If you can get here without a car, or have someone possibly keep driving around the block until you pick up your food, would be the play. With all that our of the way, even on my first visit to this restaurant, the gentleman behind the counter treated me like I was a regular. That made a huge impression on me. No nonsense at all. I had to order the oxtail because I saw good meaty (thick) they were compared to a lot of places I've had oxtail from. The sides I chose were corn and Greenpeace. They were generous with the portions and I was grinning from ear to ear. I had to tell the gentleman behind the counter how I appreciate that his oxtail axial had a nice amount of meat and not mostly bone. The service was horrible The lady when I walked in customer service was very bad and she was sweating and looked hot it was hot and stuffy when I walked in I got the catfish dinner and in the picture it shows catfish filet and they gave me catfish nuggets my sides was macaroni and cheese which was watery literally had liquid coming out of it I got sweet corn and you can taste the metallic taste like when you eat out of a can. So I'm very sure that that corn was canned corn and also got mashed potatoes and gravy and the gravy had clumps because it was not dissolved yet. They use the powder brown gravy that you use from McCormick and I also got a red Kool-Aid cuz that's the only flavor that they offered and it tastes like syrup not Kool-Aid. I ordered the turkey chop dinner with cabbage/green combo, Mac and cheese and cornbread muffin. The turkey chop was very delicious and flavorful. The cabbage/greens combo was delicious but the Mac and cheese was lacking a little flavor. The muffin was soft, sweet and flavorful. The meal was reasonably priced. I technically didn't go pick up my food as I ordered online and my niece picked it up. But she did not complain That parking was annoying. So you order online and they send you an email and a text which is very convenient. As you can see from the pictures the hot food is ready to be served. Kind of like fast food Chinese food takeout I ordered fried catfish nuggets, the mixture of cabbage and greens, dressing aka stuffing & Black Eyed Peas. And my niece ordered a pineapple drink Which she loved. The complimentary cornbread could've used a lot more seasoning. But my food was yummy. The catfish was soft and I could taste the mealiness grit of the cornmeal. The Black Eyed Peas were flavorful as were the greens. The dressing aka stuffing was forgettable but I'm a Stovetop fan tbh. I am going to return to try their liver, but I think that's made only once a week. The price was average. I really wanted to love the food here. I ordered the oxtail dinner plate. The oxtails were chewy, but we'll seasoned except that the peppers were too much. I ordered mashed potatoes; they tasted great, and so did the cornbread muffin. I also liked the cabbage greens mix. Overall, I didn't see how they could make so much food in such a small place. But if you don't like stems in your greens, you won't like these. I can also tell they added sugar, so if you don't like sugar in your greens or cabbage, you might not like these Black eyed peas- Edible, but nothing to write home about. Could have used more flavor. Mac n Cheese- Not my favorite. And if you like creamy style Mac, this is not the Mac n cheese for you Oxtails- I didn't really enjoy the flavor. There's a spice they use that I'm not a fan of. I can't put my finger on it though. They also weren't very tender and had a lot of fat Overall, Granny's Kitchen is decent soul food and the customer service is great. I was in the mood for some good soul food and Granny's Kitchen didn't disappoint. I ordered the dinner, which comes with one meat and three sides plus two corn bread muffins. I chose the baked chicken, two sides of mac and cheese, yams, and some peach cobbler for desert. The bake chicken was seasoned to perfection and was so tender it fell off the bone - 4.5/5. The max and cheese was nice and cheesy, creamy, and had the classic flavor I was hoping for - 5/5. The yams were sweet and sticky - 4/5. The peach cobbler was really good. I loved the amount of crust it had in it - 4/5. My only issue was with the corn bread. One piece of the corn bread was over cooked, the second piece was perfectly cooked - 3/5. The customer service was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant is located in a small stipe mall with minimal parking. I went to granny's kitchen for first time, and will be my last time. I came aware of the location from instagram. First of all we didn't get all of our sides with the meal. I then had to drive back to the hood, then get back home and tried to eat the food and all of it was horrible. I ordered from grannies for dinner from Postmates. My food was delivered on time, but when I opened it, I couldn't believe it. The cornbread was burnt black black. The dressing was hard and tasted like hard edges so I decided to eat the chicken. I broke the chicken and the chicken was not done. It was blood on the inside of it three side orders were supposed to come with my meals. They only sent two so I called to speak with the manager. It's like why can't the owner go into other restaurants and see the professionalism and take notes.. do better you guys We went this past Saturday 3/14 around 1pm, their front door was unlocked but they were closed nothing was cooked or prepared. We came back Sunday 3/15 and there was a female employee with huge eye lashes working the register that was licking her fingers to open up the plastic bags to bag people's food. Mind you these same hands that her spit is on she's touching peoples plates and food to put in the bag. She then went over to a batch of cornbread and used those same fingers to touch the top of the cornbread to see if it was done or not before grabbing them to bag for a customer in front of us. I mean how could she not be mindful she just licked those fingers. Unprofessional and tacky. The owner who was some guy at the stove was cursing talking to another employee while customers are standing around. We will NEVER be back. Granny's Kitchen you guys need to do better. There were stems all through the rice and gravy. Not sure what kind of stems but it added to me not being totally satisfied. My corn bread dressing was very dry, tasty but dry. Should have gotten a side of the spicy gravy to put over it.‍The oxtails we're a bit tough and the Mac and cheese was just eeeh!
