Great food at a reasonable price! They were very accommodating. They let me order from the Happy Hours menu on a Sunday, and they made me a special side salad. Their clams were fresh and their mussels soft and perfect to taste. Thank you, chef.

A quaint little joint in a popular neighborhood along the pier serving up straightforward yet tasty fares. You can see the passion in the chef's cooking and we love the coziness of this place. The burgers were nicely done while the fried brussel sprouts offered up a hearty yet fresh contrast. Worth a stop by if you are in the neighborhood.

I wish they had more truffle beef brisket so I could try the benny but instead I had the Italian which is just bacon. I definitely would come back especially now that they have the $10 benny special before 10 am. They also have daily specials! Love the location in the heart of Steveston Village. The service was great! Bonus surprise, they sell some Trader Joe products there so I can pick up some items there. Cannot wait to try the chili onion oil!

The Chef's Playground Eatery is my friend's new favourite place for brunch so I had to give it a try. It's a cute little restaurant with an open concept kitchen. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Upon arrival we were informed of the 45 mins wait so we put our name down and then explored the Stevenson Market. We returned 45 mins later and our table was ready. We had the Hearty Breakfast (huge portion and the sausages were excellent), Bacon Cheddar Burger (lean, moist and not greasy) and Slow Roasted Pork Belly Benny (pork belly just melted in my mouth). All 3 were very good and good portion size. The Seoul Ceaser was garnished with their home made kimchi which was very delicious and the coffee came hot and in a large mug. Worth the wait so just put your name down and wonder around town. Will come back to try their other dishes. Parking can be tough in Steveston's core on the weekend but try to park 3-4 blocks away and it will be much easier. Another bonus, after a big meal walk it off by visiting the Steveston Wharf or Garry Point Park which is close to the restaurant.

Have always wanted to try this place but the wait time was always long. We finally tried it during the cherry blossom festival. We thought it would be busy that Sunday but guess the rain/hail discouraged people from going. I got the beer braised beef benny, my wife got the pork belly benny. Her pork belly was so tender and soft that it almost melted in the mouth. My beef was tender too and you get a hint of the beer but not too much. The service was quick and our server was great. She filled up our coffee, made sure we had everything and gave good recommendations for food. If you come, come early to out your name down.. Also your whole group needs to be there before they will seat you.

We went for brunch on a weekend and it was surprisingly empty. The space is not big but well decorated. The Braised Short Rib Benny was pretty good and came with fried potatoes and a small salad. There was a good amount of tender short rib. The Chicken and Waffles came with sweet waffles, almost like a liege waffle? The chicken was quite crispy but could've been seasoned more. All the eggs were perfectly poached! This is a good brunch spot, especially if you don't want to line up. You can also get lunch items like burgers and fries too.

Truffle mushroom cheesy burger ($18)

After a long bike ride to Steveston, we dropped by Chef's Playground Eatery for a late brunch/lunch. Restaurant itself was quite small but not overly busy even on the weekend. We came a bit too early as we wanted to try their lunch menu, but they were able to accommodate us, which was great! I ordered the truffle mushroom burger ($18) with a side of regular fries. I would like to preface this by saying that I usually do not like burgers, but this one was actually super delicious. The beef patty was large in size and super juicy. I loved the slight truffle flavour which was enhanced by the mushrooms as well, but the best part was definitely the melted cheese! I'm one of those people who hate the texture of cheese when it's not melted properly, but this was done wonderfully. It also came with a large portion of fries which was crispy and not salty (which I prefer). A friend ordered their fried chicken, which now seems to be off the menu. Overall, it tasted pretty standard and dipping sauce was good. Their drink menu also looked really good but we were too full to try any of them. I would definitely revisit to try other burgers (and hopefully drinks!). Perfect restaurant for a day out in Steveston for sure, would recommend!

Saw the YouTuber who tried this out and checked it out . For $10 it's ok but not great, the eggs Benny were quite dry and the portion is small, but for $10 it's here to dine in anymore that's not fast food Perhaps the full price once has more food

This restaurant is pretty small but homey with one chef. I came here years ago and appreciated their smaller but seasonal menu. I still miss their brussel sprouts ... we decided to try their brunch menu because of the positive reviews and honestly it was a bit underwhelming. The pesto sauce had more muted flavour which worked well with the salty prosciutto. I wasn't expecting crispy prosciutto so construction of the benny made it difficult to eat - thick focaccia bread with crispy prosciutto. I love hashbrown and liked that theirs was slightly garlicky. This is a cute local restaurant that is worth trying. There are some unique spins on the menu, but it was an average brunch experience.

I stopped by here on Canada Day. Small dining area so limited seating . They can only do max if party of four . It's mostly a brunch/ burger lunch kind of place with limited menu options. . Service was nice and decor is new . We tried the beef brisket poutine which was very yummy and the watermelon salads which surprisingly really works as a dish . Ice tea a bit too sweet for my liking . Prices are reasonable $20 burger . They have a couple early bird breakfast plates for $15 too . I really like their utensils .. it's unique . Always good to have some hook to stand out again the crowd

Still 3 stars. The only thing which stuck out in my mind was the really nice cold pressed watermelon juice. I realize that cold pressed juice is not really common or readily found in metro Vancouver. Now I remember why I have not been back often. The menu always looked very appetizing but I think the execution needs some refinement. I happened to be around when they are open so I decided to try the lunch special (great deals they are running now with the daily $10 lunch special). Thursday special was the seafood chowder with grilled cheese. The grilled cheese sandwich was nicely grilled though it was quite sad with a super thin slice of cheese. The chowder was quite watery so the compostable wooden spoon was hardly of any use. You could only use it to scoop up the pieces of seafood. I had to drink the chowder like I was drinking miso soup, straight from the container. There was also lots of bacon but they were not cooked to a crisp so it was quite icky to me to eat the bacon with the visible fats. The seafood chowder and grilled cheese sandwich did not impress me much. Maybe the other dishes would be much better.

Chef's Playground is a great neighborhood brunch house which serves excellent egg benny. I tried their signature braised rib egg benny and it was just delicious. The eggs are free range and poached to perfection. I asked for medium and it was the most perfect medium poached egg I've had in a long time. The fried hash brown was also delicious. Service was friendly and good. Overall it was a pleasant experience. I think I'll try their lunch menu next time.

While a restaurant might be a chef's playground for dynamic and innovative eats, sometimes it's best to stick to more of the basics. Unfortunately, on my first visit to Chef's, I was not impressed and left expecting more. As the number of stars I've given indicate - Chef's Playground isn't terrible, but it absolutely could've been better. One cold, weekday morning, my brother and I decided to go out into nearby Steveston to try our luck with a new brunch spot. Having skimmed over the Chef's Playground Eatery menu online previously, my brother decided the day had come where we'd go and satisfy our hunger here. After waiting for roughly 10 minutes, we were seated by the lone, friendly server, next to the open kitchen, where my brother and I sat with a warranted anticipation of what was to come - like a kid waiting to open his birthday present, wondering what's to emerge underneath the wrapping. The two items we ordered were: 1) Short rib benny - $16, rib was okay, not as tender as expected, could have had a stronger presence on the plate, hollandaise was okay, eggs were not cooked to soft-boil as requested 2) Truffle mushroom cheesy burger w/ fries - $15, definitely cheesy, but could have been cheesier for a burger that touts itself as "cheesy", truffle could barely be detected amongst the ingredients, patty was a bit thin, fries were not hot, needed a tad more mushrooms While I absolutely do not consider myself a professional by any means, it was easy for me, and my brother, to tell right away what was main issue was with both the dishes. What the meats were severely screaming for was more seasoning. I do applaud Chef's for trying to go a tier-up and deliver food that's more creative and appealing to the average middle-class customer, but I couldn't get over the fact that such dishes had the potential to be so much more. Consider the price we paid for our meal as well; at approximately $40.00 after tax and tips for two people, I expected to leave relatively full and satisfied, but I have to report that this was not the case for me or my brother. For this reason, I have to give Chef's Playground Eatery 2/5 stars. The atmosphere and decor was nice, location was great, service was just fine (way to go, one-woman-army server!), but I definitely expected more from the food. I really want to support this local business, and I encourage you to give them a shot if you're down! Maybe I'll come back sometime in the future to try other items. Considering how many 4/5s and 5/5s there are on Yelp, I really want to come back and see the real Chef's at work.

Then finally settled for the featured item: Nam-Tok grilled pork bowl $24" w/ white rice, 2 eggs, tamarind glaze, toasted rice powder, chili flakes, greens, red & green onion, crispy onion, cilantro *upgrade to shiitake xo fried rice +$1 Isn't this such a unique and exciting dish? Unfortunately it wasn't executed well. Pork was under marinated, there was no tamarind taste, nor a hint of chili on it. What could have been a very tasty Thai dish turned out to be mediocre and disappointing. Presentation was nice and appealing though. Server is very nice and friendly. Ambiance is appealing. Nice to be on a sunny morning. Glass panels lets in bright sunshine making it a perfect brunch spot.

Perfect French toast and not too sweet. Also had the avocado eggs benedict which was a decent portion size and came with potatoes. We were informed we could sit anywhere outside. By the pleasant server. We were given the menu and perused what we wanted. I ordered grandma's clam chowder which comes served in a sour dough bun hollowed out. I also ordered waffles with fried chicken. Wifey got the sweet and salty which was French toast with soft poached egg/hollandaise. The waffle I ordered also came with a soft poached egg/hollandaise. For beverages I got a regular coffee and wifey got a lavender latte. The plating was absolutely beautiful for the dishes. My first bite of the waffles and chicken was delightful. The chicken was moist and seasoned well and the waffle was nice and soft. There also was a salad on top which was dressed in a sweet dressing. That was standard as greens go. The clam chowder had a decent amount of large clams in it, the texture and creaminess was good. I did feel the base or soup stock used was a tad light for my liking as I wasn't catching the essence of clam chowder flavor. Other wise it was ok. But filling it you intend to eat the whole bun which I did cuz I love sourdough bread. Wife's french toast was lovely, I had a small taste and to me it was good. Nothing mind blowing but decently good. The hollandaise used to be tasted buttery and legit. The meal on a whole was very good and we love the patio seating. Would definitely come back again.
