Nakkji bokkeum
Sydney O.

They have a wide variety of Korean dishes and we will definitely be back to try more. We got the nakkji bokkeum and added noodles. The flavor was good but I think when we mixed in the noodles with the sauce it cooled off the dish which made it unsatisfying to eat at room temperature. Service is attentive but we came on a slow night so not sure how it is on weekends. Banchan was alright nothing special

From the moment I entered, I was warmly greeted by the staff with such kind and timely service. I happened to arrive at an odd hour when the restaurant was quieter, but it was absolutely perfect. I was craving some homemade style Korean food, and this place hit the spot. I agree with those that have already posted that this is a solid alternative to the overcrowded and overpriced places like BCD. The broth and stew here carries such depth of flavor, and the meals are carefully prepared by an experienced chef that knows the fine intricacies of Korean cuisine. It felt like the type of food your Korean grandma would serve you, which made me feel at home. Highly recommend supporting this business! I'll be back :).

My friends and I love meeting up here for authentic Korean food. The service is efficient and friendly. The food is delicious. Parking may be a challenge, but we always manage to find parking. Food is reasonably priced. We often come back because the food is delicious!

곤드레 돌솥 비빔밥 (hot stone pot with seasoned thistle), 은대구 조림 (spicy braised white cod), 우거지 갈비탕 (beef short rib soup with napa cabbage)

To start off they are not affiliated with the Yedang Korean Restaurant out in LA Habra. Although their menus look exactly identical the friendly server confirmed that they are not a chain nor are the owners related or own both restaurants. Spacious and have plenty of seats for groups and families. Came on a weekday at 11am and was not busy at all unlike the other Yedang in LA Habra. Ordered three items: 1) spicy braised white cod: had a good balance of sweetness and spiciness, the cod was soft and had no fishy smell, the radish could have been cooked longer; 2) beef soup with short ribs and napa cabbage: the soup broth was flavorful, a good blend of the soybean paste, plenty of napa cabbage and meat; and 3) hot stone pot rice with seasoned thistle: be sure to mix the savory soy sauce into the rice and thistle cuz it brings out the flavor really well. Must leave a portion of the rice to scorch at the bottom of the hot pot too for later!

Came from Placentia for galbijjim and they serve the best galbijjim in OC! Great service and great good!

This place is authentic Korean food with reasonable prices. When we came here, it was relatively busy but they were able to seat us pretty quickly. The waitress was quick to serve and get our orders. Food came out pretty quickly. Bot. naengmyeon (cold noodles) that we ordered was just enough for 2 hungry people with a small side of bossam!

I've been here three times now and love that it's more of a mom-and-pop alternative as compared to popular franchises like BCD or Kaju Soft Tofu. Yedang also seems to have a wider variety of food, offering bossam in addition to other soups like chicken ginseng or black goat head soup. (I love the black goat head soup! so flavorful and also feels healthy with the veggies) The workers here have always been so kind to me and service is quick, however it's never been too crowded when I've been there. Their seafood pancake has an interesting array of seafood (crab, mussels/clam, etc) but is chive-heavy so beware if you're not a fan.

We were craving Galbi and decided to stop by yedang!! The spot is in a quiet complex, and very spacious. The parking and seating was very easy! Took us about 30/40 minutes in and out which was great since we had somewhere to go.

Hot Stone Bibimbap $22.99

Ye Dang has plenty of parking out front and lots of seating indoors, so we were able to get a table right away during the dinner rush. Ye Dang is a no-frills, Korean restaurant with minimal decor but free iced barley tea or water. Service was ok since there were only 2 ladies working, but the menu looked great. We narrowed it down to the large Bossam $49.99 (braised pork with napa, green leaf wrap, and soybean paste or kimchi stew), Cold Noodles with Spicy Sauce & Galbi Combo $36.99 (cold buckwheat noodles with spicy sauce and marinated short rib), and the Hot Stone Pot Bibimbap $22.99 (rice topped with minced beef and other seasonal vegetables with egg yolk in hot stone pot). Everything was delicious! Would definitely come by again to try their lunch special pricing.

Had dinner with our Korean neighbors this weekend -- they own a bakery and brought us to one of their favorite Korean spots for group meals, a traditional hot pot restaurant they've been going to for years. It's only about 13 minutes away, yet after living in the area for so long I had no idea this place even existed. We walked in and it was packed wall-to-wall with Korean locals -- always a good sign Napa Wrap with Braised Pork A must-try! Thick slices of braised pork belly, super tender, clean flavor, and no porky smell at all. You wrap it with napa cabbage or lettuce along with radish pickle, shrimp paste, and bean paste. One bite and I was sold -- perfect balance of fatty, salty, refreshing, and crunchy. BBQ Beef Short Ribs (Galbi) So tender and thick, cooked perfectly without charring the outside. Love that they don't burn the meat just for appearance -- cleaner, healthier, and super flavorful. Galbi Tang (Beef Short Rib Soup) My husband's go-to dish anywhere we go, and this version did not disappoint. They also have a limited upgraded version that includes brisket and brisket point -- rich, comforting, and deeply savory. Fish Roe Stew I didn't know they served this dish until now! I can't handle too much spice, so we didn't order their signature spicy hot pot this time. This stew had a mild kick but was totally manageable -- definitely coming back to try the famous spicy version. According to our neighbors, their most popular item is the Octopus & Monkfish Hot Pot, which they usually order. They skipped it this time just in case it was too spicy for me... so I guess that means we have to come back Such a hidden gem -- authentic Korean flavors, huge portions, and the kind of place where Korean locals eat regularly. Already planning our next visit!

It was dinner time when I needed to charge my car at one of the cheaper charging stations in Tustin. It was kind of in the middle of a quiet office area. We looked around the area and found this restaurant. The food was good, and even tho they seemed short of staff, they gave star service. The menu was extensive and offered authentic Korean food. I'm glad with the choice we made to eat there.

Boossam
Sam C.

This is our new favorite place for boossam (boiled pork). The large portion is huge -- probably enough for 3. It is served warm with plenty of cabbage. They also have a large assortment of banchan. The other large dishes are also good including the fish dish and several of the stews.

Authentic Korean spot for family gatherings and lunches. Come with me! Highlights of the menu: 1. A nak jeongol - seafood hot pot with seafood broth 2. Japchae 3. LA kalbi

Best decision of my late night misadventures in a long time! It was very filling (you could probably order one item and split it or have plenty of food for leftovers the next day), it's not inexpensive but it's great value (but then again $20 for a meal out is kind of going rate standard so maybe it is inexpensive or comparable to most anything else you could choose?), and it's great quality. The soup is a combo meal that comes with rice, glass noodles, fish cakes in sauce, and kimchi. You can also modify the spice level to make it more mild or spicy depending on your preference. I don't know why I am so obsessed with the soup but I'm going to think about it for a while because I was 100% lost in the sauce while eating it - after you get halfway you can put the rice, part of the kimchi, and (maybe) the fish cakes in the soup so it gets closer to porridge and break up some of the blood sausage to mix it throughout. Service is friendly and can recommend different things to eat. I got my order as takeout but the dining atmosphere is really good for how close each table is to one another. Everyone still has enough space to be on their own but because you're closer together it kind of feels communal.

You can tell this place has a strong base of regulars too, I saw a mix of friend groups and families casually walking in like it's their go-to spot. We ordered the cold noodles combo with jokbal (pork hock) for $30.95. Portion wise, it's SOLID for two people. The cold noodles were refreshing and really hit the spot, especially if you like that clean, slightly tangy flavor. The jokbal was very decent. Not bad, but if you've had it in Korea, you'll notice it doesn't quite hit the same level still totally "usable," just not standout. Value, this is where they win. We got full off just one combo, which is rare these days. Plus, all the usual Korean side dishes are complimentary, and they also served a warm bone broth at no extra cost. I've honestly never had that offered like this before, and it made the whole meal feel extra comforting and homey. Small detail, but I also appreciated that the table was already fully set up with bowls, utensils, and water which makes everything efficient. Overall, really solid experience. It actually gave me a bit of that Seoul nostalgia, which is hard to replicate. Definitely coming back to try more dishes.

(Pretty sure it's just the owner) who was very friendly, but the other staff had a huge attitude, the girl who dropped off our side dishes dug her hands into the dishes to grab two at a time which was super unsanitary. She threw the last side dish on our table while she was walking away too. I wanted to be optimistic about the food even though the staff gave a terrible first impression. We ordered two soups. They were both super bland. My partner and I kept debating whether or not to ask for more salt because of the lack of seasoning in both of our meals. Even the side dishes were lacking flavor and looked like they were sitting out for a long time. The only good thing I have to say about this place is the kind lady (probably owner) of the restaurant. Everything else was a huge let down. I wanted to like the food here because there's a lot of good Korean restaurants in Irvine, and this could've been one of them but sadly it's not worth coming back.

I love Korean restaurants....it's way more important to order what the employee thinks is best....yes let's do it! Our food comes out and everything is delicious! The Yukkaejang is very good....but also very spicy. Definitely at the top of my threshold for spice...but I am wimpy. The stone pot bibimbap was interesting and yummy. The other day, I took my father there again just to see if anything had improved, but unfortunately it was very disappointing. The service was still really bad. We ordered one of the specials from the menu, and nobody informed us that ordering the special meant it would not include the usual side dishes. This was very poor communication on their part. They should clearly mention that in the menu before customers order. Instead, after we ordered, they told us that the side dishes were not included. Overall, it was a frustrating experience, especially compared to how good this place used to be.

The la galbi was alright, decent flavoring, quite fatty not that tender, bulgogi is good. The seafood pancake was def disappointing, it was lwk like less than an inch thick of batter, it was very doughy and chewy, not that much veggie nor seafood.
