Great place for refreshingly healthy eats downtown. I mostly do the build-your-own salad bowls, where you can combine a variety of interesting "salads" with a base and optional protein of your choosing. The chili-lime tofu, my go-to, is grilled fresh and juicy with a tangy marinade. I find these bowls very filling, but the price adds up quickly as you add more salad scoops, so I find it best to be conservative with my estimate of how much I think I need to eat. Besides the salad bowls, they have some hot entrees. I tried the Moroccan chickpea hot bowl and the tomato soup and both were a little bland, which was especially disappointing for something labelled "Moroccan". I would go back and try some different entrees to see if anything else is better, but I would say the salads are likely the best choice here. They have a very limited selection of "healthy" baked goods too. I really liked the chocolate pistachio cookie. As you would expect, it's significantly less sweet and has a slightly drier texture than a regular cookie, but if you like that kind of "better for you" treat, it's good. Very cocoa-forward. I've had good experiences with the service. The staff is friendly enough and usually pretty fast. It's counter service, but they'll usually bring your food to you at your table. There's a good amount of seating inside and a few tables outside when the weather allows. It's minimalist but clean. read more

I typically don't expect much service from fast casual restaurants since it's generally limited to scooping food, while you do your own bussing. However, Edward went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional. He not only accommodated our requests (rice to greens ratio, cooked protein) and delivered our food to our table, but he also overheard that it was my mom's birthday and surprised her with a cookie. I was taken aback and touched by his thoughtful gesture; it truly made our day. Food-wise, my mom and I each ordered a Nourish Bowl ($13.50), with hers being Beet + Pear, Southwest Quinoa, and Seared BC Albacore Tuna (+$7), and mine being Curried Cauliflower and Wild Mushroom Ditalini. Both bowls were refreshing and satisfying, with our favourite market side being the cauliflower. All of the market sides look to be vegetarian, with gluten free and vegan options available. I've now tried both Tractor's tuna and Rosemary Chicken Breast (+$3.75 for half), but I don't think the additional protein is really necessary or of value compared to the market sides. Ambience-wise, this location was great with its high ceilings, natural light, and clean aesthetic. It complements the fresh, healthy food served. Conveniently located on Robson street among all the hustle and bustle of downtown Vancouver. It's a nice, light and healthy lunch spot with mostly wraps, salads and bowls. I enjoyed their Beef Sandwich on sourdough bread with pickled cabbage that came through refreshingly. The olive oil on the bread was a little on the much side for me, but that's just my personal preference. I would've liked it a bit drier. The full size is more than enough for one person and if you're sharing and not that famished the size is perfect for two to share. I think it would've taken it up a notch if they had included a slice of side gherkin just as a wrap up to a great sandwich. Overall, a great lunch. Will try their bowl next time! read more

After being stuck at the airport, I wanted some healthy and fresh food, so I made my way to Tractor! I was a bit worried that the portion wouldn't satisfy my hunger, but I found that the nourish bowl was a great portion. I got the quinoa tabbouleh with some sort of pesto pasta. Both sides were light and flavorful. As for the protein, I got the grilled chicken which I found a bit dry, so I doused that in hot sauce. Location is Robson, near Seymour. Most people seem to love this place and I, like a few others, did not find the food to be particularly tasty or something I would get again. We were unable to finish it because we didn't think it was delicious. We chose half salad, half brown rice as the base with the mushroom ditalini and curried cauliflower for the sides. Both sides had some type of dressing for flavor, which made the sides taste, well, not good to us. The fact that there's also dressing that can be added to the bowl made it seem like there were too many different dressings. If the sides were simply sauteed with olive oil & a few spices, it would have been much more satisfying. If you're looking for healthy alternatives that don't let taste off the hook, Tractor is the place for you! I've been a few times prior and the food has always been tasty and fresh. This time, I ordered the chicken bowl with half rice half salad, curried cauliflower and kale caesar. The portion was decent and flavour was good. (especially with a side of hot sauce ‍) I do wish there was a bit more chicken to compliment my bowl but I'm not mad about the current portion either. I also tried their house made blueberry mint lemonade which was quite nice but nothing out of this world. They have tons of options, and its honestly easier to just pick from what you see in front of you rather than reading the menu. I live close to this Tractor location so I frequently visit on my way to and from my destination. I find their food is good - especially their stews and avocado toast! However, I do find that their service isn't as good as it used to be. Mind you, I'm not often there during a lunch or dinner rush so not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I do feel that they aren't as engaged as they used to be. With that said though, I'm still going to go here because I love the food and appreciate their many special diet offerings. I've now dined at Tractor twice (one, on Broadway, and tonight, here at their Robson site). I realize I am in the minority here, but I'm really not a fan. Tractor is my kid's all-time favorite Vancouver casual dining place, and seeing all the reviews here, most people love it, so it just goes to show you how subjective reviewers' tastes can be. I appreciate how fresh and healthy all the options are here and how one can customize their bowls. It's a lot like the poke spots around, where you can opt for a base of rice or salad greens, then various proteins and then some "sides", all in the bowl. (They also offer various salads and sandwiches here, and breakfast fare as well). I think it's great, too, to see them grilling your meat right in front of your eyes, so you know it hasn't been cooked hours ago and has been sitting for hours under heat lamps. My kid always orders a bowl with grilled chicken and a base of half rice, half greens (nice, how you can do half and half!), and two sides that are kale based. Tonight I ordered a bowl with a base of greens, short ribs, a side of quinoa and kale and cranberries, and a side of beets. The ribs were delicious and reminded me 1000% of my mother's brisket when I was a kid: soft, moist, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The greens were fresh. My issue is with the sides. Like the last time I ate at a Tractor, I wasn't keen on the sides, and this time, likewise. I'm just not a fan of the seasonings in the sides, or the sauces/spices they put in them. Tonight when I visited here (around 6:30pm), the place was near empty. The guy working the counter was incredibly nice and patient, explaining how the whole process of ordering the custom bowls worked. Although the bowl portions are large, I find the prices here high. This Tractor outpost is located close to the main branch of the Vancouver Public Library, and has saved me on numerous lunch study breaks. It's a fast casual spot for the health conscious appetite. You order at the counter and then plates are delivered to your seat. Just beware that the line can snake out the door at peak weekday lunch rush hour. My go-to is the grilled chicken sandwich with arugula, pear, and provolone. This is such a scrumptious and filling panini-style treat. Full marks there. This past week I also tried the tomato fennel soup. It was equally good, with the fennel balancing out some of the tomato's acidity. I've had less luck with the pre-packaged cookies--the double chocolate pistachio and pecan cookie sounds tasty on paper, but was a bit dry and crumbly in the eating. Prices aren't dirt cheap, but reflective of the quality ingredients that are used in the food preparation. In terms of the neighborhood, this is definitely one of the more reliable lunch finds. read more

Amazing!! My husband and I both got a variety of food on our plates and we loved everything we go. I love finding nutritious food that is also extremely delicious. I hope this concept catches on--you can get a scoop of this, a scoop of that, half of something else--and make your own meal that suits your tastes. I disagree with the reviewers who said it's overpriced--maybe it's because we live in Washington DC, but no complaints about the pricing here. My favorite things: carrot + bulgar wheat salad, grilled avocado, and the veggie panini. My husband loved his salmon, the chickpea salad, and the strawberry basil lemonade. I get the hype now. I've been to Tractor once many years ago and wrote it off my lunch list because I felt it just wasn't worth it. The items on the menu were pricey and just a bit too 'hipster' for my taste. But forward a few years and now that I'm pregnant, I really appreciate Tractor's selection of salad bowls with salad options that aren't just all greens. It's until I got pregnant and realized that it wasn't recommended to have raw salads that I realized how hard it was to get a healthy 'bowl' for lunch. In comes Tractor and it's glorious salad bowls. I ordered the chili lime tofu bowl and MAN was I blown away by how good the tofu was. It's marinated VERY well. Don't get discouraged by its looks - it tastes marvelous. I wanted to try a healthier option for lunch as I was downtown and Tractor had good reviews on yelp so I had to try it out. I was lucky enough to get in before the huge line came after 12pm! Service was very fast. I wasn't feeling meat for lunch so I went for the chilli lime tofu bowl with rice. I added the roasted broccoli and kale. I'm usually not a fan of tofu but the tofu was marinated so well and grilled perfectly with the grill marks. I could barely taste the tofu! It for sure filled me up. Pricepoint is a bit higher, but for my stomach, a side salad and half sandwich is enough to keep me content. My coworkers and I went for lunch on a rare sunny winter day. I ordered the chicken sandwich, beet salad and a blueberry mint lemonade. The blueberry mint lemonade was tangy but sweet. I found it extremely refreshing, and would return to try their strawberry basil lemonade as well. The chicken sandwich was good, there was a nice amount of chicken, and a generous portion of cheese. The beet salad was my favourite (granted, I LOVE beets). It was combined with some goat cheese and green beans. The beans definitely tasted better than expected! My coworkers also had the chicken sandwich, with only one person opting to try the albacore tuna melt. She said it was a bit heavy but had lots of tuna. We all chose different salads. The curried cauliflower salad was nicely tossed, and had just the right amount of spice. The kale lemon salad was nice and tart according to another coworker. Meanwhile, the last person had what seemed to be a kale and bean salad, which he affirmed was tasty. Although it seemed like they had long line ups, they were quite efficient and moved quickly. Im gonna say it, I have no idea how this place is rated so highly and that people actually enjoy the overpriced tiny dishes they serve here. My coworkers get tractor for lunch always and I've been curious but never wanted to pay over $15 for a lunch. So this time work was catering so I thought alright now is my time to finally test out tractor food. I ordered the mushroom ditalini on a recommendation. I also ordered the kale Caesar salad to go with. Thinking these were bowls I was stoked to have a solid lunch of pasta and salad but when it showed the bowl wasn't even half full. The pasta lacked all flavour, it was plain and even the mushrooms didn't have any taste or seasoning. The kale salad was sad and wilted and what was stranger was the lettuce was shredded like subway iceberg lettuce! Who does that! There was nothing to this dish! So utterly disappointing hence why I just don't understand why it's busy! Railtown is better. I wonder if people like this joint because it seems more "healthy" ? I'm just so perplexed. read more

We needed a pretty quick brunch on our last morning in Vancouver, and this fit the bill! Easily walkable from downtown hotels, this is a nice spot to enjoy a filling breakfast. The place is branded as a "healthy food option." I don't know that it's really any healthier than any other breakfast sandwich you'd have. There are two sandwich options: one with egg, cheese, and avocado; the other with egg, cheese and bacon. They both come with a white dressing, which probably negates the "healthy" claim. But they were both good! We thought, hmmm, if you ask them for a sandwich with both the bacon and avocado, it would be even better! We didn't get the coffee, but they have coffee from 49th Parallel, which I hear is some of the best in the city. A good option if you can't make it to the actual location (I don't believe there's one downtown). The service was nice, and it was quick. So it's the kind of place you can go and take your time, but not be stuck there for an hour waiting on food. A great option for the traveler or resident on the go! read more

It's not the cheapest option, and during the lunch rush there's always a line, but I think it's well worth it. There are a massive number of options (there are menus you can look through while you're in line), and everything can have proteins added, with plenty of options for meat lovers and vegetarians alike. The food is filling, and leaves you feeling much healthier (and happier) than if you'd gone to a standard fast-food option. But the thing that really makes this place stand out from other fast-food places for me was the friendliness and effectiveness of the staff. I've never had such attentive and pleasant staff outside of a high-end dining room. I will certainly be back when I'm downtown for lunch. read more

One of the few places that actually make me excited to eat a salad! I feel good eating here because the food is so hearty, healthy, and delicious all at the same time. They have vegan options in every category on their menu (sandwiches, soups, stews and salads). Today my husband and I ordered the Veggie Sandwich (extra hummus instead of cheese to make it vegan), the Thai Veggie Stew, a plate of three types of salad ("Quinoa, Kale, Berries" + "Brussel Sprouts and Apricot" + "Southwest Quinoa") with a grilled avocado on top, and a Watermelon Lemonade drink. Handsome guy in Black chefs coat is really nice. The sandwhiches we had , 1) avocado and 2) bacon were alright but could use more veggies for me. I had the Abocado but again wished there was more for the price. Not sure if it was organic. Had we waited half an hour, I could have had some amazing salads!!!! Was in the area looking for a healthier option for lunch. Found this place on Yelp so decided to check out. The sandwich options and salad options were good. I got a half veggie sandwich and soup combo and my gf got a salad and full turkey sandwich. We waited 20 mins for our sandwiches and other people who came after us got their meal before us. The guy in charge of grilling the sandwiches looked like a mess and was disoriented. I watched him wrap three sandwiches and then unwrap them again. He was walking around aimlessly at one point and chatting with his buddies. It doesn't take that long to grill an already pre-made sandwich. When he finally got to me, I got a full chicken sandwich and then called out my number again to give me my half veggie sandwich. Wasn't until then he realize he already called my number and gave me the wrong sandwich; especially when the person is vegetarian and doesn't eat meat, to fuck it on that is avoidable. You have one job. The rest of the staff seemed discombobulated and not working smoothly with one another. I would've given this place four stars if it wasn't for the awful service and mix up. As for the food, the sandwich was good, the tomato and fennel soup was delicious but the salad was too oily and tasted bitter. read more
