    Breakfast platter

We dropped by for brunch on a Sunday morning of the long weekend and were surprised to see it not too busy at all. My last visit was pre-covid and they have since expanded into the previous insurance business location so there was tons more seating room, a welcome surprise. I ordered the classic platter and thai iced yin yang with oat milk. The drink was not particularly strong in either flavour but on its own was a tasty drink. The platter was pretty good an came with a full serving of potatoes that I couldn't finish as it was huge. Everything was cooked well and it was tasty. Service was friendly and waters were topped up. I would come back again especially when I know there's more seating now and less of that crazy weekend brunch lineup wait.

Tasty brunch spot. Go on a week day to avoid long lines. They add spices on their fries which makes them so good! Parking on the side or side streets.

Came by for a quick pick me up and for the Thai Yin Yuen tea. It was super tasty and definitely gave me the much needed caffeine boost!

I heard about this place several years ago but never got to try it until now. Mainly because it is always busy. Maybe it is slightly better now with a waitlist function on Google. We finally got to try the food here as we came in before 10 am. There were only 2 free tables at 940 am and it was full house by 10 am. So either come early when it opens or use the waitlist function. The menu is fairly simple with the typical brunch items like the egg Benny, chicken waffle, big breakfast, pancakes and sandwiches. I'm actually glad the menu is not very big as it makes narrowing down the items to try easier. I initially wanted the chicken and waffle because fried chicken. Who can say no to that? Then I saw lemon ricotta pancakes. Oh my! I have not had that since Bills in Sydney, Australia. The pancakes were very fluffy and the lemon flavor was strong. The whipped cream was light and the honey butter and syrup went well. My friend had the chicken and waffle, so I got to try the fried chicken. It was nicely seasoned and crispy. The meat was not too dry. The waffle was also very fluffy. Service was good, they came round often to check and to top up the water glass. I would want to come back again to try the egg Benny in future. Parking is easy on the street or 1-2 blocks away.

Good quality brunch is hard to come by and even harder to find something that is unique and not boring. @thegrayolive, not only do you get great cookery, the dishes we tried was unique in its choice of protein, garnishes, and sauces. Thick cut pork belly, pan seared to perfect crispyness, is hard to say no to, especially when paired with well poached eggs. The potatoes were nice as well, with great taste and even better texture. The hollardaise sauce is well prepared and complemented the crab cake benedict really well. Presentation was interesting and definitely caught our attention. Can't wait to go back.

First time and busy place. Waitlist is required unless you're there early. Great ambience and nice service. We dad the Kitchen Sink, Fried chicken & waffles and Pulled pork Benny. Was delicious and recommend to visit. Street parking available.

Such a charming brunch spot with friendly service. It can get busy so you might want to add your name to the online waitlist before arriving. I started off with their seasonal pumpkin pie latte, it's such a comforting fall drink. Their veggie benny was delicious, I like that it's served with a biscuit instead of an English muffin and you have several sides to choose from: fries, hashbrowns, tomato soup, fruit, green salad or poutine. I recommend their chicken & waffle, it's the perfect combo of savoury & sweet. The chicken is fried to perfection and their waffles aren't overly sweet. The spicy Korean ketchup adds an extra kick.

Service was super fast and staff were super friendly and helpful! The potatoes were super crispy and fluffy on the inside. Portion sizes were quite big, a tad bit on the pricer side but really liked the ambience of the restaurant. Overall would definitely recommend to a friend and come back!

So good! Tried this today for lunch on Yelp's review. Small little place with limited seating - items on menu sound delicious! I had the Veggie Benny. Two perfect poached eggs on cornbread, with mushrooms, tomato and arugula. I had the hashbrowns which were copious and delicious salty and garlicky little nuggets. I could not finish my meal and I noticed most people left with doggy bags, - portions are generous. Reviews say this place fills up and you have to wait in line - if so, its worth it! Oh, and my Americano was delicious too!.

very good service very quiet and clean place. Delicious food. I love the place. Highly recommended for the people for sure. I will be back.

Generous portions of delicious food in a simple setting at good prices. My new year's goal: try everything on the Gray Olive menu.

Safe to say everything on the menu is five star. It's a nice nook to meet a friend or dash in and out for delicious hearty breakfast fare. Every menu item I've tried here has been fantastic. Tried the Spanish coffee today for the first time, loved the sultry sweetness and the decorative foam! Definitely recommend :)

If you love tomato soup... this is the place to get it because they add a dill and it just adds the little something you didn't know it needs! The Gray Olive is a quaint cute cafe in Burnaby. I would say it's kind of a hole in the wall place as it's local, small and cozy and you may not notice it walking by, but it is a gem! They don't have a ton of menu options but I think that's the best as they focus on what they make best. They have everything from biscuits and gravy, to smoked salmon, to eggs Benedict's, to chicken and waffles. Everything I've had here does not disappoint!

It is also a fantastic spot to work if you wanna have a café setting because their pastries and bake goods are absolutely fantastic. In fact last year for Christmas, we bought one of their Christmas cake options which proved to be super popular with the family. What I love about this location is the decor. On one side it is a simple industrial warehouse. But it has that post modern feel with all of the live plants. The live plants is what I love and the tall ceiling for the plants to fully grow. Though if they are looking for something else, which could really bring this to the top, it would be to have a fish tank. A fish and or water feature around the massive plant island in the middle of the dinning area would be chefs kiss. Of course, what about the food? From here, I find the food here is excellent. Sometimes the flavour combinations are a little weird. But that's typical for the Vancouver foodie scene. Vancouver food scene is a fusion hybrid of local ingredients mixed with traditions from cultures from other places around the world. But the bottom line is the portions are a good size. The platters in particular are large and would feed a very hungry person. You definitely get your moneys worth. You don't get much table service once you are done with your order. But that is all right because of it size and volume for the amount of people who come through. I am totally happy with the self serve station, which could be enhanced and the large setting with all of the very mature plants. If I would offer advice to anyone it would be this. If you are going to be there on the weekend arrive before 9 AM. People start lining up at 10 to 15 minutes before the store officially opens. Plus I find is easier to take the street parking rather than playing with Faith trying to back out with customers who are not paying attention.

We didn't mind a bit waiting for our specialty lattes but the flavors were underwhelming. Snow Velvet Latte $6.20 Double shot espresso, regular milk, vanilla syrup, velvet cream, cocoa dusting. My iced 16 ozs dark chocolate mocha was also not a memorable one. The fruit was actually a good portion and decent selection of blueberries, strawberries, banana and grapes. A couple of very small overripe pieces of kiwi were thrown in but I've seen worse for a kids meal. Food came out after a short wait. Missing from the plates was butter for the toast and waffles, so I'm not sure if they don't usually provide it or they forgot it. The over-easy eggs were more over-medium and the potatoes tasted a bit off to me, but I was full anyway, so I just left them. The restaurant was a bit cold so we ate with our coats on for most of the time. Would be nice if they raised the temperature by 1-2 degrees so it's more comfortable on colder days. Service was mostly ok but our server asked us when we were still halfway through our meals if we wanted anything else and when we said we were good, she did not come back until we flagged her down for the bill. Maybe she was new, but servers should still check on customers for refills of coffee, hot water for tea, etc. Coffee is $3.25 and I did not get a refill due to the disappearing server, so it was quite pricey for one small cup. The meals were ok but for the price, I'd sooner go elsewhere for a better overall experience.

Included is a Summer Corn salad, choice of entree, and daily dessert. I made a reservation for my Mom and I for Wednesday evening at 7pm and the restaurant was quite empty though golf course was buzzing. Pro tip: There is free parking in front of the restaurant but it's also for the golf course and is pretty busy even on a Wednesday after 7pm so plan accordingly as street parking is a bit far away. We ordered the mussels as an additional appetizer in white wine broth and also each ordered the $45 menu. We both selected the Oven Roasted Beef Striploin and for dessert there was a choice of cheesecake with caramel sauce, cinnamon cheesecake, and black forest cake. My Mom chose the black forest cake and I ordered the cinnamon cheesecake. The mussels appetizer dish was quite generous in quantity for $23 and mussels were a good size. Served with 2 slices of toast, the white wine sauce was more watery than other places but still decent. For the $45 course, the Summer Corn salad comes with artisan greens, feta, carrot, radish, tomato, red onion, orange vinaigrette. This was a refreshing light start to the meal and we both really enjoyed it. For the slow roasted beef striploin, it was served with asparagus and bell peppers, mash potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and a red wine demi. The beef striploin was lean but not tough and was super trendy and juicy. Yorkshire pudding, which I'm usually not a fan of, was really warm and soft. Overall, a really solid dish that was generous in portion. Dessert was also solid for both the cinnamon cheesecake and black forest cake. We barely finished the dessert and both of us had leftovers of our entree to take home as we couldn't finish our food. Great value for a 3 course $45 meal for today's economy and the service was really friendly and warm.

The restaurant itself is moderately sized, but they were able to accommodate our party of 12. Restaurant was very dimly lit; most of the light was coming from the setting sun. The menu had as many choices as a typical White Spot. Prices were reasonable, but entrees could be upgraded which could cause prices to escalate if you weren't prudent. For example, I ordered the steak but got the lobster upgrade which raised the price by 30%. And, it was the lower-grade Caribbean lobster instead of the much juicier Atlantic lobster. It took a long time for the food to begin arriving. But, we did have a larger party that night. But, after a long wait, all our food arrived almost all at once. Presentation was good, and portion size was adequate. My steak was medium rare even though I had requested rare. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals, and a few were unable to finish their food. Service was only okay. If they weren't taking your order or delivering your food, you didn't see much of the staff. And, the restaurant wasn't exactly busy either. We did ask a server to take a group photo of our table, and they happily obliged. I'd skip the round of golf and go straight to the restaurant.
