Tender and wing combo + cheese balls (bburinkle and hot bburinkle flavors)
    Jasmine Z.

After seeing this spot all over social media and hearing so much hype about the brand in Korea, I finally stopped by early Saturday morning. We ordered the mixed chicken wing and tender set with half traditional Bburinkle and half Hot Bburinkle. We also ordered the Bburinkle cheese balls and a side of Bburing dip for $1. The sweet undertones of the Bburinkle powder weren't really for me. It tasted like an umami sweet cheese, which was a bit off-putting. The Hot Bburinkle has a legit kick that builds up over time, which was nice if you like spice. Bburing Dip: The yogurt-lemon dip threw me off the most. It's meant to pair with the chicken, but the flavor combination felt really weird to me. Cheese Balls: The outside was soft rather than crispy, and there wasn't much melty cheese inside. Located inside the Hmart food court. The place got busy pretty quickly, so the dip was initially left off our order, but the staff quickly provided it when we asked. Overall this place just wasn't my preference for Korean fried chicken. Glad I tried it, but probably won't be back.

If you're unfamiliar with BHC Chicken they are the No.1 Fried Chicken chain in Korea and this is there first OC location after successful locations in K-Town/Carlsbad. This location is opened in the food court of the Alton H-Mart. Its completely kiosk ordering and they have disabled online orders, for now. This maybe because they just grand opened last Friday but we came in for dinner with a small line at exactly 7PM. OMG be VERY aware you literally need to wait at LEAST an hour for your food if you ever even get it! They really need to post a sign warning patrons of the LONG wait time or post estimated times like boba stores! There is a timestamp on your ticket number and they literally call one number every 15mins it seems with no idea how longer you need to wait. The food court and H-mart closes at 8pm and the food court area closest at 8:45pm with security literally kicking people out! Our total wait time from 1 hour 43mins! We literally clocked it based on the timestamp and they ran out of food and sauces! We had ordered 2 orders of the #1 combo with the bburing sauce and the other with matcho King sauce. We only received partial order missing all the sauces and half the cheeseballs. At least the manager refunded everyones orders but this is completely unacceptable for any business. They need to improve there workflow or continue staff training especially during peak rush hours or by word of mouth people will not return to this location! At the very least POST estimated order times! If you're rushing at lunchtime with a 1 hour lunch break you absolutely in the dark and likely won't make it. Is the chicken good? Yeah its tasty especially with the Bburinkle powder which is a sweet cheesy profile. You do get abit tired of the flavor profile especially with the combo since its on literally every time. If the wait is over 30-45 minutes its absolutely NOT worth the wait time! But its a crapshoot on the wait time so your schedule better be free. You're literally better off and faster to drive to K-town to get your BHC chicken fix if you must. Or come back in like 6-12 months if this place is still here and see if they fixed there workflow issues. For now its NOT recommended unless you're ready to wait at least 1-2 hours for your order if at all. Yes people behind us didn't event get there there food and just left with a refund after waiting almost 2 hours since security was closing the building. Alot of very upset customers for sure.

Do not dismiss BHC Chicken. I wasn't expecting much when my daughter wanted to go here. I thought it was just another Korean fried chicken joint, good but they're all pretty much same same after awhile. She got the cheese balls and the fried chicken wings. One, I really like that they give you the tips of the wing too! Second, the flavor, wow the seasoning was so so good. It was like smoky bbq with a hint of sweetness, I don't even know. Just delicious! And their, and just as important as the taste is the texture of chicken itself, It was very juicy like it was brined prior to frying! My daughter loved everything!

Since it's their grand opening, there's probably a bit of grace to be given as they work through the initial rush. You can see the large backlog of orders being prepared, even though there wasn't a line at the counter, which made the expected wait a little deceiving. It took about 40 minutes to receive a #1 combo, which includes a few chicken wings, fries, cheese balls, and a canned soda. The food arrived hot, but a few of the wings were mostly fat rather than meat so that's disappointing. They may have been trying to rush orders or overcrowding the fryer. The seasoning has a noticeable sweetness to it, and everything is very generously coated, so expect your hands to get sticky once you touch it.

BHC Chicken is a new Korean Fried Chicken spot that just opened up in the H-Mart Food Court located off Alton. I chose to go with the 8pc wings and 5pc tenders combo which will cost you $26.99. I chose their most popular flavor (BBurinkle) which is a special type of cheese dusting, and chose to add their most popular dipping sauce (Bburing) for an extra $1.00. Luckily, I went when it wasn't peak hours, so there was no line, and the food came out relatively promptly. As for the food itself, I thought the chicken was really crispy and not dry on the inside. The BBurinkle seasoning is not bad, reminds me of Cheetos, but a better version of it. However, the Bburing sauce really compliments the Bburinkle seasoning well and I would recommend pairing it with the chicken. Overall, it's pretty good chicken, but probably wouldn't wait an hour or so for it if I had to.

Came to try during its grand opening! I'm not sure if it's the style of the fried chicken or if it was under fried, but the batter was kind of soggy, and the chicken wasn't crispy at all. I got the signature bburinkle flavoring and it was SO sweet. I've had Korean style, cheese-flavored foods before, but this was really sweet and not enjoyable. Overall, you order through a kiosk and staff were nice. Wait wasn't bad either and it's located inside a food hall of HMART!

One of my favorite Korean fried chicken from Koreatown LA just opened in Irvine! It's hidden inside the new HMart on Alton. There were so many people there already for its grand opening, which was a really great sign. They're known for their SUPER crispy crunchy chicken, and you can get it topped with their special bburinkle seasoning which is like a cheesy powder. If there's one thing you must try, it's this--trust me. Thanks for reading! ^-^

I saw this place pop up on social media. It's Korea's top fried chicken chain (aka KFC) so I was curious. It's also their grand opening so the service can be hit or miss depending on the time of day. When we walked up there were only 2 other parties ahead of us. We ordered an order of hot fried chicken tenders, an order of hot bburinkle wings and made it a light combo (adding fries + Coke). We were given a number and waited for our order to be ready. You need to listen to the constant intercom calling out orders between the different food places in the food hall. It's a little monotonous and you might tune out if you're not aware. We actually got up once to ask and apparently the wings take longer than the boneless tenders so we still waited a bit before they were done. We also missed our number being called so my husband was a little upset about that. I had gone to the register to ask again and our order had been sitting on the counter. The chicken wings were hot and steamy. The hot bburinkle is a spicy cheesy powder, like hot Cheetos, so it had a kick. It paired well with the Ranch dressing. The hot fried tenders were crispy and a bit dry. The fries were soggy. At that point, we just let it go. He was hungry and tired so we ate our food. It was just okay. Not healthy fare but maybe a once in a while thing. Our favorite KFC is Furai Chicken and BB.Q Chicken (both in Irvine). BHC did not hit the mark for us. IYKYK.

I just finished eating the chicken here. I got a #1 combo with 5 wings, fries, and cheese balls. The combo is just blasted with so much of the powder seasoning. It's way too much and I only recommend if you like it sweet since the powder is very sweet. Also with this place just opening the wait to get the food is immense so prepare to wait over 45 minutes to get your food. The chicken itself was just okay and nothing to write home about. The best thing about this place is that they have a wheel we spun to get a free small tote bag which is nice. Definitely come and try it but just be aware of what you want since you might order incorrectly.

BHC is a counter service Korean Fried Chicken shop that makes crispy chicken tenders and wings. I personally am a huge fan of Korean chicken and had to try this place out. It's located inside the H Mart at their food court. I had to try a little bit of everything so I tried their Combo number 1 which comes with wings, cheese balls, fries, dipping sauce and a drink. You can order from a kiosk or with a staff member and wait for your order to be picked up. It does take a while so be patient as most Korean fried chicken usually takes about 15-20 mins to ensure it's fully crispy and cooked. Everything is served in take out bags and to go boxes. The wings are covered in the sweet cheesy powder seasoning. They were crispy and nice, so were the fries. The cheese balls are simply breaded mozzarella balls that goes great by itself or with any sauce. While I enjoyed the first few wings, I started to realize that I was starting to get sick of the sweet flavor of the cheese seasoning. The cravings for Korean fried chicken can be a real thing but it is my preference to have regular, or original style with the seasoning or dipping on the side. So would I crave this place? Maybe... but more than likely not as much. It is certainly above average, so in reality if there were half ratings, I would give it a 3.5 stars.

The food service was quick but the tenders are the thinnest i have ever eaten. It was like a piece of fried paper. And they were also sold out of coleslaw when we got there first thing in the morning. I got the classic tenders and they were super bland. Will not be coming back

Which, quite fortuitously, also happened to come along right after discovering The Buffalo Spot while poking around online. More than convenient timing, to be honest, but I wasn't complaining, as I had never seen a place that specializes in buffalo chicken before. I just wish the experience had turned out better. Inside, this place is somewhat akin to a fast food type of restaurant, but so much cleaner. Unlike your typical KFC and Popeyes, this place actually felt super tidy and didn't have the smell or feel of grease. As for the menu, the aforementioned buffalo chicken is their specialty and comes with varying levels of spiciness and seasonings. However, it's not the only choice to have either, as they also offer a handful of non-buffalo options, such as Lemon Pepper, Garlic Parmesan, BBQ, and plain. So, whether you tenders, wings, fried chicken sandwiches, salads, wraps, or one of their sides, they have a range of flavors for different tastes, as well as a vegetarian option (cauliflower), too! -- CHICKEN CAESAR WRAP with Original Hit Buffalo Chicken, Romaine Lettuce, Parmesan Cheese, Croutons, and Caesar Dressing...$11.49 This is what drew me here, but it was kind of a miss all around. While I was definitely happy to see so much chicken in this, I didn't care much for the taste of it, which was heavy on buffalo sauce. What's more, the wrap wasn't very tight, so the whole thing fell apart just a few bites in. -- JUMBO CHICKEN TENDERS with Cajun Seasoning...$5.99 It's on me for not clarifying beforehand, but we thought this was Cajun seasoning instead of buffalo sauce - not both. Thankfully, the blue cheese sauce helped offset how tart the flavor was, and each piece was decently large and moist, but it was more okay than great. -- CLASSIC DELUXE CHICKEN SANDWICH with Garlic Parmesan Chicken, Lettuce, Tomato, and Pickles...$7.49 On the plus side, both the garlic parmesan sauce on the chicken and the house sauce they drizzle on top were pretty good. On the other, the random shreds of parmesan were awkward, the bun was very dry, and the piece of chicken was notably smaller than the bun. -- FRENCH FRIES & FOUNTAIN SODA ADD-ON COMBO...$4.46 Ehh. Like with the chicken, you can choose a seasoning and I thought the Cajun one was pretty good - a little spice, but nothing crazy. Yet, somewhat surprisingly, the fries weren't very crispy and the inside was a little starchy. As much of a bummer as it was that the food was so underwhelming, the said could be said for the service as well. Not in the sense that the workers were rude or anything like that. Rather, it's just that, despite how there weren't any other customers around, they still estimated it would take about 15 minutes for our orders to be ready. Granted, it's possible there were mobile orders ahead of us, but it seemed unlikely given how the worker in the kitchen stood there watching us, waiting for our order to get put in so they could start working on our food. Between how neither of the buffalo chicken flavors did much for me and how the Garlic Parmesan one tasted so much better, part of me can't help but think the non-buffalo flavors (or that I'm not as big of a fan of buffalo sauce as I used to be). Given that, I wouldn't be entirely opposed to coming back, especially since we didn't try the wings. Even then though, based on what we've tried, I wouldn't be in a huge rush nor would I get my hopes up very high... TWO AND A HALF STARS rounded down.
