Got off work early which gave me time to drop by and visit my mom. We went out for brunch at Cindy's. On the table: Brunch Waffle Crepe du Matin Sunny Dish Even though I wasn't the one who ordered a crepe, I am still delighted to know that they offer crepe at this restaurant. I feel there is a shortage of crepes and wish there were more places that served crepe. I will definitely order a crepe on one of my future visits. I went with the Sunny Dish this time in an effort to go low carb and have more room for dinner in the evening. It was a great option and I think my favourite part of the dish is the avocado. It's just always so satisfying to see lovely, green avocado on my plate as avocado tends to go brown quite easily when we have them at home in our kitchen. It's also tasty, healthy and filling...The filling part matters when avoiding filler foods such as pancakes, bread, potatoes...etc. This is such a great place for brunch and really becoming quite a favourite for us now! read more

I had the Mediterranean Omelette it was well cooked and flavourful. The ambience was modern with a clean look. However, it looks like a cafe then a restaurant and you will need to walk all the way to the counter, on the other side, to speak to the staff to get a table. You know what pisses me off more than disappointment? Laziness. Their menu states they serve Persian "Sangak" bread. They don't. What is irritatingly stupefying here is that there is a Persian Bakery right across the street from them. With their approximately 10 seater dining table and 5 staff on hand someone could've done what?.....Yes!...jumped across the street to the bakery and stocked up on the bread they promised the customer on their menu before opening....Or am I just crazy? Well...I guess if they had done that....they wouldn't have had the time to giggle about it in the back like little school girls. Moving on...... The French Toast - Undercooked & doughy in the middle. Way too bare and unimpressively lacking in presentation. I mean you're paying for these dishes. I've had my 10 year old nephew make better French Toast. The bacon was tasty and the coffee was decent....even came in a cute little cup. So, that's something.... Breakfast Burrito - Good for an appetizer...Oh wait...it was an entree dish....enough said. Fancy Benedict - No, it wasn't fancy...that's the name of the dish ironically. It was cold, the salmon lacking and clearly someone's first attempt at making a Benny. The Service - We had to ask for everything. There was an underlying impatience with our server....like we were keeping her from something. Finally someone else came by with more coffee. Not the end of the world, but not charming either. This place reminded me of a first year medical student trying to do brain surgery. Education, Experience, Commitment. First thing I noticed here was that the water smelled awful. I'm not sure if it's the glass or the water itself. My partner said it's because they use unfiltered water. I literally had to hold my breath while drinking it. We ordered keto benny and sunny dish at brunch but felt the food was very bland. The taste is simple and homemade, but we also felt most breakfasts we make at home would be more flavorful. When my dish said it came with "tomato", I was expecting grilled tomato, but it was 2 little cherry tomatoes. The avocado was hard not quite ripe. Don't think we will be back. read more

The food is good and it makes sense why this homey brunch spot is a popular one with Hollyburn locals. Fluffy eggs and pancakes! During the lunch rush on a Saturday though, the wait is very long - we were there a good hour and 20 mins before our food finally arrived. We did appreciate the staff acknowledging the long wait. Like most places with long waits, I recommend Cindy's if you're looking to catch up with somebody and can wait a bit longer for your food. read more

My Fiancée treated us to some Skipp, so we tried Cindy's. We ordered some breakfast. The Fiancée and i ordered classic benny and the breakfast burrito and our daughter ordered scrambled eggs, sausage and pancakes. First appearance opening our take out boxes had my mouth drop, as it looked good but the portions looked tiny. What is this a meal for ants lol. After eating it, i think it was a good portion as I wasn't crying around i was too full lol. Classic benny - Was Delicious, eggs cooked just perfectly. only complaint maybe a bit more wedges lol. Breakfast burrito - we stepped out of our comfort zone with this one and it was Delicious. Was like a little Mexican fiesta party of flavors. once again only complaint maybe a bit more wedges lol. Classic diner with a modern menu. The decor is very simple. Reminiscent of a beach side tea room. The service is friendly and professional. The food is very good quality and well thought out. I went on a Russian themed day with cabbage rolls and borscht. The borscht was quite authentic and tasty. Came with lots of fresh berries, pineapple, slices of banana and real whipped cream which I am very particular about.The waffles could have been more crispy but still delicious. We got here around 10:30 am. The place is relatively small so if it's busy I'm sure we would have to wait outside 15-20 min. There were two tables available. We sat ourselves. The menu looks great. I had the crushed avocado toast, it comes on top of one slice of rye bread, a mixed greens salad with radishes and two poached eggs. I also ordered a side of one pancake. The food came relatively quick. My friend and I asked for an americano and the server said ok, yet brought us brewed coffee. It doesn't look like they have an espresso machine but I was a bit surprised she didn't say we have brewed coffee only. There is a big difference to me. Nonetheless, I am giving it 5 starts because you don't come here for coffee. Food tasted fresh and I think we will be back again. read more

Went to Cindy's last Friday for brunch/lunch. It's a cute place with nice decor, but nothing fancy. It seems to be a popular place as it was busy at noon on a weekday (we had to wait a few minutes to be seated). My husband and kids had pancakes, French toast and crepes- everyone enjoyed their food. I sampled the pancakes which were large, fluffy and delicious (but the syrup wasn't maple syrup, which we would have preferred). I had a BLT which was simple but delicious and very satisfying. The menu had loads of other options (bennies, omelets, sandwiches). I'd be excited to try some of the other items. My husband didn't love the espresso he ordered (our server, who I think was Cindy, mentioned that they don't make a lot of espressos, so not their specialty). This cozy cookery is run by a Mother, Daughter combo that knows how to cook and greets each costumer by name. I like that. The prices are a little more than i am comfortable with, but YOLO. Not a good definitely not a great experience at all! Started out with ordering two lattes saw the server behind the counter use the same dirty dish cloth that was used to wipe the tables to wipe the side of my latte cup!!! Then I ordered two omelettes vegetarian however didn't want some items in the omelette and the order was screwed up! Our order was taken right away, we enjoyed a great breakfast, excellent and attentive service and received our bill all within 20 minutes of walking in! Stumbled into Cindy's when I was hungry and looking for a sandwich and soup on the go. Cindy delivered! Craving something healthy, I ordered the vegetarian sandwich which came with grilled eggplant, avocado, tomatoes, lettuces and an olive tapenade on whole wheat bread. It was healthy and delicious and came served with a homemade tomato chorizo soup. Great combo for about $10. Don't miss out on this place...the food is so delicious. The Eggs Benedict are simply divine, the stacked fruit waffle is phenomenal (with fresh fruit...mmmm, so good). They use organic, quality food and the Hollandaise sauce is made from scratch, the BEST EVER!!! Cindy's is a small but bustling cafe in the heart of West Vancouver, it's worth the drive, you will not be disappointed. I ate there yesterday and will be going back tomorrow. I would rather pay more for a delicious meal at Cindy's than pay less (not much less) and be served a plate of garbage from one of the "chain" restaurants. One of the best spots in west Van for some breakfast/brunch. They're super full on Sunday's as the restaurant is not very big so keep that in mind. I love the eggs Benny they serve, they make it in so many different versions for anyone and everyone's preferences. Great service and great food! This place looked great so we were excited to try. Unfortunately, we left unimpressed. We got a table fairly quickly, but everything from thereon after slowed to a crawl. We ordered relatively soon after seating, but it took almost 15 minutes just to get our drinks (two lattes). We went so long without our menus or receiving our drinks that the other waitress actually tried to bring us menus, not realizing we had in fact already ordered 10 minutes prior. The lattes tasted great, which was nice, because they held us over for the 45 minutes or so that we waited for our food. Three tables that were sat after us (including after when we received our lattes) somehow managed to receive their food well before we did. We had to go up to ask about our food, and even then it was another 8-10 minutes before we actually got it. We never got asked if we wanted anything else to drink, despite our latte mugs sitting empty well before our food came to the table (water or a top-up of coffee would have been nice). Our waitress never bothered to check on our food after we received it, which was unfortunate, because the poached eggs on my breakfast bowl were very over-cooked (i.e., completely solid). Aside from the eggs being overcooked, the food was quite tasty (breakfast bowl and the 2/2/4 (?)). While the server was very nice, the service itself was very underwhelming. Our plates were never cleared, we had to ask for the bill, and we sat for about 10 minutes before someone came back so we could actually pay the tab (~$45). The cafe is quaint with historic photos of vancouver on the walls. Food is always delicious. Hubby usually orders the eggs benny or the bacon mushroom omelette and I always get the Ambleside Famous. This is my favourite breakfast stop and, like all good things, is within a few blocks of my place. This is important as it is quite small and quite busy so I can easily just pop my head in to see how the line is doing before committing to breakfast. I imagine if one didn't live close, Cindy's could be frustrating to get into. So bear that in mind. It's small. It's popular. One thing works in my favour that may not work in yours if you're planning to visit - I have midweek days off. This is a small breakfast joint that closes very early so you can imagine how busy it is on weekend. I manage to sidestep that due to my strange schedule, settling in usually on a Thursday after the morning work rush - 10-11 a.m. is a great time. Bustling but usually a table or two open. So it's small and it's popular - bear that in mind when scheduling your visit. Ignoring the fact I do not face the usual seating problem other patrons do, I could not, in good faith, rate higher than 4 stars for the simple fact I only know one item on their menu. I have not even looked at other items. I have no interest in their other offerings. All I want is my Caprese Egg's Benedict. If I'm feeling crazy I'll sample the Benedicts of others at my table (as, yes, I damn near strong arm people with me into ordering Bennies) but I'm set in my ways. Caprese Benedict or bust. Their Bennies I have pretty down pat - The crab is a crab EXPLOSION - a pile of meat so high you forget what you've even ordered under all of that. The wild mushroom is very savoury and, when I've forced that upon my mother by adding ham to the order, an absolute knockout. But that caprese is something else. The lightest, butteriest coating of pesto, thick tomato, a medium poached egg and the melting bocconcini set beside herbed homestyle potatoes, draped in their smooth hollandaise. I find Benedicts tend to be a bit heavy, and though I love them, the classic flavour weighs me down. Cindy's nails the Bennie by changing the flavour profile underneath that 'same old same old' sauce that ties it all together. I'm not much of a breakfast person so if I'm eating here, I've come specifically for it and I don't plan to change so, really, I have limited knowledge on their actual offerings aha. I have no idea how they do waffles, or pancakes, or sausage. The photos people are posting here look lovely but what is the poinnnt of eating anything beyond Egg's Benedict for breakfast. The service is great - the little blonde beauty is a highlight of my visit and, while I'm someone easily entertained, I am very particular with customer service having trained it for years. This girl is a gem - smiley, quick, and bursting with good energy. My boyfriend and I rave about her every time. I'm unsure if she's the only waitress, but she's the only one I've seen besides the owner who is a character and a half and cemented us returning to his establishment our first visit a year ago. I also recently went with my mother, who is from out of town, hoping to wow her (which it did) but what bears mentioning here is.. my mother is a character. Mentally ill and looks it. Usually she's treated with a standoffish manner, especially this side of town, and there was none of that here. She actually said she was so excited that another patron smiled at her and said helllo as she passed. This is huge for me and hard to verbalise but it really makes an impact. It's a great crowd. You can't completely blame her though as she was the only one working up front. The restaurant is small and not very decorated. we visited Cindy's for the first time on Boxing Day 2022 because it was one of the few restaurants open. upon walking in, it was really humid and smelled like mildew. there was only one person on, but there were only 4 other tables seated which isn't unreasonable (I've got 6+ years in the service industry) After we found our table, our server went back behind the counter and unloaded dishes for 10 minutes. she did not provide us with menus or water, which is basic. I finally had to approach the counter to ask for menus and water, and she barked at me saying "you can see I'm really busy I'll get to you when I can." eventually she did bring us menus and water, but then left for another 15 minutes to continue unloading dishes. my mother then approached the counter to ask if we should order up front or wait for her to come back around, and once again the staff member barked at my mom and told her to go sit down. all told, it took us 30 minutes to get an order in and when the food FINALLY arrived it was mediocre at best, not to mention cold.
