I have been coming to Baekjeong for a couple of years and just now have gotten around to writing a review. Words cannot describe how awesome of an experience this is for couples, families, and groups of friends. We recently came in and had Khue wait on us, and while we have had great servers in the past, he truly took it to the next level with the kindness and attention to detail in explaining questions we had. The food here is to die for, and their selection of Korean beers is pretty great as well. We will be coming back for years to come. 10/10 read more

The meat was fresh and high quality and the service by Mark and Presley was fast and efficient. They came to check in on us each moment they could and refilled our side dishes in a timely manner. The hype is real! After hearing so many people rave about this place, I was able to finally try it out for myself. It did not disappoint. Came on a weeknight for two and did not have to wait (major plus). We got the small beef combo, which our server mentioned was good for two. I preferred this option because I typically eat mostly beef at kbbq, and specifically the brisket. Also came with marinated boneless short rib, and choice of ribeye or boneless short rib (we got the ribeye because it already came with the marinated short rib). Let me tell you - this is QUALITY. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. The corn cheese and other side dishes were also good. Got a side order of Hodong Ramen as well, but it was basically just a pack of instant spicy ramen noodles, so I wouldn't get this again. Been thinking about going back ever since, and might have to make another trip real soon. The quality of the meats is consistently excellent, and they offer a fantastic variety of banchan (side dishes) that are both fresh and flavorful. Went back again since moving closer to this plaza! I have to say the staff and service is over the top. If you're waiting for your table you can grab drinks by the bar and wait. The meat quality can be a bit different depending on the cut/and time but they're willing to change it for you as long as you're good with the right pieces. I would say 2 people get the combo and you'll have plenty of good! It's a place to drink and hang out with friends not so much a place with family and kids on weekends! Warning...don't over-order! Family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids)...the marinated combo (small) should have been enough. We ended up also getting ramyun, fried dumpling, marinated galbi, and steamed egg. Waaaay too much food. The marinated combo was plenty of meat for us. The banchan side dishes are nice, especially the sweet potato. Service is great. This is one of a few Baekjeong's, located in Irvine. The experience is great from what I can tell, Frank was such a good server for our table! The ambiance and atmosphere is definitely just a laid back and casual type of establishment, but the meat quality and service is top tier. I've gone twice now and tried different combos from the menu both times, and both didn't disappoint me in quality and juiciness. Besides the combos you can get, which all have great meats, they have a variety of appetizers, such as beef tartare, kimchi pancakes, and more to choose from, as well as a lunch box, which was pretty good and they shake it for you to mix everything. I'd definitely recommend trying Baekjeong if you're looking for a slightly more elevated version of KBBQ where you have the meat cooked for you. Have been wanting to try this place and finally went today! This kbbq place is not ayce but the portions are really big! With all the bonchon which were never empty because they get filled so fast, Khue was friendly and cooked everything perfectly! We were so full by the end and would definelty come back! Wow. The best kbbq in all of OC. Pretty expensive but so worth it! The meat is always tender and the portions are amazing! I enjoyed the beef brisket and pork jowl the best. The server is always coming by to check on our grill meats. It was basically table side service for cooking. Prefacing this review by mentioning we visited due to the new Resy partnership - had it not been for that i'd have been a lot more disappointed for the price. Not a terrible experience, just not worth it overall. Food (2/5) - the set menus are a bit underwhelming so we ordered some a la carte items that are pretty staple like beef tongue, short rib, beef belly, and even sides like the hot stone bibimbap. presentation was superb, but unfortunately the best thing we ate the entire night was the banchan (can i buy a jar of the kimchi here? why are all the sides so good lol) the server overcooked the meats a bit and even ones we snagged early were a bit dry and flavorless. the grill features trays to hold cooked egg, corn cheese and cooked meats which is super neat but they overcook fast. nothing stood out on the menu to order that didn't seem insanely expensive, and what was supposed to be staple items were not worth the price either. Service (3/5) - Service here IS fast and they do a great job zipping around cooking for everyone, food comes out fast too. Docking points here and also ambiance because I had to ask the poor servers to repeat themselves a thousand times because of how loud it is in this place. Am I at a nightclub or a restaurant? I can't even hear the people at my table talking, that's a bit excessive. Also we didn't get napkins until like 15 mins into our meal Ambiance (3/5) considering what's mentioned above being a bit ridiculous, the overall setup of this restaurant is great. Comfortable, spacious booths with great ventilation. Huge dining area laid out well, no cramped spaces and the bar looks nice. Just need to consider a key concept of going out to dinner with people is not only eating but also socializing, which I can't seem to do with a live concert happening above my table. parking sucks as this plaza is a bit stacked with popularity. We ordered the small Hodong's Favorite combo for two, and let me tell you -- the word small is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. It was SO much food. We actually ended up taking a good amount home, which honestly felt like winning the KBBQ lottery. Every cut of meat we tried was delicious. Super flavorful, great quality, and cooked up perfectly on the grill. But the real surprise star for me was the soybean soup we picked. Wow. It was insanely flavorful -- rich, comforting, and one of those dishes where you keep going back for "just one more spoonful" until suddenly the bowl is gone. The staff also deserves a shoutout because they were fantastic. Super attentive, friendly, and quick to help with the grill and anything we needed without ever feeling intrusive. The brisket, boneless short rib, and marinated short rib balance each other. I've tried the ribeye, but the short rib steals the show every time. Their soybean soup is a must--it's the perfect palate cleanser between bites meat. And the corn cheese; it's the ultimate comfort side that rounds out the meal. Starting December 2025, they're finally accepting reservations thru Resy, which makes me love this place even more. Our friends insisted on KBBQ and wanted to come here. I avoid these huge, busy mega plazas especially at peak time but we didn't want to be annoying so we came with them. I've been to many Baekjeong locations in the US as well as overseas and it no longer seems worth it for the price since more and more places are offering more premium cuts of meat. The plaza is incredibly busy with people driving like crazy and blocking others waiting for a parking spot. Be very careful if you have small children and you come during peak times. The restaurant can also be up to a 2 hour wait. The unique thing is still the air vent which you can bring very low and the trough of steamed egg and corn with cheese that circle the grill. We find that the air vent looks like its working great but you will inevitably leave smelling like meat. The staff will cook your food for you but because of this they also seem stressed and have to move around tables to tables and keep monitoring how everyone is doing. The meats were good and the seafood pancake was in the higher tier for quality but the price was hard to justify for what we got. read more
