Loved the prosciutto sandwich! A variety of textures and so.much flavor! We went there on a food tour and this was probably the top visit.

We tried getting the porchetta sandwich the afternoon before around 3pm and they were sold out so we came back the next day when they opened around 11am. The sandwich was so good. The Porchetta was nice and fresh. The sauce they use is so good. The cracklin was so satisfying. Definitely coming back.

Still ono more than 4 hours after purchase.

This was another unexpectedly delicious surprise. M&B was in my list of food to either eat in Vancouver, or takeaway for the flight home. I ate porchetta stuffed inside freshly baked rolls in Orvieto, NYC and Tokyo (?), and I ate roasted pork with crackling skin throughout Asia and the Southern US, so I think I know how deliciously roasted pork tastes. I don't know if the chopped pork was over-salted and sauced, but at altitude of 30,000 feet and even after sitting cold for 3 hours, M&B's porchetta roll was so tasty and tender with bits of still-crunchy skin mixed in, I wished I bought 3 more to eat at home after my flight.

It was years ago that we first tried a sandwich at a different location and the family had such good memories we had to try again. Inside was a little empty around noon but the restaurant was quite spacious and modern. Last time the lines were so long so was this a sign? We ordered the porchetta sandwich and watched the staff prepare it. The porchetta sandwich we originally ate had left such a great first impression from long ago that it was the only choice for us even though it seemed a bit pricey now. Initial impressions were that the sandwich seemed smaller than before and there wasn't much stuffed inside. The bread to meat ratio was definitely skewed towards the bread. Nothing like the website photos. The porchetta and crackling mixture was quite savory but definitely could be a lot more including the salsa verde. A definite let down for us. Glad we also had other food to fill our stomachs that day. Not sure if we will be back.

I love meat and bread so this place is perfection! I love the rustic vibes of the Gastown location and they played excellent music when we were there! I got the porchetta sandwich - I wish they gave more crackling and/or the salsa verde. The sauce brought a hint of freshness that helps cut through the richness/fatness of the meat. My bf enjoyed his food. They may look small but the sandwiches kept us full for hours walking in the heat! I enjoyed their homemade sambal and mustard sauces! If I had room in my bag, I definitely would've bought a few mustard jars!

After trying to traverse the crowd at the New Lunar Year parade, we saw Meat and Bread sign on the sidewalk and hustled inside quickly. Felt incredibly lucky because their hours on Yelp said they're closed, but Yelp is wrong! They're open on weekends now from 1130am to 5? (not sure of exact closing time). Right when you walk in, you come face to face with the carving station where the porchetta and crackling are glistening under the heating lamp. I didn't even have to look long at the menu on the right. I can't even remember what else is offered. Porchetta, please! My guy and I shared one sandwich because we weren't particularly hungry, but when you see the crackling just sitting there, you can't NOT try it if you're already there, right? Served with a dollop of mustard, it was truly a delicious marriage of crispy, tangy, fatty, succulent and chewy textures of pork, generous helping of that glorious crackling on that soft ciabatta roll. *chef's kiss* to the people at Meat and Bread. Some crackling fell off my sandwich and being the nice person that I am, I fed one precious piece to my guy and watched as he closed his eyes in ectasy. I instantly regretted it. Man, that crunch from the crackling was the nail on my coffin. I've died and gone to porchetta heaven. My guy can't stop talking about the sandwich. We might go back tomorrow and I'm not sharing this time. *love that their 2 bathrooms are labeled as Meat and the other Bread. Gender neutral!

Ordered 2 sandwiches to share. Of course had to get the porchetta and also ordered the roasted lamb. Both very flavorful!!

Porchetta sandwich, pork crackling, salsa verde, spicy mustard, hot sauce.

Get the Porchetta! Every ingredient is expertly done. Quite possibly the beat sandwich I've ever had! Takes less than 4 minutes from ordering to eating.

My first Canadian sandwich... Wow! I got the Porchetta, which was amazing. I absolutely love the crispy skin mixed with the chunks of meat and salsa verde. It gave it a nice crunchy taste to it.

I don't always crave sandwiches but when I do, the place probably has porchetta! Meat & Bread is a no-frills sandwich shop. I'm not sure if they bake their own bread but I saw them pulling out a fresh batch of ciabatta out the oven while I was there. Mine tasted fresh so I would assume so! I got their famous porchetta one. They chopped the meat and cracklings on the spot and it was absolutely delicious! They don't scrimp on the filling here.

The Chicken Avocado sandwich is the bomb and will order it every time, that I am in Vancouver.read more

Great place for refreshingly healthy eats downtown. I mostly do the build-your-own salad bowls,…read morewhere you can combine a variety of interesting "salads" with a base and optional protein of your choosing. The chili-lime tofu, my go-to, is grilled fresh and juicy with a tangy marinade. I find these bowls very filling, but the price adds up quickly as you add more salad scoops, so I find it best to be conservative with my estimate of how much I think I need to eat. Besides the salad bowls, they have some hot entrees. I tried the Moroccan chickpea hot bowl and the tomato soup and both were a little bland, which was especially disappointing for something labelled "Moroccan". I would go back and try some different entrees to see if anything else is better, but I would say the salads are likely the best choice here. They have a very limited selection of "healthy" baked goods too. I really liked the chocolate pistachio cookie. As you would expect, it's significantly less sweet and has a slightly drier texture than a regular cookie, but if you like that kind of "better for you" treat, it's good. Very cocoa-forward. I've had good experiences with the service. The staff is friendly enough and usually pretty fast. It's counter service, but they'll usually bring your food to you at your table. There's a good amount of seating inside and a few tables outside when the weather allows. It's minimalist but clean.

I never knew this place was called HBC Gourmet Market, but I finally remembered to take note of it…read morethe next time I visited. It's a bakery and deli. This is the place where I usually buy cakes for the office. Their cakes are pre-made and placed in the displays for you to choose from. They make cakes throughout the day, but if you're unlucky they could be low on choices if you're there at the wrong time. If you have time, order ahead, but I don't usually have any problems with walk ins. The most recent cakes that I purchased were the Lemon Meringue and the Chocolate. Both cakes were sweet, light and fluffy. They were a hit in the office.

The HBC Gourmet Market is a little known great eatery in downtown Vancouver. It is located on the bottom floor of the Hudson's Bay Company (next to the Pacific Centre food court). It appears to be relatively unknown because Yelp doesn't know about it and so many people are always asking where I buy my lunch! Here you will find a very tasty selection of typical deli fare... The soups, salads, and sandwiches are their main selects but there is a whole lot more! My favourites are the Thai Chicken soup and the Chipotle Chicken Soup... usually ordered with a Greek salad. I am always so pleased with my lunch that I made this my very first review on Yelp!

I had spotted this place the day before while walking by. Today we stopped in for lunch…read more When we walked in the place just smelled amazing. And the porchetta on the cutting board was calling me. We ordered a Porchetta sandwich, meatball sandwich and a side Kale Caesar salad. The Porchetta was great. Chopped and with some crispy pork cracklings on top, it was really very tasty. The mustard on the side was a great addition to every savory bite. Next the meatball. Spicy and delicious with a bit of kale added for texture and color. This was EVEN BETTER than the Porchetta if you can believe it. The kale salad was also good as well as the spicy pickle. I would eat here once a week if I lived close bye. A definite must try if you're in Vancouver. 9/10

Being that it was our first time here, one takeaway is to ask for more cracklin' because the crunchy pieces are the best part IMO. We ordered a porchetta sandwich and a grilled cheese. For the price (compared to Cali ) I thought it was a great value for a porchetta sandwich. The bread was fresh, perfectly toasted. The flavors were all tasty, and getting a side of their spicy dip elevated the sandwich even more. 10/10 would eat on the regular if I lived near by. The grilled cheese was alright though in comparison to the porchetta sandwich. Great cheese pull, definitely needs some dipping sauce to elevate it though. Don't know if I'd order again but if a grilled cheese is what you are craving, it'll do just fine. This location had some seating inside and a couple benches outside. Definitely good for solo dining or a quick lunch. Overall, glad we tried it, and wouldn't hesitate to order again.
