Mama Ma's was a pleasant stop on my ongoing wonton soup quest. They didn't have exactly what I was looking for, but it turned out to be a welcome discovery of a tasty, casual noodle spot. I tried the beef chow fun and the wontons with chili sauce, and both were quite good. The chow fun had plenty of flavor, and the wontons were a nice addition. Portions were generous and easily enough for two people to share. I'm looking forward to trying some of the numerous other options on the menu. The restaurant itself is modern, minimalist, bright, and clean. There was just one guy working the front when I visited, but he was quick to acknowledge everyone coming in and seemed to have service at all the tables under control. I ordered at the to go kiosk, and the food came out pretty quickly. I'm still searching for that elusive wonton soup loaded with vegetables and meat along with the wontons, but I'll definitely be back to Mama Ma's when a lunchtime noodle craving hits. read more

Maybe I caught this place on a good day, but it was nice enough. My partner and I were in the area and wanted something above standard fast food, but we had shrimp and noodles, spicy pork, the classic beef and broccoli plus spicy cucumbers as an appetizer. It was all very good, but based on some other reviews I didn't really have other life experiences to compare outside of my Midwest upbringing - there was an inner-city Chinese restaurant where the owner chased a trouble maker away with a butcher's cleaver, but that can be for another time. The ordering was done via mobile phone off a QR code generated menu and the food service was prompt. The restaurant is newer quick food dine in so it was nice and clean. It's a in a strip center and more people seemed to doing takeout than dine-in but I'd go there again. read more

This is a newer restaurant in the University Park center. It replaced the Everafter Tea room restaurant. I would say the food is mostly northern Chinese style. We ordered the beef stir fried noodles, the pan fried pork buns, sesame balls, chive pockets and dry fried green beans. To me, the best dish was the chive pockets - it was nice and hot and newly fried though the inside flavoring was slightly bland. The pan fried pork buns were also relatively decent. In the beef stir fried noodles, the beef was underdone which is something I'm not used to in Chinese food. The sesame balls were not cooked completely through as the sticky rice part was white and should be translucent. And the dry fried green beans were really spicy (menu did not say it was spicy) and the beans used were tough and hard to chew. Ordering is easy, you can use the large computer pads to order in the front of the store or on your cell phone. Based on all the reviews I've seen, I'm not sure if the kitchen had an off day the day I was there. read more

There are plenty of parking spaces. You scan the QR code on the table to order. I got the Mapo Tofu (spicy), Beef Wrap Crepe, Beef Chow Fun, and Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice. Everything was so good and big portions. The Mapo Tofu was spicy and has a kick, but not too bad. Every other item was delicious and savory! New restaurant that replaced Ever After so I was curious to try them out. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was quite empty even though they have been opened for a month already. I got their beef roll and pan fried beef buns, both which had really good taste. I personally like my beef rolls with warm meat, but they have theirs with cold cut meats and more tendon than meat. The pan fried beef is good in flavor but the bun dough itself was on the thicker side. They were no longer doing the tea egg promotion but lady was kind enough to offer it still since it was only a few days since they ended. For the tea egg, they're typically a lot more flavorful but it tasted more just like a boiled egg. You can order directly by scanning QR code on the table which made it convenient. It did take some time for the food to come out which I hope they improve on given we were the only ones in the restaurant. Staff was friendly and the restroom was clean. Driving to LA, it's always traffic. We exited to get some drinks at Starbucks while waiting for the traffic to slow down before driving again, and I noticed there's a Chinese restaurant just opened next 2 doors down. The staff said they first opened May 10 , 2026 We tried their House special pork belly , Stir fried pork liver & kidney , and braised pork intestine , since it looks like everything is so tasty, we just ordered White Rice instead of the Fried rice. You also get a complimentary Tea Egg as a part of their grand opening. Everything had a good portion and they were delicious. Best braised intestines dish I've ever had! I ate the entire thing by myself in 5 min... we also got the pan fried dumplings which they make when you order so it's really fresh but does take a long time. They were also very nice! The owner is from the north so They specialized in northern dishes like noodles and baos but their main chef is from sichuan so that's why they also have great sichuan dishes that are really yummy! Casual spot for Chinese food with good portions. We really enjoyed the stir fried cabbage I liked the tangy flavor. We do not recommend the salty egg yolk shrimp - the salty egg yolk flavor was oddly sweet and milky and it looks crispy but it's mushy. The green onion pancakes were pretty good but lacked the green onion flavor and was pretty plain. Service was ok! It's self ordering thru app and self serve water, they don't come take away empty plates when ur done. I will say though that they have ALOT of variety and dishes so we may have ordered the wrong dishes. read more

For Irvine this is definitely one of the better Chinese restaurants! Casual and clean and we always dine in here. There is a QR code to order at the table or you can order up front or with the server. The food ranges from decent to terrific. Some things aren't as seasoned as I'd like but overall the taste is pretty good. I'd rather have food that is more bland and that I can season myself with chili oil or soy sauce, rather than food that is too oily/greasy and reliant on MSG. New favorite restaurant! First of all I would like to talk about my new obsession, Chinese tea egg! When they first gave it to me, I was actually put off. It did not look like something that I would enjoy, but I went ahead and took a bite out of it anyways and after that first bite, I have been in love with it! So much that I even learned how to cook it at home because this was amazing and they do give everybody one for free! Now their portion sizes are very generous! I've tried to streamed fish and wow, beautiful flaky, melting your mouth texture. The sauce on there is very good,not too sweet,not too savory, a perfect balance. I always try to go with a healthy option and I went with their bok choy. All I can say is good, standard, crunchy was still cooked all the way through. I've gotten their braised pork bowl and it's a great affordable lunch option. The port is so tender and soft and flavorful and they also give you half of a tea egg in the bowl. The service is very quick, but I will say they do bring out your meal as it's ready not altogether so I always end up getting a bok choy before my protein, which is OK but something to keep in mind! There are also very sweet and they will come around and give you water and check on you often. Restaurant is a very beautiful light bright light setting! Sometimes they are playing the TV sometimes they're not! If you do come into eat, this is a self seated restaurant! I was sad to see the previous restaurant leave however, this replacement is something that is new and improved and offer a better variety of dishes with a better more affordable price point, as well as faster service and the workers are a lot friendlier. read more

Very pleasant experience overall with attentive service and decent food, although some dishes were better than others. They didn't have hard copy menus, so you have to use the QR code and order by phone. I (and my kids) enjoyed the shrimp and eggs, lo mein and braised pork over rice dishes. The ones that w e thought would be more pan fried were a little bit of a let down mostly because the texture and crunch wasn't quite there, such as the potstickers, pan fried beef buns, and green onion pancake wrapped beef. Came here around 2pm on a Sunday and was able to get a seat immediately. Ordering was easy through scanning a QR code on the table which opens up an online ordering menu on your phone. Based on the other yelp reviews I was really excited for the Shanghai soup dumplings but was crestfallen when I saw it was covered up on the menu and no longer offered on the online ordering menu. When asked, the owner lady (who was really nice) said that they opened in early May and that they've been modifying the menu to add and remove items. I didn't ask why they decided to remove the soup dumplings but was definitely disappointed. I ended up ordering the pan-fried dumplings, steamed fish, and lions head meatball. My favorite was the fish which was tender, flavorful, and generous with the portion size. The lions head meatball was tasty and the broth, refreshing. The pan-fried dumplings could have been better if the browned crust was crispier. Overall this restaurant is a nice addition to this plaza and I will be back to try their braised pork which looked amazing. I wish the owner success at this location since this will be the 3rd or 4th restaurant to be in this spot since I've been living in Irvine (Ever After Tearoom and Class 302 being there previously) read more

About 3 weeks ago, I discovered this place while randomly scrolling through Yelp. I decided to give it a try because it had good reviews for a new place. Since then, I have visited once a week, introduced this place to a friend, and we both really enjoyed it! When you first walk in, the restaurant has a very clean and calm atmosphere with hints of its origin and culture. You can order take out via the Kiosk by the cashier, or you can seat yourself and order via the QR code. I've always dined in because the food is so fresh and delicious! I was able to take a few photos so enjoy those for now (maybe you can take your own photos if you can resist not inhaling it like Kirby & myself). *House Special Lamb Offal Soup: If you like lamb soup, this is a must order. The soup tastes so good and healthy (my favorite part). The meat is cooked well (chewy tripe texture, yum!) I didn't know that everafter tea got replaced by this store, so I stumbled on it by accident. Anyways it's a chinese place that specializes in soup dumplings and dumplings. The owner (I think) is super sweet and attentive, and the food is pretty decent too. The xlb I got was $9.99 which is much cheaper than ding tai dung, and the quality was pretty solid as well with flavorful soup and meat. The house dumplings were also good, so big ups overall - 7.5/10. The place itself is hella new and you can tell, basically nobody was inside when I went but if you want xlb without paying dtf prices you should try this place out. read more
