The BEST part about this area is that it's right next to the bark barracks, which my doggo loves!! So I can bring her to the patio to eat outside thankfully after she hung out with all her friends. We liked the variety of themed spurs they offer on their menu here, and you can tell the quality of meats and veggies they use is not canned like other places. They also offer combos with soup or salad if you'd prefer. We paid $32 after taxes for 2 giant loaded potatoes, and they totally lived up to the hype. Service was quick and friendly, so no complaints there. The night we visited they had a loud gathering inside, and luckily it was much quieter outside by the dog park. We did look forward to coming back until there was a hiccup with exiting. The biggest gripe was with the kiosk to verify parking was down, so we got stuck at the gate for a good while until we used the QR code to pay $6 for parking, which should have been validated because it was less than 60 minutes and well within the 90 minutes time frame. We have been to this mess hall before to try other establishments, but I guess they implemented this new machine that reads your plates to know how long you actually stayed because people were probably taking advantage of parking and ruined it for the rest of us. With all this hassle, it is not worth a future visit unless they improve parking or move locations. If you have a membership or work near by, then it might be more worthwhile. read more

We've heard some things about this place and figured we'd try something a little different plus a melt sounded pretty delicious so yeah why not give it a shot! FOOD Soup n Melt combo. Clam Chowder for the soup choice & Chicken Melt for the melt sandwich. Great presentation and amount of food. Probably one of the better melts I've had as for the Clam Chowder. Very hearty flavor! I wouldn't mind ordering this one again but I'd try a different variation to switch things up! Soup n Spud Soup n Spud combo. Clam Chowder for the soup & Brisket Spud for the spuds. Description of the spud does not lie. It's definitely loaded and packed with flavor. You can tell that all the contents were prepared with care in every bite. And there's an abundance of brisket too! Definitely can't go wrong with the Brisket spuds but be sure to check out the other choices that they have to offer! OVERALL Glad we were able to give this place a try. I think if we're in the area again we'll stop by to try out the other soup and spud/melt variations. The hall is quite wide and open giving you plenty of breathing space with modern table seating that's great for small to large parties. There's plenty of parking and you will have to validate your parking pass so be sure to do that before leaving the mess hall. My aunt has been raving about this place for a couple weeks now, so I was so happy to try it. It was in a food hall that wasn't too crowded but there are a couple more food options to choose from. We got the brisket melt and the chicken spud. They ran out of tomato soup, but it was ok bc we were STUFFED. The brisket melt was SOOOO good! Omg i already want to come back and I kinda want to try the Surf and Turf which looks similar, but with shrimp and chimichurri. The chicken spud really surprised me as well! I loved how flavorful and herby it was. I usually wouldn't order this, but so glad we got it and would get it again too. We absolutely love this place. They are friendly and accommodating to all our allergies. My husband usually doesn't enjoy sandwiches with cheese, but he loves their chicken melt with mozzarella cheese on gluten free bread. He's obsessed!! It's located in an unassuming food court called the Mess Hall. The pros: The giant Idado baked potatoes are cooked to perfection. The portion easily will last two meals. There are other lighter options: salads, fresh fruit, soups and amazing looking grilled cheese sandwiches with lots of choices for fillings (will try next time). It's also nice to see they donate surplus ingredients to meals for those in need. The cashier and cook were very friendly. Opportunities: Most of the spuds come with pickled onions, which adds a strong sour/vinegar taste. Personally, I would customize my order in the future to leave those off. Thankfully, they allow customization. Another opportunity might be to offer a potato soup in the winter months. If you're craving grilled cheese then 100% go here. Food: I would highly recommend the grilled cheese with tomato soup. I have also tried the baked potatoes, clam chowder (their portion for the clam chowder is small compared to tomato soup), and the grilled cheese with brisket (good but not that much better than the regular grilled cheese). It does take 15-20 minutes to get your order but I think that's how they get the cheese melt so perfect. I will say we're disappointed the second time we went bc the bread was grocery store bread instead of the artisan/Texas toast style bread. This made the sandwich look smaller. The cheese pull was impressive, I had to use a fork like I was rolling up spaghetti to get the cheese the break. The person who took our order was very friendly. I will definitely be back to try the other stuff on their menu. One thing to note: the parking is a little atypical, you have remember your license plate number because there is a camera that records your license plate as you drive in and they validate for 90 minutes. You have to enter your license number at a tablet located in the center of the food court and when you leave they automatically see your license and open the gate (assuming it is under 90 minutes). read more
