum. The closest parking to this location is either in the south side of the structure that is closest to the movie theater or the parking lot directly outside of the restaurants. Both require a brief walk to the restaurant. The parking can be very crowded at times and there are alternative parking lots and structures that are a little farther away. They have both indoor and outdoor seating available at this location. You order your food at the register and are given a number to bring to your table. They have a pretty large variety of dishes on their menu. The staff were very friendly and the service overall was excellent. The meal came with complimentary cornbread and honey butter. The cornbread was warm with a slight crisp on the outside but was soft in the middle. We were sharing a blackened chicken pasta and the restaurant offered to split the dish for us for free. The pasta was cooked al dente and had a delicious savory and creamy sauce. The chicken was tender and had good flavor as well. The beignets were very crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside and the chocolate sauce that it came with was a great addition. We also ran it back on the cornbread which is complimentary if you dine in and the beignets. The chicken and pasta were cooked to perfection. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy, and the pasta had a nice al dente bite to it. The cornbread was warm and soft with great flavor. The beignets were fried with a crisp exterior and a soft, chewy inside which made them a great way to end the meal. The inside is vibrant and spacious with plenty of room to sit comfortably. They have amazing customer service. The person who took our order was friendly and helpful, and the staff continued to check on us throughout the meal even though you pay before sitting which is something I really appreciated. read more

This was my second time at Georgia's and my goodness, the above and beyond top-notch service I received from Quantez was amazing and a blessing!! From the moment I came in until I left, he made my visit a memorable and pleasant experience. It wasn't very busy during this time which was perfect for me. The inside was clean, well put together and there's even outdoor seating to enjoy! I came in to order a small bowl of Jambalaya with two individual orders of original cornbread pieces (2 pieces of bread). I walked out with two Jambalaya bowls instead of one and two complimentary orders of cornbread (4 pieces of bread). I truly thank Quantez for being such a kind light during my visit! Between this top notch, kind, and upbeat service I received from both Michael and Quantez during my two visits, id say I may have discovered my NEW Favorite Soul-Delicious restaurant here in OC!! And don't get me started on that Jambalaya and cornbread! The seasons, flavors, taste just brings me back to my roots every time. My 400th Yelp review was saved specifically for Georgia's Restaurant nestled in Irvine Spectrum. You don't typically find southern food in California and if you do you've probably heard of Lousiana Charlies' and the like in Long Beach. I honestly love jambalaya and gumbo, along with any fish/seafood baskets. When I ordered at the front with the cashier, my table opted for the gumbo cup, chili mac, cajun fries, and peach cobbler. My gumbo had some spice to it, but for those who love spicy you'll probably need a bigger kick. The cup was honestly the perfect size for one person. Chili mac was delicious and is very filling, so I would definitely order this entree to share. I would like to come back and try their shrimp baskets and catfish meals, but I will take into consideration that some of these entrees are definitely big enought to share "family style" for a max of 3 people. Peach cobbler was honestly the best dessert on the menu, but they also have beignets that you don't need to drive all the way to disneyland for. I have been waiting for what seems like forever for this place to open. I don't really visit Irvine Spectrum often, but always look for it to see if it is open. I don't remember how I noticed it was open over the weekend but I immediately made time to drive up to check it out. The first scary thing was that Irvine Spectrum was absolutely PACKED on Saturday night. Little to no parking, people everywhere, and it was a really energetic atmosphere. Walking into Georgias, there was no line and only a couple of tables occupied. Its clean inside but not really what I expected the restaurant to be. I thought it would be more sit down service with a waiter... You order and pay for your food at the counter and they bring it to you. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I ordered many items from the menu to sample the variety. The first item to arrive was complementary cornbread. Sweet and flavorful, not dry or grainy. Very good. Next came the Fried Green Tomatos. While tasty, the breading was far too thick. I would have this as a kid, the breading is supposed to be just to cover not encase. After that a small jambalaya arrived. That was very good, slightly spicy. I also get Lemon Pepper wings which were very flavorful, not too salty, but had a nice tang to them and were not dry or overcooked. Finally for my main, I got the fried chicken, with fries and Mac. I will start with the sides. The fries were shoestring style, not too salty or bland. They were not super crispy but also not old or soggy. They were okay. The Macaroni and Cheese was really good, very flavorful, cheesy, and hot. Mac is one of those subjective things so I can't speak for everyone but to me, they were pretty good. Now on to the Chicken. The flavor was not exactly me cup of tea and not what I expected. Not bad by any means but just not something I would come back for. Just like with the tomatos, the breading was too thick. They season their flower which is a plus and the meat inside the thick crust was tender and juicy. Overall it was a good experience and I would like to try other things on a future visit. Everyone has bad days and perhaps with some minor adjustments to breading and seasoning, eveything can be a winner. I recommend this place for anyone looking for some southern nostalgia without going all the way to LA county. Its not the best, but its worth another visit for sure. read more

When you find something good, praise it. This place is off the charts good. The staff is extremely friendly. They will do anything to make sure you are happy. The menu is simple and has all your favorites from the South. The only thing missing is: humidity and "Hi, ya all!" Oh, and a few flies in the air. Our jambalaya was fantastic. They split it in two since we were sharing our meal. I could taste the spicy sausage, shrimp, and veggies in the dish. We also ordered fried green tomatoes, corn bread, and a spicy chicken pasta. You order at the counter and grab a number. Then they'll bring your food over to you. PIGGY CHEESE FRIES ($10.95) - there were good portions of pulled pork. The BBQ sauce on top made the dish sweet which was surprising to me. I am used to loaded fries that are savory so I wasn't used to a sweet kind. Also, the fries were pretty oily from the pulled pork. 3/5 FRIED CHICKEN ($17.95) - the chicken was crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. I liked that the pieces of chicken were all dark meat. For our two sides we got mac and cheese (good) and the red beans and rice (okay). 4/5 GRETCHEN'S JAMBALAYA ($21.95) - there was a decent hint of spice in the flavorful gravy with good portions of sausage, chicken, and shrimp. The bread was also soft, sweet, and soaked up the sauce well. This was definitely our favorite dish. 4.5/5 BEIGNETS ($3.75) - this came in an order of two. They were on the tinier side and were decent. 3/5 For drinks we got their peach sangria special ($5) and hurricane ($10) which were both decent. I've always had great experiences here, which is why this visit was so disappointing. We ordered our food to go but asked if we could sit inside to eat it. We were told there was no room available inside, so we had to sit outside in the 90° heat (With a toddler). The frustrating part was that there were more than 10 empty tables inside the entire time we were eating. Because we were forced to eat outside, we were sweating the whole meal and it honestly put a damper on the rest of our day--we didn't even feel like shopping afterward. On top of that, it took over 15 minutes just to get our drinks, and even though we were eating there after all, they insisted on serving everything in to-go containers instead of simply plating the food. We ended up having to unpack everything ourselves at the table anyway. The food is usually excellent, and I honestly didn't want to leave a negative review because we've always enjoyed coming here. However, I hope management takes feedback like this seriously and is a little more accommodating to customers in the future. A small change in how this situation was handled would have made a big difference in our experience. read more

Do not eat here, they use Ai photos of their food on their menus and they arent even accurate. I didn't get a close enough look until after i'd already ordered and paid. The Ai photos showed the skewers at their pop up table as being just shrimp, nothing else, then they handed me skewers with significantly smaller shrimp and giant pieces of veggies. Had i known the veggies were on there I wouldn't've ordered because I'm allergic to green bell peppers. I wasn't even able to eat them so my firend got to have a snack and i had to go elsewhere. The potato salad was completely tasteless and the roasted corn on the cob was 1/2 the size it was in the photo and barely had any char marks (and cold even though the guy put it on the grill in front of me). The lemonade was good. 2 skewers, the potato salad, the micro corn and 2 lemonades was around $30. Had I clocked the Ai before I ordered i wouldn't have ordered at all. I loved their food before but I will not be coming again. They clearly dont care enough about their food to take 2 seconds to snap a photo of it, so what other "cost saving" measures are they taking?
