    Brisket and pork rib combo
    Jeremy L.

This is the best barbecue I've had. Service is great dinosaur beef rib was the best, pork ribs were also great and then the brisket, mac & cheese and beans were both good beans were different than I've had. And then the banana pudding is phenomenal.

Stopped in with a friend recently and while the food wasn't horrible or anything, the final product definitely did not match the price point. I went with a 2 meat/2 side combo and got the brisket and pulled pork. Both servings of proteins were relatively small and both meats were dry compared to what I expect out of quality BBQ. The brisket in particular left a lot to be desired. The mac and cheese was solid. The collard greens were under seasoned. A small piece of cornbread would have been nice, but that costs extra. Service was fine, but felt mechanical. More akin to dining at a Applebees vs. a local neighborhood restaurant. I had to ask twice for BBQ sauce even though they brought it for the person I was with. At over $30 for lunch the value to quality ratio just wasn't there for me. Moister meat, bigger portions and a little TLC from the staff would take this up a notch, but it is what it is. Decent BBQ.

Parked right in front, bring your coins, meter parking or you can scan and pay. I rather just put the coins! We paid for an hour. We had reservations. Upon walking in, spacious place. Seated right away. We did the Dine LA menu we got brisket and pork ribs two sides, potato salad and mac and cheese comes with corn bread and honey butter All that for 25.00 not a bad deal. Brisket tender and fell apart, really good. Pork ribs, a little tough on the meat Mac and cheese, good but felt like it was left out too long Potato salad, good and complimented the meats Cornbread good with the honey butter but on the dry side. Got a garden salad and it was pretty good and helped balance the overload of meats we had. Really enjoyed the dill ranch dressing it was tossed in. We also got the dinosaur beef rib and that itself was a meal in it's own. Really good and flavorful. They had to give us a tray to take it home in. We got some appetizers hush puppies had a spice to them and it seem like it took over. seasoned fries, good and nice crunch. fried okra lightly batter and came was a really good dill ranch. Amazing service, super attentive and our drinks were never emptied.

Rustic interior and divebar vibes.. perfect to eat some meat-heavy BBQ! The inside reminds me of a clean barn and there's several TVs placed around. A group of friends and I shared the group platter with each other since we were all curious to try out different meats. After eating from each bite of side and meat, I would definitely find my go-to to be the brisket. The soft and juicy brisket is what was extraordinary for me and was what I wished there was more of. I wish the pork ribs was juicier and less dry.. the meat wasn't tender to the bone and was quite chewy. I think this spot is a pricey spot for eating some barbecue but it was good to come here as a group. PS We wanted to try the dinosaur ris but they did run out, so if you want to know, I recommend calling ahead!

Bludso's BBQ was a solid 10/10. We had the Dino beef rib, brisket, pork ribs, smoked wings, chicken link, BBQ beans, potato salad, mac and cheese, and cornbread. Everything was flavorful, tender, and cooked perfectly. The Dino rib and brisket especially stood out. Definitely one of the best BBQ spots I've been to. Will absolutely be back.

This was my first time at Bludso's BBQ and it was exciting, because I knew of the chef! My family and I ordered a little bit of everything! My favorites were the beef sausage as well as the baked beans as the side. I thought all the meats were very tender and seasoned well. There wasn't a bad side dish either. Service was good, and I felt that the food came out pretty quickly, especially because it was so crowded there! If you're looking for a good BBQ place, I would definitely recommend Bludso's, and come as a group, so you can try a variety of stuff!

My boyfriend and I were in the mood for some good BBQ, so when the place we originally wanted to go to was closed, we decided to check out Bludso's. Let me start out with the positives, the ambience was laid back and there was a college football game on so it was quite lively. We didn't make reservations so we were told it was either a 30 min wait for a table or that we could sit at the bar or outside. It was too chilly outside so we sat at the bar, which was nice and comfy and our waiter was super friendly and attentive. In terms of the food, my boyfriend got their special $35 penny which included a choice of two proteins and two half pint sides. He went with the red hot sausage and brisket with Mac and cheese and Cole slaw. I picked off the menu and got the quarter pound of the pork ribs rack, the brisket, and the corn bread. The red hot sausage was probably our favorite thing we ate. It was a delicious and spicy beef sausage that I'd highly recommend. The brisket was decent. Pretty juicy and tender, and the corn bread with the sweet butter was delicious as well. Where it fell short for me were the ribs. The felt dry and not as juicy and tender as I'd hope. They also lacked flavor for me. Overall, not a bad experience but for $100 I'm not sure it was worth it.

As someone who's extremely critical when it comes to places claiming "Texas barbecue," I don't hand out praise lightly. After 32 years living in California, I can confidently say this is the best barbecue I've had in the state. We made the trip out today and tried the brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was unreal--tender, buttery, and perfectly smoked. The pulled pork was just as impressive, packed with rich, smoky flavor. But the real standout that had me doing a full eye-roll into the back of my head was the mac & cheese. Absolutely next level. The sides didn't miss either. The beans were delicious with a subtle hint of mustard that worked beautifully. The potato salad had a similar mustard note and was just as satisfying. The cornbread, paired with honey butter, was simple but perfect. We're finishing things off with banana pudding and blackberry cobbler, and based on everything else, I'm expecting both to be just as incredible. My son asked me what I'd rate it, and I'm giving it a solid 9/10. The only thing keeping it from a perfect score is the lack of traditional Texas BBQ extras--white onion, pickles, and white bread. It would be great to see those added to plates or available at a small fixings bar. Bottomless sweet tea? Delicious. Worth the drive? Absolutely--even if it's far for us. If you're serious about barbecue, put this place on your must-try list.

    * The brisket was pull-apart tender and deliciously peppery with no knife needed, while the pulled pork was smokey and flavorful; the barbeque sauce wasn't needed as the meats were great on their own, but it was tasty and tangy * The collard greens were very soft but still held their structure - mild flavor of the greens allowed the pork bits to shine; the cornbread was crumbly sweet and enjoyable * The baked beans were outstanding - very unique with a more mustard-based sauce covering incredibly tender beans, a must-try when visiting * Overall, a great spot for some tasty barbeque surrounded with a friendly atmosphere

$40 for this?! I've had great food here many times so I don't think this is emblematic of their service, but this was inexcusably meager. After this disappointment, I went and tried Moo's Craft BBQ for the first time, and it was so good (and generous with the servings) that I don't think I'll be going back to Bludso's again.

    Dinosaur Rib ($39) HUGE!!

This might honestly be some of the best BBQ I've had. I am in awe of how delicious and absolutely TENDER the meat was, especially the $39 DINOSAUR RIB that we got. I mean WOW - that rib must have been at least 5-10 pounds of JUICY, DELICIOUS TENDERNESS. We also tried some of the other meats including the brisket, hot link, and pork ribs. The brisket was really tender as well (although not as tender as the dinosaur rib) and the hot link was super spicy but really flavorful. The pork ribs I thought were solid but nothing too special, hit the spot though. I also ordered the hushpuppies side for $10 and they give you so many hushpuppies for the order! They were super crunchy as well and also very flavorful, accompanied by a mesquite BBQ sauce. I came on a Saturday around 1 pm and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very lively. About 3/4 of the restaurant was full and people were slowly trickling in throughout my time there. I would definitely come back on a Sunday for some NFL football. The bar would definitely be lit and they also have some good happy hour deals (not on Sunday though). There are giant TV screens and projectors all around you so there is never a bad view and you will be able to see every game on the TVs. The service was good as well and the server checked in on us consistently. I am so glad I decided to come here for some lunch. The food came out quickly and was extremely delicious. I have no complaints. Amazing experience!

    When does music start?

    No music is playing.

    Is there dedicated parking?

No there isn't dedicated parking. Check the surrounding neighborhoods!!

Can I please get some information on catering please ? For 85 people in Santa Monica

I would go to their website for catering information.

Does anyone know how they make their wings? I'd like to try cooking them at home.

They sell the dry rub that they use for their wings at the store. Hope the helps :)

Do they sell party trays of meat only? For like a potluck?

I'm not sure about that. You will have to check on their website.

How many people do the 1/2 and full pan of Mac N Cheese feed? The website just says 1/2 pint, pint, quart, half pan, full pan. Service sizes and anything else to know, would be appreciated

I believe it is +/- 20 to 25 people. I'd call them. (323)931-2583. They will give you the best answer. I can tell you it the real deal!

Is the brisket beef or pork?

    Beef.

Is there a crew that regularly gathers for Dallas Cowboy games here?

    What's parking situation like?

Street parking mostly, check behind the restaurant from the alley to see if they let customers parked there

Do they use any form of mustard to make thier bbq?

    Let me check

Are they open for dine in?

    Yes

Is there outdoor dining right now?

    Yes! There is

    Who owns this establishment?

Is this the same owner from Compton, ex corrections officer , just watched Guy's Triple D , would like to experience the BBQ ?

Are there combo"s or is everything individually ordered?

I order a la carte but they have large lunch and dinner trays that are meant to be eaten family style. No single portion combos though.

Do the meats come with sauce or can we request them dry? Mostly wondering about the brisket and pork ribs.

The brisket is dry rubbed no sauce. They serve it on the side!

I really love Bludso's at The Proud Bird near LAX, it is smaller with limited menu I think, so is the location leaps and bounds better? If so, how and why?

This location La Brea nice size Menu is limited. Atmosphere is GREAT.

What happened with the one in Compton? The last time I went they said they were closing for a bit to refurbish and hopefully start taking cards as a form of payment, since it was always just cash. And then they never opened back up.

According to news papers, they closed the Compton location because of a huge rent increase.

Do they have a happy hour?

Yes they do! Both food and drinks are available! If I remember correctly it is from 4 to 7pm.

    Is it pet friendly?

They have a patio, so I believe so in that area.

Soy Marinade Blue Prawn: My favorite dish of the night. Huge raw blue prawns (head attached) marinaded with soy sauce. Served with barley rice topped with Ssam jang (type of bean paste sauce), and seaweed paper. You wrap all ingredients in the seaweed paper to make a hand roll. Soooooo delicious. Can't walk out without trying this. 3. Beef short ribs: good but nothing unique in its flavoring . Beef steak(medium rare and super tender) that's lightly marinaded/glazed (so not overly sweet) with kbbq/short rib sauce. This is one of their fan favorites so I suggest you try it.. 4. Chilled Acorn Noodles: chewy cOLD noodles made with acorn (just like the acorn jelly side dish we eat). The noodles are seasoned with Korean Cho-go-chu-jang (Gochujang paste), crispy cucumber slices, loads of dried seaweed flakes, and perilla oil. And you just mix them all together. Sooo good and paired well with the short ribs. Incredible. 5. Bluefin tuna and trout Bibimbop: like a poke bowl but so much better. Rice at the bottom with loads of lettuce strips, bluefin tuna sashimi, radish slices, and cavier. Seasoned with Korean Cho-go-chu jang (Gochujang paste with a twist of vinegar). Very good as well. For drinks we tried the shikhye slush (shikhye is a Korean sweet rice drink dessert). They used a slushy shikhye base with warm cinnamon and ginger spices and pisco for a kick. Also tried the Sujinggwa manhattan which is sujunggwa (traditional Korean cinnamon ginger dessert tea served cold) and a single malt. This was fabulous. Overall fantastic experience. Food: Rice slushy had a strangely strong cinnamon-like taste to it that traditional rice punch doesn't have which was so overpowering, it made it difficult to go back for more sips. Oysters - good though small, enjoyed the kelp mignonette Korean Aguachile - Delicate tilefish completely overwhelmed by cold kimchi broth with actual icy slush in it and small amounts of fish Steak Tartare - The hot stone bowl seemed to defeat the purpose of a tartare, as it cooked the steak once mixed. The perilla leaves were also cut in large strips relative to the beef. Chilled Acorn Noodle - The perilla oil was nonexistent in flavor though the dish didn't need it and was good without. Overall, portions were small for the price and dishes weren't well-executed so despite being excited for more Korean options in West LA, I'd much rather make the drive to Koreatown for better portions, prices, and flavors.

For safety reasons, I personally wish they were separate--so ladies, I'd recommend going with someone just to be safe. You just never know. They also give you a little treat afterwards, which was a really nice touch and a sweet way to end the visit! Overall, I'd definitely come back and recommend it to others

It's not surprising given the neighborhood and decor, but I think they lean towards more Japanese spirits and beers. For someone like me who's never been to Japan I feel like there's a traditional Japanese theme going on inside with lots of wood. A few friends and I came here on a holiday before dinner. Happy hour specials were still going on. I'm not sure if they thought they were gonna get that much business on a holiday but I think there's only maybe one or two people behind the bar. Since it was early when we got there, it was still not that crowded. I got the special which was a shot of Japanese whisky and a beer. Great price! Haha. I've walked by before where this place is really crowded so I assume there's a lot more people working behind the bar during the regular busy hours. Just a great place to grab drink drinks.

No exceptions, as I witnessed a family who really wanted to come in but had an 18 yr old so they weren't allowed in and because they had a minor with them they couldn't even sit outside in their seating area. Always good to know. Inside the bar got super busy. The inside was a bit dark but again it is a bar. I like the decor and the bar seating was packed. The drinks were good if you like whiskey they have it along with lists of beer options. Nice spot to try out.

I had placed a phone order, for pick up; upon arrival, I found the service was prompt. I saw my food ready to go, just past the main walk-in area. Almost immediately after that, I was taken care of by the host and on my way. I've been waiting to try this place for ages so on the drive back to work I was excited to steal a piece of meat from the bag. Initial bite flavor was good, meat was tender just a bit on the chewy side.. I wasn't bothered by it too much as I'd have to leave it in an oven warmer at work. Trying to keep food warm, in doing so, I knew there'd be only two possible outcomes, melting tender or either tough & dry. So, the dish of meat and rice sat in the warmer for almost an hour hour and a half. The downhill slope.... Set the "meat " on the veggies and began to eat. Meat after meat, I kept experiencing the same exact texture. It was the same exact rubbery chew, I initially tasted. Each and every piece was the same exact flavor. There was no peak, there was no pitfall. If you cook or grill, you know this is a red flag. Normally, consistency would be a good thing, a Master craftsman type experience, but this was NOT it. As go on, I get the sinking feeling, this can't be real meat. I lock in, the deeper I dig, each piece looks the same, broken apart the same, tastes the same, just various shapes. They can call me crazy for this one - I'll stand by it. Something is not right here. I'm not even going to throw it away. I'm going to study it for the next few days and post an updated review. I hope I'm wrong but as of right now, I'll never revisit this place. Too freaky of an experience. We
