I have lived in the West End for too many years for this not to be a place I have visited. And I mean ever! Let's face it, the lines can be daunting! I wasn't even planning on going but when I walked by, there were only 2 people in front of me so I took my chance. The place was packed and they have plenty of table options. Lucky for me, I got sat in the back corner so it was not too busy. I wanted to try the Green Omelet because I love a good basil sauce, but settled for the Mediterranean (with feta cheese, spinach, diced tomatoes, onions, artichoke hearts, and house spread). Listen carefully, because this is very important, their sauces and breads are homemade (according to the menu). So this sauce was unique, and really complimented the packed omelette. It was creamy and tangy (it contains cream cheese, sour crème, mayo, and herbs). This was delicious and had so much packed in. I lived the sautéd spinach the most. The dish comes with their potatoes or home made bread. I choose both and add sour dough (for an up charge). The potatoes were flavourful but were warm at best. The bread is buttered and thick slabs. This was easily a 2 person meal and served as excellent left overs for the next day! Service was fast and thorough. They are used to go go go so they are very efficient. Prices are reasonable but they don't do substitutions. Definitely recommend for a home cooked breakfast! read more

Here in Vancouver for 2 weeks. Saw this next to the Hotel. Gave it a try well I have never seen a thiner slice of Ham in my life. I mean you could roll a joint with it . The small portion of potato was luke warm and the yolk on one egg was broken. I paid 20$ for this awful food. Can't understand who gives this place a good review??????. I've been meaning to write this review but was selfishly keeping this West End gem to myself. I eat at this restaurant every chance I get. It's my go to for breakfast in all of Vancouver. The food is perfectly delicious and consistent which is very hard to do. I've never had a meal or mocha that wasn't 10/10. I get the Deluxe breakfast almost every time, the scrambled eggs are magic and the home made sour dough is rustic, flavourful and perfectly toasted. The best part of this place is the staff. HANDS DOWN, the best group of people. They're warm and welcoming, it's like having breakfast with friends. Robyn, Ralph, Lorena, Rowan and Veda feel like old friends now. Whoever owns this little place needs to do whatever they can to keep this group of staff happy so they never leave. read more

So rude!!! so I called and asked how long the wait was for two people. The lady that answered said less then 5 minutes. I said great, be right there. We hardly ever come downtown. So before paying the meter. I was looking at the sign that said we love kids but keep your kids relatively quiet. Thinking that was kind of rude. The lady asked if we were here for a pick up order. I said no, a table. The man jumped in and talked over her and said, "there is 10 people ahead of you. So it will be at least 30 minutes. If you want to keep your table then wait outside!" I said "the lady literally said less than 5 minutes." After thinking about it I didn't want anything to do with this place. I am not paying to be treated rudely. I don't care how busy he is. Wait seems long, but in reality it's way less than staff will tell you because it seems like a lot of people on the waitlist just leave and there is no way to cancel your name until you are offered a table. read more

Definitely not worth the price. My sandwich came with "potatoes," which turned out to be literally a single tiny scoop that could fit on a tablespoon. For what they charge, that's pretty insulting. But the worst part was the coffee policy. With a drip coffee, they'll give you cream or milk for free. But if you're lactose intolerant and ask for almond, soy, or oat milk, they charge an extra $2.15 -- just for a splash. Outrageous. Definitely an overpriced menu, and unfair charges, I definitely won't be back. read more

I tried this place for the first time about 5 years ago and didn't like the food. This is an update as to my experience of this place a couple of days ago. What I liked about it was the warm reception and service, but again it was also the service that ended up letting them down. I know...it's a bit of a contradiction. I'll explain. When we arrived, they greeted us with a smile and a warm welcome and took our name down to text us when our table was ready, which was estimated at about 20 min. So, we hung out and after about half hour we checked back in and they told us that they had taken our number down wrong and that our table was ready a while ago, but managed to seat us anyhow. Now as for the food. It took an hour for our brunch to arrive. We were almost going to leave as we had a prior engagement to attend to and were not thinking of such a lengthy time commitment for some eggs and bacon. When it did arrive, it was not worth the wait. I'll tell you why. The Mushroom & Bacon Benny: I personally prefer my Benny on an english muffin...crispy preferably, but this one came on a biscuit and that's fine....I've had them on biscuits before. Have you ever bought a fresh scone or muffin and you let it sit on the counter for a day and then put it in the fridge for another couple of days, and when you take it out it crumbles and you dare not bite into it? Well.....that was the condition of the biscuit my Egg Benny was served on....old, stale and crying to be chucked in the garbage bin. There was barely any bacon even though it was a bacon and mushroom benny and the whole dish looked like it was just thrown together....I mean if you're going to throw together guests' meals ....maybe manage to do it under an hour? The potatoes were cold and they were not fresh. They tasted like left-over potatoes....like, you know when you make fresh food but microwave it the day after? Yeah, it was the day after version. Anyhow, it wasn't even aesthetically charming. The Salmon & Avocado Omelet: The salmon was nice and the avocado was fresh, but the omelet was too thick. You know what happens to an omelet that has too many eggs? It becomes too saturated and thick and ends up tasting rubbery. An omelet should be thin-medium density and tossed in butter at the right amount of time each side, so that it keeps its natural moisture. Why not oil? Because, you can taste oil on eggs....if you like the taste of oil....go with oil. This omelet was rubbery and unseasoned. So, the food was a let down. Specially after waiting an hour. I liked the fact that they had very politely put up a notice of those with children asking them to kindly watch out if their little ones become too noisy. That was the first time I've seen this and was impressed. A consideration and equal respect to those without children wanting to dine in peace and comfort is highly underrated due to today's increasing concierge parenting styles. I really appreciated the business' direct effort and attention to a matter, which is so taboo in the expectation to want to dine in peace without other people's children disrupting, interrupting and disrespecting other diners merely due to the parents' lack of attention to their dependents. Checking out local cafes is my favourite thing to do but when i am hungry i just go to any random place. Great thing is that this place turned out to become my favourite one. My first visit was before covid when i just enjoyed a cup of coffee on their patio but this last week , i stopped again to try the yummy food. I was delighted to see that new transparent dividers complement the interiors so well that i was comfortably dinning in along with other patrons . Server was so cheerful and happy doing what she does. Food is amazing. Pancake was so soft that it just melted in my mouth. Ham could be more flavourful but it was well done and tasted great. I ordered the vegetarian breakfast burrito bowl and man was it ever delicious!! The chipotle sauce that was drizzled over top was just amazing and I would buy a bottle of it if I could! I really really wanted to like this place. I left annoyed and dissapointed. I understand that a popular place can get busy, which leads to table waits a slower service, but being a Tuesday... I didn't expect it to be this slow. It shouldn't take 25mins for eggs and French toast. Also, my eggs were over easy when I requested poached, but I was too hungry to bother complaining and waiting another 20mins for eggs. There was no food check/5min check/do u need more coffee check and it ended in me going to the counter to get the bill to pay and leave. This place is expensive. The French toast is bland. Overall this was the worst brunch I have had in a long time. A friend suggestion we meet here for breakfast today and I am so glad she did. I ordered one of the breakfasts and added sausage which I didn't need because I was stuffed by the end of this meal. Hash browns were fantastic but the best part was the sour dough bread It was the best sour dough I have ever had Wanted to buy a loaf to take with (don't eat bread at home because I am addicted) But the owner makes it and she only makes enough for them to consume at restaurant. They did fit a lot of tables and chairs in this small area so when people were seated around us it was definitely the back of my chair against the back of the chair of the person behind me. Saturday morning about 10am waited a few minutes for a table. Waitress came and took our order right away. 20 mins goes by nothing.....another 10 minutes we ask where are food is? She goes to check and says it's really busy with take out and will be 7-10 mins. This is while tables that sat down after us have their food. Another 15 goes by still nothing so we got up and left! I live across the street and treat myself to one of their Mediterranean omelettes and home fries every couple of weeks. Quick service for take out--just call 10 minutes ahead and everything is ready to go when you arrive. Service has always been warm + friendly, too. One thing to note: If I was basing review on omelettes only, it'd be 5+ stars. However I have also tried their grilled cheese and it was not a win :( It felt like it weighed about 10lbs. It's hard to believe there could be such a thing as too much cheese, but there was--and coupled with their very dense homemade bread it was literally a brick. I couldn't finish even half of it. I walked past this morning and was excited I could get a table without waiting. Here is how it went.. My order was big but simple, a meaty breakfast special and it came quickly. The cafe was full except for one table and people were coming and going at a steady pace. My food arrived quickly and was exactly what I hoped it would be. Nothing obnoxious or overpowering, just food that looks and tastes good. Flawlessly presented and delicious. As I happily chowed down a senior in shorts with a cane came in and he was cared for quickly and with respect. It was nice to see such polite courtesy to be given so freely. As I was paying my bill I saw some pastries and they looked even better than what I just finished eating. I'll have to come by to pick those up another time. All in all, I've got a new place that I'm willing to get up early to grab breakfast at. read more
