a salad with shrimp and spinach
    Katrina U.

My mother comes to chopped leaf often and decided to bring me along recently. I had just had a blood test and was famished, there was maybe a couple of tables with people in them eating and a few in line to order before us. As we approached the counter to line up the people making food greeted us, they were friendly and offered to help with the menu if needed. There was a lot of build your own salad options (which for the record I would usually go for) but I needed something a bit more heavy so I got the pesto quesadilla, my mom got the spinach salad and added shrimp, we also ordered 2 tomato soups and 2 chop waters (cucumber was the flavour of the day). I eat paleo and have been trying to get my mom to as well for close to a decade for health reasons, I think if it will ever happen for her it will be because of this place! The cashier must of over heard my mom asking how I was feeling (dizzy) because of the blood test I had taken shortly prior to lunch (he was waiting for a sample of the soup to see how spicy it was) he actually offered to bring everything to our table near the front. That was super sweet of him to do as they started their lunch rush almost immediately after we sat down... The cucumber water was ice cold and had super fresh well cut cucumber in it, the tomato soup was the perfect temperature (not microwaved) the pesto quesadilla was nicely toasted with all fresh ingredients and juicy chicken inside, my moms salad had loads of dressing and quite a bit of shrimp. The soups also came with a small portion of taco chips which were toasted nicely but didn't go great with the soup. Yes the prices look high but they are priced quite standardly for food cost at the moment just like every other salad place you will go to that has good quality so if that's your issue then take your butt down to your local subway and don't complain! Overall we had over and above customer service (which I witnessed all staff there that day give to others as well), great food and a warm and comfy place to eat. Can't wait to see what their seasonal food changes have in store for their menu.

This is my first time trying Haidilao, I was so impressed with the service. Food was fresh, we opted for unlimited meat, we had beef & lamb slices. There is an extra charge of the sauce bar, about $3 plus dollars. That includes dessert & their yummy congee as part of the sauce bar. There's even a show presentation on a popular Chinese mythology figure, The Monkey God. A thoroughly enjoyable meal. Service is prompt & good, our server Elvis was attentive & most helpful. Trying to reorder meat on their iPad was a bit challenging, there's too many options. We had Elvis helping us with the reordering. You are offered ice cream at the end of your meal too. Decor was cute, clean & inviting Fresh food, great service, paid parking in the mall parking.

Wait may be a bit long if you don't have a reservation (we made a reservation but came 30 minutes early and wanted to get in earlier), but they offer free snacks and drinks at the waiting area.

Very oily and doesn't have any tomato taste to it.

For $60, the meal included the chicken soup, spicy squid, raw crab, pork belly, stir fried glass noodles, mini assorted pancakes (veggie, fish and fish patty), and banchan. The chicken soup was good. The chicken was tender and meat easily pulled off the bone. There was rice inside the chicken. One crab was included and it was marinated in a spicy soy sauce. I wish the crab shell was included, but it was not. The crab meat was sweet and fresh. The spicy squid was mixed with radish and green onions. There was not much of the squid itself. The pancakes were alright. There were three different kinds. My child ate two of them and really liked it. The glass noodles were tasty. Banchan selection was good. Overall, I think the price was very good for the amount of food. It was just enough two adults. Service was efficient and friendly.

The side they had was a scoop of rice with sesame seeds on top and some chopped up cabbage salad with Korean regular dressing (ketchup + mayo lol). Just like a bad date, the chicken and pork, couldn't tell difference because it was drier than the Sahara desert and should've called it meat jerky and packaged i honestly wouldn't have felt ripped off. The 1 piece hamburger steak and the rice was the reason 2 stars cause the garlic taste and texture with pieces of garlic etc was delicious but the looks were ummm, look at my photo. Very suspectible. Maybe it'll be better to eat in person but as for now I'm too scared to even try and order the same combo and waste another twenty bucks and probably end up just trying the samgyetang.

This is great as we don't read Korean and it has pictures for everything. We ordered a regular kimbab and the jang teo gook bab, which is a stew like dish with beef, veggie and rice. The gook bab was still a bit spicy for me even though I ordered less spicy but the flavor is absolutely amazing. The booth is meaty and savory. The Kimbab was a yummy as well. It's much lighter than the gook bab. And my favorite out of all, is the soup that they provide for FREE. Hands down the best free soup ever. Food is yummy, portion is generous, service is great. My favourite has to be the tuna kimbap! Always a classic and can never go wrong Cold noodles are also such a treat in the hot weather we're having in Vancouver right now. However, I have to admit that this cold noodle was not as good as I thought it would be . I have also had the tteokbokki and chicken. It sounded so good I had to order it despite ordering it before and not liking it . They give a large portion so it's a good food to share with a party of friends! This is probably personal preference but the tteokbokki was a bit too soft and overcooked for my taste. I also think I prefer to have fried chicken and dip it into the tteokbokki instead so overall this dish was not my favourite.
