Oaxaca bowl with steak and "Green Energy" juice
    Eliza L.

Great place to make group orders for the work place! Usually I call to place the order about 1.5 hours before delivery and so far they have always delivered on time. Conveniently, they have a portable machine so you are able to pay by debit or credit card. The juices are just *okay* i find, they're not terribly tastey. So far I've tried the mighty detox and the green energy. Honestly just *meh* I ordered the Oaxaca bowl (brown rice & kale, avocado, beet slaw, black beans, corn, salsa fresca, crispy wontons, lime wedge, spicy yogurt sauce) and added steak to it. I think next time I'll order extra spicy yogurt sauce, or ask if they have hot sauce! It was REALLY filling! Also you have an option to switch out the rice for Quinoa instead! On a different occasion I decided to try the chicken teriyaki bowl. I'm not sure if they forgot the sauce or if it was just "lightly" added ....? Overall the dish was very dry, and it seemed like the sauce was just straight up missing. Good thing this time, I had ordered a side of spicy yogurt. If I hadn't, the chicken teriyaki bowl would have been a dry, bland, mess.

    Really flavorful bamboo bowl

I'm writing another review, as my thoughts have changed about this Freshii location, I must say it really is hit and miss when you go during lunch time. Yes, I get it, it's lunch time so things are going to be done fast. With any restaurant that should not be an excuse. Regardless I figured out if I come around 11-11:30 they pack the bowls and are less rushed. which equals, better food, better service, happier customer :) They have a new bowl, which is the only thing I eat right now, it's called the bamboo bowl, and it is so flavorful and so well balanced, with the cilantro and green curry. It's really well done. Brown rice on the bottom, with the right amount of green curry sauce on top, saute mushrooms, cabbage, broccoli, carrots on top of that, I added tofu. Reallly really good! A must try.

Surprisingly fantastic. Tried the Mediterranean quinoa bowl with falafel. It was tasty and the portions were large. Definitely a hit!

I tried fried oyster mushrooms they were delicious and went well with all the side garnishing. The black garlic eggplant is something new to try and went with rice and salad. It has fried tofu too which was nicely cooked too. Quantity and portion size is justified for the price. Overall a great Vietnamese restaurant on Kingsway. Will-definitely go back and highly recommend this place!

Unfortunately, the menu doesn't have side dishes, so I ended up ordering the lemongrass vermicelli along with a guava juice instead. The guava juice was a bit of a surprise--not quite the freshly made tropical drink I had imagined. It turned out to be the same bottled guava juice you can easily find at the grocery store, just served in a glass and at restaurant prices. Then my lemongrass vermicelli arrived, and the server warned me to be careful because it was very hot. That definitely caught me off guard! When I think of vermicelli bowls, I picture cool noodles, crisp vegetables, fragrant herbs, and a refreshing meal perfect for a sunny day. This version was served piping hot, making it feel more comforting than refreshing. That said, the dish was still packed with flavour. The fragrant lemongrass aroma filled the bowl, the vegetables added plenty of texture, and the savoury components came together nicely. It just wasn't the light, cooling meal I had originally set my heart on when I walked in, dreaming about mango salad on a warm day.

The menu was great, lots of items you can order pizza, pasta, and Indian! I got a few dishes, and I was happy with them all. I really enjoyed the veggie burger, and the tandoori paneer plate & the cauliflower wings. Everything was flavourful, and felt healthy, I didnt feel gross after eating this food (most places in surrey you feel like there is MSG and feel not good after eating it) but I felt leaving good! The place was busy when I came in and the staff was very nice and attentive Overall it is very clean, and there is absolutely no meat or eggs there. I will certainly be back to try other items on the menu!

A vegetarian bistro and we had just been talking about trying more vegetarian dishes? Why not? As the name suggests, it is small and quaint, buried in a strip mall and one of those "blink and you'll miss it" places. The decor reminded me of a contemporary restaurant where everything is chosen based on their ease of ability to be cleaned (and for the record, the place was clean), with enough seats to sit about 15 people, and I may be rounding up. We were the second table to enter and we were greeted promptly and given the menus. Perhaps I was misled by the restaurant name and did not really know what to make of the meat dishes that I saw: Beef burger? Chicken Nuggets and Fries? Crispy Chicken Burger? I saw nothing to indicate they were the vegetarian version of chicken nuggets or beef burgers, and about 2/3 of the menu was vegetarian or vegan options, so I surmised they must have put a few meat options there to satisfy any meat eaters that wander through the door. I settled on the Spaghetti with Veggie Balls and the boyfriend ordered the Veggie Curry. The pasta was quite filling (included garlic bread) and I discovered the veggie balls and/or sauce was a tad above my spiciness tolerance level, and was even spicier than the Veggie Curry. In hindsight, I wasn't surprised: it is my personal experience that a lot of the times a vegetarian dish will have a lot of spices added in. Chalk it up to not reading the ingredients carefully and thinking things through. In terms of service, I thought it was great. Water glasses were filled regularly, the waitress checked up on us to ask how we were enjoying the food. I would be very interested in coming back and trying other items on the menu!

The lighting is dim and romantic. Definitely not conducive to sexy food photos…read more The waitstaff was speedy and friendly. The acorn has been on my list for YEARS! So to say I was extremely excited is an understatement. We ordered the Sourdough (with House Cultured Butter, Vancouver Island Sea Salt) Shiitake (with Soy Braised Squash, Kelp, Ginger,Lemongrass) Cabbage with Brown Butter and Pomme Dauphinois Harvest which was house made ravioli stuffed with chicken of the woods. For dessert the Plum with Fig Leaf, Miso Honeycomb and Thai Basil Sourdough was good. No arguments there. The shiitake was fine, palatable. The cabbage and potato were very bland and made me question why the Acorn is so hyped. It was so bland i didn't finish it. Keep in mind SERVING SIZES ARE TINY. The ravioli were practically inedible the chicken of the woods was beyond overly salted and the pasta wasn't cooked. We joked that al dente was at least touching water. This pasta has never heard of water. Easily one of if not THE WORST PASTA I've ever had at a restaurant in the past few years. Thank goodness the plum dessert was yummy. Very good. But truly I don't understand why people rave about The Acorn. I love food. Im a vegetarian but it's hard to comprehend why it's so hyped. Maybe there was a new cook? Maybe it was an off night? Crossed off my Vancouver bucket list. It took me a while to write this review because I frankly was in shock the contrast between the actual food vs the lore it has around town. The highlights were a basic sourdough and a well balanced dessert. That just feels so wrong.

This is a vegetarian restaurant and we had the ten course tasting menu ( which sounds like a lot but most dishes are 3-4 bites). Everything is seasonal so when we were there in June the dishes included asparagus, potatoes, leeks, rhubarb, etc. and every dish was amazing. The service was also very attentive, including explaining in detail what each dish was when it was served. Delightful. This is a once in a lifetime experience.
