The fried chicken was crispy with solid flavor, and the kimchi soup was surprisingly well-balanced. It's flavorful without being overly salty (a common trap when places want you to drink more). We also tried the Korean-style omelet (name totally escaped me), but it was like an omelet with ketchup and ended up pairing surprisingly well with everything else. Came here on a rainy night around 6pm. The restaurant was pretty quiet, except for the music playing. We ordered a couple of Sapporo drafts, kimchi jeongul, mandu w/corn cheese and kimchi fried rice. The jeongul was pretty big, with pork, spam and sausage, and not too spicy (I am a spice wimp). the mandu (dumplings) in corn cheese was the perfect food to go with a beer. My husband said their kimchi fried rice (which comes with cheese and egg) is his fave kimchi fried rice ever! You pretty much had to push the call button in order to get any type of service, which was fine with me (though it seemed kind of odd since it was such a quiet night). We arrived on a Saturday evening around 7 PM and we were easily seated for our party of two. There was no wait and several other tables available. It's dim inside and plenty of music playing. Service was ok. Our server was not that friendly. I think she wasn't having a good day. Use the service button at the table. We decided to splurge on fried foods and got the whole fried squid and fried chicken with garlic sauce. I liked the little bits of red bell pepper and thin slices of Serrano chili peppers mixed with the sauce in the chicken. We really enjoyed the tender squid and flavorful chicken. We washed it down with some beef tofu soup. The soup was on the sweeter side and not spicy at all. If we get that dish again, would ask them to make it spicier if possible. It does not automatically come with rice or any side dishes. That's what we were missing tonight, but that's OK. Excited to have a restaurant in Irvine that opens later than 10 PM. I am hoping the clams were fresh, because the majority of them had sand. The broth on the other hand was clean, light, enjoyable. We paired this with corn cheese and it was more sweet than I anticipated, but it was good. Probably better if paired with something more savory. We were bummed to learn that they no longer have the happy hour deals advertised on their IG page. Pricing was still fair. We really liked the ice blended mango makgeolli! Was my first time having this served in a traditional bowl. We ordered the kimchi fried rice and chicken fondue. Would order it again! There are dividers between tables, which gave us a bit of privacy--something we really appreciated. The serving sizes are generous, and the servers were very attentive throughout our visit. A standout moment was when I accidentally left my sweater, and one of the staff members ran out to return it to me. That kind of service deserves recognition! We ordered the spicy mussel soup, which had a nice level of heat and flavor in the broth. However, we were a bit disappointed with the mussels themselves--they were very small and lacked taste, as if they had been previously frozen. The squid was delicious, but it didn't quite look like the picture on the menu--it came out looking a bit small and underwhelming presentation-wise. The grilled gizzards were a surprising hit. This spot is located in the Quail Hill plaza where there is a good amount of parking spots. Inside, they have a pretty spacious setup with a good amount of seating. Wifey and I stopped by for a late dinner around 9pm and were seated after about 15 mins. For their menu, they have a great selection of different Korean comfort food staples ranging from soup stews, fried chicken, seafood, tteokbokki, and more! Wifey and I opted to go for a spread of the Gochu Maneul Chicken (sweet and spicy garlic fried chicken), Pork Mozzarella Cheese Fondue, and the Beef Soft Tofu Jjigae. Everything we had was delicious and definitely hit the spot! Overall, this spot is one of the more popular late night eats in the Irvine area for a reason! They are typically open until midnight everyday and are open until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. All of the staff here are very friendly and efficient. This place has always been coming up on my Yelp search for restaurants. I've been always wanting to try it and the other day me and my cousin decided to finally hit this place up! Located in a big plaza with several other restaurants nearby, it was easy to find parking and when we arrived were immediately sat. Our waitress was cool and checked up on us constantly. They have those bell service buttons as well. I ordered the deep fried whole squid and my cousin got Korean fried chicken. Food came out and no time and we started to dig in. The squid was crunchy and delicious! The fries that it came with were also great! The Korean fried chicken was the real star though! It was crunchy and the marinade used was absolutely stunning. Prices for the food and the amount you get were absolutely fair. I don't really have any complaints at all except I think I like a bit more on the menu. The atmosphere was very cool with dark neon lighting. Me and my four friends shared a pitcher of their Sapporo Draft and it came out nice and cold and the cups were also chilled. Every single time I've come back to Hanshin I would get the dumplings with cheese corn, just simply AMAZING. Definitely something you can share since they're a lot bigger than your average dumplings. They're packed with delicious savory flavors and the cheese corn adds a hint of sweetness creating a mouth watering balance. Another one of my favorites is the DIY rice ball. Let me tell you, when I say it has the freshest ingredients EVERY SINGLE TIME I mean it has the FRESHEST ingredients every single time. Even the rice is always perfection. They give you the bowl with everything sectioned off, and gloves. You get the honors of mixing and shaping the balls it can make up to 6-8 decent sized rice balls. The last time I went I tried the Tteok-bokki with beef and added udon. I think I may have found my new favorite! My friend had and let me try her kimchi fried rice, chefs kiss!! Their soju cocktails here are another one of my favorites, always so refreshing! There's a button on the table if you ever need anything you just press it and they come immediately. There is also a water jug with small cups for the table and will always replace with a full one if you need more! I love the low lighting in there and the dividers.
