Solid coffee in a convenient location! It was easy to order with the knowledgeable baristas. My iced americano was delicious and didn't take too long to be ready. One thing to note is that I came during a summer day and it was extremely hot in the shop as if they didn't have any AC on. I can't imagine being able to study or work in that hot coffee shop, but there were definitely a lot of people doing so. I recommend grabbing coffee here if you're in Gastown! Clearly a spot that has quality coffee and great options. The staff was friendly although not super helpful when the group in front of me who were clearly not well versed in various menu items were trying to decide what they'd like to have. The location was very small until we discovered the second room connected with more seating. It makes me wish they'd remove the seating my the register then because it was very tight and difficult to navigate while there were lots of people waiting for drinks and no space. All I had was an iced americano, so I can't speak too much about their specialty drinks. The coffee itself was good, and had nice flavor, but was a little more acidic than I normally enjoy. The only reason I took away a star was because of the layout of the cafe. It has a bar like setting, so when you're waiting for your coffee it's awkward standing next to booths that are occupied. However, the biggest downside is that it's not accessible at all for people in wheelchairs or with limited mobility -- the only way in is through very narrow stairs. The staff were very nice and accommodating, especially considering this espresso machine had a once-in-a-lifetime repair just as we came in so we had to wait a while for espresso drinks. This coffee shop is located very close to the Gastown steam clock. I'm only rating it a 4/5 just because I didn't get to try their coffee and pastries as I only went here to grab some beans. They do have an impressive display of baked goods though. What piqued my interest to enter in the first place is their wall of curated coffee beans that turned out to be sourced from all over the world--from Japan, Korea, Europe, and even local Canadian ones. The Espresso Tasting Flight comes with two types of espresso, each as a shot and then with milk. I didn't catch the names of the espresso for today, but one of them was EXTREMELY bitter it sent chills down my back LOL. The other was more mellow and I was able to enjoy the flavor. The latte was also tasty with a strong coffee flavor that was complex but not overly bitter. Honestly the VIBE is immaculate. There's plenty of seating both in the main cafe and next door. It was two type of coffee prepared as a shot and a second with whole milk, so 4 total. I picked up a Honey Donut for the first time and man... paired so well. Yet, there are no open mic night advertisements on the windows, slam poetry pieces pasted on the wall, or dirty, tin ashtrays sitting next to bean bags. But, yet, this place is groovy. The pounds of beans come from what seems to be all four corners of the earth. Grab a bag or two. Walk it home and enjoy a conversation together. Better yet, let impatience be your guide and order in, watch them make you a single cup. Then add the typical toppings to it, as if it were a liquid pizza. It's fun. It's a bit unique.
