This dainty Pret-a-Manger style spot quietly opened up late this summer and it's quite the refreshing addition to the downtown lunch/quck eat scene. The concept is very simple: healthy, sans-preservative, (some gluten-free), chic, grab-n-go, gourmet food to fuel clock-watching professionals and students. Upon entering the store, you make your way to the back to the fridges of daily-freshly-made and never left-over cups and boxes of i.e. PQ Pulled-Chicken Protein Boost, Shrimp Cocktail Protein Boost, Spicy Black Bean Quinoa Salad, Berry Patch Spinach Salad. For those of you needing a protein boost in addition to the salad, you can grab the protein cups to go with it. And as an opening promotion, you get a protein boost + salad + drink for $8.99 which is competitive against vendors nearby with a distinctive healthy BUT yummy differentiation To the right you'll see a hot shelf propping up daily baked breakfast sandwich, cookies, muffins, cinnamon swirls etc. When I walked in the breakfast items were all sold out, and I was told that it is served only until 11am and is usually all gone by then. There's also a very cool self-coffee-order terminal against the wall, and you are welcome to hangout by the little wall table (no chairs though) for a quick munch-down. I had the pleasure of coming into Peqish today with my manager and we were treated to a wonderful little info sesh about their offerings! We were also graciously treated to a Peqish-style lunch! This place is probably the freshest grab-and-go in the downtown area! We're talking so fresh that they make everything the morning of and it's all perishable. In addition, almost everything is made in house! All sauces, drinks, tortilla chips, baked goods, chicken & salmon seasonings, and more. They even make their own gluten-free flour! One of the things I instantly fell in love with was the fact that they have so many options for dietary sensitivities. They have Gluten free, Dairy Free, Vegan, and even a specific IBS sensitive juice. I for one have NEVER seen something labeled IBS sensitive! Colour me impressed! The food I actually got to eat was SUPER tasty. I obviously had to try the PQ Hit (the IBS sensitive juice). Freaking delicious. It was sweet without being too sweet and had a zing to it due to the ginger/turmeric root. 10/10 would recommend. I spilt the Salmon Sandwich and the Chicken Crancherry with my boss and both were just so great. The salmon used was wild and made from fresh salmon steaks... and you can totally taste the quality. The Crancherry compote was just as good! I even got a Gluten Free Chocolate Chunk cookie for a treat at home later... well It didn't stick around that long. There are so many more things I would like to try here and I know I will be coming back. If you work/go to school in the downtown area, I would highly recommend checking this place out. Just tried the Cobb salad and a quinoa salad booster from Peqish. They were extremely friendly and even threw in a complimentary Chia/lemon/earl grey tea drink. The cobb salad portion isn't enormous, but I'd say it's "just right" for a normal day. Add the salad booster if you're feeling hungry. I think this place will be my new go-to location if I'm ever in their area for lunch. They offer a lot of value for their tasty and healthy take-out food. This one star is just for the chips we received with our sandwich, which probably came from a bag. Not for the service. I was really excited to see that Peqish's menu was the food source for Yuk Yuk's as I have heard many great things about it. However, I was warned that the portions were really small. We ordered the Steak and Truffle Aioli Baguette and it was the most sorry ass looking sandwich I have ever seen in my entire life. The size of the sandwich was smaller than the size of a child's shoe size 2. I am all for eating healthy but the amount of meat in this steak sandwich was so little they might well just have given me bread and butter. The steak is poorly seasoned and there was no trace of aioli. It came with a heaping pile of salted chips - which you could probably buy at a convince store for a way better price. This pathetic sandwich cost $15. The table next to us ordered the Charcuterie (prosciutto, salami, ham, and parmesan, accompanied with housemade crostinis, olive tapenade and hummus). The look on their faces just reflected "wtf is this shit?" It came in a greasy wrinkled box-just a couple rolled up slices of ham. Whatever sauce it same with was in a pip-squeak cup. If you're looking for a sad expensive lunchbox, you can get this for $12! I don't know who makes the prices but shame on you for even selling for your crappy "healthy" teeny tiniest food. Put in a small catering order for 20 people at 9pm the night before. Got an email response within 15 minutes and confirmation that my order would be delivered soon thereafter. That's customer service. Free delivery since we were in their 2 block radius (TD Tower). We ordered an assortment of the hot wraps, baguettes, the Peqish snack mix, and some cookies. They were a hit. Gingerly & surprisingly shocked only 13 reviews?! If you've been to Freshii & Rocket, then this is a must-visit. I make it sound like an attraction lol. Been meaning to write a review so here's the good and bad: Salmon wrap: totally blew it out of the water; not only for a germ-freak, but to have the it cut in halves, both wrapped, indeed impressive. Not to mention the generous portions. Chia tea: not just a superfood & healthy, but the texture, almost like a coconut jelly feel. refreshing. Salad: fresh. Extra star for slick, smart packaging and branding, as per pics. Designed for quick pickup's, with a handful of bar seating along the wall. They do lots of catering in DT & even to UBC. The bad? At these prices for quality, fresh ingredients, why go to Subway?! Not a place to really hang and sit, and while they offer coffee, wouldn't be a place to meet for coffee. I recommend you skip this place - it's definitely trying to be a fresh grab and go lunch spot but their sandwiches are over priced and the quality is severely lacking for the money spent. I was looking forward to trying this spot because it's quite close to my work place and I always like to give new places a go. I had done my research online to scope the sandwiches soups and salads they had to offer. Everything sounded great. When I walked in, I was underwhelmed. There is a fridge shelf with stocked sandwiches and then two cauldrons of soup. The sandwiches looked decent so I opted for the smoked salmon sandwich with creamy dill cream cheese. Quite small for the $8 I was charged. My friend opted for the falafel sandwich and a vegetarian chilli soup - that's right not chilli and not soup - chilli soup in one. That is just vegetable soup! You can't put the two together. It's like the batch was made too watery so they decided to call it chilli soup so people wouldn't judge for the watery chilli. Too funny! The soup container was for an ant - so small and oddly the cashier told my friend to serve herself even though it was awkward to do so, the reach wasn't quite right. Not sure why the person working behind the desk didn't just pour the soup? When my friend was handed the lid, the chilli, I mean chilli soup overflowed because the lid cut off the top so you couldn't even fill the container for babies to the top. Any who, we left confused and hoped the food would at least be great. Got back to our desks, the chilli soup was bland, the falafel sandwich was dry and my smoked salmon sandwich was maybe six bites of a bun that had the texture of a hot dog bun - no chew, no crust - so utterly disappointed. The salmon was yummy but that nod goes to the supplier. I had to treat myself to salt and vinegar chips to feel better. If you're looking for a good sandwich try Finches, Cottage Deli or Smart Mouth - you'll have a much better experience at those places! read more

A co-worker introduced me to this neat little restaurant close to waterfront station. All their sandwiches and salads are made fresh daily in house. Best thing since they are closed on weekends every Friday after 1 PM everything (perishable) is 50% off (happy hour) which makes the amazing fresh food a fantastic deal. I got the Festive Chicken Cranberry sandwich and Steak, Onion & Cheddar sandwich for less than $8 due to happy hour on Friday. Regular sandwiches are around $6 each. The Festive Chicken sandwich was awesome and def a new favorite. Really juicy chicken with sweet signature cranberry sauce. The Steak sandwich was okay compared to the chicken one. This small restaurant is a must visit for anyone downtown Vancouver looking for fresh made food. read more

Well damn, if you're looking for a healthy, delicious, well-priced lunch Downtown, this is it. Nicki M and I were very kindly invited in for a complimentary lunch, and got to hear all about their philosophy, too! They aim for healthy, nutritional meals that are also super affordable, and who can complain about that? At first glance some of the prices seem fairly steep, but looking at their combo deals you realise how totally reasonable they are. Nicki and I shared the salmon salad sandwich and the chicken and crancherry sandwich, and I grabbed a quinoa salad boost to go with it. The sandwiches were both actually incredible! I haven't had a sandwich I've enjoyed that much in a long time. The salmon was (I think) my favourite - the fish is fresh, not canned, and you can really tell the difference. The salad boost was good, but it was a tad dry for my liking (I was also super full from the sandwich so it was my bad for eating too much!) The chicken was moist and delicious, and the sweetness of the crancherry was a perfect compliment. I also got one of their super fresh, super delicious juices - with cantaloupe, ginger, and turmeric, how can you resist?? There's something for almost every dietary need here, and as I mentioned the prices are really good when you combo up! Average food and overpriced, very limited menu and painfully slow service for people who work in the building and need to grab a bite to eat and go back to work. If you have travelled to London England, or around Europe, you will recognize the style of this place as very similar to Prét á Mangér. And all I can say to that is, its about time!! I just had the Thai chicken soup which was awesome and flavorful, and substantial as well. I also had a gluten free chicken sandwich! It was really good. They don't have the gluten free sandwiches on the shelf, but you can order any of the sandwiches they do have -gluten free. There's small salads, pre-made smoothies & drinks. It's a great idea, and again it's about time Vancouver had something like this. read more

First thought: all the food is premade Second thought: pretty good breakfast wrap. I tried the one with potatoes and tomato sauce, it was surprisingly delicious and I ate all of it. I would recommend trying it, because I am definitely going back and getting more breakfast wraps. read more

This is a terrific place to grab a takeout lunch, or a snack. All of their food tastes great and is good quality. They have some interesting meals, snacks and treats, and the prices are quite reasonable. Only thing is that some of the items that you'd assume to be healthy have huge calories. For example their delicious carrot muffin seems like it's a mistake when you look at the nutritional info. At least it's real food though. I'd just love to see items that substitute certain ingredients with apple sauce and other alternatives so that I didn't have to feel so guilty. The staff are all incredibly friendly as well and they often have taste tests so you can get a feel for the food. read more

A similar place, called Rocket, recently closed down. Peqish is almost as good, but there's no real seating. It's kindof a sad bachelor destination, which is fine, and it's handsome and convenient and makes sense for the middle of downtown lunch crowd. Food is pretty good. The cups of grain and lettuce business is not an area I'm interested in exploring, but the hot wraps are fine and it's a really quick pickup. Really decent outlet for catered office lunches! I have order two larger orders (for 15 to 22 people) through Peqish and am completely satisfied with their level of service. Leanne, their catering manager is super friendly, and also helped us through a holiday where we were working long hours and in need of nourishment. Although they were not open, Leanne was able to get a hold of the minimal prep staff at the kitchen and get us some of their cold sandwiches (chicken crancherry, dubliner meat, and egg salad) and salad boosters to tie us over for the day. The salad booster cups were greatly received, as well as the chicken sandwiches, which many team members re ordered a following day when we placed orders, even when the hot kitchen was open! The menu has a huge variety to please all palettes (vegan, vegetarian, glutenfree and carnivore) and I do not believe you will get bored with the menu. Salads, soups, booster cups, wraps and sandwiches, oh my! They also deliver - two block radius, no charge, varying fees associated with further distances. Would definitely order again if I were in the area - I recommend the soups, the quinoa or orzo salads, or the hot wraps. read more

I have never been in the actual restaurant but we get Pequish delivered to our office for lunch through a company called Food.ee. The Soy steamed salmon is so delicious! I go to Peqish when I don't have time for lunch. They have some sandwiches on shelves and well as salads, wraps etc. The sandwiches are not bad and those and the ones I usually go for. The salmon salad, on the other hand, it's a big No no. The salmon was baked but in some parts was tasting like raw fish. Horrible. The salad it self was quite dry and plain. It's not worth $9 at all. My firm has been ordering catered breakfasts and lunches from Peqish for the last year. I normally would not eat sandwiches but I'll eat Peqish sandwiches. I came down with food poisoning last night and had to cancel a gig for the first time in my life. I can perform through sleep deprivation and sore throats and whatever else but food poisoning has a way of bringing us to our knees. The grace that follows is a story of the goodness in the world. I called a sweet restaurant called Peqish and the owner, who could tell I was unwell was putting together my pumpkin soup delivery order - even though they had closed two hours ago. I asked if they take cards because I am cashless and he said, "Don't worry about it. This is on us," then dropped off a care package with not only pumpkin soup, but breakfast and lunch tomorrow, including freshly squeezed juice. Just read some of the reviews where reviewers have brought up comparisons to Pret-a-Manger international chain overseas. I have to agree - it totally made me feel a teesyweensy like I was at a Pret (they are fab and you must go if you are ever in UK, New York or Asia - I'm awaiting the day they come to Canada). The food at Peqish is delicious. I haven't been back to their location since they told me they discontinued their granola. I was so sad, it was one of my favourite granola I had here in the city. Very small cute little cofffee shop with limited seating inside. They make a decent latte and have some snacks, however, their selection in both is not as heavy hitting as their other items but still workable.
