We visited Yokes on the Taylor Swift air for her weekend. It was a lot of fun coming here because they played Taylor's music, and all the employees were happy and wearing friendship bracelets. There was a 20-minute wait, but it was a decent morning, so it was not bad to wait outside the restaurant. We took a little stroll around the block. They do ask you to finish your meal in 45 minutes, so I feel like that's a little rushed, but it also allows you to avoid waiting for so long. They were swamped, and our server was friendly but not wholly attentive, as so much was happening. The expresso martinis were very tart. Our drinks didn't arrive until the end of the meal, but the restaurant took off one of the drinks. The grilled cheese and tomato was the best of our two meals. The eggs were not poached but soft-boiled. The mushrooms on the egg Benedict were delicious. The fruit salad was just a few pieces of fruit.
Such a great brunch spot! They are located on W Broadway, only a 5min walk from the Canada-line station. They use Yelp waitlist so you have to get there to put your name down. We went there on a Saturday morning and only had to wait 15mins for a table of 6!! It is a small restaurant so they don't allow for a group larger than 6 people. The food and drinks were soo good! Despite the name of this little establishment, they serve tofu scramble to replace your eggs :) I'm not a big fan of eggs so this was an amazing surprise for me. Their portions were big compare to their prize and the quality of the food was amazing!! The staff were very warm and took the time to explain the menu to us. Also a big fan of their tater tots!! Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for brunch spots on weekends.
I have had Yolks twice. The first time, food-wise, was a bit of a letdown, as I recall; however, this time around, the food was delicious. The poached egg was done well and worked well with the hollandaise sauce and mushrooms. The service has always been top-notch, with quick and friendly staff. The ambiance was light and welcoming. I suggest coming earlier before the weekend rash when the kitchen can make your meal perfect.
When we were here a few years ago there was always a lineup out the door, and today there was not only no lineup but pretty quiet inside as well. Now I know why. Here it is. The food was pretty bad and the service was worse. Our server I think must have been new. Not new at the restaurant, but I'm guessing new at serving in general, because she was overbearing. What I mean by that is that she tried desperately to please and it ended up being bizarre. I'll tell you how. We ordered the French toast and were served the pancakes instead which were raw in the middle. The manager standing right by our table was told, and she was literally a foot away from our table, but not a single mention or acknowledgment....as a matter of fact she was just indifferent to the situation and to the server in general. It was interesting to watch actually, because as soon as the manager showed lack of interest, so did the server. Human behaviour.....fascinating! When I ordered the Florentine Benny, the server asked which side I'd like assuming that it came with a side. It didn't. $1.50 for potatoes. I don't mind paying extra for sides. What I do mind is being taken for a fool. I'll tell you how I was taken for a fool....it's very simple. "Which side would you like?" - no charge "Would you like a side?" - extra charge. Moving on........ The Florentine Benny with my buck fifty potatoes were probably one of the worst I've had. I asked for medium poached and it was hard. The english muffin....oh the english muffin....that was a monstrosity in its own right. It was beyond soggy...it was so soggy that it was wet (see pic.) It tasted like I was eating a wet sponge, and honestly there was a mini gag reflex at one point. The eggs were cold and the potatoes were too oily for my taste. Since they got our order wrong, when the cheque arrived I made sure to go over it. This is where it gets a bit bizarre, while I was reading the cheque, I felt this head right by mine and over my shoulder. It was our server reading it with me, and as I turned around she stood back and gave me some space. Odd. Yeah....no more lineups outside Yolks Broadway....makes sense.
Came as a group of two. We waitlisted around 10.30 AM and managed to get in around 11 AM. Only half an hour, pretty quick compared to other brunch places in Vancouver. I ordered Buttermilk Fried Chicken. My order arrived, and it was pretty disappointing. Chicken and waffle were not crispy at all. At least the chicken was tender. Hashbrown was mushy, and soggy inside, it was horrible. Hollandaise was a bit on the thinner side. The only thing they did right was poaching my egg to medium. Service was ok, they check with you once in a while. Something to note, they want you in and out ASAP. Unlikely to come back just based on the food, there are better brunch options out there.
Stopped by here before noon on a Sunday and it was BUSY, there was about a 25min wait which gave us time to shop in the area. The food and portions were acceptable, let's talk about what was great.. get the freshly pressed Watermelon juice, it was divine! My friend got the watermelon mimosa and the champagne made the juice a little tart so it wasn't as good as the straight juice alone. Now the food..it was okay, everything could use salt, the ketchup had a chipotle taste that I couldn't get down with and they did not carry regular ketchup so that's worth noting. I got their potatoes and they needed salt and hot sauce, no jam was served with the bread or English muffin so there's that too. But the service was good and we did finish our food, it just wasn't a place worth stopping in again for us. We also stopped into another brunch spot the day before and that place set the bar.. in Vancouver a new brunch staple is Jam Cafe
I came here with a few friends on a snowy day. We called several times wanting to check if they were open, but their phone went straight to voicemail. Luckily it was open and there were lots of tables. I had the build your own breakfast - scrambled eggs with chives and butter was silky soft and very yellow and yummy. The 3 hash browns were so flavourful and melted to my mouth. The English bangers were fine. You can have a few different types of toast and I tried the multi grain and sour bread. It was toasted nicely and came with whipped butter. I also had the chai latte - very nice for a cold day. Overall a nice place for brunch. They don't take reservations though so expect a wait unless you go there early or on an epic snow day.
Went on a Sunday afternoon for brunch since they didn't have a wait. Got the Pork Belly Benny for my main and it was very good! Pork Belly was delicious, hollandaise sauce was very good. Only criticism would be that the English muffins weren't as fresh and the portions were a bit on the smaller side. We also got the Raspberry Goat Cheese pancake for the table and this was delicious. Shoutout to our server who was extremely helpful and made a conscious effort in giving us suggestions and make sure we had a good experience. This was a small thing, but the tables are a bit on the tinier side making it slightly uncomfortable while eating if you are a bigger group on the right hand side tables. Overall, an enjoyable experience. If you're looking for a solid brunch option, this won't disappoint.
One of the most recommended breakfast places in Vancouver went here twice, and every time, there was always a long lineup. Even when we pass by, we always see a cue of people, oh well, why not? It's worth lining up for. For twice that I visited, I ordered these chicken and waffles; I find the chicken so crispy and juicy that it goes well with the savoury gravy. The waffles were so good, as well perfect with the chicken. Poached eggs were perfectly cooked the way I want it. This is what a I recommend to those first time trying Yolks breakfast. Chicken Waffle, 20 We had orange juice for drinks, and yes, it's a fresh-squeezed orange juice, so good. We happened to be seated near the lady making drinks, and we could see her making; neat and freshly chosen oranges. Whenever someone asks me for recommendations on breakfast in Vancouver, Yolks are always-on the list. So if you are in Vancouver and haven't checked them out, your missing something good. Date of Visit: August 2021
I enjoyed the eggs benny and atmosphere of this restaurant. However my order missed the salsa (I didn't realize it though until writing this and looking at menu - I'm sure if I had asked they would have brought it since I heard the table behind me indicating their eggs had wrong level of poaching and they did bring them two fresh re-poached eggs - albeit oddly just on a plate, they didn't remake full dish). Also my poached eggs which she asked for level, were more hard than medium. I also think the hollandaise was a bit light - I could have used a heavier pour! My dining partner had the avo toast and that was a better dish. Huge despite being on light menu and really nicely laid out and seasoned. The tots side was well seasoned and I appreciated the table homemade ketchup but it was too sweet for me. The pancake dishes that were going out looked incredible but better for sharing- I saw half full plates getting thrown away. Drinks looked awesome but I didn't have this time. I will be back but probably with a different order.
Great breakfast spot especially if you're into eggs benedict. Highly recommend getting the truffle potatoes. They're absolutely delicious! They've also got pancakes, waffles and some other items on the menu, but we were definitely satisfied with the maple ham Benedict!
Always an amazing experience when I get to visit Yolks! I should really venture out and try something new cause everything looks amazing in the menu, but the chicken and waffles with a side of beignets always hits the spot! The service is always great! The hostess are always welcoming and offer help when trying to figure out what to eat.. I know it's their job, but they always seem to go above and beyond. I feel like in the past there wasn't an option to make reservations, so the line was always long, but now that they have capabilities of excepting reservations, make sure you get yours early cause the times go quick. As far as ambience, the restaurant is a nice size where you don't necessarily feel on top of people, or hear everyone's conversation. Well worth the wait if you can't make reservations!
I've always end up coming back because the food here is delicious! Their eggs benedict is a classic and is always very filling. I enjoy the pepper that is on the benny and tater tots as it adds additional flavor and the little bit of dijon mustard on top of the benny pairs well with each bite. I loveee their homemade spicy ketchup (it's not spicy) it pairs very well with the yolk tots! This location is a bit small and does get busy at times so I recommend getting a reservation if you can. read more

Yolks Broadway Rating: 7/10 Another brunch spot with a few locations around Vancouver -- always appreciate places that actually let you make a reservation! Overall, a solid brunch option with a pretty big menu, though it's not my personal favorite compared to some other spots in the city. Chicken and Waffles ($25)Apparently this is the classic order at Yolks, going all the way back to their food truck days. The portion was huge -- four waffles and a generous amount of fried chicken. That said, both the chicken and waffles could've been crispier. The eggs also weren't poached that nicely; we asked for medium and got hard instead. Blackberry Banana Bread French Toast ($22)This was a fall special and definitely something different! Instead of traditional bread, they used banana bread as the base. Personally, I found it a bit too dense and not quite moist enough -- I think brioche or challah would've worked better. But I did love the flavor combo of blackberry, banana, and feta cheese. My friend also made a good point: if you've got a sweet tooth, Yolks is worth a visit since they have so many waffle and French toast options to choose from. read more

Really enjoyed the salmon eggs Benny here. It was 21$ but I think it's worth it! It wasn't very a busy on a Monday around 8am. So I expected service to be fast but the waiters took a bit of time. Good thing I wasn't in a rush. I got the hash browns as my side and they were sweet! They have a great selection of breakfast items. I can't wait to try the other bennys they offer. read more

One of B's friend was craving brunch so we decided to trek on over to Yolks. They're next door to Saku and Santouka, which is only a few doors down. Their original location is out on Hastings. We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 1:00pm) and were quoted 30 minutes. Unfortunately, they messed up how they were seating tables and our wait ended up being an hour. I'm not a huge fan of brunch so this was almost overbearingly long. However, service was excellent. The menu is short and sweet; sweets, bennies and classics. - Chicken and waffles ($18.95) - Belgian waffle, buttermilk fried chicken, chicken gravy, pickled jalapenos, maple syrup and two poached eggs. This dish was worth the wait; not 100% sure but I think they gave us a generous (maybe double) portion. The chicken was delicious; incredibly moist and juicy. The waffles were crispy. The pickled jalapeno was a perfect bite of heat. - House-cured wild BC salmon & fresh avocado ($18.95) - fresh arugula and dill creme fraiche. We opted for the truffle-lemon potatoes. The eggs were well poached. Hollandaise sauce didn't feel heavy but did thicken up if you ate it slowly. Salmon was very fresh. The potatoes were fine but I could have used more of a truffle hit. - Buttermilk fried chicken benedict ($17.95) - pickled jalapenos served on 1/2 Belgian waffle. B's fried was satisfied and had enough leftovers to bring home a box. Impressed with my first time to Yolks. If the wait was shorter, I'd be down. read more
Amazing food amazing staff! At first I was a little thrown off after they told us we had to wait outside for our table because we could not block the entrance. But after we ordered our food: Portobello Benny - so amazing I would turn vegetarian if all food tasted this good without meat! Smoked salmon avocado Benny - EVEN more amazing! I had a foodgasm because this was the best Benedict I've ever had. I'm not from Vancouver I'm from calgary and no calgary Benedict will ever compare. I will wait outside anyday for their food. Their staff was super friendly still and we got our food super fast. I rave this place to my friends now. Would highly recommend. read more
As I've been here quite a few times, I figured it was time to leave a review. As it's not a big restaurant in a busy area of Broadway and Cambie, I recommend giving yourself extra time to enjoy your meal as they don't take reservations. The staff are friendly and welcoming but you can tell they are always go go go so don't expect to have long chats. This time around I ordered their Eggs Benny with pork belly which was amazing. If you have to choose a side dish, go with their truffle lemon wedge potatoes. On a side note parking can be hard to find in the area but you can't blame them however if you sky train, they are only a block away from the Cambie station :) read more

Thanks for the review Justin. Yolks now has a WaitListMe app to…
Met with 3 friends/colleagues for brunch. Even though I know 1 pm on a Tuesday isn't the most popular brunch hour, I was surprised that we were seated right away! The staff was all nice and our waitress was attentive. I had the Grilled Asparagus and Double Cream Brie Bennie with a side of Fresh Fruit. So so good! I actually started with the fruit - I appreciated how fresh all the fruit was, and I think the light dressing of maple syrup and lemon really elevated it. The eggs were poached perfectly and the combination of egg yolk/hollondaise/brie was delightfully rich and creamy. I got this even though the menu listed olive oil as one of the toppings because the rest of the concept appealed to me, but I am very sensitive to oily food and was worried that an olive oil topping might ruin it for me, but I actually did not notice any excess oil, so that was good. The brie and asparagus here also tasted very fresh. I asked for a side of hot sauce but barely ended up using it because I wanted to just savour the dish as-is. With the fruit as a side, I didn't feel heavy at all after eating this, just satisfied. I also had a decaf americano to drink and it was quite nice. I didn't end up needing it, but they do free refills on the decaf americano just like they do with the coffee since they don't have decaf coffee. Price is okay. Obviously much more expensive than if you just made it at home and not an everyday thing, but the quality was there, it's in line with what similar places are charging, and considering rising food prices and rent I think what they charge is reasonable. read more
Workers here are super friendly and I love that the menu is simple and straightforward but still have great options to choose from (because as a hella indecisive person, when the menu is too overwhelming, I sit there for 10 hours until I can finally decide what I want). My boyfriend and I both got eggs benedicts with the lemon truffle potatoes, and they were both delicious! Double Smoked Bacon ($16.95) - I got mine with the béchamel sauce since I don't like hollandaise, and I loved it! I wish more restaurants gave this option, because I'd def eat more eggs benedicts if this was the case! The whole thing was composed very nicely, and it was just enough food to keep me satisfied without weighing me down. The lemon truffle potatoes were also super yummy! Soft, fluffy housemade potatoes tossed in a light lemon and truffle sauce with salt - it was so good, I ate half my boyfriend's portion HAHAHA The workers were all super sweet and talked story with us, and let us sit for a good 20 minutes while we mapped the rest of our day. read more
Came in for an early breakfast meeting with a friend. We came when it opened at 8am. Not as busy as it was Friday morning. Was sat right away no problem. I've been to Yolks Hastings location, my first time in this location. With all the construction around Broadway with hard to get parking. I walked several blocks up and found 2hour free parking. Also near skytrain station. Menu is similar to what I remember, I often get their eggs benny but I was craving something on the sweet side, and I'm glad I did. I ordered the french toast. It wasn't overly sweet but enough to still the craving. I love that coconut crust and lemon curd on the side. It was just wanted I wanted. My friend ordered the eggs benny with pork belly, its her go to. She lives walking distance and here often. Service was great, not super big location, great breakfast / brunch atmosphere, I love that you can see the the kitchen. I don't know if I'm now getting use to really high inflation prices but thought that menu items was decently priced. I will be back. read more

Very nice service. Many options of benedicts. The food was very flavorful and the eggs were poached perfectly. Would have given 5 stars but half of the tots were over fried and didn't have the potato filling. read more
Been here a few times and I noticed little changes that's made me less a fan of Yolks and finding it just OK, especially when there's a long wait. Tip: On a weekday, we waited less than 15min at peak lunch hour vs 30min+ if you come on a weekend. The 2 egg benedicts are $11.25 without add-ons. After trying their Bacon vs Ham, I prefer the Ham with spinach and the dijon sauce which takes the benny to the next level. However, on my recent visit, the dijon sauce was barely noticeable and each benny had just 1 small spinach leaf. The ham was also cut thinner. The extra side order of lemon truffle hash for +$4.05 taste like regular potatoes now with a truffle oil aftertaste; so it was expensive for what it was. I added Yolk's Spicy Ketchup available at the table to help get some flavor in there. On the pro side, they do know how to poach their eggs just right and the hollandaise sauce had some good flavors; wish they gave a bit more sauce. And without the side order, price is reasonable. I've also tried their Chicken and Waffles and I wouldn't get it here again. There are other places that serve this better and this place is really known for their egg dishes (hence the name). Other pros: Service was very friendly and prompt. And when there's a wait, at least you can leave your name and phone # with the hostess so you can wander the neighborhood until they call you back when seats are ready. They won't seat you unless your whole party is present though, since they are super busy. read more

The eggs Benedict is pretty decent. The mushroom is decently cooked. The hot chocolate is also pretty good though the cup is pretty small and I am not sure if they do refill. Maybe I just don't know how to enjoy breakfast food, but I really don't see what all the hype is about. Good thing my friend and I didn't have to wait to get a table at 8:30am on a weekday, or I would've given 1 star! I purposely picked a table on the very inside so as to not be bothered by people lining up, and sure enough there was a lineup by 9am. Both of us got the special of the day, benny with braised beef short rib & crispy onion ring, mine with a side of truffle lemon hash browns and my friend's with a side of fruits. The benny was alright but not worth $15 or however much it was. The hash browns (which are totally misnamed and should just be called potato wedges) were downright disappointing. Our waitress at the beginning was super nice, but as the place got busier the service (mainly from a different waitress) became subpar. Literally the server handed me the credit card machine, left it at our table, and never came back. My friend waited a good 5 minutes before someone else came to help her with her payment. Totally not coming back! read more

Honestly, I feel like this place is overhyped. Why do we wait 1+ hours (we went to Honolulu Coffee Co. to kill time for what felt like a long, long time) for mediocre brunch? Staff are stressed and I was totally underwhelmed by my Doubled Smoked Bacon with Arugula Eggs Benedict. My friend got the Chicken & Waffles with collard greens which also weren't that memorable! I also found it to be pretty costly.. $11.25 just for the 2 eggs benny, but be prepared to add a side +$4. One pro: Cool that they have coffee roasted specfically for them. Their signage is cute and I'm glad they've been able to expand their company but something honestly felt missing and their food didn't seem that special compared to many other brunch places that offer eggs benny. perhaps it was just the one experience, but isn't it that the first impressions determine if you'll come back again? read more

I ordered from yolks for delivery and jt did not disappoint. I've eaten in at their Hastings location and don't remember it being this good. The chicken and waffles were so delicious, you have to try the chicken. The waffles were a little soggy but that's because it was delivered, nonetheless so delicious. Eggs were perfectly cooked. The maple smoked ham Benny was good too. I ordered a side of English bangers,2 for $4 is pricy imo for what it is. The dijon hardened on its way to me so I didn't enjoy it that much. I also got a side of the fresh fruit bowl which is extremely overpriced for what it is. It was nice to have an assortment but i expected at least double the amount of fruits. I'm not a coffee drinker but their brewed coffee was tasty! read more
