I feel like this review is best served with a graph-mathematical-like representation. Ok...here's the list. Likes: Pizza Fries Service (Melissa was great) Dislikes: Tequila Shot (tasted watered-down) Pita bread (not fresh) Hot Wings (anorexic & overcooked - dry) Bathrooms (dirty) With those two categories in mind, if you wanna go someplace to drink anything other that tequila and mingle, and don't mind not hearing the other person while they talk, don't care much about your personal space...you might like it. If not, then you might wanna skip this place. That pretty much sums it up for CAVO.

Mussels, honey garlic chicken wings, and trio of dips with pita

Planned to meet a girl friend for Happy Hour in Downtown so was on the hunt for a new joint that had a good Happy Hour menu and deals for both food and drinks. Stumbled across Cavo and we liked that Happy Hour was until 6pm so made a reservation. It's a long restaurant that can easily be missed as the name of the restaurant is pretty high up on the entranceway of the busy Granville strip. Got there and got seated within a few minutes. It has cute decor with a few neon signs posted. The high top tables were pretty small so was glad we got a regular table. We ordered a bunch of Happy Hour deals to share - honey garlic chicken wings, truffle fries, French style mussels, and trio of dips with pita. All the portion sizes of the food were great, especially the mussels. For $15, the plate was full of mussels and there weren't any empty mussel shells. Though the mussels were small in size, it was a great deal for $15! The trio of dips was also delicious with taziki, roasted red pepper hummus, and spicy feta. We especially enjoyed the spicy feta and the hummus - yum! Good food, good portions, and decent price points. The music does get really loud at random times but otherwise a great place for drinks and food.

This is a great spot for Vancouver locals, or Vancouver tourists. If you are looking for a vibe...This is it. For this type of bar you'd expect small portions and faster food. It's not. If you are a Vancouver long time local than you remember the days when you'd line up at Stephos for food that you know you will be enjoying packaged in that paper bag at the end of the night. This is like that, but at 30%. The portions are large. Now let's get into details. Why the 3 stars? To give an honest review I' say 3.5, but yelp doesn't offer half star review options. My partner received their food 9 minutes before me. I told him to eat his food. (Why should we both suffer with hunger?). He ordered the fish and chips. I'm assuming they rushed his food out because it was probably sitting under a heat lamp for a while. (The fries were cold). But the white fish was incredible! Flakey delicious goodness. If the fish and chips were served completely warm I'd rate this dish an 8.5. I got my meal which was the chicken. The sides were DE-LI-CIOUS! The eggplant, orange bell peppers, and mushroom combination in a feta creamy goodness. HEAVEN. Just too many potatoes. I don't like to complain about extra food...So take-sies-back-sies. I ate about 2 potatoes which was the equivalent of one small baby white potato. My take out meal consisted of a bunch of potatoes...8 small potatoes to be exact. I have no shame in that take out game. So I'll be cooking these up to add to my lunch tomorrow afternoon. Vibe wise...this is the spot. If you like to people watch this is the spot. Visiting Vancouver? This is the spot. A Vancouver local wanting to potentially bump into friends? This is the spot. If I could give my yelp opinion? Just serve food to a couple at the same time. I'm lucky... I've been with my partner for 4 years. If we were on a first date? It would have been awkward. Him having to decide whether or not to eat or not. My partner held off as long as he could. I knew how hungry he was and told him to eat. Also... The overcooked chicken and cold fries. No bueno. I'll be going back. I like the vibes! The chicken sauce and sides? I'll eat it without the chicken because it's that good! I recommend. Would give higher stars if the food was served at the same time and not cold. Maybe it was an off night because it was a Fri-yay.

    RECENT LIBRA BIRTHDAY PARTY

We have been visiting Cavo Bar and Kitchen for many months now and I wanted to leave some really positive reviews for them. Their food menu is really impressive; the pizzas are very generous in size, great fresh toppings, and my favourite has to be the one called "DONT TELL DONNA" - its a greek inspired pizza. Their greek-focused menu is a really nice change from other bars that offer terrible grease-fried food options. They also have a super cute back patio that's great for large events, parties, and gatherings. The staff are well trained, and very efficient when it comes to executing birthday parties. We recently had a dinner of 20, and the service team ensured that everything was taken care of. We definitely recommend this for: - first dates - just drinks - late dinners - snacks and appies - pre drinks before going out to the bar district - intimate gatherings but be ready for the kick ass DJ that turns out great tunes in the evenings On Thursdays evenings, when we normally venture out, they also have a CRAZY FUN DJ crushing fun tunes. I highly recommend coming here, as a spot to meet up and catch up over a fun snack and some cocktails before getting ready to party all night with friends.

Come here before heading out to a concert at the two major venues nearby! I had many a sangria and shared the tacos, which were perfectly spicy and tasty. I find the restaurant more upscale than anything else on Granville. Great little stop. Also noticed that you can hire out the back patio for events. My only complaint is waiting for the 3 available bathrooms. For some reason they were always occupied.

I like the ambiance. It's a warm Sunday, and they opened those big doors to let the breeze in. They have a cozy patio. I had lunch with a friend. And the staff accommodated us right away. It wasn't busy, too, thank God. I ordered tacos with crispy chicken. The chicken were a tad bit overly done. We ordered calamari, I love it. They put just enough coating to make it crispy. I chose margarita passion fruit (I wish they would go easy on the salt around the glass rim... but I don't really mind that much. Lunch was good. We were served promptly... and did I say they have very nice staff? I will encourage you guys to check the place out.

Definitely try to go at opening or when it is not busy, as the dine-in experience is memorable - they place your order in a long wooden board to make it a beautiful spread. We got the Manoush'eh Special which has ground beef, pomegranate, etc and Sham Style which is shaped like a boat. We also tried the yogurt drink which pairs well with the dishes. The only con is that this place does not have free water, but it is no problem to have our own water bottles supplementing the meal. We also got the lentil soup which is pretty good. Definitely sufficient to share one to try, but the Manoush'eh outshines the rest of the items. I loved the quality and texture of the Manoush'eh and just the breads in general. It is a lot of food for 2 people so if you want a snack, you can definitely just share 1. Some people go here for the wraps too. Overall, an affordable restaurant with good food. We got the most expensive items and it was less than 50 CAD all-in, but a lot of the items are around the 10 CAD mark.

From the moment we sat down, the experience was something special. They start you off with warm, grilled bread alongside a gorgeous pool of fresh olive oil, and here's the touch that sets the tone for the whole evening: the oregano garnishing that oil is cut tableside from a live plant. It's a small detail, but it tells you everything about how much this kitchen cares. We went all in on the menu and have zero regrets. The spread platter was outstanding, multiple dips, beautifully presented with soft bread, each one distinct and well-crafted. The warm marinated olives were rich and aromatic, the kind of thing you keep reaching back into. The calamari was perfectly fried, light, crispy, served with a creamy tzatziki dipping sauce. For mains, the whole lobster with fries was a showstopper, generous, fresh, and served with clarified butter and a tangy sauce. The halibut was elegant and delicate, plated with roasted vegetables and large capers in a way that felt genuinely refined. The cocktails and drink program held up beautifully throughout the meal too. This is the kind of restaurant that makes a night feel like an occasion. The food is thoughtful, the ingredients are clearly quality, and the atmosphere delivers. And Yuri, our waiter, was absolutely fantastic. If you're on the fence because of that rating -- ignore it. How we got here: my lunch appointment went long and I was hungry, needed to grab something quick before the next meeting. I had seen a sign somewhere in the area for a lovely Greek gyro previously. I wasn't able to find the sign/restaurant I had seen previously. We walked past this place and while I was trying to figure out whether or not they offered a Greek gyro, one of the workers there essentially pulled us in off the street and put a menu in front of us. They have so many images-everywhere it was a bit of a challenge to figure it out quickly. I saw the shaved lamb on the right of the "cooking area" so I figured I would get what I was asking for. In the restaurant, that was basically empty at lunch, I figured out why he grabbed us, they are probably desperate for business. They also charged us like we were the only paying customers. Most places offer a lunch combo meal, gyro, drink and fries for a single low price but our order of two combos was nearly $60!!!! I have receipt!!! (See attached). What we got was definitely not shaved lamb. The meat was chunky, beef stew LIKE meat and as I am unfortunately eating this as I write this review I can't tell you it tastes AWFUL!! They probably get this s#it cheap!!! On it, was some kind of sauce, also not tzatziki. As they are Persian and not Greek I suspect they don't even know what tzatziki sauce is! You can tell from the pictures the sauce isn't right, the vegetables don't look fresh, the bread is stale The $7 order of fries is disgusting as well. I wanted to treat myself to ordering lunch out. I will NEVER patronize this place again, I dare call it a restaurant, it should be permanently closed. I think I have to vomit now to save myself! Please consider this WARNING a gift. My time is EXTREMELY VALUABLE and I don't have time for this kind of food crime or BS. I call FRAUD!!! (I was going to post a photo of what a gyro should look like so you could easily compare but decided against it because I didn't want there to be any confusion about what you will actually get when you dare to eat here!)
