This place is SO GOOD! I just had it for the first time and it's now my new favorite chicken sandwich! "Bao Chick number 1!" On top of that, the service was incredible because the FREE SAMPLES on chicken! They are located in the back of a food court so there's plenty of seating, and dogs are allowed I believe! Plenty of sun and lovely patio-like ambiance. I'll be back once a week, see y'all there!
"No 1 chicken!" The owner (i presume) called out to me when I tarried to give the menu a look. Then he made the hard sell. "No 1 dumpling, no 1 chicken sandwich, no 1 everything!" A nod and a smile from me as I politely indicated I wanted to browse the other offerings but who am I kidding? He had me. Committed to the bit i made a half-assed round of the other offerings before coming back for "no 1 chicken." I was offered a dumpling sample which i accepted. It was good but hot enough to burn my mouth. Worth it! Anyway, i got the beijing wrap and it came with chilli powder and chilli oil (this shop owner is my kind of no 1 guy) and a rather generous wrap, filled with chicken at a reasonable price. The wrap was yummy. The fried chicken well executed and the service was memorable. This place is my number one, no 1 chicken place ;)

This was on our list to try since we saw it on IG. Glad we did today. It is located in like an outdoor dining hall in a corporate area hence we see lots of workers as customer. Maybe because that is their main client ale hence food was done quickly. First off as we approaching the place, they hand out chicken sample as well as dumpling sample. The owner (I'm assuming) introduce us the menu as #1, very enthusiastic, give out friendly vibe. In term of food, everything was delicious. The chicken sandwich was actually filled with two piece of thigh. The wing was very crispy and moist. It is still hot and crispy after 10 mins in a hot humid lunch day. The popcorn chicken portion is big. However, it deserve 4 out of 5 because the pieces are inconsistent. They also give you chili oil in case you want to spill it on your chicken. We would definitely comeback.

The owner is a super cool dude and gives you samples, because he knows how good the chicken is on its own. Portions here are massive and very much worth the price. The sauces/seasonings they use are absolutely delicious as well. Hoping these guys stay around this plaza for a while.
The chicken sandwich was crispy hot and tender. It was also a decent portion for the price. You can order through the kiosk or the person. A sample was also given for you to try while you decide.
10/10 every time. We've been here at least 6 times and the chicken sandwich is always so fresh and tasty. It's a huge portion!

Shrimp and pork had more filling, less broth, but still juicy. Skin was right too, not thick enough to feel doughy, not so thin it tears before it hits your mouth. If you're in Irvine and craving dumplings, this one's worth the stop.

I consistently find the food here to be exceptionally fresh. I particularly enjoy the fried chicken special for $10. The meal includes white rice, coleslaw, seaweed, and pickles.

Love this place because the xaio long bao is a big size. That server is so nice. The food is amazing. I love the fried chicken too. Great place for the kids because it is a big space. Love the ambiance!

I really hope Bao Chick takes this review into serious consideration because there was a lot I actually enjoyed about the meal. I ordered the chicken sandwich with a thigh and fries. The fries were great, the bun was excellent, and the sauce on the sandwich was really good. The issue was the chicken. The piece was absolutely ginormous, honestly the biggest piece of chicken I've ever seen in a sandwich. At first I thought that was a great thing, but unfortunately, the chicken was extremely stringy and difficult to eat to the point where I couldn't finish it. What really stood out is that I was with a party of three, and all three of us ordered the same meal and had the exact same experience with the chicken. I'd seriously recommend reevaluating the size and, more importantly, the quality of the chicken. Smaller, more tender pieces would make a huge difference. The chicken dumplings were the star of the meal. Super juicy with a great meat-to-skin ratio. The filling was very well seasoned, and the dumpling skin was thin but sturdy enough that it didn't rip easily. The wasabi fried chicken was also really good. Made fresh to order (about 15-20 minutes), and it came out extremely juicy and well seasoned. The wasabi flavor didn't really come through, but the portions were huge! Best service I've ever had. Before I even ordered, the guy working there gave me a sample of the chicken. I ended up ordering the Chicken Sandwich and Garlic Parmesan Fries. He also made sure we were eating everything with the sauce and seasoning that came with it. You could tell he was genuinely passionate about the food and took pride in the store, and that's what made the experience stand out to me and makes me want to come back. The portions were huge. Got Bao Chick takeout and it is a very unique chicken sandwich. The flavor is very good and the crunch is insane. Its also huge, the picture doesn't do it justice. Fries were also super tasty. One critique would be that the chicken still had the fat on it, which made some bites chewy. Overall I'd return and eat again! read more
Unbelievable!!! The best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had. I got the original chicken sandwich and I'm blown away. They give you the option of getting a breast or a thigh, which I thought was very unique! It was so juicy and flavorful and I'm not sure what the coating is on the chicken but even with the mayo the crunch held up nicely!! Now I thought my regular sandwich was big but oh man did we learn it's not! My husband thought the insane chicken sandwich meant it was spicy but no it meant TWO chicken patties on the sandwich! It was huge!!!! It comes with the same option of breast or thigh, however the original sandwich when you order, you have the option of how spicy you were like the chicken but the insane sandwich does not offer that which my husband took as confirmation that it was their spicy sandwich but it was not spicy at all. Just something to keep in mind! Still a great sandwich! We also got the grilled Bao & Pork and another 10/10! Again, the words flavorful comes to mind when describing these! If you're gonna come, I definitely recommend these as well as the sandwich! We made our meals a combo, which let us get the macaroni and cheese and the french fries. Nothing stands out too much about those two sides. They were very standard. Very good, but nothing very wow. Especially compare to the mains! The service was quick and easy. You come order at the self order kiosk or the gentlemen at the register, you get given a buzzer and you'll just wait. I would say that amount of time that we waited was only 10 minutes at most! This is just a small restaurant in a whole cafeteria, so keep that in mind when you go! It wasn't too hard to find seating but this place is definitely packed! Bao chick was a amazing found! Food was INSANE, portion was also INSANE! The seasoning was perfectly salty and umami, spiciness was not too spicy but the right balance. Spicy powder can also be requested on the side to adjust to your taste. The chicken sandwich was MASSIVE, the filet was larger than the buns itself. The fried chicken filet and popcorn chicken was crispy and not too much breading, every bite has the perfect ratio! Since it is at the foodcourt there are lots of seating and the area is super clean. After perusing the options within the food court, Bao Chick caught my attention. Rather than the fried chicken, it was the lamb soup decal (in Mandarin) by the stall that led me to make my lunch order. The Chinese couple running the stall were quite enthusiastic in getting people to sample their fried chicken. I ended up ordering the lamb soup ($16) and a large fried chicken fillet ($9). After paying at the counter and taking a pager, I got my order after another 5 minutes. The husband running the stall (I assume) explained, with the same enthusiasm as before, which chili oil was for the soup and which was for the chicken. The lamb soup proved savory and flavorful without being too heavy. It was a touch oily, but easily cut with the bowl of rice. The soup contained plentiful protein, from lamb meat to stomach and other offal. The fried chicken filet lived up to its name. The meat remained juicy and tender throughout, The breading was flaky and buttery. It had a softer texture to it. I quite enjoyed it, though I definitely was already full from the soup. Overall, I would not have expected a food court stall to have such delicious food, especially one serving both fried chicken and lamb soup. read more
Wow super impressed by this fried chicken/dumpling spot in Irvine! Located in a cute mini food court area, Bao Chick was one of the first to open and the dude who worked there was saying that he had #1 fried chicken wings and I was skeptical but intrigued. Ordered the wings, some XLBs and potstickers and didn't have to wait too long for them. Homeboy was right- these were some of the best wings I've had! Crispy crunchy piping hot juicy flavorful without being too salty. Also the dumplings were fire especially those juicy XLBs and the made from scratch potstickers. I've tried basically every fried chicken spot in OC and this has to be the best so far especially if you like crispy fried chicken. Best crispiness by far. The owner is nice and gives everyone free samples. He always says "chicken numba one!" And it's true. They have some other things but what stands out the most is their fried chicken, the portions are big for the price, and they have the biggest chicken sandwich around. Great value. Pictured here is the "crispy wings 4 piece". Which was what ultimately made me put Bao Chick as my top 2 best fried chicken spot. And it's not number 2. It's numba 1. read more

The wife and I decided to finally come check out this place. We ordered the chicken tenders and white rice. Let me tell you people, it was delicious, super crispy, portions were big. Milo was amazing, he did a song, a dance, and helped us by explaining their menu and recommended several different things, ultimately we went why the tenders and rice and it did not disappoint. Hidden inside the food court, this little Shanghai-style spot is an absolute gem! The owner is incredibly friendly and walked me through all of his specialties -- and I'm so glad he did. The lamb soup was a standout: super flavorful with tender pieces of lamb that melt in your mouth. The Shanghai soup dumplings were perfectly juicy, and the fried chicken wings were everything you want them to be -- crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. On top of the great food and warm service, the place is also dog-friendly, which is such a bonus. Definitely a spot worth checking out! read more

A Fun Food Court Find - Bao Chick! This little food court has all kinds of international eats -- definitely a spot I'll come back to try more places But today, I started with Bao Chick, and what a great choice! The owner (let's call him the Chicken Guy ) was super friendly -- he even gave me a free chicken tender to sample and chatted with me for a bit. Turns out, he's quite the talker and has a great sense of humor! He didn't know who "鸡排哥" (the Chicken Guy meme) was, but he speaks both English and Chinese, so we had a fun little bilingual chat I ordered chicken tenders, wings, and a fried chicken sandwich, and my kids absolutely loved them. My older one even asked if we could make it a weekly thing! The fried chicken isn't greasy at all -- just crispy outside, juicy inside, and super flavorful. If you like a kick, try it with their chili powder And here's the surprise -- they also serve soup dumplings and lamb soup! I even saw some locals ordering the dumplings. The xiao long bao were juicy and flavorful, and the lamb soup was rich and tender with no gamey taste at all -- I secretly finished it myself and didn't share with the kids The lamb was melt-in-your-mouth soft, and dipping it in chili sauce made it even better! We wanted to go to HiroNori but the waitlist was an hour long. So we ended up coming to this food hall. It's very casual inside. A few tables and a few places to eat. We all got what we wanted. We had a sample of the chicken. The guy at the front is passing them out to everyone! Mine was cold but it was still pretty good so we ordered the chicken. They made it fresh so it took some time for the food to be ready. Came out piping hot! I also ordered the garlic aioli which went well with the chicken. The spicy dipping oil and powder were also great! Highly recommend! Will go back! read more

I had an Uber Eats credit so wanted to try something new. I've always walked past this stall and always a happy lady and man, but i've never felt like chicken at the moment. Today i had the popcorn chicken. It's sooo good! I ordered spicy. Was seasoned perfectly. Came with another dry spice on the side. Sooo good. Chili oil tastes really good. And one typical chicken dip sauce kinda like a house chic-fi-a or somethint equivalent. Portion was great! I'll never get popcorn chicken at a boba shop again. I know this is fried but it doesnt taste greasy at all. The oil and the temp they mustve cooked it at was perfect cuz if not fried at correct temp it comes out dripping in oil. Im already planning my next visit with the boyfriend next week to try the chicken sandwiches. Support this place so it can stay open please :) read more

Bao chick...such a great name...but makes me think of funky disco music...not food... Makes me think of a song....it goes... "Bao chick a bao wow"! I have been to this food court a few times now. This booth is interesting. They have tried to reinvent themselves a few times. But I know this...they try very hard to get you to buy. I have only purchased one item when I come here. Xiao Long bao Everytime I have been, it looks like they are hard at work making dumplings, so I am guessing they are hand made, but I can't be sure. The dumplings are good....solid! Not heavy on the soup. Definitely more juicy than soupy. The flavor is good and has enough taste to get it again The main positive factor on these dumplings is the price. This booth has done a great job at keeping the price fairly reasonable. I will be back to try the bao and the chick...but if you see me walking up, dont laugh if you see me dancing... Ordered the teriyaki sandwich, beer battered fries along with grilled pork baos. The latter two were absolutely delicious. Loved how perfectly crispy the fries were and flavorful the dumplings were. I was extremely disappointed by the chicken teriyaki sandwich, however. I saw the pool of lettuce/ chicken juice as soon as I opened the box and knew I was in for a disgusting mess. The sandwich buns were completely soaked and soggy. Just wet all around. Not sure how and what happened to it in such a short period of time before I left the store to sit down and eating. Parking is free and easy. The service was prompt and very friendly. There are seats inside and outside of the food hall type area. I wouldn't mind trying them out again based on the experience I had during pickup and quality of other products I got to enjoy. read more

I was born in China, so I'd say I'm pretty confident in being able to judge a Chinese food. This is easily one of the BEST Chinese food in all of SoCal. I'm shocked they aren't more famous. Both times I've been here the owner (I think it's him) sees me and before I can even finish saying 你好 (nihao, hello) he's got a sample of dumplings in my hand. The dish I've pictured is something called Cold Lamb. A better translation would be "cold-prepared lamb" but don't let the name fool you, it will be one of the best things you've ever eaten. Huge portions of meat, slathered in chili oil, with sliced cucumbers and lots of roasted peanuts. Then there's the amazing chili oil dipping sauce and a dipping powder that Im going to be thinking about for weeks. This meal was about 30 bucks but it comes with so, so much food that you could easily split it between two people. Will definitely be coming here any time I'm at SNA! read more

Tried BaoChick back in Dec 2022 and had a great experience! However, I tried it again and my experience was a bit different. I'm thinking my experience was not as good perhaps because we ordered on Doordash. I'm thinking maybe the food would have been better if we got to eat it fresh. I tried the Original Chicken Sandwich, Nashville Chicken Sandwich, Garlic Parmesan Fries, and Grilled Baos with Pork. In terms of the sandwich, we found them to be a bit heavy and very greasy/oily. The crunch on the chicken was VERY GOOD and the chicken itself was tender/juicy. But it was hard to eat more than half of the sandwich as it was really heavy. I wish the Nashville sandwich was spicier too. The baos tasted pretty standard. The fries were good! I wish they were a bit crispier, but I liked the flavor! It reminded me of Potato Corner Overall, not my favorite crispy chicken sandwich! But I definitely think it would've been better fresh read more

Yes. All of our wings are bone in. Most of them are crispy crunch style. Also we have teriyaki and buffalos wings are grill style.
