Bulgogi combo 5/5 (see my review for deets!)
    Mila C.

Come hungry! Bring more people so you can try more things. Service: is always great from every staff member Food: I've gotten the galbi and bulgogi combos both are really good. You should definitely try the seafood pancake too! Parking: horrible, so drop someone off to enter your name on the waitlist while the other person finds parking

When I crave for Korean tofu soup dishes, this is my go to place. Parking can be a challenge at the Diamond Jamboree location. However, service is quick and efficient. Ambience is simple and practical. You get your order timely, eat and you're out. There are a great variety of topping choices and food is delivered hot & fresh. They also have a great variety of side dishes that are refilled regularly. The little fried fish is our favorite. We had spicy pork with beef tofu soup and seafood tofu soup. Appreciate their consistency and definitely coming back!

Always a go to especially late at night. Perfect for after a night out, cozy comfort meal, catching up with friends or even a solo meal! Their original beef medium always has the perfect amount of spice and savory burst of flavors! It's my go to tofu soup order time and time again. Their banchan always hits and the servers double down on checking if you're low on them. They'll either swiftly fill them up or someone with a cart comes around.

BCD is always so busy. You will need to get here either before they open or after the lunch or dinner rush. Love getting the Galbi combo with tripe tofu stew. The server is always filling up the side dishes. The Galbi is cooked just right and usually is the first item to be finished on the table. Parking can be challenging and so it's a good idea to sign up on the waitlist and then go find parking.

My must get anytime i'm in the LA/Irvine area! They are super generous with the portions, and it is worth the price, especially if you get their combo meals. Today, I tried their hot bibimbap, side of kimchi soon dubu, and it came with rice and of course side dishes. All of that for around $27 is super worth it, and I had enough for left overs. It's usually a hit or miss with the wait times for me. Sometimes we get seated nearly immediately, sometimes we have to wait. But, time goes by fast when you're shopping at the other stores or walking around the plaza. This is a pretty big location, so plenty of seating!

I've been to BCD before, but in Garden and I enjoyed it especially the free fish! But this was like 4 years ago. Now for my second time, I'm here in Irvine visiting from the Bay and I was looking forward to it. The spot is super busy for a Wednesday night and we got the free fish again! I guess every guest gets one regardless of what you ordered. The food overall was great, but I was most impressed with the efficiency and the service that you receive here, especially the free refills on banchan.

Kalbi LA Galbi Combo with Soybean Soon Tofu, spicy
    Melissa P.

Okay my curiosity got the best of me I got the Kalbi combo, way more pricy then I think it's worth. Spice level on the Soybean Soon Tofu was accurate tho and tasted yummy. Unlimited banchan and rice tea that honestly was delicious. Idk if I'd crave this place over my usual Korean place. But not bad for a late night dinner. Staff was fast and efficient, and it was pretty clean. But noting that the floors are slippery, similar to Korean bbq, I almost ate it coming out of the bathrooms.

Soup (soon tofu) that comes with the bibimbap combo

Really enjoyed the vegetarian Hot Stone Bibimbap combo (comes with soup, pickled spicy cucumber, kimchi, potato, fish, garlic pickle, egg). The bibimbap was very good and so was the gochujang that came with it. It comes with a decent bit of vegetables but the tofu was too bland. Would have liked some more sesame seeds/oil. The portion is good for one but if you get an extra bowl of rice, you can split it between two people. You get refills on the side dishes that come with the combo. The soup was delicious and very flavorful - a lot like a spicy vegetable-tofu stew. We went on a Thursday night and there was a 30 min wait. The service is good but the waiters are just too busy. Nice place, filled with mostly students because it is open very late in the night.

We missed you BCD. Got here early, way before lunchtime. No wait. Got seated and ordered right away. Our server dropped off a stone pot filled with rice. Soon, rest of the banchan came out. Followed by the Tofu and also spicy crab. Seafood jun followed. All of the items were as expected, delicious. However, our server never stopped by to check on us. Actually she did stop by to bring our check. Definitely a bad service but I could have flagged her down. See you next time

Came on a Sunday night around 10 PM, and we still had to wait 30 minutes to get seated. We joined on the Yelp Waitlist Stand that was placed outside, but you can join the Waitlist from far away...we totally forgot. Make sure you remember to join the Yelp Waitlist while you're 20-30 min away!!!! BCD provides small dishes (ban chan) as do most soondobu spots, with around 6 small dishes. They also provide fried fish which is so good! I think it's pretty rare to see other spots provide fried fish. Regarding small dishes, the service was so good. I've never had my small dishes refilled that many times and that quickly. 10/10 for service and the speed of refills. Beef Soondobu (10/10, $17) - As good as it gets. This is legit soondobu, a gold standard spot, with plenty of beef, tofu, and soup - Got the medium spicy level, which was totally manageable, and I'm pretty weak in terms of spice usually - Rice is initially scooped out of a stone pot, super traditional, also super delicious Overall, totally recommend this BCD. Make sure to Yelp Waitlist early, and enjoy the meal! In the future, I'd love the try their galbi items.

BCD in Irvine is where we come to so frequently that we forget to review Comfort chain tofu soup and galbi combo. Always go to and never fails. Staff is nice and it's always busy at BCD. Parking can be a pain if it's during a really busy time. Always good during cold days. Bustling noises with lots of people eating and enjoying their meal definitely makes it feel lively. We will be back when we need tofu soup

I have not been to this location in a while. Back tonight thanks to my friend. Huge location. Lots of tables and seats but still there's a wait to get seated, served or checked on. Parking is usually tough, but today was our lucky day. They get a solid average score. Everything is pretty average. Now they sell their soon tofu packages at Hmart for $3.99. That's a good alternative if you prefer a cozy night in or want to save some money. The package comes with the tofu and seasonings. Just add water and proteins to your liking --Restaurant quality. Additionally, other Korean restaurants old and new are executing similar quality if not better. If you're in the area, check BCD out, but if you're willing to drive a tad, I encourage you to explore. Happy eating!

Ask the Community - BCD Tofu House

    Do we need reservations?

You get on the list at the door. Wait isn't too much except on weekend nights, when it can be 30-60 minutes...

Are the tofu soups gluten free?

    Yes

Do you get banchan if you only order soup?

Yes, typically banchan comes default with all things ordered whether it's just soup, bibimbap only or any meat only entrees

    Are there gluten-free options?

Yes they have those options available!

    What does BCD stand for?

It stands for Buk Chang Dong!

Is the banchan still good like taste good during 12am-3am?

We've been there at 12:40 AM and it was still fresh. I'm not sure beyond that, but as long as they're busy I'm betting it would be.

Does the Tofu Soup have any seafood or related in it? I have allergies and want to make sure.

Yes. It's a seafood soup with tofu

Does their main dishes include rice or is the rice paid separately?

I recall that it does. My husband ordered the short ribs and got a bowl of rice that I took to eat with my soup. I LOVE RICE! It's bad but it's a MUST have for me.

    How do i Check waitlist?

See the iPad at the entrance for the waitlist information

How do you get on the waitlist?? Do we have to go to the restaurant to get on the waitlist?

Yes. Their wait list is only accessible at the entrance

Do they have outdoor dining? 12.9.22

    No, everything is indoors now.

What time do they close on Monday?

They close at 2am on Mondays.

Does anyone know what time frame their "lunch" pricing is? I'm here currently (12:04pm) and we were charged regular pricing

    11am - 3pm weekdays only

How about now are they open for indoor dining?

    As of 10/12/2021, yes!

Are they opened for indoor dining now?

    Nope, only outdoor!

Are they open now for dine in or outdoor seating?

    Dine in currently

Does the takeout come with side dishes?

Yes they do. Same as dine in: fish, fish cake, kimchi, and bean sprouts

Does anyone know the name of the fish in the side dishes (the fried fish)?

    It's call yellow croaker

Does their phone number work? I'm always getting a busy tone immediately when I dialed their phone #.

Yes, their phone number does work! However, at the location I go too they only speak Korean.

What comes in the combo? Is the soup selectable?

Yes! The combo has the options of the soups (S category)

You can tell this place has a strong base of regulars too, I saw a mix of friend groups and families casually walking in like it's their go-to spot. We ordered the cold noodles combo with jokbal (pork hock) for $30.95. Portion wise, it's SOLID for two people. The cold noodles were refreshing and really hit the spot, especially if you like that clean, slightly tangy flavor. The jokbal was very decent. Not bad, but if you've had it in Korea, you'll notice it doesn't quite hit the same level still totally "usable," just not standout. Value, this is where they win. We got full off just one combo, which is rare these days. Plus, all the usual Korean side dishes are complimentary, and they also served a warm bone broth at no extra cost. I've honestly never had that offered like this before, and it made the whole meal feel extra comforting and homey. Small detail, but I also appreciated that the table was already fully set up with bowls, utensils, and water which makes everything efficient. Overall, really solid experience. It actually gave me a bit of that Seoul nostalgia, which is hard to replicate. Definitely coming back to try more dishes.

Best decision of my late night misadventures in a long time! It was very filling (you could probably order one item and split it or have plenty of food for leftovers the next day), it's not inexpensive but it's great value (but then again $20 for a meal out is kind of going rate standard so maybe it is inexpensive or comparable to most anything else you could choose?), and it's great quality. The soup is a combo meal that comes with rice, glass noodles, fish cakes in sauce, and kimchi. You can also modify the spice level to make it more mild or spicy depending on your preference. I don't know why I am so obsessed with the soup but I'm going to think about it for a while because I was 100% lost in the sauce while eating it - after you get halfway you can put the rice, part of the kimchi, and (maybe) the fish cakes in the soup so it gets closer to porridge and break up some of the blood sausage to mix it throughout. Service is friendly and can recommend different things to eat. I got my order as takeout but the dining atmosphere is really good for how close each table is to one another. Everyone still has enough space to be on their own but because you're closer together it kind of feels communal.
