Went for breakfast at Pur and Simple on Main Street in Vancouver this time. The place is super busy especially at the breakfast hour. It has now become my go to place whenever I am looking for filling yummy and healthy breakfast options. I really love the French toast and it's one thing that I always order. Simply delicious. Also tried veggie omelette this time. It had stuffing of variety of veggies and mushroom with guacamole, bread toast and fried potatoes on the side. We really loved it as well. Very fresh and healthy. Service was great and the ambience inside restaurant is nice as well. The portion size is really good and fair for the price as well. I would say sometimes the place is bit noisy but lively. Already planning my next visit here soon .

I always say this place is like Cora's but better quality. A Sunday classic in my eyes. The coffee is 6/10 but I think the quality of the food is great for the price. The service is always great and it's really nice sitting by the windows. Washrooms are clean. The keto option is also amazing though not pictured.

Loved this place! Not sure why it's not highly rated here on Yelp but I agree with the Google reviews -- great brunch spot! We came on a rainy Saturday brunch time and only waited a few mins for a table. Parking can be a bit tricky but you can find free street parking a couple or few blocks away. Ordered an oat milk latte -- delicious! The seasonal apple French toast -- divine!! Also got the steak and pesto hash -- yum!! The potatoes were crispy on all sides, which I loved. I'd come back here for sure!

the pic looks better than it was. I ate the egg and the one piece of tomatoe. soggy, tasteless and the cheese tasted like old frozen cheese

This was one of our fav places to go for brunch, for the waffles and smoothies. Food was very good, not outstanding, but a great place to go with friends and family. I haven't been there for a couple of years and I was shocked at how it changed, and not for the better. There were a lot of people waiting and inside there were so many tables just there, dirty, nobody taking care of it. The service was terrible, polite, but terrible, the waiter never came by to see if we wanted more coffee, brought the food but did not clear up to have space to put the plates, and it was very hard to understand. The once awesome potatoes were soggy and the portion was half of what it was. I ordered avocado toast and it was disgusting. They didn't toast the bread so it was all soggy, I just ate the tiny egg on top and the one tiny piece of tomatoe. The coffee was bad, the service was bad, the place is dirty, and on top of all that got massive stomach ache afterwards. I bet they don't even follow basic hygenic rules. Another great place bought up by the same group of people from a certain place in the world. I will never go back there.

We ordered just prior to a rush of people however the 10 people seated after us received their orders before us. We were a party of two who had simple orders so we asked our waiter to check on things and he LAUGHED at us, saying it's busy. I was shocked. I've never had such abysmal customer service. We waited 45 minutes for food (while watching the people who came in after us eat) and when it finally arrived it was incorrect and room temperature, hard to believe it hadn't been ready sooner. But we were too hungry to send it back. I would not go back here because the food was not good enough for such rude service.

My friend calls Pur and Simple her little hidden gem brunch spot-- she absolutely loves it, has come many times & finally brought us here for her birthday. After trying out their brunch, I can absolutely understand why she adores this place so much! This was the east van location! I walked in and immediately felt at ease with how spacious & cutely decorated it is inside. Our waiter was amazing & super attentive. He gave excellent recommendations for a first-timer like myself! He was also quite chatty, which I appreciate and thinks it's adds to the overall experience. Granted, the place wasn't busy at the time (since it was a weekday) and I assume that's why everything felt more chill and relaxed at the time. What I like about their dishes is that they have a good balance of both sweet & savoury in one plate and the price is good for the big portions that they offer! I will be adding this onto my list go-to brunch spots now:)

Tried their Angus Benedict and it was pretty tasty. Everything was fresh, filling, and the egg was cooked to perfection. The only recommendation I would make would be having some kind of greens would be a nice touch (gotta eat my veggies!). The atmosphere was wonderful, it was bright with natural light, and staff were very friendly.

Finally found somewhere in my neighbourhood that's NOT Denny's or Cora's LOL. It was so big and spacious inside, bright and bustling with people. I really liked the layout when I entered. The service was excellent too despite it becoming busier. The presentation of the food and the taste were great! Good brunch spot for the girls, fam, or even just for one. Not to mention, LOTS of Caesar and Mimosa options!

I ordered breakfast to go from here and overall it was good. The breakfast poutine was cheesey and smothered with Hollandaise sauce. I wasn't a fan of the sauce and it felt separated as it tends to happen when not done right. The smoked salmon eggs Benedict was delicious. Plenty of smoked salmon, capers and red onions. Loved this except for the Hollandaise sauce, which I'm glad I ordered on the side. The breakfast burrito is another solid option as well. Eggs, cheese, beans... You can't go wrong.

I'm very confused by the bad reviews. I have ordered from here a few times online and been in person and I've never been disappointed. I would definitely suggest going in person in stead as breakfast food can ALWAYS be iffy ordering in especially eggs but I've still never been upset. The food is very delicious not a single person I've been with is upset over the food and all loved it. (Definitely should have a shredded hash brown option tho although theirs are still good I think they can be improved or have options. It's a very cute obviously breakfast lunch restaurant very bright with lots of windows and many seats throughout the restaurant. Our service was again very good there were a few mix ups, we were a bigger group but they were apologetic and fixed right away our server had only been serving 2 days. This is definitely a great restaurant if you are in the area to check out I am very confused about the bad comments at this restaurant and definitely recommend to go out chat with friends and eat good food.

    Ronnel S.

I celebrated my b day in here,my first time and i was blown away how busy this place is.. Huge place very clean and excellent service Reservation will work best. We had the usual b fast and we all enjoyed what we ordered. Surprisingly i had a b day pancake (not sure if my friend bought it or courtesy of the restaurant) and it comes with different colors, plus few crew singing a very lively jolly happy b day song for me,i love it so much the picture is so editorial and super instagrammable. Wash room is immaculately clean, neat flooring and tables, contemporary decor, parking can be a problem but there is a paid parking on the site. Noise level is above average, the place was full when we visited: Pricing is just right. Good for Group and family, breakfast haven and all kids friendly place,I noticed lots of kids and most of them eating the colorful pancakes. Accept cash, debit and credit cards. Im not sure if this is a family owned business but I wanna say Kudos!!! Great marketing strategy, location wise its perfect accross a small shopping center and very near to bus stop. With all honesty I recommend this place to all yelpers and Vancouverites to give it a try...2 thumbs up. .....I shall return.....

Service was good, friendly. The restaurant is the same as I recall, clean enough. A little cramped and the seating isnt too comfortable. Ive had it before and at least its pretty consistent. Ive tried several other things on their menu in the past too, all pretty solid 4/5. Nothing standout as so amazing to deserve 5 stars, but consistent and tasty. I did have a reservation which they charge $10/person for, purely for donation to a charity and does not contribute to your meal at all, and also nonrefundable. While I find this somewhat annoying, I dont blame them for doing this from a business standpoint. They always have a lineup so there is no shortage of customers for them. There is no reason they need to deal with the headache of a ton of reservations. On the flip side, they honoured my reservation in a very timely fashion and I bypassed the line, so props to them for doing that part right. I find that even though I am back home now, I still think about having that breakfast poutine. It was a nice mix of sweet, spicy, and savory between the roasted pineapple, charred tomato salsa, pickled jalapeños, and salsa verde. The bacon and potatoes were nice and crispy too! Not only will you find the best food here, but the views are unmatched too. If you get there early, you can enjoy your breakfast by the window or on the patio overlooking the marina. I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

The space itself is elegant and charming, making it perfect for a pre-spring outing, a catch-up with friends, or a low-key celebration. Would I come back? Absolutely--especially for a themed menu like this.

Service - 9/10. Everyone we interacted was very kind and helpful. We especially enjoyed our time with the bartender who was attentive to our needs. Smoked salmon bagel -- 9/10. This was really good and fulfilling. The smoked salmon tasted fresh. Avocado toast -- 9/10. Solid avocado toast which paired nicely with the salad and poached egg. I ordered some bacon on the side for some additional protein Berry french toast -- 4/10. I found this to be dry and lacking in flavor. I wouldn't recommend this. Wings -- 6.5/10. The wings were just ok to me. I personally prefer when my wings are already separated. Flavor was good for the first bite, but got tiring after French onion soup -- 5/10. This was my first time trying french onion soup, so I could honestly just not like the dish, but I thought it tasted awful. At the end we just had chunks of cheese Chocolate cake -- 8/10. Super rich and decadent. A great dessert option if you're looking for something to end the meal!

But first, the food - I ordered scrambled eggs, chicken apple sausage and paid an extra $1 for truffled lemon potatoes. The verdict? 4 out of 5. I'd ordered the eggs "very soft" and they verged on medium-firm. They still tasted good. I'll gladly pay extra for the truffled potatoes next time. My husband ordered the salmon avocado benny. While he loved the tomato soup he chose on the side, he was less enamoured by the benny itself. I had a taste and was underwhelmed by a forkful of overripe avocado and slightly fishy-tasting salmon. We finished with an order of beignets which despite being freshly-fried, were bland; although the accompanying strawberry sauce was deliciously tangy-sweet. Onto the service. This place spins like a top, and I mean that in a good way. Although we came at a peak time, all front of the house staff we encountered -- from the hostess to our bubbly server, to the smooth manager -- struck a perfect balance of being in flow, working flawlessly together, and maintaining light conversation with us. Exemplary. 5 stars out of 5.

We were having gorgeous weather in Vancouver so we decided to eat on the covered patio. The place is pretty cozy, but was only moderately busy when we went. They have a pretty good menu with lots a Benedict's and a build your own breakfast option that seemed pretty nice. I took the recommendation from our server and got the bacon benny. It did not disappoint. I think I have recently discovered that I love poached eggs and these were perfect. The yolk was nice and runny and the white was firm but not hard. I like to cut in to my egg and have it run down and get messy on the plate. The hollandaise was excellent. So many breakfast places will serve it broken, but not here. It had the perfect amount of lemon, butter ratio for my taste and I really enjoyed it. The bacon was good, not to salty, and the english muffin was, well, an English muffin from a package that they toasted and out on the plate. I did splurge and paid the extra dollar for the truffle potatoes and they were very good. I love truffle oil on potatoes so I am a sucker for it whenever its on a menu. You just cant mess it up. Fried potatoes, truffle oil, and a lemon squeeze to bring it all together. My wife got the brunch burger and she loved it. It was a messy breakfast burger that a lot of places have but this one was done right. A poached oozy egg, on a burger patty with american cheese, the best burger cheese in my opinion, bacon, hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun! It came with tater tots and they were nice and crispy just like she likes them. Well, why didn't I give it five stars you may be asking? Great question. Here it is, each plate came with a side that was just awful. Mine had some "fresh" fruit that nearly made me laugh. It consisted of the saddest, limpest piece of watermelon I have ever seen this side of a trash can. I also had an old crusty orange wedge and a single grape. My wife got a slimy side salad that I think was holding on for dear life. Both, we deemed inedible and moved on immediately. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. There might be another one that says if you eat rotten food maybe get a different job and see rule one. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. We would just avoid the salads and fresh fruit and stick to the food they cook.
