An absolute go to spot late at night. I can always guarantee I'll have the perfect noodle soup every time. Their service is quick and ordering is thru a QR code. I love how the noodles are chewy and thin. This is a neighborhood gem and I hope you get to try their awesome noodles.

If you're looking for a no nonsense fast email because you're on the go, Noodology should be added to your list. Specializing in spicy noodles and dishes, Noodology has a variety of different flavors, from golden sour noodle soup to mala, it will satisfy any numbing spice craving. I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup and it is savory, numbing and some depth. However, with the amount of oil used in each bowl, I feel like I need to have a sense of moderation. The fried tofu was a good appetizer to cleanse the pallet and the pig ears definitely takes me back. Nothing really "wow" but gets the job done if you're craving something spicy. Service is quick and the interior is on the small end. Located in the same plaza as four seas and dukes bakery, so there's generally plenty of parking.

I like this restaurant, but the to-go portions are honestly way too small for the price. The popcorn chicken was $8.99 for a very small bowl, and unfortunately, the taste wasn't that great.

I have been to multiple locations these past few years, and they used to only have various noodle dishes. However, this time we noticed some new fish hotpot dish and decided to give them a try. We got the spicy dumplings and the small fish hotpot served with white rice. They were both yummy. The fish hotpot is pretty spicy and came out burning your mouth hot, so be careful with the soup. It has fish fillets and some sliced spam with wood ear mushroom and cabbage. This dish went very well with white rice and is big enough to share between two people. The spicy dumplings is juicy and meaty on the inside. Overall, a solid dinner. The place has a typically Chinese restaurant vibe. Service was alright, we noticed the table that came after us got their noodle orders before our order was served. Maybe it takes longer to make the fish hotpot or something; I am not sure.

Really decent Chinese noodle place and they have a good variety of noodle dishes that are from different regions in China. Our server was very attentive and super nice. The only thing worth mentioning is the egg noodles are not your traditional egg noodles. I would say they are more like wheat noodles so that is something to keep in mind while ordering.

Came in for a late lunch, and the restaurant was pretty empty. The staff seated us immediately, a very family, friendly environment. Super welcoming! We sat at the open tables and got water, ordered online using a QR code as is common in many Chinese restaurants nowadays. We ordered the Huaxi noodles, one with rice noodles and one with noodles. We also got the Taiwanese Braise Beef Noodle soup with rice noodles. We got two cold dishes and a dessert, which was the pig ears, kelp salad, and brown sugar rice cakes. The food was all very filling and satisfying. The portions are the perfect size and we ordered a side of extra rice noodles since we were extra hungry. The cold dishes are at the front and can be requested up front. The rice cakes were very tasty too! The rice noodles aren't the best quality I've had but they satisfied a craving, and especially when they are rarer to find, we were happy. Left feeling very full and recommend checking Noodology out! Lots of parking, clean restaurant, good service, and quality food.

This place is located in a plaza with many other Asian options. You have to scan the QR code to order and that wasn't very obvious, so I'm letting you know. The atmosphere is very mom and pop with many booths. Nice and clean environment. We tried their noodles the original beef one and also the sauerkraut fish noodle, They were both really good with rich intense flavor broth, definitely on the spicy side. We ordered 3 side dishes and they were all very flavorable and tasty. Will definitely come back for a quick grab for noodle.

I can't believe I never wrote a review for this place. It's a no frills, order through QR, food comes decently fast kind of place. Pretty good option for a quick lunch (depending if there's a lot of people dining tho). I like the cold dishes that you can pick out, but it's a small portion of you compare to Spicy city that also does the cold dish option. Tried their seasoning offering which was dry beef noodle but it came out to be more like sauces noodle, kind of remind me of big plate chicken styled noodles. Anyways, the consistency in flavor is nice and you get what you expect (unless you venture out to seasonal items). Pretty clean place as well. They're always out of potato floss tho!

Small noodle shop in Irvine with bold, spicy Taiwanese flavors that hit the spot. Everything we ordered had great texture and spice, and the portions were solid. Spicy Dumplings: Get Soft dumplings in chili oil that had a good kick and lots of flavor. Great way to start the meal. Dry Pork Noodles: Get Really comforting. Loved the mix of minced pork, scallions, and egg on top of springy noodles. Braised Beef Noodle Soup: Get Super flavorful and rich. Comes packed with meat, veggies, peanuts, and a broth that has heat and depth. The space inside is small but cute. Pretty casual and chill, though not ideal for big groups. Service was fast, nothing fancy. I'd definitely come back for another spicy noodle fix. Food: 8/10 Service: 6/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Value: 6/10

We've visited Noodology several times. Overall, the food quality is still good and that's the main reason we keep coming back. However, there are a few issues that make the experience less enjoyable. There is no menu anymore--everything is through a QR code. Personally, I find this inconvenient because the characters on the phone are too small, making it hard to order. I need to ask the staff to order the food for me. The restroom was not clean and had a noticeable smell. I hope the restaurant can improve by cleaning it more regularly.

The food is REALLY good and spicy. Been here twice and it's essentially Sichuan because my mouth is numb (not all dishes, I just choose dishes that are spicy). Service is spotty... if you are seated in the back area like I was the first time, they didn't come by at all. (You order off a QR-code and then send the order online.) The second time, we sat right by the cashier so we got water refills much more and checked in on. Otherwise, small family business restaurant. Located in a small plaza with decent parking.

Any gluten and soy free options?

They have some rice noodle dishes which are GF

I was thinking of ordering takeout but I saw a review mention that the staff do not wear masks. Have you noticed if masks are being worn while preparing and packaging our food?

The last 2 times that I have ordered takeout during COVID I saw staff wearing masks both at the register and while preparing food.

    Do they offer outdoor dining?

    Yes

Is Noodology open for takeout during the COVID outbreak? I've tried calling multiple days without any luck:(

I drove by yesterday and they are closed. I wish they had updated yelp website. I think they are closed until 4/15/20

    Any options for vegetarians?

No. All the soups are made with beef broth and have beef or seafood. But you can try to ask the noodle soup only without the meat

What type of broth base are the soups and is there a vegetarian option?

I believe they have beef broth; maybe chicken

How long is the wait usually during lunch hours?

15 min tops but you can check in on your way in:)

    Are the soups gluten free?

Menu says rice noodles, plus at least one photo shows glass noodles. Best to ask restaurant personnel.

    Are there any vegetarian entrees?

Yes there are. As long as you order meat-free you're good.

It is also surprisingly affordable. Both Orange County locations I have been to (the one in South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa and the one in Jamboree Plaza in Irvine) are sadly in very busy areas. It can be annoying to find parking and/or wait in a long line just to sit down and eat. Thankfully, the food is so good that I will go out of my way to eat there, even if it means having a super early lunch to avoid the typical noon-to-1:00 p.m. lunch crowd. The main thing I love about Marugame is its surprisingly large amount of udon options. You can get the softer-tasting broth or the stronger-tasting broth called BK broth, which is generally my personal go-to because I think it has a more savory yet smooth flavor. There is also a surprising amount of customization, from basic choices like a regular or large size, extra noodles, and whether you want the typical Sanuki-style toppings of tempura flakes and green onions. There are also options like curry udon, beef udon, pork-broth tonkotsu udon, and, more recently, rice bowls. That said, one of my favorite things about Marugame is the number of tempura options. These do not come with the udon, so you generally have to pay roughly a dollar per piece, depending on the type of meat or vegetable you get. For example, the standard tempura choice, shrimp, costs around a dollar each. Thankfully, the shrimp are fairly long and thick, with great batter and flavor. There are also other meat options, such as squid, along with plenty of vegetable options like zucchini and onion. If you are someone who eats out often and likes rewards programs, Marugame has a mobile app where you can earn points toward things like a free Spicy Bomb, extra noodles, or extra tempura. I definitely take advantage of this. Just make sure to either order through the app or save your physical receipt so you can upload it to the app. Overall, when I want great, specialized udon and tempura, you cannot go wrong with Marugame Udon in Orange County, whether you choose the South Coast Plaza location or the Jamboree Plaza location.

While I never thought Capital Noodle Bar was the best noodle joint that you could find in/around Irvine, this place was always so tasty and convenient! Even though they weren't our favorite place, the times we stopped by Capital Noodle Bar was usually on our way to/from the airport for a quick bite. Not only was the restaurant large (snagging a table was never an issue), but our food (typically) came out relatively quick. In addition, their menu was stocked with so many delicious options. It felt a little more Malaysian than Chinese to me, but, regardless, their collection of appetizers, dim sum items, congee, noodle soups, stir fried noodles, entrees, fried rice, and rice plates was so enticing, we couldn't help but come back to try more and more! -- HOT SAUCE TRAY I know it's kind of weird to mention this, but I love their dish of hot sauces. In particular, their jalapenos and chili oil go well with everything we've had here. -- CRISPY TOFU This may not have looked quite like what I had expected, but this was pretty good! The tofu was pillowy soft and piping hot while the outside of it was surprisingly crispy, given how it's not really battered. -- WONTON NOODLE SOUP - Pork & Shrimp Wonton, Egg Noodles We got this as part of their weekday special ($12 all-day, dine-in only), so I'm not sure if the portion size is any different. Either way, this was great. The wonton skins were a little thin, but each piece was plump and juicy, the noodles had a nice bite, and the broth was solid. -- CHAR KWAY TEOW - Shrimp, Chinese Sausage, Bean Sprouts, Egg, and Large Rice Noodles I've been on a bit of a kick ordering this whenever I see it and this was one of the better ones. The noodles were cooked really well (very bouncy), the dish had a slight kick yet it wasn't overly salty/seasoned, and the dish wasn't overloaded with beansprouts. -- SPICY GARLIC CALAMARI Ehh...this wasn't "bad", but it was definitely underwhelming. Although these were seasoned well and had a nice crispiness, the calamari itself was chewy and reminded me of the generic type you get at most other Chinese restaurants. -- TRIO OF BEEF NOODLE SOUP - Sliced Tenderloin, Beef Ball, Beef Stew (Beef Shank, Tripe, Tendon, Carrot), and Egg Noodles I was super hopeful for this one, but it turned out to be just okay. For me, the ingredients tasted fine, but the portion seemed a little light on the beef shank and the broth needed a bit more body to it (felt a little thin). -- CRISPY HAINAN CHICKEN - Deep Fried Dark Meat, Pickled Vegetables, Ginger Rice, Soy Sauce, Ginger, and Chili Sauce Not very traditional, but no less delicious. Boneless Hainan Chicken is appealing enough, but fried, too? While I wish there had been more of it, each piece was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The ginger rice was quite tasty as well! -- WAGYU BEEF POSTICKERS Pretty standard, though, not necessarily in a bad way. Although there wasn't much of a browned bottom/crust on these, I love how big and plump these were and how the filling had a nice, beefy flavor to it. -- HONG KONG STYLE CHOW FUN WITH CHICKEN, Seasonal Greens, Carrot, Mushroom, Egg, Gravy Sauce, and Large Rice Noodles This was just okay for me. The dish had a good ratio of vegetables and meats to noodles, but the gravy didn't do much for me - there was so much of it, it felt more distracting than additive. -- MANGO GREEN TEA Surprisingly, this wasn't nearly as sweet as I feared it would be. The mango flavor in this wasn't super intense and went well with the green tea. Along with how satisfying most of Capital's dishes have been, the other thing that I liked about this place was the staff. Every time we came here, the workers were always friendly and really attentive, even despite how they usually only had one server working. That being said, it has never been all that busy either, which might help explain why their closure. As genuinely bummed as I am to learn that this place has closed, it should be said that it's not like Capital Noodle Bar is gone forever. If you missed your chance to try them, or just want to eat here again, they have another location in Costa Mesa that's still open and just a short drive away. And, as it turns out, it's even closer to the airport, so our pseudo-ritual of stopping off can continue to live on. Thanks for the memories, Irvine Capital Noodle Bar!

Because the drink I originally ordered ran out, the staff person kindly gave me an extra Hokkaido Milk Tea for my mom. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too sweet. I couldn't place the sweetener, but we both liked it. I'd love to go back and try the other noodle soups.

Terrible fake Chinese food…read more Spent over 20 bucks for this meat fried with chili. Meat is not fully cooked, and they taste like boiled meat. Extremely salty. The beef that's in the noodles is boarderlne spoiling. The fried dumpling is not even what the description is. In Chinese fried dumpling, they only pan fried the bottom. In this place, they put the dumpling deep fry, and it doesn't come out crispy, it comes out soft. If you go here, only order their cold noodles. Do not order anything else because everything is terrible. Some of the worst money I've ever spent.
