I've been to birdies off and on over the past year and while I love the decor and esthetic it seems to have hit a lull lately. Service staff are young and pretty but inexperienced and lack the polish of other restaurants in this category of casual dining. My most recent visit was with family and it took the host longer than usual to select a seat for us in a 30% full restaurant before 6pm. When we were seated, for some reason she decided to collect an excess setting by reaching across the table, leaving her long hair to dangle into two other dishes and settings - gross. Food was passable but not anything special or great value. It'll take a lot and a menu revamp for us to return. We much preferred Tap and Barrel at Brentwood for another meal that week! read more

First impressions: My friends and I came by birdies for dinner. We found that they had really done up the place really nicely compared to how it used to be (when it was earls). It is definitely brighter looking. We really loved the Cali-vibe it's giving off on the interior. We had a good experience with the staff as well. Very friendly and great with providing some suggestions since this was our first time at the restaurant. As for food, I had the big wok (added tofu) for my meal, liquid sunshine slushie for my drink, and orange creamsicle soft serve for my dessert. The portion for the meal: I was actually really surprised it was a really big and filling portion. I ended up packing half my meal to take home but I do have to say I really loved it and enjoyed it. The drink was super cute. It wasn't overly strong with alcohol which I liked for sure... I'm more of a sweet person so this worked out. A place I'd be back at again for sure. The only thing was that we went on a very hot day and we weren't sure if the AC was working in the restaurant coz it was cool (but not cool enough)... this is just something minor but overall good experience. read more

This was my second time visiting Birdies. I had really enjoyed the happy hour menu in my first visit and I was looking forward to going back. While the overall visit was good, it did lack in the same attentive service that we had received on the first trip. Almost every one of our interactions was with a different person and it really gave a vibe of disinterest in us as customers. We had about three interactions with our server and all were very stilted and awkward. Our appies were good and so was the key lime bar, but I chose the Thai Noodle Salad for my main and it was uninspired at best. My friend had fish and chips and felt largely the same way. Overall, I still enjoyed visiting Birdies. It's got a unique and comfortable ambiance, but my friend and I both agreed that we would stick to the appies or happy hour menu next time. read more

Great place to catch up with friends! It has beautiful outdoor seating that's perfect for the summertime. The drinks were good and I really enjoyed the key lime bar, which was recommended by our wonderful server Arthur! The food unfortunately was mediocre and pricey. This place is eclectic and trendy. They offer a nice variety of international dishes so it's easy to please a group with different tastes. The prices are a bit steep for what you get, but if you're looking to show off to friends, Birdies seems to be all about presentation. Starting with the positive, the pizza (El Cartel) had good flavour and chewy crust. But the "spicy" cauliflower wings were not spicy (served with a basic sweet chili sauce that's all sweet, no chill). And why call them wings? Cauliflower florets are not chicken wing substitutes. The guac was almost perfect with the fresh-fried chips being the best part. But the guac itself was overly tangy... If you're into lime juice, then go for it! Was disappointed in the bird bath Margarita. If there was alcohol in there, I couldn't tell. And we made a point of drinking it before all the ice melted. Nice presentation though. The desserts are a generous size. The key lime bar was the better of the choices. Since this place is new, the staff was trying extra hard... To the point that at least 3 different people checked in on us. Several times.. It was an excessive amount of interruptions. Growing pains I guess. read more

I dined in with my girlfriend at Birdies yesterday at 6 pm and it did not disappoint! As we walked in we definitely got the "LA vibe" with the interior. We went all out and ordered the Unholy Guacamole, the Oh So Sticky Korean Ribs, The Marg (Margherita) and the Salsa Verde Steak. The unholy guacamole added in with feta+corn was delicious, and the korean ribs were fall-off the bone juicy. They were so succulent and tender, and the steak we ordered was cooked to perfection (rare). It came with scalloped potatoes which were folded and boxed neatly. What topped off our great experience was the service received by Danica, who was very charming and enthusiastic! Will return soon. read more

It is just ok. And sometimes that is good enough. I came here for a quick happy hour with my friend to catch up on random stuff and talk about our lives. I like the food options and the drinks that they offered. On top of that, the vibe of the restaurant was just cute. I still think that they should have just gone for the more West Coast boho style of California. Loved the service of the venue though, as the waitress was extremely friendly and lovely to talk to. And they kept filling our water glasses. Anyways, they had a cute happy hour menu. My friend and I just decided to get the Birds Nest is what they called it. It is a margarita pitcher put into a "fancy" type of jug. It seems a little bit overrated, but I get it, as it gives you the amazing photo opportunities. For food, we ordered a pizza and a plate of calamari. I did enjoy the quality of the food, but the food felt a little tad expensive even for a happy hour. It was just a typical pizza and calamari, I really wasn't expecting tasting menu pricing for the end of the night. Regardless, it was a cute little restaurant, and that Earls is trying something new and trying to create a new brand. Birdies eats and drinks recently opened up on Lougheed highway close to boundary and took over the earls restaurant (which has since moved over to the amazing Brentwood) They have kept the bones of the old earls restaurant (also kept their loud music sound system too, it's quite hard to hear and talk with your dining partners over the loud music) but they have definitely given the restaurant a new makeover and have really created a Californian-inspired vibe to it. We had made reservations at 1:30 and their brunch hours are from 10am-2pm. We made our brunch order at around 1:45 but somehow our food never came. We waited and did some catch up as it was my friend's birthday celebration. Eventually our waitress came to check up on us again and thought we had already might have gotten our food by about 2:30 or even later (an hour later) it was realized then that our food never came and brunch time is over. We had to get items from their regular menu. Our order did go through but the miscommunication and busy kitchen had forgotten our order! The bright side was that the manager was so generous to give us the meal on the house. We did wait for a long time for our food so the least they could do, they were very kind to apologize and made up for it. We had a good time catching up and having our drinks to start with and luckily we didn't have any place to be so we could wait longer for our food. Everything worked out nicely in the end and I'm glad we had a good experience and more time to hang and dine. The drinks we got were the liquid sunshine slushie which was very frozen and very tall glass and refreshing. It was a hot day and dining inside seemed better than eating outside where it was heated with sun shine. For our starter we got baja calamari, which had lots of greens, avocado and such.. it was like a salad very tasty as it was colorful with lots of variety. The pasta saffron spaghettini I was recommended to us by our server and that dish was so good. Really my favourite pasta dish as the shrimp were big and tasted fresh and the noodles were cooked perfectly. For a main we got salsa verde steak cooked medium, that is super filling, it's a big piece. We also got a pizza and the forager was recommended to us, the mushrooms on the pizza was so good! The first bites were delicious but it did get greasy. Lastly dessert we ended with a soft serve twist of tropical orange and vanilla, it was so good to cool us down after our big meal. read more

This was our first visit and we will return. The service was welcoming and relaxed but efficient. We appreciated that our server made sure we didn't miss the Happy Hour cut-off to order drinks and starters. We shared the Thai Cauliflower Bites, Yuzu Wings and Crispy Chicken Lettuce Wraps. All were very tasty. The sweet chili sauce for the cauliflower was on the side, and the bites were equally enjoyable with or without the sauce. The wings looked overdone but it's just the black pepper and Yuzu coating; the wings were tender and delicious. The lettuce wraps were refreshing, and basically a taco without the tortilla. We each had a main (ultimately it was too much food - yay for take-away boxes). The staff were helpful to accommodate concerns about spice levels. We had the Pollo Loco (with plain rice), West Coast Chicken Salad, and the Southwest Chicken Bowl. Overall the dessert menu didn't appeal to us, and they were out of the feature soft-serve, but we were too full anyway! The restaurant is light and airy with a good mix of booth and free standing tables. It's casual and appears to be family friendly too. Although they don't have a specific kids menu they are reasonably open to adapting things to suit. The ample and free parking is very much appreciated. Prices were as expected or better than similarly styled restaurants. We didn't experience a WOW that would earn 5 stars but it's a strong 4 and we all agreed it was a great spot for friends or family to gather for a good meal. read more

My boyfriend used to always take me to Birdies last year when we first started dating. In Sept 2024, he had a major health event and spent six months in hospital. He is just beginning to be able to go out again and today was our very first time going back to Birdies. Well, it was our very first time going out to a restaurant since his injury! It couldn't have been better. I was concerned about accessibility and called ahead and was told it was 100% accessible, so that was great. Oddly, the only handicapped parking spot was quite far away from the entrance though but we just parked as close as we could get, which was fine. Our waiter Hasaini, was not only excellent at his job (and I am quite discerning because I served in fine dining in Vancouver for years), he went above and beyond the call of duty for us. He was attentive but unobtrusive, there when we needed him, did amazing table maintenance (something that is sorely lacking these days), made wonderful recommendations that we loved, brought us some tiramisu on the house and, to top it all off, he followed my boyfriend to the accessible washroom to make sure he got there safely. Wow!! I can't imagine how our first time going back out could have been better! It was amazing. This young man deserves all good things in life - he is kind and incredible. We will be back - again and again! Oh, and we love the room - the decor, the ambience, the whole thing. You guys rock! read more

Me and my gf got the strawberry bird bath margarita, it was really tasty! We also got the shot tequila with the verdita chaser on the happy hour menu, it was good! U don't even really taste think about it, but the green chaser had a little kick to it which I personally enjoyed. Our server krew was amazing, our service was amazing!! & one of the best I've had. The food is Earl's standards, nothing spectacular, just fun decent food. The store items appears to be the same price as their regular menu items, which defeats purpose why you would buy frozen food to bring home when you can eat it fresh in restaurant or simply just order take out. However, it appears that the staff may need a bit more training. Saw one of the greeters from front desk hugged some water glasses in her armpit to set up another table while I was dining-- not something I'd like to see in any food establishments, especially during a warm day, if you know what I mean. Food was so yummy, the presentation for each dish was beautiful and everything was so flavourful. The chicken main pollo loco was 10/10 my favourite, two big pieces of really well seasoned chicken with incredible Mexican style rice, and the calamari was some of the best I've ever had! cocktails are SO well made, super high end presentation AND taste for the price. you really feel like you're in California! their happy hour selection is massive and has so many good deals, spicy verdita marg is a must have. our server Lara is our new best friend, she really made the whole experience 10 times better! their manager Daniel was so sweet and funny and nice, and their other manager Andy came by to thank us for coming and gave us some incredible soft serve on the house as we left! the whole staff have the kindest, warmest vibe and make you feel like you've known them forever and like they're new friends. the provisions shop on the way out is amazing, if you keep your receipt from your meal you get 10% off which is also incredibly smart. already talking about making the next reservation, we will be going here all summer read more

My friends and I came here to catch up after work. We made sure to come for happy hour. The atmosphere is fantastic, there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. My friend and I split the Margarita Bath which was 6oz of Margarita serving 2-4 people. The margarita came in a dispensable container which was put on the table. The marg was tasty and the presentation was good. I am giving 3 stars because I personally felt like the Birria Tacos were overpriced and were burnt tasting. They were $20 with happy hour special and essentially came in 6 pieces but were really just 2 tacos cut into 3 pieces each. The tacos seemed quite dry. I am directly comparing these tacos to the Birria Birria Taco truck that is connected to Taps n Tacos in Port Moody which are absolutely delicious, unfortunately the ones at Birdies came up short. My total bill was $44 ($20 on marg and $20 tacos) and I was still hungry. The service was fantastic and fast. read more
