We ordered the three-beef combo (around $140+), and the quality of the meat was excellent--definitely the highlight of the meal. Wow!! I celebrated my birthday here with my friends today! It's a Tuesday, and we were served by two amazing waitresses who were incredibly kind and provided top-notch service from start to finish. Highly recommended! Their combo sets are the perfect size for groups, and the price is unbeatable. The quality of the meat was outstanding. We ordered the Daechang (Large Intestine) and Gopchang (Small Intestine) combo, and the Medium size was so generous that it left all of us completely full and satisfied. Great service and food! Their short rib is the best. I always order the marinated version. I also love their steamed egg and you can order with extra cheese on top. So yummy! Their tofu soup comes with big chunks of tofu and tastes so delicious. To me their tofu soup is better than other places that specialize in tofu soup. The lunch pricing definitely makes a great value for a nice restaurant in Irvine, but unfortunately the menu doesn't include any of their grilled specialties so not sure how their actual grilled dishes compare. Food itself was good, but not unique. I got the beef brisket soft tofu stew and soy sauce chicken rice bowl. The tofu stew soup spice level could not be adjusted, so they'll give you water to dilute if it's too spicy. The chicken in the rice bowl was on the sweeter side but the meat itself was very tender. The banchans were unique, a good taste that you don't usually get at other Korean restaurants. Service was good, but it was also a weekday lunch without many people so not sure how it'll be during a lunch rush. This place is a really good mid-range bbq place -- by mid-range I'm defining price and expectations ... It's not a super cheap AYCE-stuff-your-face place and not a super high-end place you might end up spending 4-figures on ... I've never been to a place that partially cooks the meat before bringing it out ... But the results speak for themselves! It's great! The meat tasted great and it was all cooked perfectly. The servers did a great job of really taking care to make sure the meat was cooked just right and then took it all off the grill for us. My family of four tried Gooyi92 for the first time and had a pleasant experience. The restaurant is not big but a decent size. The server was very friendly and nice which made it more enjoyable. Everything tasted fresh and yummy, and the price was reasonable with the combo deals. They also have lunch specials during the week. The server cooked everything for us, and it was nice to just enjoy eating without having to worry about cooking the meat ourselves. My favorite place in Irvine. I'm not even joking. The servers are always really sweet and get you seated quickly. The music is usually some piano cover of modern songs so it's fun to guess. We got the stir-fried pork, soft tofu stew with noodles, cream udon, lunch soy sauce chicken rice bowl (all $11.92) and a bunch of complimentary banchans. My 2.5 yo is extremely picky, and her food pyramid looks like pasta/bread/rice (much more than) broccoli (more than) meat. And yet, when we took her to Gooyi92, she'd feed herself with the meat that we cut up into little pieces for her, and asked for more. So that should tell you right off the bat the quality and taste of the food here. This place isn't too far from home for us, and is situated in a plaza that we frequent for a couple other restaurants. But eating in / Kbbq hasn't been on our radar much since post-pandemic, until an old-time friend came visiting recently and mentioned that they'd like kbbq food. So we checked Yelp and decided to try this place out. Long story short, the fact that we returned within a matter of weeks should speak volumes to how much we enjoyed our meals here. But, getting to the meat of the review (pun intended) - we ordered the meal sets so we could sample a number of different meats. The presentation of these on the cutting board and the cute grills was excellent to start. I was immediately drawn to the great color of the slightly tarred but raw meat. And then they grilled and torched it to perfection on your behalf worked well for a large party because they could be grilling on the side -- to avoid the kids -- and then bringing the cooked food on smaller plates to the center of the table. My picky 2.5 yo had to fight her meat-loving big brothers on getting all the pieces. I liked the marinated ribs but really they were all excellent. OK, if you want Korean barbecue, but not your typical Korean barbecue yet have somewhat of a show, this spot is unassuming and will blow you out of the water. Our entire table was on fire... the steak is so super juicy and soft. I love all the side dishes and I felt like they have really unique side dishes like chives. Found this spot while we were nearby. Opted for it over baekjong. Probably should've gone to baekjong. The large intestine (daechang, large entrail) was okay. They start the cooking off for you but when I tried flipping the less cooked sides, m The plate didn't really get hot enough or stay hot enough to evenly render the fat on all the pieces. The prime ribeye was a total joke. Super tough. It says USDA prime guaranteed. Maybe it wasn't meat but the way it was cooked? The risotto tasted like it was made with creamer powder but to be honest, I liked it. The steamed egg was alright. I didn't try the creamy udon that was at our table, but it was all eaten so presumably decent. The feedback on the tartare at our table - one person liked it and two didn't love it. I didn't try it bc I was a bit turned off by frozen pieces and bits of ice. Yukhwe isn't my jam normally anyway. I appreciated the assortment of banchan that was a step above the usual tofu house type selections. The service was good and friendly. The inside was cozy. However, I saw that there were 11 options for $11.92 lunch specials (one per person, 11am-4pm every day) and was curious to try. Delicious! Most of the meat is pretty top quality (except the first one in the set had some chewy pieces). However, the overall experience and the short ribs are amazing! The staff are super friendly and accommodating. They cook at the side of your table and make it very entertaining (better than hibachi grill places). The place is a little pricier, but comparable to Kang Ho baekjeong. We brought the entire family (party of 12) and they were very accommodating. We called ahead and they welcomed us when we walked right in. The sangria is really yummy and light. I didn't prefer the creamy udon but we got it for the kiddos and they were fine with it. The kids also really enjoyed the pancake banchan. Definitely a great spot to bring the family when they're visiting from out of town. My parents were impressed and they rarely are.
