Our server was very kind and luckily was able to get us the last table on the bar side. The portions of the food were very large, especially considering it was happy hour prices. And I must say, the lamb is probably the best lamb you can get in all of Vancouver. The only thing is we wish there was a bit more space in the bar area, as it got real crowded real fast. We returned to Barra 41 in Kerrisdale to continue to celebrate our birthday tradition. My friend had a delicious looking margarita, which looked very tempting to try. My other friend and I had a couple of glasses of white wine. We shared Pita with Homus and Tzatzili Sauce, Marinated Olives, Honey Garlic Chicken Wings, which were literally finger lickin good!!!!!!! We shared a Halloumi Salad and finished our meal with a piece of Carrot Cake and a shot of Bailey's. The service was the best and the atmosphere very cheery and friendly. read more

(Finishing up some half-written reviews of visits of the past.) True confessions: We were not attracted to this place for the 'hip bar' vibe or even the food. My wife was trying to treat me to the Golden State Warriors' season opener, and Barra 41 has televisions which show sports events. As it turns out, the tv was not terribly large, but hey, any port in a storm. We ordered: - Burger - Calamari - Dark matter beer - Carrot cake I think my wife liked the beer (I don't partake), and she loved the carrot cake. But I thought the main food was average and not memorable (though from the menu description, the burger should have been bigger than average). What I do remember is a) the place is apparently connected to Minerva's (the Greek spot next door) and was upscale and a bit pricey for my taste; and b) the pizza looked like the ticket. Interestingly, during this pandemic season, they seem to have managed pretty well. Their front windows pull back completely, making the restaurant pretty much open air (at least from an observer's point of view; haven't sat inside). Good for them. Bottom line: If it says anything, we haven't been back, even though the place is walking distance from our front door. To be fair, I'm thinking that if a person were looking for an upscale bar or nicer (and more expensive) food in a casual atmosphere, they might have a different evaluation. Thank you Barra 41 for being in Kerrisdale! There are literally no other bars in our neighborhood. Not fancy or trendy, just super comfortable with warm service. We have seen all ages from kids with their parents enjoying the casual food to 80 yr olds enjoying a glass of wine with a book. I've tried their sangria, Caesars and today the cocktail of the day was a daiquiri and all have been great. Happy hour from 3-6 pm and the cocktail was $8. Apparently they will kick you out after one and 3/4 hours to make room for new guests, even though after happy hour the place empties out. Not sure what this strategy is supposed to achieve, strangest marketing I have ever heard of in a bar. read more

In the past, I thought this place was pretty good but now I find this place has poor quality food and the management makes me not want to return. I ordered a pizza and it had a dried out crust what tasted like Philly cheese spread, a few flakes of spinach, and it was absolutely tasteless. Not worth anywhere near what they charge. It was also not fully cooked - we left half of it behind. This place acts like a high end restaurant but it has become low standards. We also had a very unpleasant experience with the manager. We told him about our issues with the food and found him to be very off putting. To top it off, the smell of his breath was not ideal as he spoke in a rude manner to us. Working in a restaurant, you would think this would be a priority. Think they share the kitchen with next door's Minerva and that's a good thing. The Calamari is crispy on the outside, tender inside, and huge in size. The lamb chops are also tasty, but definitely deserve better plating. Guess this (relatively) new kid on the block is for those who find Minerva too conventional, or people who just want a drink in a trendier setting. The one place to grab a bite and drink in Kerrisdale open past 9pm! Open until 11pm with an earlier close on Sunday. The two best things about this place is the service and the vibe. Since it is a small bar, the bartender is able to serve everyone in a seamless manner. For the most part, the bar is reflective of the demographic of the Kerrisdale community. Mostly middle age to an older crowd so you don't have to worry about any belligerent students. They managed to achieve the calm, comfy, casual vibe that anyone would look forward to any day of the week. Drinks are pretty average $6-$10 for a beer. For food, you can get anything from bar bites to a full dinner. They share the kitchen with a longstanding Greek restaurant, Minerva, hence why their food isn't just typical bar bites. They even serve Salmon. Definitely try their roasted potatoes if garlicky potatoes are your kryptonite! read more

I am hesitantly writing this review as we have been patrons of Minerva's for years and recently Barra. Today I was totally humiliated by one of the owners. I was to meet my friend at Barra who arrived early and was sent to the bar area that is part of Minerva's which is right along the path to Barra. It was very tight and lots of people were walking around us. We were told that the outside table that initially was going to be 15 minutes was 45 minutes so we decided to leave.I told my friend I didn't like where we were sitting and that part of the restaurant. Than a table happened to be ready for us but this young rude man comes and kicks us out of his restaurant. I had no idea what he was doing. He said no one insults my restaurant. I was in total shock. I had no idea what this man was talking about. It was extremely humiliating. I tried to explain to him I love Minerva's but I didn't like where we were sitting as they was too much indoor traffic and he literally said get out. I am still in shock. He must have heard part of my conversation and lost it. I understand people are in high stress because of COVID but was a big disappointment. Very poor manners read more

This place is great. Awesome service and even better food. A great cozy atmosphere and always buzzing with people. Kerrisdale was in desperate need of this place. I was there for Christmas family lunch. This place was located at the corner pf the street next to it's Italian restaurant. Apparently, this place shares the kitchen with the main restaurant and I believe the owner used this place mostly for lounging. We ordered a couple of dishes from Tiger Prawns, Pulled lamb Shoulder Sandwich (open-faced) and Lamb Souvlaki. I ordered the Salmon Sandwich for lunch and I was not impressed. The dish tasted good but it was poorly presented. The whole dishes was like they cooked from previous night uncooked portion products. The salmon was the small piece from the end of the fillet and my salad had more lettuce stem than its leaves. I guess the other dishes fell to the same category, either its pre-made or left-over uncooked product. I felt a little rip-off. Anyway I would not go back there for while but may be on;y drinks next time. read more

Nice cocktails. Good place in the neighborhood for a night out. Lamb was fairly tasty but the ribs are just...meh. Relied on lots of sauce for flavour, nothing too special. If you are looking to go on an expensive date night out, there are better places at this price point. But if you're looking to remain in the neighborhood, it's a good choice. read more

Servers are nice once you get to know them. The food is excellent (try meat/cheese tray, calamari, pizza). Drinks are decent. Happy hour is available. Literally the only "bar" in Kerrisdale 41th street. They turn down the lights so it's got a good vibe. Some of the tables are very close together. The place is small so the acoustics are not great. It gets super loud! I wish they would put up sound baffles on the ceiling or something because it's a bit draining to talk or hear when it's at capacity. And I'm not some quite, old guy, that's afraid of noise I come here all the time (it just gets annoying after a while). Other than that they seem to play classic rock a lot so that's a positive. Probably due to the much older clientele. Definitely check it out, you will like it overall. And the restaurant attached to it had a big selection of great food. read more

We loved this place. It is a smaller establishment with a good choice of interior and window seating. The menu, although short, covers pretty much anything that you could want and is reasonably priced. The combination cheese and meat plate appetizer is particularly good value and excellent quality. Barra 41 is one of of a kind. I go there any chance I get. Andy and the staff are amazing. Myself and my parents feel like we're family the moment we walk in the door. The atmosphere is ideal for social gatherings, as well as an intimate dinner with your loved one. The food is the usual lounge food but not once has it be "pub food". The wings are perfectly cooked, pizza is hearty and made from scratch. Everything on the menu is done to perfection. Now here's the best part....the cocktails. The menu is complimented with your classic cocktails and your choice of whatever you want on the rocks. Andy has taken all these and created the ultimate mixologist dream. One of my favourites is the lychee mule- strawberry-infused vodka, lime juice, vanilla syrup, lychee jasmine kombucha my advice to anyone reading this is buy a gift card next time for a friends graduation, parents anniversary, etc, and get the invite to go with them! It's a win win situation, I've done it myself It's an experience that's worth every minute and every cent. Being a young adult, all I can say to them is thank you! I really like Barra 41, and I think that in the near future, they will warrant 5 stars. They opened fairly recently and don't seem to have quite figured out the kinks as of yet. The service was very friendly but also very slow. They also ran out of the right size plates at some point, which I thought was a bit strange, but again, might be due to their relatively recent opening. The food was very good, with a delicious assortment of mediterranean mezza and full menu options (The menu currently displayed on yelp, with flatbreads and no pizzas is out of date, there are now pizzas and full main courses as well). There is also a great drink selection with a nice assortment of cocktails. Some of the options are a bit on the pricey side, but well worth it. You can certainly eat for less than $30, but if you are planning on having a drink or two, it will probably run each person $40-50. I would certainly recommend it - it's also a nice, trendy, fun addition to the selection of available options in Kerrisdale. read more
