I still remember when they first opened ages ago, before expanding to other locations such as this one. They were a hit. But in today's market, this place is at best, average. Today I had their popular Porchetta sandwich at peak lunch hour. Bread was fine, served warm. Porchetta portion was small, the crackling was chewy in some parts, and the sandwich was just dry. The sandwich isnt huge, but for a lunch its fine. But for $14, I expect much better quality. You can get a solid lunch in many places for $14 and its a lot more than just 1 mediocre medium sized sandwich. For peak lunch hour, the place was quiet, but clean. Not many customers, which is indicative of the quality of their products. There are several other restaurants in the area that are way more packed at the same time. Its on W Broadway at Willow. Parking around here is tough. There is street metered parking in the surrounding neighborhood but its always full. There are some paid lots nearby. People working in the store were nice at least. I do not recommend coming here. Unless the food gets a lot better with more value, or prices go down, its just not worth it. read more

stopped at Meat & Bread for lunch at the Mt. Pleasant location, they don't have a lot of dine in space there. I got a meatball sandwich to go, the sandwich was for $13 but I think it was worth the price because the sandwich was stuffed with meatball! Giving it 4-star because as good as the marinara sauce was, it made the sandwich soggy. They only have 4 sandwiches and 2 other items on their menu but they look good. I'm so confused on the low reviews since this has been our regular stop either when heading into Canada or when leaving. There used to be meat & bread locations close to home in Seattle but unfortunately they closed during the pandemic so the only way now to get our meat & bread fix is to cross the border. This location is clean with comfortable seating and appreciate that it has a bathroom as well. They are always so friendly behind the counter and love their meatball and porchetta sandwiches. The only difficultly with this location is parking can be a challenge but looking forward to our return visits. read more

I went right when it opened and there was no wait and the service was very fast. I loved how quaint this place is. I would definitely recommend this sandwich to others. There was plenty of pork and the texture of the bread was great. The mustard on the side paired very well with it. I saw that they also sold other sauces and I would love to come back and try it one day. read more

I have been to the original location many times. I am so glad they opened this one as it's much closer to home for me and a little bit easier to park. So the sandwiches are amazing but if you're coming here, for me, it has to be the porchetta sandwich. OMG what a treat. Pork loin wrapped with pork belly with a garlic and parsley filling slow roasted to perfection. The crispy cracklings take this already awesome sandwich new levels. Add a little salsa verde/chimichurri for a little much need acidity and you have a hit. Dip it in the house mustard just before you take a bite and you will have lift-off. Don't take my word for it. I think the amount of meat they serve at this location is a little on the low side compared to others. Just a tiny bit less porchetta. What I ordered: Porchetta ($10.50) and Potato Leek soup ($4). Food: I went in this place with a bit of skepticism. I was sort of thinking to myself, "How good could this place's sandwiches be?" I've had the chicken sandwich from Tractor foods and I'd say that sandwich is pretty hard to beat. After looking at what other Yelpers had ordered, I decided on the Porchetta (seemed like a safe and popular option). In pictures, it appears a lot bigger than it actually is in person, so I thought I might be hungry still afterwards. Oh, how I was wrong. The pork was moist, super well-seasoned. The pesto type sauce really brought it all together. I was definitely pleasantly surprised. Such a simple sandwich, and yet so delicious. Dipping the sandwich in the mustard that they give you on the side really changes up the flavour palette. On the other hand, the potato leek soup (I think they change up their soups on the daily) is something I'd skip out on. It came with a layer of oil on top (a little terrifying to look at), but was overall quite salty. Location: this is their newest location and so far, it doesn't get super busy at all. Tried the meatball sandwich, and it was pretty good. The bread was soft, so it was easier to eat than I thought. With the tomato sauce in between the bread, it wasn't too dry either. They have this chocolate coffee drink in a carton, it was alright, coffee taste was a lot stronger than chocolate. read more

New Meat and Bread location must have opened recently, and they handed out $5 discount cards to folks in the neighborhood. The card says nothing except "$5 off any sandwich." I order their $14 Turducken special, and make my way to the cash register to pay and present the card. The following conversation ensues: "We don't accept this for our feature sandwiches." "It does say ANY sandwich." "Yeah, but it doesn't apply to this one because it's a seasonal feature only (or something to that effect)." "Does this coupon expire?" "Nope, never." "So in the future, what sandwiches can I order with this card?" "Any of our regulars, except the one that replaces the porchetta, or the feature." "Well then that's what it should say on the card (how am I supposed to figure any of that out?)." "I will bring that up." What you can also do in the future is eat the $5 loss and honour your coupon: then you might have had a repeat customer. Instead, that's the last penny you're ever going to get from me. I wouldn't have ordered this $14 sandwich if not for the coupon. Of course, I should have walked out right there, as no attempt at an apology was made, and the guy's overall attitude was for me to take my sandwich and leave. Long story short, meat was cold, portion was small, the cost too high, and the customer service was poor. Been there before. Food is pretty decent, but they are impossible to contact. My gf picked up a sandwich for me and forgot to ask if it had nuts (it looked like it had pesto which often has pine nuts). There is no phone number listed in Google so I tried calling another location I found a phone number for - no answer and their voicemail box was full. Meat and Bread are the best sandwich shop in this city, hands down. It's great to see they have opened more locations, especially this one near the hospital campus which used to be a bit of "food desert". Fresh bread, freshly prepared porchetta and meatballs, and quality ingredients. You will leave licking your lips with a full belly. read more

But seriously the loudest, most obnoxious rap music including grossly inappropriate lyrics you can imagine for such a small space. What are they thinking??
