Every time I walk into Revolver, my blood pressure lowers instantly. There's magic mix of languid music, coffee smells, and foliage (sit window-side and admire the trees). I'm a sucker for a good multi-roaster cafe, and Revolver is a fantastic one. They serve up beans from all over, and they do it right, thanks to staff with eyes (and noses) for detail. Barista Soho and I chatted about NYC[1], and he told me La Cabra has a bakery there[2]. Savored a lovely pourover from Toronto[3], served hot. That very same day, I returned and had a decaf espresso that slapped[4]. Ample seating. A fair bit of natural light somehow makes it into the shop. Good for a date, coworking (especially in their next door "Archive" space), catching up with friends AND discovering coffee from around the world. Find this shop in Gastown, a short walk from the SeaBus station. [1] Yes, his name was Soho. Not SoHo. [2] Saved for my next trip to the East Village. This is my kind of coffee shop, especially when visiting a brand new city in search of the local coffee scene. Revolver is what I'd consider a multi-roaster shop with a focus on the coffee first. The bar is made up of high quality small batch grinders, perfect for grinding fresh for each cup, and a long line of pour over setups to give each cup the attention it deserves. Behind the bar you can see an Aiden by Fellows for quick batch brewing quality beans to the standards of the specialty coffee association or quick recipe testing. The menu is predominantly descriptions of the coffees they're currently brewing with a few classic and simple coffee preparations like a latte and a cortado, but nothing too involved because they focus on the coffee itself. I really liked how they separated the coffees by flavor profile so you could key in on the type of beans and roast you prefer. They offered several natural, honey, and anerobic options, which made me happy. My friend isn't a coffee geek like I am, so it was fun to see which he gravitated to and enjoy that alongside my choice, which was totally opposite. The barista side of the shop is long and narrow, with the bar predominating, but there's a great sitting area right next door that I didn't even notice until we were leaving. Former 3rd wave barista here, so my espresso standards are unfortunately cooked. Revolver absolutely delivered. Everything was dialed in, the latte art was clean, service was fast, and the quality never dropped. The shop is small but the vibes are immaculate--modern, historic, and minimalist all at once. The long community table in the back is such a nice touch. Staff were super friendly and welcoming too. Would 100% be a regular if I didn't live in Florida. Instead I'm thousands of miles away reminiscing about this coffee like it was a lost love story. read more

I love that they have so many different flavours of coffee to choose from! I've tried 4 different espressos and they've all been unique and really good. Beautiful space in an old heritage building. Theres two rooms, so lots of seating to choose from. However, this place is crazy busy every time I've been here so you never know if you'll get a seat. Oh, and the staff are always super friendly and helpful! read more

While visiting I wanted a coffee so we found this place. Very cute shop and pretty spacious. There is a 2nd room so head over there. I didn't find our cashier super friendly. He just said this is all we have. The menu is small so not a lot of variety and truly just basic coffee drinks. I was hoping for a frufru drink I guess but there was none. My cousin was going to order a snack but I saw little bugs flying around so I said to pass. It made it less appealing. We ended up with a cappuccino and vanilla latte. Both were smooth and good. I thought the size was a little small but this was my first latte in Canada so their sizes could be different from what I'm used to. . Overall solid coffee drink though. read more

By far my favorite coffee shop in Vancouver! Their cappuccino was incredible and so were the flaky and buttery croissants. It's a great place to hang out and catch up with friends, but the music is pretty loud. Great for the atmosphere but not ideal if you're planning to take a work call or need a quiet place to focus. read more

I've had coffee all over the world, including Melbourne (where coffee is taken very seriously). This is the best coffee shop I've ever been to. The taste of their pour over coffee is extraordinary, & I could still taste flavor notes in my oat milk latte, which is hard to do. Vibe is very unpretentious and welcoming. Solid coffee in a convenient location! It was easy to order with the knowledgeable baristas. My iced americano was delicious and didn't take too long to be ready. One thing to note is that I came during a summer day and it was extremely hot in the shop as if they didn't have any AC on. I can't imagine being able to study or work in that hot coffee shop, but there were definitely a lot of people doing so. I recommend grabbing coffee here if you're in Gastown! Definitely will be back to try the pour overs. read more

Kind service, cozy cafe, and best of all - excellent espresso. I came upon opening and tried two shots in the form of an espresso flight; both were already dialed in. If they weren't, then they've fooled me. I preferred the straight espresso to the macchiato in the flight, because the notes in the coffee are covered by milk - but it was worth a try to explore this cafe for the first time. Great staff and awesome experience with a few rotating beans. The baristas are professional and skilled at making delicious drinks! Only thing that could be improved is the ambiance and experience inside the cafe - there were a lot of people on a Saturday, and the service was understandably lacking due to the volume. Northwest coffee culture is real. Came in to Revolver mid day on a Saturday, small wait but completely worth it. The chocolate croissant went perfect with my hot chocolate! The service was served with a smile and a quick chat, since there was a line almost out the door. The old rustic brick building with nails in the wall shaped as Earth's continents was an art form! I think I had my best cup of macchiato here :) They have some pastries if you go early enough and they were not bad. Clearly a spot that has quality coffee and great options. The staff was friendly although not super helpful when the group in front of me who were clearly not well versed in various menu items were trying to decide what they'd like to have. The location was very small until we discovered the second room connected with more seating. It makes me wish they'd remove the seating my the register then because it was very tight and difficult to navigate while there were lots of people waiting for drinks and no space. Coffee was delicious though; they know what they're doing on that front! read more

Revolver knows what they're doing! I left happy and upset. Happy because good coffee makes me so happy and this latte was one of the smoothest lattes I have ever had. The vanilla was very fragrant. The drinking experience was also fantastic -- great cup lid! Upset because for some reason coffee does not taste this good back home in the states! Walking into the door you see bags of coffee from some of the best the world has to offer, so you immediately know this is a good place if you're a coffee snob, like moi. They brew pour overs with the NextLevel Pulsar--a great coffee gadget for 1% of the esoteric nerds out there. Finally tried Revolver after all these time. Place was pretty busy even during odd hours, which I think speaks about their reputation. I think if you don't want the crowd, place can be good to just chill or do some study/work. Service was fast and prompt for my cappuccino but I think I am just not a fan of their espresso blend. I could see they have very interesting option for pour over though so will be back to try those. read more

All I had was an iced americano, so I can't speak too much about their specialty drinks. The coffee itself was good, and had nice flavor, but was a little more acidic than I normally enjoy. The only reason I took away a star was because of the layout of the cafe. It has a bar like setting, so when you're waiting for your coffee it's awkward standing next to booths that are occupied. Otherwise the staff was friendly and I enjoyed my coffee! I would be excited to try a latte next time. read more

Really flavorful coffee. Such a sweet find in the city. They offer exceptional coffee-- drip, espresso, pour-over... and even flights. I tried their espresso-latte flight and it was a great way to sample the different aroma notes in the beans. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They also offer wifi and have an abundance of seating in the coffee shop which makes it a great place to do some work. It was my first time in Vancouver and I needed to access the internet-- I realized not many coffee spots offer wifi over here. Overall, it was the best coffee experience I've had in a long time. The coffee here was delightfully rich in flavour. I usually go for low-acidity options, but even the dark roast, despite its noticeable acidity, was quite enjoyable. We arrived just as they were opening, so coffee was the only thing on the menu - not that I'm complaining. The place has a nice, relaxed vibe, perfect for easing into the day. Great coffee. Went 4 days in a row. Had the espresso flight, drip and a few different pour overs (Luna was my fav) and all were great. Very strong. Good pastries but they typically don't arrive until 8am. Friendly staff. Highly recommend, especially if you're in the Gastown area. read more

Revolver was AMAZING. A speciality coffee lover's heaven. The staff were very nice and accommodating, especially considering this espresso machine had a once-in-a-lifetime repair just as we came in so we had to wait a while for espresso drinks. I love the variety of coffees, the pour overs were super tasty, and the espresso flight was fun to try. The pastries were actually very good too. While sipping on our pour overs it was fun to watch the bustling of the bar and appreciate the attention to detail in the space. I cannot wait to go to here again. read more

We ordered the following: Tiramisu Latte Caprese Bite London Fog Apple Cookie Cherry Matcha Tonic Tiramisu Sea Salt Caramel Gelato The Cherry Matcha Tonic was pretty but wasn't too crazy about the flavor. I should have just gone with my original gut instinct and chosen a hot beverage like Hojicha Latte or something like that. I was sort of thirsting for something cooler for a change though, and the Cherry Matcha Tonic was the first "cool" drink that caught my eye so I decided to go for it. Won't do that again. Everything else was good though. The Sea Salt Caramel Gelato was the star of the show! In the store there's a sign beneath their gelato section that says "Canadian Gelato Champion". I believe it after tasting the Sea Salt Caramel! They had Nama Chocolates too. I was tempted to get some but...only so much a person's wallet and waistline can handle at one time. Will try the Nama Chocolate some other time. You can order in person here, or you can place an "Express" order at the Kiosk. We tried both ways of ordering. Ordered at the counter first and then after finished my Cherry Matcha Tonic decided I wanted to try the Sea Salt Gelato so then tried ordering that from the Kiosk. Most of the parking in this area is paid but I lucked out and got a free spot right around the corner from this place!

I could tell even from outside that it's a popular work and study type of coffee shop with your free wifi and outlets. I hope this post doesn't give it away and make it way too crowded for me to find a seat next time. There's a steady flow of people visiting the stores while I was there on a weekday between late afternoon and early evening but there's always extra seat for anyone new looking for a desk to work or chat with friends. A few could be better are the pricing and temperature. They offer free oat milk substitute and -$0.35 for bringing your own cup but no more employee discount. And it was so cold in there, I could see a lot of people kept their winter jackets on, I don't think it's a heating issue but the constant windy seems to suggest the AC is on rather than the heater, oh wells Im out of there now. For that reason, unless I'm bundled up, it'll be a hard sale to be back again! I got a hojicha latte and it as pretty good, perfect sweetness and temperature for my cold with no ice. The barista was super great to work with.

Both were delicious - the matcha latte with oat milk was extra creamy, and it was clear the matcha was high-quality. One of my favorite matcha drinks, ever! I also ordered a cowdog cookie, which I devoured before being able to take a photo of it - it was delicious and had great texture! Service was friendly, although the cafe is a bit small on the inside. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in town!

Knowing how good 49th Parallel is with coffee I thought I'd try their version of the London Fog. I wasn't disappointed. In fact it was best London Fog I've ever had. I've had them at other places but I've never seen a preparation like 49th. They use loose leaf Earl Gray tea in a tall paper tea bag. They put the bag in your cup pour the steamed milk in and the tea steeps right into the milk. It's the smoothest London Fog I've had and isn't cloyingly sweet like many I've had.

And they were delicious . Each items were the size of my my palm. The cafe is located near the public library on Robson Street in downtown with access through public transportation. The cafe itself was charming and welcoming with plenty of space to site with friends and co-workers or just by yourself if you need to work on some projects or just read a book.

We pick up as they don't deliver. Their fried chicken is Fritou and they originate from Quebec in the late 90's. Duffin's is the only place that served Fritou fried chicken and they are really good. I always order the 3 pieces (1 wing, 1 drum & 1 thigh with fries or rice) for $9.39. You can ask for a mix of spicy or original but think the spicy is better and not too hot. I usually can't finish and take the rest home. Open 24 hours and considered the best deal in town for the portion of food you get. The decor is not fancy more like a hole-in-the-wall but that is what I love about it! They are here to impress you with the food and not the decor. The colourful orange and green bench seatings were originally from their shop on Main and 33rd so I love seeing them as it's reminded me of their good old days when you see motorcycles mixed with Mercedes cars in their parking lot.

Our server suggested that, because it was happy hour, a pitcher would be cheaper and save us money. I specifically asked how many ounces the pitcher was and was told 32 oz, which sounded reasonable since we planned to get 15 oz beers. When the pitcher arrived, it was clearly 64 oz. The server apologized for the mistake, and I let it go, thinking we didn't have to drink it all. However, when the bill arrived, the price didn't match the quote. We were charged $25, not the $20 we were originally told when the 64-oz pitcher showed up, with the explanation that the regular price was $35 and that we had "saved" money. In the end, we were served twice the beer we wanted and paid twice what we intended, based on information that kept changing. Whether this was incompetence or intentional, it left me feeling frustrated and uncomfortable. The food and atmosphere really were great -- but the experience was overshadowed by feeling manipulated. Enjoy the food and beer, but pay close attention to what the wait staff tells you and what ends up on the bill.

Service was standard, nothing memorable one way or the other. I ordered the warm lobster roll and a prawn cocktail. Unfortunately, the lobster roll was a letdown. It wasn't very warm, the lobster itself didn't have much flavor, tasted off and the whole sandwich was just kind of dry. Thank goodness I also ordered the prawn cocktail because it saved the meal. It wasn't anything fancy, but the prawns were a good size and gave me something I actually halfway enjoyed. Overall, I didn't have the experience I was looking forward to.
