Elysian is a cozy coffee shop located on Broadway. I wasn't looking for this place, but wandered into it during my venture. It was a little busy when I came in. The staff was very friendly and made recommendations on the two different drip coffees that they were brewing; the Guatemala and Ethiopian roast. You can also purchase pastries, bottled water and canned drinks. Outside or inside seating is available.
Fantastic, quick service coffee location with classics and a few special treats. I had the Rosemary Brown Sugar Latte and it was perfect for a cold afternoon. I also noted a few gluten free options in the pastries.
One of my go to places for a coffee along the Broadway corridor. The staff is always so friendly and there is a decent amount of sitting room to meet up with someone for a quick chat or to get some reading it. A staple in my Vancouver coffee shop round up.
Went here after a hot yoga class nearby. Cafe seems cool and I like the pink exterior and all the plants inside. Unfortunately, neither the coffee nor cleanliness impressed me. Typically I'm a fan of nitro cold brew but somehow this didn't cut it for me. I wasn't impressed with the flies flying around in the cafe as well.
This coffee shop is located about 2 blocks from the Holiday Inn on Broadway. There's currently no street parking due to construction so if you can walk that's the best option. The inside is cozy and filled with plants. The service was good and our coffee was ready pretty quickly. My only complaint is that they don't have any flavoring for your drink except honey. We ordered the mocha and it was delicious. It was made perfectly.
I've been meaning to come here because I love the coffee at places that use their beans, but when I saw they had a rooibos chai and ended up getting that instead of anything bean. Pretty good chai latte, unsweetened (which is my preference) but very smooth. I also had the Rosemary Egg Muffin and a Friand. Egg muffin was really nice with the layer of melted cheese on top and made a light but surprisingly satisfying lunch. It was my first time seeing a friand and it sounded neat so I wanted to try, and really liked it! It's kind of like a cross between a poundcake and almond cookie - very dense, but soft and moist. They have a small assortment of other baked goods and 3 sandwiches (two meat sandwiches that I can't remember the details of and a grilled cheese). The food is priced pretty reasonably. They apparently have complimentary sparkling water but the friend I went with and I weren't offered any and I didn't see it mentioned anywhere, I only gathered this from watching other customers get it from the barista when they ordered. Very cool that they have it and I wish I'd known about it to take advantage when I ordered. The front facade of the building is really pretty. The interior is basically a run-of-the-mill Vancouver coffee shop: clean and bright, lots of plants, lots of natural light. It's on the smaller side, but laid-out well so that it doesn't feel cramped or get congested. Baristas were nice and approachable. From my perspective, it's a good place to try if you're in the area often, but it's not somewhere I'd go out of my way for. Even though it was my first time there I feel like I've basically been to this same shop dozens of times... Nothing really wrong with it, the food and drink was very good and the environment pleasant, just lacking character. Maybe I'm just becoming a little jaded though. :)
Location: This coffee shop is busy but not because its all that great but because it is in a very busy central location near bus stops and shops. No parking. Atmosphere:Frankly this café isn't a very chill spot. It was small and there was limited seating. The service, is rushed and the baristas don't seem all that glad to be there. There's a lot of café competition in Vancouver. So if the atmosphere is not warm and inviting I would just go across the street. It cost too much $$ for drinks and food options are few. My pastry was not fresh, it was dry and cold. The service is just sort of average. It's a bit disorganized because folks don't know where to stand to wait for things as there's not much room inside or direction given.
Visited this coffee shop near my work and I'm happy I dropped by to get some work done. They don't have wifi but I had access to the Shaw Wi-Fi in there. Many customers are in and out around 8am when I visited during the weekday. They have signs on the table to let you know a table is clean and they limit you to stay 30 minutes. However, it wasn't busy so they didn't push for anyone to leave after 30 minutes. Lots of seating inside. I know they also have seating outside on the side and front when the weather is decent. I ordered their iced latte which was fine. Didn't think it was anything special. I'll be back to try more of their coffee options and pastries.
Possible the best croissant I've had... ever. I had to redownload Yelp just to write this review. So glad I stopped in for a quick bite.
Looking for something different other than your standard coffee at Starbucks or Blenz? Well you came to the right place as it is conveniently located on the busier side of broadway which is close to transit. Street parking is easy to find. This little cafe is quite busy and seating is usually limited, seems trendy and a great place to hangout. When seating is scarce I usually get it to go. This time round I decided to do a review and I come to this place quite frequently. In short - they have great service, always friendly and have approachable counter staff. They make a mean latte - strong enough to satisfy ones caffeine craving. They also have assortment of baked goods and other various items. Pricing is quite typical of a coffee shop and quite reasonable. In short I would come back!
Elysian Coffee had been on my list of coffee places to try for the longest time.. and I finally tried it yesterday! Was in the area to get my travel vaccines and had to grab my morning coffee. Such a cute cafe! Located in a great area and the cafe was already quite busy when I got there and a lineup formed after I ordered. I got a latte and really loved it. Great quality coffee! Their pastries looked delicious but did not get one this time as we were going to grab lunch soon. But definitely will be back again!
I have been meaning to try this place for a long time and have bookmarked it over a year. Finally, I got a chance to go there on my day off. I went there on Friday morning and found it's so busy!! Long line up at the cashier, no seat available and even no space to stand! I didn't understand why the people rated them so high and I really disappointed with the coffee that I got. My hubby's latte wasn't impressive and my mocha wasn't great. The baristas was not friendly at all either. Between Main and Cambie Street, there are a lot of coffee shops a way better than Elysian. I wouldn't recommend this place at all to anyone
I came here for a coffee and scone for breakfast this morning. It has one of the best lattes in Vancouver. Their latte is smooth, thick and fragrant and it has its personality in it. I drank the latte with their scone. Best combo especially their bakery goods were fresh and warm. I bought a German wood coffee grinder from them several years ago. They had unique coffee machines, grinders, accessories and etc. They are quite specialized in the coffee industry. Their pricing and service were average. Coffee lovers should come visit this coffee shop if you haven't tried it yet.
If you're expecting a latte to come adorned with swirls and sugar-induced euphoria, look elsewhere. Elysian's latte is a no-nonsense, no-sweetener affair. It's coffee for grown-ups who appreciate the pure, unadulterated taste of the bean. Strong, bold, and not a hint of saccharine nonsense. The blueberry almond crumble muffin at Elysian is a lesson in moderation. It's not trying to be a pastry behemoth - it's compact and slightly sweet. The kind of muffin you can enjoy guilt-free and still feel like you've treated yourself. Elysian's large windows facing Broadway are like a cinematic experience for coffee lovers. Sip your unsweetened latte, nibble on that just-right muffin, and let the urban theatre of Broadway unfold before your eyes. A coffee shop with a view - what more could you ask for? read more
I LOVE this place. I hadn't been in years, but stopped by yesterday as I was in the area. It was even better than I remembered. Not only is the coffee amazing but the food is equally good. I got a Latte and Rosemary Egg Muffin. Loved both. The atmosphere is bright and airy, and the staff are super nice. I definitely won't wait so long before coming back again! read more

Before 10am: quiet study area with good ambience. After 10:30am: crowded, noisy, people rudely dragging chairs from different tables. I give it 3/5 because the baristas were nice and helpful, coffee was ok (moderately priced), store decor was beautiful. There was no wifi however, which made this place unsuitable for studying. I guess it's more of a social spot, where the lunch rush overtakes the quiet coffee readers. Good first date spot though. The couple next to my table was probably on a tinder date or something...Very awkward vibe... The guy was trying wayy too hard... read more

Just bought a take out coffee. 3$ for prepared medium size, they kept the coffee warm in a vacuum bottle. This is not a make after order kind of coffee that you would expect for what they are charging .Bad value if you put money into the equation. The coffee itself is mild, acidic and watery. There is no body. It has some buttery favor. The experience is very lacking. It is like when i made my own cup of coffee but using too much water. It just makes you angry when sucking it down you throat. I hope my angry cells will recover. Won't be future customer. read more

I'm a yelping coffee snob. As I entered the little quaint cafe surrounded by newly built concrete buildings, I was greeted by a friendly smile from an Elysian staff. I ordered a cappuccino and watched the barista make the espresso; it's like an art form as he trys to make perfection. I let it cool for a few minutes on the counter; letting the air permeate with the strong smell of espresso seeping through the steamed milk and foam layers. I take a small sip to minimize any burning to my delicate taste buds. I savour a second sip and I'm in java nirvana and well on my way to a life of coffee snobbery. The cappuccino had perfect consistency with no hint of bitterness or burnt taste. From humble beginnings in Tim's and Bucks, I have come a long way to the zenith of the coffee world. I started my coffee drinking back in University when it was just about the caffeine and not about the culture of coffee. What was I thinking? Then came the trip to Italy, when I sipped my first espresso without any sugar, cream or other fillers that disguise the true taste of the perfectly roasted coffee beans. It was like I got kicked in the mouth and I realize there was more to coffee then just caffeine, what an epiphany. My palate was going through a java baptism. But seriously, coffee snobbery doesn't have to be something negative. It means one have the appreciation of the finer points of coffee; the different roasts, varietals and brewing methods that impact on the final taste. It means one is educated and passionate about our beloved bean. Coffee snobbery is the pursuit of the perfect brew of java or espresso with the ideal crema. It may mean you have a good collection of filters and French presses at home to make your kitchen look like a chemistry lab. But, no one said perfection is easy. read more

Vancouver's 101 Best Finds (I can't say Eat - this is a drink!) Item: Cappuccino at Elysian Price: $3.25 Size: 6oz Alternative sizes: Not allowed (unless you want a latte) Taste: Strong and frothy Appearance: Beautifully presented, decorated and foamy Food Options Available: Quiches, cookies, and pastries ... So I had to try this place..... look at it everyone is giving it 5 stars. I feel like the bad guy giving it 3.5... but my cappacino was so small, it's even smaller than a starbucks tall coffee (8oz), which wasn't able to be enlarged. Maybe I am still on a caffiene high as I cannot go to sleep at 2am, having drank my cup........................................about 10 hours ago. The place is quaint, wooden chairs, simple and clean. The prices are a little higher than others, but I think it's worth it once in a while. The chai (words from my food pervert) smelled strong, but didn't taste that way. The amaretti however was tasty, gluten and wheat free, with strong flavours of cranberry and orange. Bonus about this place is that they serve you water....that is CARBONATED, how nice was that! If you like to people watch, you can sit at the front bar to watch the strollers on West Broadway. Big negative for me - they kept the door opened in the back although the draft really left an uneasy feeling in my body.. BBRBRRRRRR read more
I ordered latte and strata? from this cafe. The strata? is essentially budding with cheese. It is a bit dry but I have never seen this before. Worth try. The latte is not bad as well, might come back after I finish trying all other cafes on broadway :) read more

Across from the BMW Dealership along Burrard, you'll find little Elysian tucked in across the street on 5th. With friendly hipster staff, Elysian offers some delicious coffee (distinctly by Elysian) and a wide selection of baked cookies! It's a cute little neighbourhood spot, just a block off of busy West 4th. read more
My go to coffee house on Broadway. They make a decent cappuccino. I would prefer a bit stronger espresso, but it's pretty good. They also carry a variety of baked goods, all made in house. If you are there at the right time when their scones are just out of the oven, it is a must try. The chocolate chip cookies are quite possibly the best in the city. Great service and goodies. What more can you ask for? read more

I spent many, many unrushed afternoons at Elysian sipping their clover brewed coffee during the last year I lived in Vancouver. My preference is always black filter coffee, but occasionally I had an iced americano & once a mocha, both were equally delicious. They have a selection of tempting baked goods made on site, their banana bread is deliciously moist & was always hard for me to pass up. Service was consistently friendly & they offer carbonated water on tap, which I liked a lot while drinking their coffee. They also shelve a really good variety of coffee paraphernalia which would satisfy any coffee geek in search of making quality coffee & appreciating its process. Don't miss their quiet patio outside on warm days. read more
I love coffee shops. Elysian is an interesting, hip cafe in the Fairview area. It reminds me a lot of Portland with all the prices in increments of 25 cents and the laidback, relaxed feeling with attention to detail taken when it comes to coffee brewing. Despite being full from lunch, I was tempted by the delicious looking double chocolate cookie in the bakery window and it did not disappoint. It was moist, sweet, and crisp on the edges. My drink of choice, a cafe mocha, was quite good and one of the better ones I've had in the city (and I've had a lot of them from everywhere). It had a nice balance of coffee and chocolate. Elysian is a cool coffee shop for a brewed beverage and I can see why it gets packed with students studying in the afternoon. Its clean, open space is very appealing in addition to the quality coffee and snacks. read more
I tried this cafe upon recommendation from a fellow yelper. I must say this coffeshop is not bad at all. I mentioned to the barrista that this is my first time in the cafe and she was willing to make suggestions based on how I take my coffee. I like my coffee with milk no sugar so we went for a latte. The latte is foamy just as it should be. It's not as strong as I'm used to. Since it was almost noontime I decided to order Turkey Croissant. The croissant is buttery and comes with a 2-yr old cheddar cheese. I must say I would come back just for the Turkey Croissant. The people who work here seems to enjoy what they're doing. The barristas are first name basis with the regulars. I think that's cool. read more

Coffee is very good. The atmosphere is very pleasant. This is a hipster, soup nazi-ish kind of place. I take my coffee straight up with milk, but family member wanted vanilla syrup in his americano. They don't have that or any sweetener (that I saw) other than white or raw sugar. Obviously they want it that way, but the response from the counter help was weird. Still giving 4 stars because my latte was great. read more
