I always like getting both spring rolls and egg rolls, so I loved that Pho Ba Co has a Duo Appetizer that comes with 2 spring rolls with shrimp & pork and 3 egg rolls. The spring rolls tasted so nostalgic to me, and the egg rolls were perfectly crispy. It was the best of both worlds! For our main entrees, we ordered the Brisket Pho and Stir-Fried Garlic Beef Tenderloin Vermicelli. The pho broth was clean yet deep and flavorful, and they gave a generous amount of brisket. The Stir-Fried Garlic Beef Tenderloin was a standout--the beef was flavorful, tender, and juicy. Because I wanted to try their garlic rice, I ordered a side, and it ended up being one of the best garlic rices I've ever had! Long was our server and was so kind. Before sun sets earlier in the day, we wanted to enjoy our meal in the huge outdoor eating area and he brought out menus and everything to accommodate. We ordered pho tai and com tam but I accidentally ordered the shredded pork versus the grilled pork. He was able to replace for us and was so kind about it. All the other dishes, I personally found the taste of the meat to be a bit lacking in flavor, nothing about the taste was memorable at all, but the way it was cooked was really good, temperature wise. The beef and pork chop platters were solid, well-cooked, and tasty, definitely earning their 4/5. Their pho is 3/5 since the broth was not seasoned well and a bit bland. I ordered their side of pickled onions and it wasn't pickled enough more like raw onions, however, they do give a hefty size. I think for the Irvine area, this is a pretty solid Vietnamese pho spot. It has a large menu with various combinations and value sets. I'm absolutely disgusted. I was literally in the middle of eating my pho when I found a BIG BLACK FLY inside my soup. I had already been eating from the bowl, which makes it even more horrifying. I thought it was chili crunch but as I pick it up I see wings. Finding an entire fly floating in food that was served to a customer is completely unacceptable and makes me seriously question the cleanliness and food-handling practices here. I've been coming here since I moved to SoCal about 2 years ago, this is my only tried and true 10/10 perfect pho place I return to. The Pho Tai is my favorite and always ask for the meat on the side so I can cook it in the rich broth as I want. Their rice dishes are delicious as well but Pho Tai #10 is my regular! The pho came with the plate of the usual veggies such as jalapenos, cilantro, bean sprouts,etc and lemons too. Sriracha and hoisin sauce and one more sauce was available on the table. I feel like I probably could've, since I finished most of the noodles, but ended up taking the soup and veggies home so I could add some noodles and make a meal out of leftovers. I usually order the Pho with rare beef, brisket, and fish ball, but today I decided to try the Pho with beef rib bone and rare beef -- it was outstanding!! I love their generous portions but I am more impressed by how consistent their broth tastes. After twenty years of patronage not once did I have any bad taste or service that required attention. The men who work here are extremely well trained and attentive. They serve foods fast and asks for anything else each time they come by. Seating is immediate due their fast turnover of the customers.
