Shawarma palace is our favorite donair place! This is a must for us whenever we go to Riverport for movies, or this is the reason we go there for movies! The first time we went there, we weren't as familiar with Donair items, so we ordered the chicken shawarma platter. We were blown away by how generous their portions were, the worker kept pouring the meat onto the box along with everything else (we really thought the box wasn't able to close!). Then as we come back more often, we tried out their other items, their lamb is now our favorite. The seasonings they put into their lamb is different than ones like Donair Dude, it is much more unique. Their platter's sides are just unbeatable, garlic potatoes, hummus, salad, and pickled goods! Every time my girlfriend and I go there, we only order one platter to share, and we still can't finish it! Regardless which worker is serving you theyll all treat you generously, must try! read more

The place has great food and I eat there often. The chicken is moist and good portioning. The restaurant is always clean which is nice. The service is normally amazing but today there was younger male working today with a lot of attitude and very rude. This is the only downfall of the place. read more

I wasn't planning on writing a review initially as the food didn't look too picturesque. The picture you see is, therefore, just a quick snap that I sent to my bro. However, I was so disappointed at my dinner that I just had to write a review. We ordered three items, which totalled $30 something. 1. Tabbouleh - small: This was such a tiny portion for the price ($7.5). But dang! It was so dang salty!!!!!! It was supposed to be a salad! I couldn't even eat it on its own. I had to add it to my sharwarma manually so that each bite of sharwarma had tabbouleh included. In addition, the tabbouleh was sooo "wet" that the veggies were basically just sitting in liquid. 2. Lamb platter - only the garlic potatoes, very garlicky, were more edible. The lamb and the salad were so salty! Who actually make salads so salty???? 3. Chicken shawarma - this one was actually the tastier one out of everything. However, it was drenched in sauce and it made the entire wrapper wet. We also had to scrape off the extra sauce. It was ok on its own; however, we had to add tabbouleh to it (otherwise, we couldn't eat it) and it made the sharwarma so salty. I've been to sharwarma palace a couple of times in the past and I don't recall it being this bad (wouldn't have gone back if it was). I used to love the chicken shawarma here, but hadn't been in a couple of years. Had it tonight and it was hands down the worst I've ever had. The pita smelled like mould. I couldn't tell if the smell was coming from the pita or the paper it was wrapped in as they both stunk. The chicken, which used to be all grilled and full of flavour, was neither of those. No browned bits, no signs of seasoning, just bits of pale sliced chicken that might have even been a tad undercooked. Even the sauces had almost no taste. I actually had to go taste something else to make sure my tastebuds weren't out of whack! I saved the chicken for my dog and threw the rest out. I don't know if they changed hands since I was last here but I won't be back. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant and recommending them for years now. They just catered my family's 30-person event yesterday, and they didn't disappoint! Despite ambiguities in the platter menu and some minor communication difficulties, they were extremely patient with clarifying the menu and making recommendations. In fact, the staff skipped their lunch to make sure everything was ready for the 5pm pickup. We all really appreciated the effort and thoughtfulness! A few people in my family (also regulars) noticed that the garlic sauce was less garlic-y, but that didn't take away from the huge variety of ingredients and flavours you get with the food and sauces, whether you're ordering a meal for one person or a platter for various families. read more

My mouth is stinging from their hit sauce still! My wife and I ordered the Falafel Platter and the Palace Poutin. This is my first poutin experience and I can tell how amazing it'd be to have this after a few brews on a cold night. Satisfying chicken was not dry and the cheese was very melty. Satisfying! The falafel platter was very tasty. No white sauce on the falafel plate (for the vegan) but I had them add peppers. He voluntarily added extra hummus over the Falafel. A nice touch. They made everything fresh when I ordered. The three gents there were all very friendly and helpful. Their baklava was huge and looked delicious. Would revisit and recommend. read more

It's been awhile since I posted here about one of our favourite places to dine during lunch. A lot of co-workers are regular customers and I've been back a number of times (incognito). Staff has changed a bit, service is still good. I think in some ways even better. Almost as good as when they first opened up! Catering. But I'm not here for myself, I'm here for a group of us who really liked having them cater the food for our last office event. I was quite happy that our coordinator selected them and thus we were able to expose this type of food to more eager eaters. Overall the food was quite good. I think that if you went to the restaurant and ordered your own dish, it would still be better because it's made fresh on the spot. Having a selection of items catered means a broader assortment to appease the unique tastebuds of a larger group. Yes, that can be a challenge, especially for the nitty picky people and we do have a few of those!!!. Would I cater with them again? You Betcha buddy! Besides, you can't eat Pizza all the time at company functions. That's just "blah-zay" Get some zest and zing in your meal and add extra hummus and garlic sauce baby. I could even go so far as to suggest, if you haven't tried here, drop and and give it a try. Especially if you like lamb. Vegetarian options are aplenty here too. read more

Delicious food! My 7 year old son loves the lamb donair and gets a platter to himself. The Family Platter for 4 is a great deal on Sundays, and it feeds my family of 3 for 2-3 meals. I love the garlic sauce as well, and use it for everything. Highly recommend!! read more

Shawarma Palace, a Lebanese fast food joint, is one of the rare eateries in Richmond outside of Chinese restaurants and cafes that I find worthy of revisiting. There are numerous restaurants within a 1km radius of No. 5/Steveson, enough for a solid 2 week lunch rotation, but none of the places stand out in terms of value or food quality. Considering the miserable alternatives in the area such as Taco Del Mar (microwaved fish taco), Pho 37 (one plate of sprouts given per 4 bowls of pho, no flavor broth), Kisha Poppo (stale sushi), my first visit to Shawarma Palace was by process of elimination but actually turned out to be a fortuitous trip. Although this eatery obviously specializes in chicken and beef shawarma, which are cooked on vertical broilers, I was craving something else - the shish kufta. At first I was alarmed when the server hesitated at my request and had to go back to the kitchen to ask some questions. Turns out kufta was not a common order, so the chef had to prepare it from scratch. The food was grilled to order right behind the counter, so it took over 15 minutes for me to receive my lunch. All the vegetarian sides were premade and organized behind a salad bar counter (Subway or Chipotle style). My plate came loaded with 2 kufta skewers each chopped in half, a dollop of hummus, rice pilaf, fattoush, and a generous portion of crispy Lebanese potatoes smothered in thick garlic sauce. Several items in the plate were exceptionally tasty, particularly the kufta skewer. What made this skewer stand out to me was the balanced flavors of parsley, garlic, and mint blended into the meat. Then, the garlic sauce accentuated the overall taste. My second favorite item was the Lebanese potatoes, it had perfect crispy texture and a little bit of lemon flavor infused into it. The hummus was more spicy than the usual, which I did not mind, but it did have somewhat of a watery consistency. On the other hand, the fattoush with olive dressing was ordinary and the rice pilaf was definitely the most disappointing element in the meal. The pilaf was not moist, unlike other Turkish and Lebanese pilafs I've eaten before. I found its flavor to be plain, flat, and boring. Overall, this stellar street food combo plate was no doubt worth the $12 spent. Solid flavors, big portions, reasonable price. I entered with a starving stomach and left with a food coma. The kufta plate can easily be split between two people for lunch. I will be back to try their shawarma the next time I am in town! read more

I'm pretty disappointed given the positive reviews from others here. I was excited to finally have a shawarma place in Richmond, but was so let down by this place. I was almost wondering if I was in the right restaurant, because of those reviews. I had the chicken shawarma platter, which was $12.49. Price is about what I'd expect from other places I've been to, if not a little bit higher ($10-11 is the norm, in my experience). It came with fried potatoes, hummus, rice and choice of salad - except I wasn't given a choice of salad (the guy gave me regular salad. I actually wanted tabouleh, but wasn't that picky so I went along with it). The chicken was DRY with the consistency of cardboard. No amount of sauce would have been enough to rehydrate this chicken. On the bright side, my dog would have thought it was delicious - but he's been known to eat cat poo so I question his tastes. Normally, most places give you a pita to dip in your hummus. Not here though, which was strange seeing as pitas are usually the cheapest part of the meal. I ordered a pop, which was $1.50 for a small cup. I wasn't sure if there were refills, but didn't bother asking. I probably should have because my mouth was so dry from the almost-chicken-jerky. One last thing - and it may not be important for some, but I definitely take notice. When you're the only one eating in a restaurant, I notice whether or not the staff thank you for eating there. Sort of an "we appreciate your business" gesture. No luck on this front either, oh well. I'll just have to visit Best Falafel (on Commercial) more often for my Shawarma fix. read more

And since I'm a huge fan of Iron Man, I went to try the shawarma joint about two blocks from my work. And it was GOOD! The beef shawarma is so good! Jam packed with meaty goodness it's for sure to fill your belly up. And the yogurt and hummus, unbelievable. Do you know what's even better than 'so good'? The lamb donair. Came here after the gym one night to grab dinner. Had always past by this place and wondered if it was any good and with the trusty Yelp app, plenty of good responses from this place. I was also craving shawarma that day since I hadn't ate it in a long time. I ordered the chicken platter since instead of the wrap since I was so hungry lol. The chicken platter was loaded with rice, salad, potatoes and chicken. I got all the condiments they usually add into the platter (except turnips). First couple bites in the the platter, everything tasted so good!! The rice with the chicken and sauce was very tasty. The rice really soaks up the sauce from the chicken, the potatoes with the hummus was delicious. The seasoning of the potatoes were very good, not dry what so ever. The salad was also pretty tasty as well. Very good chicken platter, everything was delicious. I wish I could give it full 5 stars but it seems that they are always out of something when I go.. ( went one time before) and they ran out of chicken, and beef and only had lamb. Was excited to try for the first time. Now I feel like it was one time too many! Chicken was super salty and very dry. Other place I've been cut the meat fresh of the stick but not here. The price at $13.00 was about $3.00 more than other places I've tried. If you can get over the dry salty chicken you will likely be disappointed by the tiny portion of meat they give you! I paid an extra $3.00 just to bring it up to a normal portion size. I told who I think was the owner or manager but his response was to tell me to stick with the other places! The amount of meat they put into the wraps could be a bit better but I think everyone is new and trying to find their rhythm so I will upgrade this review to 5 stars after a few more weeks as I'm confident they will improve portions. I grew up in the Middle East, so I have very high standards when it comes to authentic shawarmas. That said, these shawarmas are pretty damn good (although not exactly like the ones you would get in Dubai). Most shawarma/donair/gyro places in Vancouver seem to operate under the mistaken assumption that a shawarma is just a middle eastern burrito. They basically stuff the pita bread with as many meat and veggies as it can hold, and the final product looks like an overstuffed duffel bag that's about to burst at the seams. Take one wrong bite, and your shawarma could explode in your face, leaving a messy trail of meat and veggies in its wake. Not so with Shawarma Palace's shawarmas. We ordered four shawarma wraps (two chicken, two lamb). Each "small" wrap cost $6.30, and was much larger than expected. The shawarmas were generously stuffed with a decent amazing amount of meat and veggies (although I could have gone for a little more meat). The chicken was delicious, but most places don't seem to have a problem cooking chicken. It's the lamb you have to watch out for. I've had my fair share of dry, flavourless lamb shawarmas in Vancouver, but Shawarma Palace's lamb was tender and moist. The two men behind the counter were efficient and courteous. We especially appreciated the care with which our shawarmas were prepared (they weren't just throwing in things haphazardly, but taking pains to make each shawarma properly). After the meat was shaved off the spit, the meat was heated a second time on a flame grill, which probably added to the over-all deliciousness of the meal. This restaurant is small, but new. All the tables and chairs were in pristine condition when we arrived at 9:00pm on a Friday night. Definitely give this place a chance if you're in the area. read more

Everything tastes bland, the chicken is fatty, the sauces are watered down and the garlic sauce had a terrible waxy texture. I wanted to love this place but will probably not be back. We had platters. Garlic sauce was excellent. Rice was well seasoned and delicious. Salad was very fresh and good. Tzatziki sauce was great. Hummus was very decent. Portions were very generous. Unfortunately, the meat (beef and chicken both) was dry, could be seasoned better or maybe could use a recipe that keeps the meat moist or keep them moist after pre-cut from the burner. Potato was a bit undercooked and dry. It's a new spot with a lot of potential. I will go back to try some shawarma. read more

This place is about two months old and that should have nothing to do with quality of their food. Outstanding, delicious Lebanese food. These guys care about their food preparation and the quality. They have three of these meat carousels that are rotating with stacks of delicious meatsicles. Give me these sticks of meat and I'd go to town. I was a little disappointed to be honest because I read the yelp reviews before going in. Maybe I'm biased since I've actually eaten Lebanese food in Beirut. First off, I ordered the small chicken shawarma which was about $7.. there was barely any chicken or vegetables (literally two tomato slices) so this was not worth the price to me. Second thing I ordered was the chicken shawarma platter, the potatoes were phenomenal as well as the garlic dip. The tabouleh tasted a little bit off I couldn't quite tell what it was. We're originally from Ottawa, moved here to Vancouver two years ago. We had been searching and trying shawarmas, however nothing tasted like back home till tonight. I did a Google search and Shawarma Palace came up and thought we would go check it out!!! Happy and excited to say we've found our place. If you are looking for an authentic Lebanese cuisine this is your place. Excellent food, friendly service and very clean. We ordered for a large staff lunch and one person was unable to eat due to the lack of diligence. Tried to call to rectify the situation and no one answers the phone during business hours.
