Just came to Kove Kitchen and fallen in love with this restaurant. First, the restaurant is in front of the water. Second, their customer service is amazing. They were super helpful and knowledgeable with their food and cocktails. The restaurant's decor is beautiful. To start, we ordered the Crab, Spinach & Artichoke dip and it was so delicious. Then, I tried out their carbonara pasta with lobster and bacon. It was so yummy and we ordered the white wine to harmonize the food my friends loved their burger and their buttermilk fried chicken. We had such a great evening at Kove Kitchen. We were able to dine outside on the waterfront on a hot July day with a great view of the water. The service was exceptional. We had various employees we attended to us during our meal but we were never rushed. We ordered red wine sangria to enjoy with our meal. For dinner we shared an appetizer of Kung Pao Sriracha chicken wings. For entrees my husband had citrus ponzu sablefish with bonita infused rissoto and I had mushroom pierogies My husband did not like the taste of the risotto with his sablefish, it was more than likely the bonita infusion that he did not like. The sablefish was cooked perfectly and the skin was nice a crisp. The sablefish was nice and moist and he also enjoyed the broccoli. It was not overcooked but was still crisp and had plenty of flavour. I enjoyed my pierogis. It was a good size serving consisting of 8 pierogies with fried onions and sour cream. I was disappointed that there weren't more mushroom in the pierogis though. The filling was mostly potato with very minimal amounts of mushroom. It a nice relaxing and enjoyable evening. The food was good, but the service was exceptional, the ambiance was wonderful and the prices fair. We would go back. read more

It's been a while - 2019 to be precise. Good to be back? Absolutely! Kove Kitchen is situated on the waterfront in the beautiful & popular tourist mecca - Steveston Village. To be honest I couldn't recall how the food tasted here last time, so I was eager with anticipation of good things to come - I hoped! Well let me just say - dinner was spot on banging! Very tasty & delicious indeed. What to order - the Seafood Tagliatelle, Spicy Tuna Tataki Salad, & the Crab & Lobster Ravioli with Prawns. Skip the calamari (it was just ok) & the Gentleman burger. For burgers go with the Kove, Bacon or Cajun Chicken options. No WiFi here, Kove wants you to talk amongst yourselves. I wish Kove would play some music in the background via overhead speakers - it doesn't have to be loud, just subtle & would enhance the dining experience - in my humble opinion. We just had their Thanksgiving turkey dinner (we had it at lunch time) ...Simply WOW!!! Real roast turkey chunks and pieces, with all the fixings... perhaps the best restaurant turkey dinner plate I have ever had. The only downside... I have to wait until Christmas time for a repeat opportunity. And, of course, you have the Kove view of the river as a bonus! read more

Good service with patio facing the river in Steveston. A group of 14 of us had lunch here on a Monday. It's a hit and miss day. Burned fish and chips, we return the burned onion rings and the staff apologized and replaced with a fresh one... good service thumbs up! It was a blast to visit this lovely restaurant with excellent culinary in Steveston. Service was remarkable and offered by Lisa, who guided us to select the right dishes from the menu in order to avoid any exaggeration from our side. Portions are very generous, I repeat, very generous and prices affordable. We had the most delicious butter chicken poutine, bowl of borscht, chowder bowl, a gluten free brownie a la mode and two delicious bottles of white wine Wayne Gretzky..... highly recommended!!! Located in the heart of Steveston village! This cute restaurant was a perfect lunch spot on a sunny Spring day. Service was great, we had a few minutes to wait for a table and it was 1pm on a Sunday so not bad. They have a great outdoor seating area too. Menu was a good variety. We had the Kove seafood chowder which was so yummy. Chunks of seafood and a nice creamy base. This was delicious. Also had the spicy tuna tataki salad. The dressing on this salad was perfect, spicy sesame. Not too spicy at all but had great flavour and the tuna was fresh. I ordered the cajun chicken burger. The chicken was not dry as they can sometimes be, spiced well and the bun was fresh. The fries were the perfect amount of crisp and salt, totally hit the spot. My only criticism is its on the pricier side but I can understand as rent I'm sure is very high being right in the village. read more

A disappointing experience at a restaurant that used to be much better. We decided to share a couple of items. The BBQ wings were quite good, with a very tasty sauce, but the lack of a blue cheese dip was an oversight, given how common this option is just about everywhere that serves wings. The Gentleman's burger (blue cheese, ironically) was alright, but nothing spectacular, and my wife found it overly salty. The fries were over cooked and tough. My beer was under poured and when I pointed it out, our server had to calculate the difference between 16oz and 330ml, then brought the additional beer in a tiny glass, rather than taking it back and giving me a proper 16oz pour. When it came time to get the bill, we waited quite a long time, before going up to the front desk to pay. Overall, the service was inattentive and reminded me of restaurants that haven't been open for long, with inexperienced staff. We've been to Kove Kitchen before and had a much better overall experience, so this was unexpected and rather disappointing, especially for a restaurant with such an amazing location. read more

A nice restaurant with a great location. I really recommend sitting on the patio if you can, the view of the water is gorgeous! Kove Bolognese ($22) a nice portion with a super yummy sauce! Loved the flavour. Calamari ($14) super crunchy and well cooked. Loved the chipotle aioli sauce that came with it. Spinach, Crab & Artichoke Dip ($16) very rich and creamy. It's too bad this place is sort of out of the way so you don't see it when you walk past. I guess they've been here for years and we just never knew. Good location, ok menu. The issues we had were.. on the menu it said brioche or pretzel bun.. we were not given the option, everything came out on the pretzel bun. Maybe our bad we should have said but usually if it's a choice you get asked. Next, the half fries half salad.. I asked for half and half, both are a $0 upgrade.. so.. why was it $4 for the fries as an add on? I would have gotten yam fries or onion rings had I known this! Then we got one small thing of ketchup and while initially service was great, once they started to pick up it took a while but the girl we did ask for ketchup was back in a hot minute with it. The burger itself... if you're going to put spicy on anything.. you should say that. I don't love chipotle mayo. The burger said kove sauce, fine.. next thing I know there's this spicy mayo on this overcooked burger that's hard and black on all of the edges. The fries were the saving grace. The salad should never have been served with no dressing, we had a bit of a running joke every time we'd eat some of it because you'd get the entire leaf, no one chopped anything up at all(which is a pet peeve of mine- it's salad, you shouldn't need a knife for this) read more

BEAUTIFUL PATIO ALERT crazy how we have missed this years before! Right in the heart of Steveston is Kove Kitchen! They have a beautiful patio with such classic and delicious menu items! Including speciality items created by their Ukrainian chef! * 2X bacon cheese burger ($20.29) ~ look at this masterpiece. It's a pretzel brioche bun and it doesn't taste like pretzel so you don't need to worry about the super saltiness from most pretzel buns. It was super delicious the meat was juicy, bacon was crispy and it was amazing! The bun tasted so good because it had a Smokey taste to it. Fries were good too just wish it was more crispy. * Mushroom perogies ($15.95) ~ this is created from their own Ukrainian chef fresh daily, the mushroom perogies were filled with a generous mushroom filling, it tasted fantastic! The sour cream is a must with this dish! * Red sangria pitcher ($21.95) ~ can't go wrong with a nice refreshing pitcher of sangria. Lots of fresh fruits were refreshing and crisp! It was nice and sweet too a good mixture of wine and fruits. * 9/10 ~ oh this was delicious I can definitely see myself coming back here to enjoy their patio this summer! Food was great! We enjoyed dinner here on a Tuesday evening. The servers were nice, and the view of the water was a plus. My husband ordered the fried chicken, and I had the Ukrainian cabbage rolls. I was not impressed. Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020 I have never been to the Kove before and my girlfriends and I decided to meet there and try out their venue. I was the first to arrive and when I got there both servers automatically assumed that I was meeting a group of girls that had already been sat inside. They didn't give me the opportunity to let them know my request for a table of 3. The server then proceeded to ask whether I would like the table by the entrance or the one on the side. I requested the one on the side and she had said yes without walking me over to the table. So I just sat down. When she came to me with the menus she then told me I couldn't sit there. I had to ask why and she told me that it was a table for 5. Looking around the other tables of 4 were only filled with 2 people... I was very taken back so we decided that we will no longer be eating there. read more

Came here on a date after wandering the Steveston waterfront and very happy we did! Highly recommend the seafood tagliatelle, currywurst, and vegan rice bowl (we're not vegan, and it was the highlight!) but what really stole the show was the service - from front end to table side. Went on Boxing Day as this was one of the few places open in Steveston that evening. Was easy to get in. Our group of 3 got seated at a table right away. We ordered fairly quickly, however, we waited quite a while (definitely over 35 mins) for our food to come out. Thankfully the dinner was meant as a catchup session among friends so we just used the time to chat, but our stomaches were growling. When you have to debate whether you should ask the server if the food is coming out soon or not, then you know it's been a long wait. We made note of a group of about 8 in the corner of the restaurant, but the restaurant itself was in no way very busy. Our waiter never came close enough to our table during our wait for the food, so we never did get an opportunity to ask what was taking the food so long. When we finally got our orders, I received my seafood chowder and yam fries. Good portion sizes. Taste-wise, the seafood chowder was okay, and the yam fries were fine. My boyfriend liked his pasta dish. However, my friend got a different pasta dish which was good, but too spicy. He had asked the server prior to ordering whether it was very spicy, and the server said that they could remove something and it wouldn't be spicy. However, the dish was spicy to my friend even with the adjustment! I felt bad watching him guzzle water with each bite. I don't think I would return due to the wait-time/food preference. read more

My wife and I went out here last week and sat on the Patio. The food is excellent but I gave only 3 stars because the servers were not wearing masks. Given the resurgence of cases I found this disappointing. The end point will be that bars and restaurants will be closed again. My wife and I won't be back until management of the Kove takes this seriously. read more

Mothers Day dinner was terrific as usual, was a lovely evening, Steveston was fairly people packed, parking was crazy but eventually found a spot and eating @thekovekitchen was the best part of the night. We came for lunch during Canada day, obviously it is pretty busy. Greeted by the manager to be seated and told it would be 20-30min wait. We actually got seated within about 10-15 min and after a couple min a waitress brought us water. We perused the menu and decided what we wanted... Wait staff bustling around after a couple min a waitress stopped and said she'd be right with us as she zoomed off behind our table(our table was at the entrance of the kitchen) she did come back after a couple of mins as it is again like I said very busy so props to the waitress for acknowledging us. We ordered and got our food probably about 15-20m after we ordered. It was delicious. We ordered the kove chowder and I ordered the mushroom burger, my fiance ordered the chicken Cajun burger. All the food was good! My fiance is a bit picky when it comes to the term "Cajun" and noted that the flavor she would say was 50% Cajun lol but it was good none the less. Came in on a weekday with the family for a mid-afternoon snack and was very happy we came across this little gem of a place by the water. It's a bit off the main cluster of restaurants but it makes for a nicer getaway from the hustle and bustle of the main boardwalk. The sofa patio seating gave us plenty of space for us as we had a stroller and a hyper toddler in tow. My husband and I shared the butter chicken poutine and the calamari. Both were decent sized portions, especially the poutine. Both had good flavours, and I enjoyed the soft texture of the squid (not too chewy). The butter chicken sauce on the poutine was also great and went well with the cheese curds. We definitely would return! read more

Hidden gem in Steveston! Booked a table here for Father's Day and had an option of either patio or indoor and we picked indoor since it was super windy. Great patio space that overlooks the patio and it's more hidden than most of the other waterfront restaurants. Most of the food was surprisingly good - ordered the crab cake egg Benny (not great but ok), kove egg Benny (ok), butter chicken poutine (very good), bacon cheeseburger (extremely good). Overall the ambiance was quite lovely and will be returning! read more

I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and while I really appreciated the large portion size the flavouring for the dish could definitely be improved. Had a really rough experience here last week. A friend and I were disappointed that there wasn't more seafood on the menu (considering the location in Steveston) but got over it and she ordered crab cakes while I ordered a chicken burger. While we waited for our food the servers bizarrely unpacked and collapsed cardboard boxes right next to our table? The food came and my friend said the crab cakes were bland and underwhelming (but not inedible). I ordered my chicken burger with no sauce and it was loaded with sauce when it came. I waited for the server to check on us, no dice. Finally we flagged someone down and they were super gracious about it and took the burger back to replace it. When the burger came back out it was EXACTLY the same burger. The kitchen just scraped the sauce off and literally rinsed it with water - there was still sauce caked in between the layers of the onion - it was actually disgusting. I tore off a tiny piece of the chicken to see if I was missing anything - it was so, so dry and bland (the menu calls it a spicy chicken burger - the meat itself is unseasoned - I think the spice was likely all in the mayo). I wouldn't eat the burger but picked at the crazily over salted yam fries as I was so hungry at that point. Servers were apologetic and took my meal off the bill - but all in all no one bothered to make it up to us or talk to us about what went wrong. This was during their lunch service on a weekday - they were not busy, they just didn't care. Had both a better chicken burger and better service from a Wendy's - good grief. read more
