I wasn't able to find the sign/restaurant I had seen previously. We walked past this place and while I was trying to figure out whether or not they offered a Greek gyro, one of the workers there essentially pulled us in off the street and put a menu in front of us. They have so many images-everywhere it was a bit of a challenge to figure it out quickly. I saw the shaved lamb on the right of the "cooking area" so I figured I would get what I was asking for. In the restaurant, that was basically empty at lunch, I figured out why he grabbed us, they are probably desperate for business. They also charged us like we were the only paying customers. Most places offer a lunch combo meal, gyro, drink and fries for a single low price but our order of two combos was nearly $60!!!! I have receipt!!! (See attached). What we got was definitely not shaved lamb. The meat was chunky, beef stew LIKE meat and as I am unfortunately eating this as I write this review I can't tell you it tastes AWFUL!! They probably get this s#it cheap!!! On it, was some kind of sauce, also not tzatziki. As they are Persian and not Greek I suspect they don't even know what tzatziki sauce is! You can tell from the pictures the sauce isn't right, the vegetables don't look fresh, the bread is stale The $7 order of fries is disgusting as well. I wanted to treat myself to ordering lunch out. I will NEVER patronize this place again, I dare call it a restaurant, it should be permanently closed. I think I have to vomit now to save myself! Please consider this WARNING a gift. I had a fantastic dining experience at this Persian restaurant! The food was outstanding--rich, authentic flavors that really stood out with fresh ingredients and quality flavor development in every dish. Portion sizes were generous, perfect for sharing or taking home leftovers. From the perfectly seasoned kebabs to the aromatic rice and stews, everything tasted homemade and deeply satisfying. If you're a fan of Persian cuisine--or curious to try it--this place is a must. Great food and great value. Grabbed a bowl from Mediterrian Grill that's on Denman st. right by English Bay. Pro tip: if you plan on eating this at the beach, know that it can be messy and their portions are huge so it's not the easiest beach side snack. Having said that, it is definitely worth it! I got their salad bowl with mixed meat (chicken, lamb, and beef). They have many salad options but if you don't specify which one you want, they will just give you their usual salad. I opted for their greek feta salad. They have a dine-in space but this place is mostly for take out. Their service was pretty fast and they were very busy (it's summer time in Vancouver so makes sense). Their menu is huge and they have lots to try from. Be careful. This place will have you developing regular cravings for it. I'll tell you why. First off, it's not a rip-off. Comon you know most places are a rip-off these days, but we go anyway. This place isn't. It's fair. It's affordable. Look at the menu. I was hesitant to order the Chicken thinking it might be dry. To cook chicken and have it end up juicy, tender and smokey well seasoned takes skill, and this place from the outside looks almost fast food, but it's a different story with the food. The beef shawarma plate was huge. I think enough for two and also tasty. Not something I would order and that's only because the only beef I eat are either Filet Mignon or Ribeye. However, I did try a bite and it was decent. The rice, taziki, white sauce...all of it really hit the spot. The service? I walked into the restaurant because I saw and outside sign that said there was a special of 1 pc ground beef kabob, rice, salad and pop for $13.99. When I walked in, I asked the guy if there were any lunch specials. He didn't give me the special menu, I was too rushed to check the sign again outside. I ordered 2pc ground beef kabob for $16.99. The picture showed rice and salad. I asked if I could get salad instead of the rice. He quickly charged me for a side salad. I almost paid but saw that the payment wasn't correct ($22.85). I asked him that I wanted less rice and more salad. He said I couldn't do that. I asked him if they could just swap the rice for salad, again he said no. I said okay, so the picture shows that there's salad, and he said yes, it comes with a bit of salad. I told him that I just wanted it as is and no extra salad. He gave me a dirty look and charged me the regular $16.99. I left in a rush to see that there was no salad in the meal. I didn't have a good experience because I could tell they were trying to gauge me over a bit of salad. In the end, I didn't get any pop or salad, and paid more than I should have. read more

This place is on the row of donair shops in one block. I was happy with the service but the donair was only ok for my taste. However the price is good and they really try hard to give you the best service that they can. It is a decent place if you like sitting on a patio with a view of the beach just over your shoulder. Food is good. But the entire dining experience was awful. One reason: Music was too damn loud. I asked them to turn it down and they did but then it slowly crept back up again. I was there with my family and we could not talk to each other comfortably. What was especially stupid about it was we were the only ones in there until eventually another family group came and sat down and I could see that there was an elderly woman as part of the group and she was clearly uncomfortable. When I asked again for them to turn the music down that table thanked me. When I left I politely explained to the manager that I wouldn't be back. He apologized and blamed the staff. "They're young," he said. What??? Whom are they there to serve? The staff? Maybe it's their place, they can do what they want. But I don't accept that. A business exists partly with the good graces of the neighbourhood. But they seem to be thumbing their noses at half the people here. read more

Ugh, on my way to pick up a falafel wrap and google tells me this place and Babylon are my 2 options. I decide to go to the one who seems busier! Regrets start now. First, they have some guys with menus aggressively patrolling the sidewalk. I walk though the cluster f&c! and hit the counter. The guy taking orders was in between meals! I ordered a falafel wrap, no dairy, and spicy. It came 5 minutes later hot! I was so excited! But it was dry as hell. We enjoyed our meal here. My friend had the lamb shawarma with a beer. I had the chicken shawarma with water. A regular size is huge and a large size is enormous. We had the regular size and it was more than satisfying. The salad is fresh and crispy. The rice tastes perfect and nicely flavoured. The chicken was also tender and tasty. The staff here are polite and give the right amount of attention. Seating was approppriate with the covid restrictions. The price was right, especially considering the large portions. I recently did a walk-in and take out at this restaurant and the venue itself is quite small, quite lively, and very casual. I wouldn't recommend this place for a date or anything like that, but it works for a quick casual bite if your near the beach at English bay. I have gone here numerous times, but not for a while. With Covid restrictions over in downtown Vancouver I'm going out more and tried this place out again after a haircut. For those of you who don't know Denman Street there is about six similar, to equivalent, places on the road including this one which is attached to two others. I've never been able to understand if they're the same business or not, but I don't think so. I can't remember what the reasoning is but one of my best friends says to always go here instead of the other places. They have good specials to combine a dish with a drink, usually beer, which I don't drink anymore but it is a good deal pricewise. As others have said they typically have someone on the street showing you the menu which can be offputting for some, but I don't mind considering the competition in the area. It's always very quick and in fact today the young guy who took my order had the hand held credit card machine at the ready and it was quite nice. With tax and tip it was about $18 for a regular size chicken Shawarma plate. A few things I would say are that there is a lot of plastic being produced in this place. Far more than I think needs to be and to the extent that I'm actually pretty disappointed. The other is that I was asked if I wanted it spicy, said yes, and it wasn't spicy at all. I should know by now that spicy in Vancouver means Vancouver-Spicy, which I think they do for the tourists. If you want a spicy dish you're gonna have to ask for it properly. Very tasty and filling nonetheless. They have seating inside although it is cramped, and really nice tables across the sidewalk in what used to be parking spots on Denman. I really like those. They have a full bar with draft beer from large and small breweries, as well as cans and bottles. You can get soft drinks and juices too. I can't really compare this to many other places because they all kind of run together for me but I did take a bunch of pictures and try to take note of the quality and cleanliness, which were OK for what is a pretty divey place. read more

I don't normally right reviews on Yelp but I think I have to for this place. They will never punch in the exact price compared to what you ordered if you add it up from the menu above the cashier. Always count the total before paying. They tried to do it 3 times to me in 2021 and recently a few days ago in 2022. I love their chicken rice platter, their lamb sucks so get their chicken. The large size only adds a small potato for extra $2.50 or so lol. Sucks that I like the food but the cashier / owners are super scammy as fuck. Like they would put $31.00 when it was $13.50 x 2. Then I said something and they redid it to $29.00. Like ..... do you not know the simple food tax or are you too dumb to calculate it? Never tip and never will after shady business practices. It is one of the best restaurants in Vancouver. It has kind servers who will provide delicious food to you at reasonable price. Moreover, its draught beer is wonderful. Impressed by a few things: 1. quite a wine selection to have w/ your meal 2. also a big selection food behind the display, in a buffet-style but they will obviously serve you. Nicely labeled as pics show. 3. good table seating & window action, right on denman. 4. the baked cake-like with raisins just melted w every bite, soft texture. You can usually ask for flavored rice at no extra charge: dill or berbery are good choices. Good prices and portions if it was anywhere, esp for the location, a block from the beach. Cons: Can be crowded at times. And, yes, it's faaar from fancy. Well, it is a fast food place, so the service is on par with fast food places. Personally, as long as the food's OK, in these kind of places, I am not rating either the cashier or the servers as I would in a full sit-down restaurant. Smiling and kowtowing ? Took a pit stop to get a late lunch with my gf. The location of the restaurant is really good, walking distance from English bay Beach. By reading a couple of reviews here I can't say anything about the cashier since my gf ordered while I found a table and waited outside also she didn't mention anything negative either. Service was mediocre but the server that was running around is really friendly by the way he talked to other patrons while I observed and asked us if we needed anything after we received our order.
