Hodong Beef and Pork combo. Great quality meats and great service! thanks for hooking us up Mark

Haven't been to a Baekjeong in such a long time. Used to go to the original one in ktown 3 times a week when lived in LA, lol. Old friend from out of state was in town, so wanted to treat him to kbbq before he left. Last time he and I had baekjeong together was way back in 2013 in ktown, so we were way overdue but since he was in the Irvine area gave this location a try. One of our other mutual friend who did not join warned us about the quantity not being like before. I guess prices have more than doubled while quantities have shrank, but that's compared to when I was eating it all the time over a dozen years ago, so wasn't too surprising for me. Reservation was for 7:30pm for 4 people. We ordered a large beef combo & added a pork belly (which was my fav back when I used to eat it so often). Friend ordered up Saero soju, which was my first time trying since I haven't been going kbbq or having soju for so long. It was smooth with no burn, so I learned something new! We ended up downing 4 bottles of it, before going back to his hotel to cap the night off with martini. Our server Kyle was an expert at grilling and service, 5 stars for him. All the meats were grilled perfectly and we just got to enjoy with the saero flowing freely. Food was pretty good, 4 stars. I love the pork at baekjeong, but friend was trying to cut down on the fat, so we went beef, lol. The evening was going well and to prevent friend from paying the bill, I ordered up the 4th saero and paid the bill before eating the marinated beef that was grilled last. But shortly after, some manager guy showed up asking if we were done or needed anything else? Still need to open up the 4th bottle and eat the final marinated beef chunks? He seemed impatient to kick us out, explained he had people waiting for tables? 1 star for the unnecessary rushing. It was like 9:10pm and I looked around and there were empty tables around us, 2 empty right next to us and another empty one next to the people adjacent to that? My elder friend got very pissed and was getting ready to call the manager back, but we were able to calm him down to not make a scene. Either way, I felt rushed to hurry up and finish the bottle and just get out of there by 9:30pm. Walking out, there were several other empty tables on the front area too, so it was confounding why the manager wanted to rush us out when we still had a bottle and beef to finish. And of course there was no people waiting outside to get seated, it's not like the original baekjeong in ktown 6th st back in the day when people from Irvine came up to line up for 1~2 hours late in to the night. Never once had issues back then, in fact got serviced extra soju by manager when we were there to eat and drink for long time. Maybe baekjeong grew too big and forgot about the superior food and service when it was just one location. Definitely the last baekjeong visit for us. Guess I had my fill (way too much, lol) of it back in the original baekjeong days anyway. Plenty other kbbq places to try next time friend visits again.

Ordered the Large Combo with brisket and short rib for 3. It was enough food to share, and the quality of the meat was worth it. The banchan was solid. I especially liked the crunchy kimchi and cucumbers, and they also served radish and rice paper to eat w the meat. Unfortunately no fish cakes. They included complimentary cheese corn and steamed egg with free refills, along with two different salads, so there was plenty to eat to cut the grease from the meat. The staff handled the grilling for us, which made the meal much more relaxing. They were attentive despite the rush. The brisket was incredibly tender, while the short rib was juicy and full of flavor. They cooked the marinated short rib over a mesh grill, which gave it a nice char and subtle smoky flavor that really elevated each bite. The house sweet dipping sauce paired well with the meat, but we also asked for sesame oil with salt, which gave the beef a more classic Korean BBQ flavor. Having both options gave us the variety we needed. Overall, this was a great Korean BBQ experience. The quality of the meat, attentive service, and well-rounded selection of sides made it a meal I've come back for time and time again.

This place always slaps. Great quality meet and really good ban chan. The waiters usually do a good job but unfortunately, I had to only rate this 4 stars cuz we did come in kind of late, but not closing and they were trying to rush us a bit, understand they had to do that to close but I also think they shouldn't try to close earlier than the posted time. Nonetheless, they are nice enough to us but yea, don't generally liked to be rushed. Perhaps it's just that night staff? Idk. But still great place to have quality Korean bbq.

Went on a Sunday around 6 PM and waited about 55 minutes for a table. Once we got seated and ordered, the food came out pretty fast, and our servers were really nice. The only downside was that the whole experience felt really rushed. They cooked all the different meats in our combo within about 15-20 minutes, so we were basically done eating only 30 minutes after being seated. While we were still eating, they brought us the check and a to-go box without us asking, which made it feel like they wanted to turn the table over as quickly as possible. The food itself was delicious, and the quality of the meat was really good. My only other complaint is the portion size. We ordered the small beef combo for $87 (recommended for 2 people), and for that price, I expected a little more meat.

Had a great experience here! It was my first time at Baekjeong and I had heard great things. We made a reservation online easily and came for an early dinner on a Friday night. The restaurant wasn't too busy at the time. My husband and I ordered a small of the Beef Combo. With all the sides, it was a lot of food for 2 people. We ended up finishing everything, but we were STUFFED and didn't get to really eat much of our kimchi soup. I think the small would be just about perfect for 3 people. The meal was DELICIOUS from beginning to end. The star of the meal was the brisket! The quality was top notch and was some of the best brisket I've ever had. Then we had ribeye which was also great, but in an odd way, didn't feel as KBBQ-y to me. The meat quality again was top tier, but just wasn't what I was looking for. The final marinated meat was really delicious too as it was sweet and smoky. I actually wish I got the pork + beef combo instead so we could've had brisket and pork belly (instead of the ribeye). But no big deal! Guess we'll have to come back lol I loved allllllll the sides. The kimchi was fantastic, the spicy cucumber, the green onion salad, the other salad, everything was so good and fresh and flavorful! It really helped cut the fattiness of the meat. Service was great too! It was clear our servers were keeping an eye on us cuz as soon as we finished our rice paper, they'd refill it. They cooked our meat super quickly too! Great service Overall, such delicious brisket. Brisket with rice paper and veggies and some kimchi/cucumber was a bite of heaven OH WE WILL BE BACK!!!

While I don't usually get very excited to try chain restaurants, I have to say - most chain restaurants don't serve up Korean BBQ! So, as the likes of GEN Korean BBQ and Baekjeong have slowly expanded their footprint, I knew immediately I had to try them! Everything I had heard about the two was overwhelmingly positive and, thankfully, GEN did not disappoint. However, I was even more excited to finally try Baekjeong - in no small part because I've been a huge fan of Kang Ho-Dong from all of his Korean variety show appearances! Inside, the restaurant does have that chain sort of vibe, especially compared to the neighborhood Korean BBQ spots I'm used to eating at in SF, but it makes sense, given how Baekjeong is an international chain. Regardless, I love how the decor is fashioned after night market eateries in South Korea. As far as their offerings go, while they do NOT have an AYCE option, the menu still has more than enough to choose from. If you're looking to BBQ, their pre-set meat combos likely offer the most bang for your buck, but you can always order a la carte from their selection of beef, pork, and beef offal. In addition, they also have a terrific mix of appetizers, rice bowls, rice dishes, noodles, and stews. -- BLUSHING BLOOM - Casamigos Blanco, Guava Syrup, Agave, Lime Juice...$16 Saw this listed on a card by the bar (it's not on the menu) and it wasn't bad. The pour of Casamigos was actually decently heavy and had a bit of a punch to it, but I wish this had a stronger of guava to it. -- KOREAN MULE - Tito's Vodka, Soju, Lime Juice, Ginger Beer, Fresh Mint, Pear Syrup...$15 Of the two cocktails we tried, this one was definitely better. For the most part, it felt pretty close to a traditional mule, but I loved what the taste of the pear and soju added to this. So good! -- SEAFOOD PANCAKE...$19 Not as good as others we've had, but no less solid. While the pancake was crispy and had a good amount of green onions, it did feel a little lighter on seafood than I had expected, as I would've loved more octopus, shrimp, etc. -- HODONG'S FAVORITE COMBO - Thinly Sliced Brisket, Boneless Short Rib, Pork Belly, and Marinated Pork Steak...$79 (small) Although this wasn't our first choice of meats, this was actually really good! Sadly, the marinated pork steak was just okay, but the brisket was super flavorful, the short ribs was juicy and well marbled, and the pork belly was so luscious and delicious! -- HODONG'S FAVORITE COMBO - SOYBEAN STEW Nothing amazing, but no less solid. The stew had a nice consistency to it (not watered down), was rich in flavor, and felt a bit hearty, as it had a fair amount of veggies in it. -- MELLOW MELONA MOCKTAIL...$9 This was actually so good! The drink as a whole had a decent taste of melon to it, but it was reinforced well by the melona bar, especially as it melted down. A nice, sweet way to cap our meal! Unlike most other Korean BBQ joints, one thing that's different about Baekjeong is that the workers here actually do all of the cooking for you (not just when they're bored or to move things along). Great for the obvious reason that your entire group can just eat and relax, but you're also at the mercy of how attentive your server is and how they only cook one meat at a time. Luckily, our server was pretty quick with getting our meats grilling immediately and was also really friendly, even if the small talk felt a little awkward and forced. In addition to how everything tasted pretty solid, the other thing that I liked about Baekjeong is how the quality of the majority of the meats was pretty good, as well. In particular, the boneless short rib and pork belly looked impressive, especially for a chain restaurant. Between all of that, how the cocktails have a surprisingly strong pour, and how the food comes with a pretty good value, I'd come back to Baekjeong in a heartbeat, even if I wasn't quite as blown away as I was by other BBQ joints I've been to. Plus, I love how strong their vents are, as we walked out of here without smelling the least bit smokey! All in all, FOUR AND A HALF STARS rounded down for now.

Baekjeong is a chain restaurant straight from Korea that features al a carte authentic Korean barbecue. Their sides are all so delicious! The kimchi is very flavorful and fresh and the pickled radish is the perfect add on with the meat. The staff help you cook everything so you don't need to do it yourself. Khue was an AWESOME server!! Huge props to him and I hope he gets some great recognition for his hard work. He was so attentive and kind and told us how we can pair our meats to taste extra good. I haven't had an experience at Baekjeong quite as great as this one. Thanks Khue for making this experience special! I also want to give big props to Hailey who took over after Khue was off for the day. She was super awesome and helped us pack our leftovers at the end as well! Big thanks to the awesome staff at Baekjeong!

They cook for you and everything was cooked to perfection. The sides are always filled once asked and plenty is brought to the table. Tried all 3 mocktails and they were all good, but I liked the watermelon one the most. Parking is fairly easy. Music is great! Khue and Hailey were very attentive and thoughtful. They made sure we were taken care of.

Came in today for some amazing KBBQ, and I couldn't help but notice how incredibly friendly and attentive Frank was. His passion for the food really elevated the whole experience! The food was outstanding, the vibe was so fun, and I already can't wait to come back. This time we tried the cheese fried rice and the cold noodles, both were an absolute 10/10!

Food: we ordered thinly sliced brisket, boneless short rib, and kimchi pancake! Our classic order, the meat quality is so good! The boneless short rib is perfectly marbled Service: we were helped by Mark and he was amazing! Super on top of it and fast! Ambiance: very busy on a Friday night! So glad we made a reservation on resy ahead of time

We love the cheese corn, good spot to celebrate

Been awhile since we last came here. Meat quality is good. Service also super friendly and they grill the meat for u. We also really like their radish paper so we kept asking our server for more. Bless her heart for always giving us a bunch. A bit on the more expensive side but I guess it's fine for the meat and service. It's nice every once in awhile when u want a little treat. Good for small groups to eat and hang out.

Everything was high quality but some items stood out among the rest. Mac and cheese--fantastic, loved it! Banana pudding was probably one of the best if not THE best I have had. The pulled pork was decent, but nothing too special, the rolls... I really should have grabbed about 46 of them to be commensurate with the meat consumption: note to self to smuggle a baguette and some mixed greens in to balance the meal next time! The chicken had an incredible flavor with the perfect amount of spice and sauce to complement the juicy interior. Brisket was excellent as expected, and the sausage had all kinds of unique and interesting notes in there--almost too much to identify but I was loving every bite. Finally the dark horse was the char siu marinated brisket--the clear winner, even for my father who is a die hard barbecue fan of the "classics". Truly mouth watering and marinated to perfection. I MUST know how they do it because wow I have been dreaming of it ever since we left.

That said, while the menu appeared to be a whole lot narrower, they still had a decent selection of offerings to choose from. Along with their nearly twenty different sides/snack dishes, which include items like pig ears with chili sauce, cucumber salad, chicken wings, wontons in chili oil, and tofu skin salad, they also had BBQ meats, like Roasted Duck, Soy Sauce Chicken, and Char Siu, a mix of rice and noodle dishes, and combination plates of their BBQ meats over rice or noodles. Sadly, though, no crispy skin roast pork, which was a huge bummer. -- SWEET FRIED CORN Admittedly, this initially didn't catch my eye, but I'm glad we ended up trying it. Every piece was crispy and I liked how sweet and flavorful the corn was. Plus, it was how this wasn't all that oily, though, I wouldn't have minded a bit more batter for some added crunch. -- WONTONS IN CHILI OIL Not too shabby. Although the skins felt a little overcooked, each piece was fairly plump and I thought the filling was pretty tasty. It was also unexpected to see a bit of broth with the chili oil, but it had a nice flavor to it and just the right amount of spice. -- TWO BBQ ITEM RICE PLATE with Char Siu and Roasted Duck I was the most excited for this, but it left me feeling conflicted. On the plus side, the bowl had a fair amount of both meats and the duck was really good - really juicy and the skin was golden brown. On the other hand, the char siu was super fatty and the rice was mushy. -- DICED GROUND PORK ON RICE...$13.99 More solid than spectacular, but still satisfying enough. Like with the BBQ plate, the meat to rice ratio favored the former and I thought the egg and the veggies complemented this well. At the same time, I wish this had more sauce to it, as the pork look a little dry/pale. In addition to how convenient it was to come here (there was a steady crowd, but it never got packed inside), I appreciated how fast our food came out. Also, I'm not sure if we just got lucky, but it wasn't nearly as hard to find a space in the complex's parking lot as it seemed it would be. Between all of that, the food being decent, and the relatively friendly service, Frank's BBQ & Noodles wasn't bad for some Chinese BBQ. However, it definitely could've been better, especially if Roast Pork had been one of their offerings!

I feel like a yelper that's been living under rocks. Can't believe I never heard of this place…read moreuntil I recently saw my fellow yelper Van D's review. This is western BBQ with an Asian flair. I think the flavor is better and slightly less heavy than a traditional American BBQ. Everything was so packed with flavor, can't really pick a favorite among so many great proteins. Smoked Brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender with a nice smokey taste. Green Curry Sausage was definitely unique with a really nice Thai infused flavors. Was slightly spicy with strong green curry and lemongrass flavors. Canton Bowl, which comes with smoked pork belly char siu, siu yuk (pork belly with super crispy skin), and coconut rice, was excellent as well. The siu yuk was really good with super crispy/crunchy skin. House-made BBQ sauces were quite good. I really like the gochujang bbq sauce. It has decent amount of heat with a sweet & spicy taste. The regular house BBQ sauce has a tangy, sweet taste with a very subtle heat. It's located at Cottage Industries. Not exactly sure what to call it. It's somewhat like a small community of restaurants and shops with a garden and a play area for kids. Parking is very limited so will most likely need to park on the streets along residential area. Service is minimal. You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer to let you know when the food is ready. Seating is only available outside in the covered patio area but you can also pick any of the community tables and chairs within Cottage Industries.

The staff were friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. The food was OK, I was pretty excited to try BBQ with an Asian Panache. I got the bowl that came with one out of four choices of meats, to which I chose brisket. Cornbread with butter, coleslaw, and a side of rice. Unfortunately, the brisket was a bit disappointing because it wasn't tender and pretty dry. It tasted pretty good and paired with their gochujang bbq sauce made it taste better. I also asked for a leaner cut of meat but my meat were really fatty. I liked the cornbread and their butter was really good! The coleslaw was ok and the rice was dry with pork bits.

Finally tried Wood Ranch at Irvine Spectrum after walking past it so many times…read more Like a nicer version of a Lucille's lol. We started with the guac & chips and buffalo wings, then shared the BBQ combo with tri-tip, brisket, fries, and coleslaw. The tri-tip was definitely the winner, so tender and flavorful. The brisket was good, but after having Texas BBQ, it's hard not to compare. The coleslaw was actually a surprise because it wasn't the typical creamy slaw and had a nice crunch from the peanuts. Also, the chips were fresh! The service was so good too. Our server kept checking on us and never let our drinks get empty. They also had the World Cup playing on the TVs, so it's a great spot if you want to catch a game or watch other sports while you eat. The salad was okay. The broccoli was completely inedible. It was overcooked and chewy like it was reheated several times. The salmon was dry and not seasoned well. And the sauce was way too sour. My husband got the Tri-tip, Roasted Broccoli & Corn on the Cob. The Tri-tip was also so dry! With no BBQ sauce on the side. It took him forever to eat it. The broccoli was also overcooked and inedible like mine but the corn was decent. The best part of the meal was honestly the complimentary bread. However, I will say the service and the waiters were great! Just highly disappointed with the food.
