Because there were a lot of people, parking was a bit hard to get but there is street parking. Also I would recommend getting a reservation in advance and if you can't get a type of table online, be sure to call to see if they have availability. The food itself was good! I got the brunch bowl and the flavours were very good! The bowl came with pave potatoes but they were at the bottom so they were a bit soggy compared to if they were on the side for eggs benny. The portion was ok but wished there was a little bit more for the price. My friends all enjoyed their food. The green juice was a nice surprise as it sweet, sour and spicy with Jalapeno, spinach, pineapple.. etc The server was super nice and came by occasionally to check in. read more

Birdies was such a vibe! The food overall was all right, but what really stood out was the curry dipping sauce that came with the fries -- so good and honestly addictive. The strawberry cocktail we had was also really delicious and refreshing. Our server was amazing and super attentive. He kept refilling my Diet Coke without us even having to ask, which we really appreciated. Little things like that make a big difference. The concept/vibe is casual California but elevated. Frist impression upon walking in was exactly as stated. The restaurant is huge and, in the summer, the patio is open. All the servers were friendly and welcoming. I called in to make a reservation for a party of 7 to celebrate a birthday Brunch and our server made the day very nice for us. Reservations call also be boked on-line as well. Majority of us had the Basic Benny or Chilaquiles Brunch Bowl and one had the Smash Burger. All said their dishes were good but the potato pavé (the potato is thinly sliced into multi-layers, baked in butter or cream and then deep fried) the star on the plate. Don't tell me the calories, let me have a moment of joy! They allowed us to bring in a cake which is nice comparted so some that don't allow anymore. A great place for a large gathering or for a simple drink and eats, I would come back. Serving brunch, lunch, dinner, and Happy Hour. On Fridays and Saturdays, they are opening until 1:00am. I went for happy hour and was pleased to hear that their happy hour portions are the same size as their regular menu. Some of their items weren't much cheaper, but some of their bigger ticket items had a significant discount. We ordered the ceviche, volcano roll, and unholy guacamole. To drink, we ordered the guava berry fizz. It would have been nicer if the ceviche portions were bigger, but otherwise it was refreshing and tasty. The chips that came with the dish were so good. I'm not typically a corn tortilla chip person, but I could have kept snacking on their chips. The volcano roll had lots of filling, and we're cut into cute bite sized pieces. It was mildly spicy, but overall it was tasty. The unholy guacamole was also very good. It was the perfect combo of corn, cheese, acid, and spice. I found the guava berry fizz to be disappointing. You could barely taste the guava and it could have been made sweeter. Additionally, the straw that was provided was barely half the height of the glass. We had to use our table knives to stir all the way to the bottom of the drink. One more thing to add is that they have a dog friendly patio and take reservations. read more

A solid option for dinner! I don't go to this area often but I met a friend for dinner here and we had a good time. Staff was really nice and I liked the decor - plant heavy and cute booths. We ordered wine and beer to start and my beer came really cold which I appreciate as I hate a room temp beer. More restaurants need to keep their beer cooler! I ordered the bee sting pizza which was thin crust and had nice flavour. I also got it with a flight of ranch lol the have three kinds - chili crisp. Calabrian chili and Parmesan ranch! Crust could use more flavour overall. We had the tiramisu to finish off which was a highlight. Really great flavour and fluffiness!! All in all a good time was had! read more

Came in for bites of Burnaby on the first day and was not disappointed. Great 3 course menu for $35. I got the ceviche to start, it's a smaller version than the original dish on their main menu but it's a MUST. I would come back time and time again for it because the tortilla chips are double fried and crispy, the fish is smothered with lime and spices. I would eat this as an entree. I got the fennel sausage pasta next. Big portion, I was starving so it hit the spot but I would try other dishes on their menu next time. The sundae to finish is what reminded me of childhood sundaes at McDonald's but so much better. The chocolate you pour over the vanilla ice cream, it hardens and crunches as you take bites. The nuts are a welcome addition. Did not manage to take a photo because I was fascinated from start to finish and fully enjoying my dessert. We came for Bites of Burnaby during month of March 2025. I made reservations for a rainy Saturday lunch with my brothers. They are sweet to savory items. The Bites of Burnaby 3 course set menu is $32! Between the four of us, two ordered from the Bites of Burnaby menu. We had: - The Avo Benny with house salad - the egg was poached perfectly - Birdie's Breakfast - the American cheese oozed beautifully, perfect for IG For the Burnaby Bites: - To Start: Jalapeno Cornbread and Crispy Chicken Lettuce Wrap Duo - Mains: 2 Piece of Fish & Chips and Spicy Calabria Pasta - Dessert: both chose Mini Chocolate Toffee Crunch Sundae The only issue we experienced was the delay of the Spicy Calabria Pasta. Three of us received and consumed 3/4 of our entree and we had to follow up with the staff asking about the missing Spicy Calabria Pasta (4th person watch us eat while waiting for entree). The staff came back and said "We need to fire up another one" and left. We were unsure what happened (did they forget to put the order in? did they give it to another customer?). The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a West Coast and relaxing feels. Tried the - Huevos Rancheros ($19.75): this was quite enjoyable, but it was a little hefty given it was just 4 tortillas, 2 eggs, and little bit of braised beef - Basic Benny ($19) & Avo Benny ($18): bennys were alright, we liked the crispy potatoes on the side, loved the layers in it! - Waffles and Cream ($16.75): not sure, but felt like it was just reheated waffles bought from an outside source - we did enjoy the fresh whipped cream and fresh strawberries! - Prawn Saffron Spaghettini ($25.50): this was a highlight - lots of prawns and had great taste! Came for brunch. Atmosphere is super nice, great decor, bright and airy. Perfect for a sunny day I had the huevos rancheros for $19.75. It had Birria braised beef and the amount of meat was laughable it was so small. The meal was tasty but was only 4 corn tortillas, 2 eggs, couple pieces of meat and not even half an avocado. My husband had the hippie hash bowl and was more grains than potatoes and loaded it was hot sauce to make tasty. The server was nice and friendly and accommodated to make my small child a child size waffle because they don't offer sides or a kids menu. Daily happy hour (3pm-6pm, 9pm-close). Mondays go from 3pm-close. - It's always sunny spritz ($14.75) - best of the four cocktails. Refreshing, tasted like juice. - Passion fruit mai tai ($14.75) - Nitro espresso martini ($14.75) - Bad hombre ($17.50) - 2x Guava berry fizz ($7.50) - Bee sting ($22.00) with gluten aware crust ($2.00) - pizza was okay but crust got cold and crunchy. Didn't love the drizzle of honey. - The forager ($22.00) with gluten aware crust ($2.00) - mushrooms were tasty. One of the more popping restaurants lately!! I've been here for both dinner and brunch and I'd have to say I'm more impressed with brunch! Brunch runs from 10AM-2PM and I'd definitely recommend getting there early if you did not make a reservation. We got there at 10AM and it was pretty empty, but it started getting quite busy at around 10:30AM. Their food were all super flavourful, but at the same time did not feel overbearing. It was just the right amount of flavour and I thoroughly enjoyed each bite! Their chicken lettuce wrap was a delight! The chicken was so tender that I thought it was dish at first. I'm personally not a fan of ginger & onion, but it paired so well in the dish that I didn't mind. It was also a great portion. Guac and chips-- I forgot the actual name but it was light and delicious! Ham bennies-- I was craving a typical brunch so I got their bennies. The egg yolks ran beautifully, their sauce was rich, and I like how they used a soft, fluffy bread, which was easy to cut through. They had an abundance of ham, with thick, thick layers.. maybe even a bit too much in ratio with everything else. The ham was also a little too salty for my liking. The salad and layered potatoes balanced the whole dish out and I was a fan!! The atmosphere in there is lovely-- both inside and out! If it wasn't so cold, I would have loved to sit outside. But the interior was just as nice; simple but trendy and comfortable. The service was also great!! Our waitress was so incredibly sweet and bubbly. We had a great time here overall and would come back more often :) 4/5 stars because their food was good, but not extraordinary. read more

Sad to say that this will be my first one-star review. I never want to give this out, but I guess it had to happen at some point. Came for late night happy hour with some friends and I was shocked by the level of service and quality of food. The restaurant was pretty empty at the time, and yet the waitress made virtually no effort to provide napkins, bring water, or take our order. Each took at least two tries of telling her, and we ended up waiting half an hour just to order some pizza. And oh my God, the pizza was atrocious. Flavor-wise I've probably had worse, but never have I had to throw away half the pizza because the bottom was absolutely burnt. As a pizza aficionado, I prefer some char on my crust, but not when it's a carcinogenic piece of soot that even some vigorous scraping with a knife can't remove. I didn't bother bringing this up with our absentee waitress -- safe to say we were all happy to leave. read more

It is supposed to be a california-inspired place which I suppose is true. Having lived there for several years, it doesnt quite hit the spot but is a close approximation for Vancouver standards. Birdies is cute. You can't miss the bright colours, it's going for modern fun California vibes and it was on my list to check out since it opened in the summer. I came here after watching Barbie and it fit the colorful feels of the movie I'd just seen. It does feel pretty popping, and loud with a dress nice come and see or be seen type of place. I thought it was a refreshing addition to the local dining. So many places all seen to morph into the exact same place, and then boom, there's Birdies with it's gorgeous interior and so much space. Seriously, inside is huge with so many tables and they've got a swanky outdoor patio. Yes, it was busy and bustling so I was thankful for the reservation that I'd made. We sipped on the Blue Crush, Cucumber Jalapeno Ranch Water and a Strawberry Sour Margarita. We dined on guacamole, birria tacos and Baja calamari. Everything was yummy. The Blue Crush was super photogenic, the guac and calamari were perfect for sharing. I'm glad that I came, I ate and I'm sure that I'll be back again. We went there for brunch and ordered the avocado toast with poach eggs and the Hippy Hash with poached eggs as well. 3 of 4 eggs were too hard so we ask if they could redo them. It's a little tricky to get here so make sure you use Google Maps or Waze. A definite destination restaurant for groups - lots of seating available. I had one of the best French Toast ever! It's definitely in my top 10 & I've had a heckava lot of FT over the past 2 years. Absolutely yummylicious! OMG the potatoes that came with the poached eggs (Avo Benny) - goodness gracious absolute deliciousness! The potatoes are cut into thin layers (really thin scallop style), laid ontop of each other, then baked & cut into small squares. The potatoes end up looking like the ultra thin layers in a crossaint. These are definitely not your average brekkie potatoes. This is a new concept restaurant so yes there will be hiccups ie asked for medium poached eggs but they were rather runny - minor issues. However, service was top notch - thank you Julia. Whoa how could I almost forget ... get the Key Lime Bar! Unbelievable! One of the best I've ever had. A great after brunch dessert. Do not pass on it! My rec team played our hearts out one Sunday, but we couldn't climb the mountain and secure the win. It was so tough of a day with tons of ups and downs throughout that long day. The consensus was we needed food and drinks to celebrate how far we got and to look forward to next season. With a bunch of tired folks uninspired due to fatigue, we ended up at Birdies due to the proximity. The pitch we were given was that Birdies is like an Earl's or Cactus Club. Our ability to be respectfully loud and being able to stay for a while reflected that. I very much appreciated we were able to stick around and just chat for a while without any rush. It's a very laid back looking place with TVs strategically placed for us to watch games. I ordered the salmon. It was a bit on the pricey side i feel, but inflation has kinda ruined my sense of what stuff should cost so I wasn't too upset. The food was cooked well and delicious. I wish I did have a bit more but it's a nitpick. I've been lacking on the veggies lately so this definitely helped me make up for it. My friends as well seems happy with their orders of pizza and burgers as well. Overall, it was a tough day not being able to win our Playoffs. Thankfully, Birdies was a solid place for us to chill and just chat with one another. I'll definitely keep Birdies in mind as a place to do that again in future. read more

Unfortunately the slushy drink was not available this time around, I will have to trek out for attempt #2. Highly recommend the pear Dutch baby, it was warm spice and everything nice, light & fluffy, not overly sweet, perfect for a light breakfast. We were surprised the dishes were all very reasonably priced given the level of aesthetics. The drinks were good as well, but a tad more than I'd typically pay for a drink. Come back for the service! They have a parking lot but it's shared with Happy Valley beside it so it might be tricky to find a spot. Although there's pay parking around the block too. Food was reasonably priced for the most part. Drinks were the expensive items on the menu. A bit more than what I'd like to pay but at least the drinks were a decent size. I had the viva forever, I could definitely taste the alcohol in this drink, but it was also refreshing with the passionfruit and lime. Poached pear dutch baby- delicious with the cardamom creme anglaise served with it. It was fluffy and not too sweet. Bee sting pizza- the crust was good, although could have been a bit crisper. It was a good size and decent amount of toppings. I couldn't really taste the hot honey though. Brioche french toast- probably the least favourite dish of the day. The lemon curd and flavour was good, but the bread was disappointing. It didn't seem like the bread was soaked or cooked long enough. The bread was just sort of bland. Also felt they could have added more strawberries to this one. Overall, it was a great brunch experience. Prices are fair and most of the food items were tasty. I'd come back again! Especially for the liquid sunshine slushie (wasn't available this time around ): ). Service was really amazing and it made the experience even better. read more

Fairly new to Burnaby, Birdies Eats & Drinks is owned by the Earls Restaurant Group; they serve a mix of foods for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. While they are owned by Earls, their restaurant concept is entirely separate from Earls. With their spacious dining room and 75 seat patio, they claim to be a Californian inspired restaurant with a fun and relaxed atmosphere. There was definitely a lot of energy in the air. A good place to come to if boisterous crowds of people is what you enjoy. Personally, I didn't find this place to be at all relaxing. I felt more relaxed once we left the restaurant and went to a quieter place where I could clearly hear what people were saying to me. The Calamari was tasty although we weren't too crazy about the raw sugar snap peas that came with it. I personally enjoyed the avocados and tomatoes, but just didn't care for the snap peas. The Marg pizza was decent. My daughter and I shared this pizza. We were happy enough with it; however, it wasn't anything worth raving about. A crispier crust would be an improvement on it. The Kick'n Fried Chicken Sandwich was an impressive sight to behold. The chicken was stacked incredibly high and the pieces of chicken were really thick too. My husband bit into the chicken though and much to his dismay, discovered that those thick pieces of chicken came with a price. The chicken was not properly cooked and was actually a bit raw still in the centre. We told our waiter and the kitchen sent a replacement sandwich. This time, the pieces of chicken were thinner but properly cooked through. The manager came and apologized to us; when we received our bill, we noticed that they had removed the Chicken Sandwich from our bill. We were happy with how they handled the situation with the raw undercooked chicken; however, our friends said that they had ordered a couple of drinks but had never received their drinks. It seems like they could improve upon their service somewhat. I'm a strong believer in second chances so I might still come back here again sometime, but only if it's a patio table as the dining room was far too loud for my taste. Went to try this Sunday for brunch as wifey had heard about them opening. We were promptly greeted and asked for our name and phone number I'm assuming to track patron #'s as there currently was no wait and we were seated right after giving that info. I then got a text from the establishment saying I've been added to the (non existent) wait list. Our server (Janna) came and was pleasant and very helpful, she took our beverage request. Wife coffee with milk and myself coffee with cream. She made sure the milk choice was ok and asked if 2%was fine. We said that was ok. She had also filled our water glasses at the same time as well. We had already looked at the menu and were ready to order by the time our drinks came. Wife ordered the brioche French toast and I got the birdies burger, sunnied up(add fried egg) and chose yam fries from the option of reg, yam or salad. The burger was good, maybe slightly overseasoned for my taste but good. Was very juicy. The yam fries and Chipotle mayo were typical but delicious. I didn't try wife's French toast but she said it was ok so I take it was your standard not blow your mind but decent variety. Wifey was going to get a dessert but due to her already getting a sweet item she wasn't feeling it. Our server suggested getting appy instead but wifey was concerned about the serving size being too large. With a smile or server said she could get one lettuce wrap instead of the full 5 of them they could do that for us so wifey didn't have to have a full order. We were surprised and grateful so we said yes. Well wifey said yes I was full. Wifey said the chicken lettuce wrap was quite good, moist chicken flavourful accompaniments. we made resos through open table for sunday, 5:30 pm , for a party of eight for happy hour. apparently birdies is a part of earls and has taken over earl's location on 3850 lougheed hwy in burnaby, while earls moved to the amazing brentwood. birdies is a laid back, casual california style themed restaurant serving burgers, nachos, pizzas, bowls, and cocktails. the interior is spacious with bistro style and standard seating, they also sell goods to go at their provisions store, and have a pick up window on the outside. we ordered a few items from their happy hour menu and some from the regular menu. i am impressed that our server, bukhosi, was patient with our indecisive group, knowledgeable about vegan options, and accommodating. two people in our group mentioned they were sharing the fish and chips, and he separated the entree in to two plates, which was thoughtful and appreciative. another person in our party ordered three hazy pale ales during happy hour and he staggered bringing them out, to keep them cold. i liked that they also had a few milk bottles of water at our table. the restaurant buzzed with activity, yet it managed to maintain a comfortable noise level. this created a relaxed ambiance where conversation flowed effortlessly, contributing to the overall chill vibe of the place. i enjoyed the birdies mule (vodka, ginger, lime, soda), it was ice cold, refreshing, and creatively served in a soup can container with a bamboo like straw. we shared the signature fries, calamari, and salt & pepper birdies wings, to start and ordered the following: impossible burger and fries poke bowl 6 oz steak and fries with a west coast salad chips and salsa big wok chicken bowl (but without the chicken, plus 8 pieces of tofu for vegan diner, additional $4) 2 pieces of fish & chips birdies burger and fries the service was commendable, but unfortunately, the happy hour offerings fell short and the food was just okay, nothing stood out. read more
