    Moussaka

We felt like some Greek food and found Taki's Tavern on Davie St. My husband had the Kleftiko( roast lamb shoulder) and he said it was ok. I ordered the Beef moussaka. It tasted quite gamy, must have used some ground lamb+beef. Bechamel sauce on Mashed potato cap not much taste. There's also minty sliced carrots, oregano potatoes and rice pilaf. We also shared the fried calamari appe. Quite a bit of food on the plate for both dinners as you can see in the pics. Reasonable prices and wait staff carries a smile constantly. This is just a $$ bistro so our expectations are met.

Still as good as I remember. This made my trip from Seattle all worthwhile. Thank you Taki's! The service was great and good and drinks stupendous. We also got the cold appetizer plate but it was so good I forgot to take a pic of it.

Food - horrible . The beef mousaka was not cooked properly, looks like they just quickly boiled it without taste. They charged a separate price for Pita when ordering Hummus - it should be included in the price of hummus Very long wait. Service super slow . Food is terrible - small salad on the side you , rice was bland. Potatoes was overcooked, [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is okay[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . [[HIGHLIGHT]]Washroom is dirty and stinky. They need to put air freshener . The floor is wet and looks like it was never cleaned - dirty washroom[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I believe there are no staff with a Greek background to serve Greek food that's why the food is so terrible . Don't go here!

Very overcooked beef, more like leather

Was good before but the food quality has declined. Looks to be under new management. No more free complimentary bread, smaller portions, pricier and the food doesn't taste as good as before. My beef souvlakia tasted bland and it was very over cooked almost to the point of "leatherish". This was our go-to Greek restaurant but definitely the last time we visit

    Seafood combo. Big portions

The food here is not bad but not amazing either. Portions are big so you won't walk out hungry. The seafood combo and the chicken skewers were decent quality, but flavor is a bit lacking. The potato didn't taste that good. Rice was fine. Ambiance and decor are a 3/5 as it doesn't add much to the dining experience.

Food was wonderful and authentic. Pricing was fair. The server was busy when we were there but was very kind and helped us when we had questions. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is low light with great music and blue and white paint.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would go again.

Greek platter. Enough for two and leftovers too! There was also a Greek salad.

Tried the Greek Platter dinner for two and we were completely satisfied with dinner and enough leftovers for another meal for both of us. Cute atmosphere and almost romantic with the old world decor. The service was friendly and not obtrusive. Food was really good - typical Greek fare well done. Compared to the busier restaurant just down the street, we were glad we didn't have to wait for a table or get a crappy table. Will come back here again.

Takis has been put on earth to satisfy your craving for roast lamb shanks. I don't know what else is on the menu.

The restaurant is tiny, with only a handful of indoor seats and a small patio outside. We stopped by for an early dinner around 5:30 PM and still waited about 15 minutes for a table. By the time our food arrived, there was already a line forming. If you're planning to dine in, I'd recommend coming early or ordering takeout. We ordered the Mixed Grilled Platter (40 CAD) because we wanted to sample a little bit of everything, and it was an incredible value. It easily fed two people, and every type of meat was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The biggest surprise? The French fries. They were ridiculously crispy and ended up stealing the show. I honestly wish we had ordered an extra side. The pita was also warm, soft, and delicious. I just wish they had included a bit more of it. To top it all off, they brought us a complimentary dessert, which was such a thoughtful gesture and made an already great experience even better. This is absolutely a place I'd recommend if you're visiting Gastown, and it's definitely somewhere I'd come back to!

While it does not specifically say it is for two, my husband and I split it and it was a good amount of food for the two of us! The chicken was tasty but I thought the lamb was slightly overcooked. We have been back a few times to get the gyros and we have loved them! They are so good and very filling. A little pricy as it is restaurant prices but worth it for a fun night in. The shop is quite small so I would recommend to go.

The experience was similar each time. The space is nice, but it was very quiet during all my lunch visits, presumably because of all the construction work on Broadway. I would assume that was why the did this promotion, to bring in cusotmers. During my visits, I tried the following: - Dip Tasters - Good. Simple, but all the dips were good - Moussaka - Good. Classic recipe. At $12,60, very good price, but not sure I would pay a full$21. - Lamb Youvetsi - Good. Good flavours. At $16.80, a good value. - Souvlaki Platter - Very good. Best value at $17.40, it was a full plate of food which I couldn't finish in one sitting. Had to take a portion home for feed myself for dinner. I will mention that during my first visit, sides weren't provided for the Lamb our Moussaka. But subsequent visits, they were, so there was some inconsistency here. But it's hard to say whether I was unlucky the first visit, or just lucky on the last two visits. Service was pretty good each time. No conerns. Considering the 40% discount offer, it was a very good deal. Good food, good service for really good prices. That's why I went three times!

The building is hidden by construction scaffolding but it's conveniently located close to Broadway-City Hall Station. It was a last-minute decision to come here, so I called about an hour before we planned on arriving to reserve a table. They were pretty busy (Saturday 7 pm) so I'm glad I called. The three of us each ordered our own dishes but shared a little bit of everything so I got to try the Beyond souvlaki platter (my dish), the grilled humboldt squid, and the lentil salad, all of which were amazing. I was really excited about the Beyond souvlaki because I love the souvlaki flavours but don't eat the usual souvlaki meats, so this was the first instance where I was able to try this sort of thing at a restaurant. The souvlaki skewer was bursting with flavour and all of the sides were delicious, the potatoes practically melted in my mouth. The lentil salad also exceeded my expectations - there was a substantial serving of lentils and lots of dill to give it a fresh herby flavour. The squid fro what I could tell (I don't eat squid very often at all) was also well-prepared, very tender and, like everything else, flavourful. Prices are not cheap but their portions are very generous. I appreciated the big vegetarian/vegan section of the menu! They even have vegan feta available as a feta substitute for the salads, so all of the vegetarian dishes except the spanakopita are or can be veganized. Our server was nice and the service was very timely. The atmosphere was calm. This was a great choice for us! I'd love to go back and really bring my appetite so I can try some dessert too!

We started with the calamari and the house spreads - we had the hummus, tzatziki, and roasted eggplant dip. It was so good that we had to order more pita bread. For our mains, we shared three different dishes: short ribs, lamb meatballs, and lamb roasted shoulder. The flavors were rich and well-seasoned. That, combined with their drinks, was a perfect match. Don't come here after eating a snack beforehand; make sure you're hungry because you'll be finishing your plate and the person you're with. I would definitely return here without hesitation to try the rest of the menu.
