They give the birthday person a free soju bottle and the only requirement is that you take a photo/video of them drinking and post it on your social media! Great pocha in Irvine! This place is very neat and orderly, one of the cleanest pochas I've ever been to. We were seated and served relatively quickly. The food was delicious even while sober! We got the Gochu Maneul chicken and whole grilled squid. The chicken has an exceptionally crispy outer and was packed with a lot of flavor. The squid was good, nothing special to note. The Seafood chive pancake had great flavor, but not as crispy as I was hoping. It leaned a bit mushy in texture. The Stir-fried udon with brisket noodles were bouncy and chewy, which I loved. Super satisfying. The Gochu Maneul chicken was crispy with a nice tart marinade that really stood out. My only wish is that they offered just wings or drumsticks instead of a whole chopped chicken. The Pork and squid bulgogi stir fry tasted spicy and packed with flavor, with generous portions of pork and squid. It was delicious but wish it weren't soaked in oil. Super flavorful with a great char and smoky flavor on the cabbage, onions, pork, and squid. Everything was coated in a rich sauce, and it all came together really well. Everyone in our group agreed this was the best dish of the night. Beef Tofu Soup - A solid tofu soup with a good amount of tofu and beef. My only wish is that it came with rice since it's served as just the soup. Kimchi Fried Rice - Unfortunately, this was the only miss. I loved the presentation with the melted cheese, but the flavor fell flat. It lacked that distinct kimchi taste I was expecting. Overall, will be coming back. We ordered bunch of different things but since most were spicy I could only enjoy the kimchi rice, the chicken which were both very good. Also the shrimp with veggies was ok. It's always fun to make the diy rice balls by mixing all the ingredients up and making it into bite size balls. They give you a glove so your hand doesn't get dirty. The grilled intestines dish is very flavorful and garlicky. It's one of our favorite dishes here. The fried chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They give you an entire chicken. The flavor is a bit lacking even with the pepper and salt mix they give you but it tastes delicious if you dip it in the grilled intestines sauce. read more

Hanshin Pocha is a fun and cozy late night spot to grab food and catch up with friends. The DIY rice balls were interactive and enjoyable, and the boneless fried chicken was a standout, staying tender on the inside and crunchy even later into the meal. The cheese pork BBQ was really good at the beginning, but as dinner went on the cheese cooled down quickly and became harder to eat. The tteokbokki was my favorite dish with a slight spice from the gochujang and it doubled perfectly as a dipping sauce for the fried chicken. We went later in the night so it was not very crowded, which made the atmosphere feel relaxed and inviting. One downside was service, since our table of three only received one water pitcher and it ran out about halfway through dinner. We ordered the Boneless Fried Chicken, which was fried perfectly and seasoned well, and the Clam & Mussel Soup, which had good flavor in the broth but very small clams & mussels. We were able to get seated fairly quickly for a weekend night. The service is fairly minimal and they rely mostly on the call buttons on the tables. The food came out with decent timing and the portions were on the larger side for most of the dishes. The Kimchi Jeongol was my favorite thing that we ordered. The spice level was moderate and the noodles were a good choice. They added to the overall experience of the dish and made dish even better. It was enough food for about 3 meals and I added more noodles to it after I took it home. The donkatsu was crispy but wasn't as exciting in flavor. The price is on the higher end for the food, but it was still an enjoyable experience and the food was decent. read more

It was crispy, sweet and just a bit of a kick. It was very good. Second fave is the japchae with flavorful and chewy noodles. Yum! The rest of our order was just ok. There was only 1 server and we had to look from her to get our bill. But she was friendly and nice. We would like to come back and try other items in the menu. The plaza is so quiet at night but the vibe of the restaurant invites you into a different space. If I think hard about it, I'm in Korea lol. More than enough for four people, absolutely DELICIOUS. That jjampong fed 3-4 people TWICE. Our order was delayed but upon finding out, the staff immediately apologized, gave us free soju and made sure we got our food next. The budae jjigae had a really flavorful broth and got even better as it cooked. The steamed egg was super soft and comforting, and the cabbage fried rice was surprisingly addictive -- simple but really tasty with great wok flavor. The assorted fried platter was also done well, crispy on the outside without feeling too heavy.
