10 stars for Sana who was doing her very best to keep everybody happy on a busy Friday evening rush, which petered out around 7 pm. She did a great job getting our appetizer order (nachos) in and it was ready a minute after putting our entree orders in. She gave us the perfect solution for our kids splitting a special and they both enjoyed their food. Lychee lemonade was great! It was normal lemonade but with lychee popping boba and that was a clever combo. I'd probably get there way earlier next time to avoid the rush but it was a good place to satisfy many different cravings from multiple people. This ribs and spaghetti special was very reasonably priced at $19.99. I'm giving 4 stars (4.5 if I could) because operations could have run a bit smoother for how long we waited for Sana while she was running around. I can't tell whether it's the kitchen or what, but a table nearby got their chicken wings appetizer at the same time as their meals. Went for Taste of Tricities and got a 3 course meal for $29.99. this place is definitely a quantity over quality vibe, and a very family friendly/big party ish atmosphere. everything was alright, not particularly great but not terrible. the taco beef mac and cheese was massive and super dense so I only finished half. it was also hella greasy and salty so I just felt super heavy and tired after. the cheesecake was alright, I thought there was too much strawberry sauce so it was too sweet. Been here a handful of times - large parking space shared with other businesses - so it can get crowded on weekends and peak periods. I'm not sure how transit friendly they are, never really looked for a bus stop around here. Large seating space - and generally pretty clean - they have large windows - so plenty of natural light. Service was pretty quick and waitress was friendly - Got the Hulk burger, as it sounded pretty fun - burger was full of flavor - I never know how people eat such big burgers with their hands, so I ended up cutting it up with a fork and knife haha. We were frustrated and a little moody, but the food sounded good so we changed plans and went a little closer to our Air BnB. There was a bit of a wait, but it wasn't too bad. Almost immediately, our moods changed. The manager asked if we were comfortable multiple times after sitting us at a table he was worried we wouldn't be comfortable in, super nice about it. This was our first time here and we were pleasantly surprised with the amazing service and good food The menu seemed to have a little bit of every type of food so I think anyone could find something they like here I have quite a few dietary restrictions that are not a choice for me and the waitress went out of her way to make sure they could accommodate them and she was more than happy to do so and to double check when I wasn't confident that the meal looks like it had the accommodations. And it in fact did. The nice thing is that I ordered the spaghetti and they actually had regular gluten-free spaghetti noodles. Pretty much every place that has a gluten-free pasta option only serves Penne. So that was actually a huge treat for me I also wasn't able to eat the beef in the marinara due to an allergy and they were also able to accommodate that So huge props to them for accommodating my various things and doing it correctly the first time and being happy to do it Everything there was super clean and when servers weren't actively helping customers, they were finding something to do or clean that seem to be valuable like washing windows or something like that which is very impressive because that's not usually the case. That's probably why the place looks so spic and span The server was always there when we needed her and all the staff seemed very happy to help and very competent The food was good. My husband ordered the Mediterranean wrap and when he added the balsamic vinaigrette it went from good to amazing. I like the space. Why? It's very spacious, big booths and an open floor plan. Reminds me of American diners, but that still didn't prevent the fun experience of kids running up and down by our booth the entire time. So, the food.... The Mushroom/Swiss burger I asked to be cooked med-rare which I got and it was tasty. I think if they had not served it open it would've been better...cuz you know...you want the fake swiss cheese to melt on top of the sauteed mushrooms.....not sure if the side of mushrooms is just as appealing (see pic) The Jambalaya. Way too much sauce. Technically obliterated all the other lovely ingredients that go into a Jambalaya. So, it just tasted like spicy tomato sauce rather than the prawns, chorizo and green peppers giving it the recognizable unique flavour of a proper Jambalaya. The hot wings. They are battered-deep fried hot wings. Not pan fried. Not mentioned on the menu. If I wanted deep fried chicken....I'd go to KFC. Enough said. I love coming here. I am from Vancouver and sometimes I crave a family friendly, non pretentious atmosphere with good food. I came for my birthday and loved my burger. Our second visit was for Thanksgiving turkey dinner and it tasted home cooked and no dishes! A few weeks ago we had brunch and we all enjoyed our dishes. Mexican omelet was a star. My friend who lives in Coquitlam told me about The Coquitlam Grill. On Friday, they have a full rack of ribs special with spaghetti, garlic bread and Caesar salad for $16.99. You have the option to upgrade your spaghetti to lasagna but we chose not to. The ribs were fall of the bone ribs. I wish they were a bit more saucy. The ribs were delicious. They only have one flavor for the ribs and its the standard bbq flavor. The Caesar salad was my favorite. It was a good size and they were very generous with the parmesan cheese. The garlic bread was the Texan style. It was more like garlic thick bread. It was not bad. I wished it was more garlic flavored. The spaghetti was my least favorite. The sauce was cooked with beans / had the bean flavor to it. This place seems to be locals favorite. They were very busy on the night I arrived. It was a full house. I have been at this restaurant 2 times. We sat in different areas and wound up with the same waitress. She is worth the 20 to 25% tip. She extremely knowledgeable of the food being served. This is a family restaurant and big. No matter. It seems like there is a cook for every table as the food arrived in no time. The portions are large and came hot. They serve breakfast all day. I had the half ribs and lasagna. The meat just fell off the bone. The lasagna was hot which cooled down a bit while you ate the ribs. The seafood jumbalya was filled with lots of seafood. My parents wanted to go for breakfast so we came to the Coquitlam Grill, where apparently they're regulars. I had the salmon eggs benedict. I asked for the hollandaise on the side. I was literally given a soup cup full of the stuff. I used about 2 tablespoons. The eggs benny was superb, I thought it was interesting that some of the salmon tasted sweet. Hashbrowns were also great. Amazing service with constant coffee refills. I thought the prices were reasonable. The menu is huge. This seemed to be a favorite place for people living in Coquitlam, it is like their "go-to" place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is like a family oriented diner, so you do see many families here with little kids. The place is spacious with 2 sections and a fairly big waiting area to sit. Service is usually good and friendly. Make payment at the cashier near the front at the end of the meal, like at IHOP. It has all day breakfast which is awesome for those who like eggs at night. There are probably specials every night though I only know of the one on Friday night -- ribs with pasta, caesar salad and garlic toast! The ribs are nice, though not always fall off the bone tender. You can upgrade the spaghetti to the lasagna (I like both versions) too. The portion is quite big and you can pack the leftover home. I struggle to finish mine, then I saw a senior pack her leftover. So I will do that in future and have it for lunch the next day. I also tried the Yankee pot roast which was good. The mashed potato was a bit gummy so that could be better. The chicken wings were also not bad. There is liver and onion on the menu. I am always intrigued by it though I generally dislike liver. It is just such a retro dish which grandma will eat. I am sure one day I will bite the bullet and just order that to try. The breakfast dishes look good too, so those will be other things for me to order in future. The booth that we were seated in smelled really bad. It was dirty and sticky. I ordered the European breakfast. The scrambled eggs was inedible. It smelled of dirty old cooking oil. The perogies were so dry and overcooked. The Bavarian sausage and the rye marble bread were the only editable items and they were just okay, nothing special. My favourite brunch item is the French breakfast, which comes with 2 thick slices of french toast, eggs, potatoes and your choice of bacon or sausage. I also got the Ultimate omelette as well and it was so so good! The servers here are always so friendly and service is pretty good. It can get very busy during peak hours though. There was an issue with their pos machine, the waitress noted I did not leave a tip and literally threw the receipt on the table, second time it went through and again she threw it on the table. Different story with my friend who left a tip, she was so nice. Seriously I'm not required to tip, either you can have your employer pay you more or find another job. I'm not a big waffle fan but it was delicious. Greek egg benny: it was decent, I liked the waffle and chicken better. The poached eggs was more on the overly cooked side but still good to eat. Their menu is quite diverse and I think suited to pretty much anyone. I go there most often for brunch, but have also had lunch & dinner there. The portions are great - and the food is well-cooked. This is not a high-end restaurant, so don't expect fancy food, but rather, some good comfort food, with a lot of healthy options tossed in. My favourite "go to" meal is the Belgian Breakfast - a nice golden waffle served with a side of sausage or bacon and two eggs. They also have a choice of cubed or shredded hasbrowns if they come with your meal, which for me, is a nice option. I loved the cubed potatoes with my eggs benny and shredded hashbrowns with bacon & eggs. Ask for Frank's Hot Sauce, too! yum.
