Pinchy & Pals is a new Instagrammable seafood shop perched up next AMC at the District in Tustin. They offer lobster, crab, and shrimp rolls, and seafood pastas and soups. The place is cute and service is decent. And let me tell you - the fries are so crisp and delicious. With that said, I may need to give this place one more try because my lobster roll tasted strongly of the sea. Not in an inedible way, but not in the freshest, juiciest and plumpest way I dreamed of when I read the other reviews. Besides that, the brioche bread was incredible. If they served that as a butter toast at a bakery, it'd be a treat! I just wish that for the price of over $25 after taxes there were a bit more of lobster to give it that beautiful plump bite that makes lobster rolls feel satisfying. It may be the proportion of knuckle meat (near the shell, almost tastes and looks like shrimp) was maybe too high in this roll compared to the claw and leg meat. With that said, their dipping sauce was also excellent (and had me almost down all my fries while trying to diet...yum!). All in all, I loved the carbs at Pinchy & Pals. Tried Pinchy & Pals in Tustin and was honestly impressed. The lobster roll was super fresh, and the bread was crisp and buttery, which made every bite really satisfying. You can taste the quality, especially with the melted butter and lemon on top. My favorite thing on the menu was easily the lobster grilled cheese dipped in lobster bisque and the soy ginger noodles come with shrimp, onions, sausage, and more! This is a delicious and fast grab and go food spot! We tried several dishes to share, lobster roll, coconut shrimp, shrimp cheese seafood fries, and soy ginger noodles. The noodles were probably my least favorite, but the seafood items were excellent. The lobster roll was delicious and the loaded fries were really good. This place just opened up at the district right next to AMC. I have never had a lobster roll to compare this to, but the OG was packed with meat and flavor. During their soft opening this week, they are offering a buy one get one 50% off the rolls. The only downside was that I kind of was still hungry after eating one, and at $23 a pop, I wasn't going to grab a second. Partner was craving fish and chips so we saw this place opened up recently next to the AMC theatres. The interior was very themed with crabs, nautical stuff, and bright pops of color. We ordered lobster roll, calamari, fish and chips, and clam chowder. I think it's pretty reasonably priced compared to other places I've been. The food is really good and fresh. Well seasoned. The fish definitely had a unique seasoning to it and was very tender inside. We didn't even wait too long for the food and the worker was so kind about it. Gave us a lobster bisque for waiting. And honestly I would've never expected how good the lobster bisque was. Definitely one of the better bisques we've had. Totally worth checking out. There's a couple of tables to dine in. We had several issues with our takeout order. 1. They forgot to include the clam chowder we paid for. 2. There was a small piece of lobster shell in our meat - a hard thick piece that could have caused a major dental issue if someone bit hard on it. 3. This is a new seafood spot at The District with the best seasoned fish and chips I've ever had! This fried Mahi Mahi is so good on its own, that you don't even need tartar sauce, although it is served with it of course. And these fries are those beautifully beer battered crispy ones that you always want more of. The lobster roll, aka "Pinchy OG," is really good too! I know 5 stars for an ocean roach on a hotdog bun might be odd, but if you are a fan of lobster, then you know how rare it is to find a place this casual with good lobster! I got the "Spicy Sue" which is the Maine style cold version and my wife for the warm "Pinchy" one which is a Connecticut style warm version. They did not skimp on the lobster but of course, I wish there was more of it. The texture was nice and firm and oh so sweet. The spicy one wasn't too spicey which I guess is a good thing because it would be a shame to overpower the natural flavor of the lobster. At $23 for what's probably three bite for me, it's not something I would have too often but it's very tempting if the parking was a bit better. Their fries are coated with seasoning so that was good. In my never ending search to find decent clam chowder close to me I stumbled across pinchy and pals on yelp. I dare say my search is finally over; the clam chowder here is soo good! I also tried the shrimpy sam, pinchy OG and the pinchy's mac. I loved the shrimpy sam and pinchy OG! The mac and cheese was ok, I thought it was watery and not enough cheese. Maybe give it a good mix before eating it because I found all the cheese at the bottom later on. So there are two ways to order, the kiosk and with a cashier, I recommend ordering with the cashier if you want a drink because the kiosk does not have an option to order fountain drinks. I asked the employee about it and they said yeah it wasn't added to the kiosk yet. There isnt much seating on the inside, maybe 3 seats total but good thing about the location is you could totally eat outside in front of the AMC and water fountain. Also something I noticed is the floor was super slippery, freshly waxed possibly. It made the tables also super slippery, a slight push and it made the whole table move. My boyfriend and I had to be extremely careful not to lean into the tables too much otherwise it kept moving. I love the food here and I will definitely be coming back! read more
