Chicken tenders - perfect ratio of chicken to breading. Perfectly cooked. Oct 2024

This was our first time here and we were pleasantly surprised with the amazing service and good food The menu seemed to have a little bit of every type of food so I think anyone could find something they like here I have quite a few dietary restrictions that are not a choice for me and the waitress went out of her way to make sure they could accommodate them and she was more than happy to do so and to double check when I wasn't confident that the meal looks like it had the accommodations. And it in fact did. The nice thing is that I ordered the spaghetti and they actually had regular gluten-free spaghetti noodles. Pretty much every place that has a gluten-free pasta option only serves Penne. So that was actually a huge treat for me I also wasn't able to eat the beef in the marinara due to an allergy and they were also able to accommodate that So huge props to them for accommodating my various things and doing it correctly the first time and being happy to do it Everything there was super clean and when servers weren't actively helping customers, they were finding something to do or clean that seem to be valuable like washing windows or something like that which is very impressive because that's not usually the case. That's probably why the place looks so spic and span The server was always there when we needed her and all the staff seemed very happy to help and very competent The food was good. My husband ordered the Mediterranean wrap and when he added the balsamic vinaigrette it went from good to amazing. My son ordered the hamburger and the veggies on it we're very fresh I would definitely recommend checking it out

I like the space. Why? It's very spacious, big booths and an open floor plan. Reminds me of American diners, but that still didn't prevent the fun experience of kids running up and down by our booth the entire time. So, the food.... The Mushroom/Swiss burger I asked to be cooked med-rare which I got and it was tasty. I think if they had not served it open it would've been better...cuz you know...you want the fake swiss cheese to melt on top of the sauteed mushrooms.....not sure if the side of mushrooms is just as appealing (see pic) The Jambalaya. Way too much sauce. Technically obliterated all the other lovely ingredients that go into a Jambalaya. So, it just tasted like spicy tomato sauce rather than the prawns, chorizo and green peppers giving it the recognizable unique flavour of a proper Jambalaya. The hot wings. They are battered-deep fried hot wings. Not pan fried. Not mentioned on the menu. If I wanted deep fried chicken....I'd go to KFC. Enough said. The Service was friendly, attentive and genuine.

    Trucker's

Busy Sunday brunch day. Sunday funday, what do ya expect? After some morning exercise, we thought we would give this local joint a shot. I had the Trucker's Breakfast. Large portions and fair pricing. TBH, nothing I could not make myself but always good to get a homey meal made by someone else. Very similar to Denny's. Fair deal, decent pricing, and good service make this place a continuous success.

My friend who lives in Coquitlam told me about The Coquitlam Grill. On Friday, they have a full rack of ribs special with spaghetti, garlic bread and Caesar salad for $16.99. You have the option to upgrade your spaghetti to lasagna but we chose not to. The ribs were fall of the bone ribs. I wish they were a bit more saucy. The ribs were delicious. They only have one flavor for the ribs and its the standard bbq flavor. The Caesar salad was my favorite. It was a good size and they were very generous with the parmesan cheese. The garlic bread was the Texan style. It was more like garlic thick bread. It was not bad. I wished it was more garlic flavored. The spaghetti was my least favorite. The sauce was cooked with beans / had the bean flavor to it. This place seems to be locals favorite. They were very busy on the night I arrived. It was a full house. But I guess with Covid, not all tables/ booth seats were used. Portion size was huge. We left very full. It was definitely a great deal. Also there is free parking outside.

Two eggs with bacon, brown toast, fries and coffee

The best part about the experience at this place was the hostess and the prompt service.. Ordered two eggs with bacon, brown toast and coffee... The eggs were done perfectly, the bacon was light and crisp and the fries were nice and hot. Coffee was good as well. Everything tasted good and was served promptly with hardly any wait.. The hostess was super kind, polite and very sweet... Definitely coming back here again to try some more eats...

Alfredo Mushroom Penne with garlic bread.

After attempting the Coquitlam Crunch and conquering it to completion, we were starving!!!!! My friend treated us to a lovely lunch. They had the Alfredo Mushroom Chicken Penne, made with real cream, parmesan cheese, and garlic covering penne noodles and topped with grilled chicken breast and angel hair parmesan. I had the Mac and Cheese topped with melted cheese. Both meals were served with caesar salad and garlic bread. The serving was large, we finished our meal it was perfect. The restaurant is clean and airy with large windows. It was quite busy. Our server was respectful, the food served in good time. The restaurant and bathroom are both clean. I would definitely go back. Thank you for the awesome experience!!!!!

If you are lucky enough to get Susan as your server you will be treated very well! She is very kind, thoughtful and sweet. She made our day. Came in for lunch and mentioned it was my sons birthday and she brought him a chocolate brownie dessert and even sang happy birthday to him. The food is great, prices are fair but the service today thanks to Susan was amazing. This restaurant is lucky to have her!

Greek Omelette with cubed hash browns & sourdough. + a traditional breakfast pancakes, sausage, sourdough bread (instead of eggs
    TJ R.

Saturday morning breakfast to celebrate a birthday. I had the Greek Omelette with sourdough bread and the birthday girl had the traditional breakfast and subbed the eggs for sourdough bread. Service is quick & friendly. Some tables blocked off for COVID. Food was nice. Good value. Under $30 for both meals Hash browns nice. Pancakes were spot-on, as were the sausages Greek Omelette had gets and spinach which were generously portioned. Good meal Seems like a popular spot Nothing fancy

This seemed to be a favorite place for people living in Coquitlam, it is like their "go-to" place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is like a family oriented diner, so you do see many families here with little kids. The place is spacious with 2 sections and a fairly big waiting area to sit. Service is usually good and friendly. Make payment at the cashier near the front at the end of the meal, like at IHOP. It has all day breakfast which is awesome for those who like eggs at night. There are probably specials every night though I only know of the one on Friday night -- ribs with pasta, caesar salad and garlic toast! The ribs are nice, though not always fall off the bone tender. You can upgrade the spaghetti to the lasagna (I like both versions) too. The portion is quite big and you can pack the leftover home. I struggle to finish mine, then I saw a senior pack her leftover. So I will do that in future and have it for lunch the next day. I also tried the Yankee pot roast which was good. The mashed potato was a bit gummy so that could be better. The chicken wings were also not bad. There is liver and onion on the menu. I am always intrigued by it though I generally dislike liver. It is just such a retro dish which grandma will eat. I am sure one day I will bite the bullet and just order that to try. The breakfast dishes look good too, so those will be other things for me to order in future. Parking is available out front and in the parking lot next to it. It can get hot inside when it is a sunny day though, wish they have the AC on at full blast.

Worst European breakfast ever you can see the dryness and smell from here.

It's kind of a trendy cafe, I've seen photos of the other locations but those ones look a lot fancier. I came here because I saw on insta they said this location was the location that had the Ube Matcha Latte but when I went they didn't even have it, which was disappointing since it was being advertised on Instagram. It was also kind of difficult to order and ask questions with the initial barista I was speaking with because of the language barrier so she didn't seem to understand what I was asking but fortunately another girl stepped in to help her out. Since I couldn't get the Ube Matcha drink I got the Hojicha Matcha Iced Latte which was okay conpared to other Matcha drinks I have tried, it seemed like there was a lot more ice than matcha and the large cup isn't very large plus the paper straws were just a no for me. They could have just used other compostable straws rather than paper ones so I give the paper straws a thumbs down. The service was very friendly though despite the language barrier. I didn't see much gluten free options here. I think at a time they carried gluten free donuts from another company but I didn't see them there this time. I'd give this place another shot though once they do have the Ube Matcha Latte drink available.

To begin, we were greeted by an extremely friendly and cheerful server who genuinely seemed happy to serve us. He took our food order first as we weren't decided on drinks yet and said he would return shortly after he put our food order in. My friend ordered the 3 course menu, while I ordered the 5 course menu. He did note that since they were still new at serving the taste of tri-cities menu he wanted to get our order in right away as it tended to take longer than some of the other menu items. A few minutes later he returned for our drink order, and I requested a grape-ade drink (white grape flavoured lemonade?). Another few minute later, he returned with our drinks. Mine was absolutely delicious and reminded me of a particular Japanese white grape flavour that I love. After getting through a third of our drinks, our server returned very apologetic. He advised that our courses were taking longer than expected to be served and therefore we would be able to order another drink of choice on the house. As it hadn't even been that long, we were surprised but extremely grateful for the upfront honesty and quick action on the part of the staff. After another 10 minutes or so, our first course was set on our table. My first course was a soup of the day, which turned out to be a delicious cheddar and broccoli soup. It had some carrot slivers as well, and was a perfectly well balanced soup. My next course, the seared scallops, were brought out quite quickly and were also quite delicious. Admittedly, this was my first time trying scallops so I can't truly review them one way or another, given I didn't know what to expect from them. My third course was the beef arugula salad and although it didn't smell as appetizing given the mixture of plates I had prior, it was incredibly delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly and was just as tender and juicy as I had hoped. My fourth course, the red wine braised short rib served with fondant potatoes and roasted seasonal vegetables, was positively to die for. I, admittedly, was stuffed at this point and already knew I'd have leftovers, but I wanted to finish every bite if I was able as it truly was perfection. Finally, for my fifth course, I was given the cheesecake which was rich, creamy and delicious. It was just the right size of slice and finished off the meal wonderfully. I could not recommend this place more given the service, friendliness, ambiance, and quality of the dishes. This restaurant is incredibly welcoming, with something for everyone from morning to night. It's well worth a visit!

Obviously, this means the menu carries lots of Veg/an options which is amazing in this quick serve format. They rely on a lot of rice and quinoa, so this will also appeal to those aiming for Gluten Free or Reduced eats. With all this going for it, Freshii stumbles into a very traditional Veg/an trope, that this style of food is bland. No matter what you get, the sauces are afterthoughts and this preparation method doesn't deliver enough of the goods. They need to cook the sauces into the meals or marinate the products previous to order to create depth, delicious delicious flavour depth. The bowls, wraps or basically whatever else also needs more robust salting and unfortunately when I get home I always find myself dousing the food in hot sauce...to be fair I haven't tried the soups. Oh and the rice noodles are tasteless, wallpaper pedestrian. I know that sounds harsh, but maybe someone important will read this and treat the menu to a romp around the flavour dance floor. Don't get me wrong, I'd 100% rather eat here then any burger joint or sub shop. In saying this though, I could easily make any of this food at home, cheaper and in greater quantity.

Penne Alfredo was just a simple dish of penne with white creamy sauce and Parmesan cheese, but OMG! It was extraordinarily delicious! Chef Henry could cook this simple dish so well that I could 100% guarantee it is hard to find such a good simple dish in Greater Vancouver. Linguine Pescatora was full of seafood (shrimps, mussels, clams, scallops, and calamari) in a light spicy tomato sauce. The seafood was fresh (not frozen ones) and the texture of linguine was firm and chewy. Everything was irresistible. We would love to visit this restaurant and try other dishes in the near future.
