I'm so glad to see Basha here, in this part of metro vancouver. There's a dearth of middle eastern food in Metrotown area and having Basha right by the entrance of the mall (upper level where CIBC is, if only the bridge connecting to the skytrain is still in service), it is fairly convenient to get to. I love middle eastern food and this place hits the spot. I had the mix platter and the chicken was delightfully crispy on the edges. It was served with cubed potatoes too and they were fresh from the fryer and were so good! The portion was decent and I still had to pack half to go as I had a late lunch and was not super hungry. The baklava looked very good. My friend got dinged $4 for a bottle of coke. It was a sticker shock as there were no prices indicated anywhere for the drinks. Buyer beware. The place was busy but the turnover for the tables set up in front of the store was fast. Now I know to come here when the craving for middle eastern food strikes.

a plate of food with rice and meat

Decided to give Basha a try. Located at top level of Metrotown mall from the skytrain entrance. Went for their mixed Shawarma platter with beef and chicken. They carved the meat from the spit and grill it up before plating. On it own, I thought the meat was a bit dry. Need the hummus and garlic sauce the give it some flavor. Maybe I'll ask more white sauce next time. The portion size was decent.

I had the chicken plate, I've ordered it a couple times as there's no other shawarma place in metrotown or even around it. The chicken and rice are pretty good and the meat is fresh. Good amount of hummus/garlic sauce. The potatoes are more like baked rather than a classic lemon potato. The salad was bland and was just lettuce, white onions, couple strips of pickles and tomato. The place always seems to be busy with people sitting outside as it's the opposite side of the mall from the food court.

Middle Eastern Cuisines is one of the weakness of my tastebuds. One afternoon when I was strolling in the mall I saw this place but I dont have so much time then so I came back the following week. Friendly people in here,I got a platter with all the meat everything on it a soda and a piece of baklava dessert. Every thing were really unremarkable, price wise' good buy folks. From then on I always drop-by to get a to go and a baklava dessert. Small place but offers huge flavors. 2 thumbs up...highly recommended!

This is a fast food chain located on the top floor at Metrotown by the entrance near the bus loop. They prepare the food quickly with awesome proportions. I definitely love the quality of the food here & will definitely keep coming back!!

They serve other things here, like soy milk, congee, small bites like curry fish balls and soup, and the one thing they got going for them is that they take debit, which is pretty rare for any place in this food court. They give you one of those buzzing pagers after you order, and then it is just a waiting game. It does take a wait as they are preparing it fresh, so don't expect fast food here if you are in a rush. If you like piping hot food, you get it here, especially knowing they buzz you once your order is ready. I can't say they do anything real good, or real bad here, something was just missing as the dish of bbq pork rice roll my wife ordered was about $10 and just somehow didn't satisfy, the pork was a little too lean, and the rice roll mixture wasn't as silky smooth as we anticipated, but it still did fill us up. I would come back here if we needed this fix again, and maybe try their other things and hope to write a follow up review.

Ordering was fairly simple and listed like it is at Hong Kong cafes with number/letter codes like B2 and such. We got the minced beef rice roll and the corn and pork congee combo coming up to $14.50. The signage was clear on what items would be an extra uncharge. The rice roll was soft ( but not too soft with a good chew) and smooth, small amount of beef filling. There is a sauce station to the side of the cash area with soy sauces, chilli oil , and sesame sauce. With little plastic cups on the side. The congee was on the more watery side and looked plain but there was good depth of flavour in each bite. Decent amount of pork and corn. It was comforting. All in all, a decent quick meal for a food court. Perhaps the bar is set high for me with a place like Yin Ji Cheng Fan but this was close ! Prices are reasonable for the amount we got. An option to come back for sure.

Staff are friendly, They use the electronic buzzer system, so people don't need to stand in front. I tried the home special rice noodle soup. Basically a mini hot pot. Decent portion. Some hot pot bits such as fish tofu and meatballs, with green onions. Special mention to the deep fried fish skins on top. Tasty. I'd gladly go back for another fix at some point.

Iced Hong Kong milk tea. Tasted pretty watery and weak, missing that nice smooth rich taste. 2. French toast with salted egg yolk. The picture on the menu looked amazingly good; the salted egg yolk oozing out like lava. In reality, it's a badly pan seared French toast smothered in condensed milk with a dried up layer of salted egg yolk inside. It's like a dried up 100 year old cow, nothing is oozing out. 3. Intestine noodle soup. The intestines had that strong gamey smell and the soup was a bit bland. 4. Brisket and tendon rice noodle soup. The soup was hot, the tendons were tender, most part of the briskets were tender but a few were stringy. Over decent but definitely wasn't work the price. Overall, always an adventure to enjoy the lively atmosphere of the food court here especially during peak hours. I would say most of the uncles and aunties running the food stalls are pretty nice and friendly. Unfortunately, Nathan Road cafe here is nothing like cafes in actual Nathan Road in Hong Kong. (Really looking to travel to Asia again) I am off the road on this one for now...

Cha Don has only been opened in Henderson Mall for 2 weeks and the line is insane. (Even went back a month later and it's still ridiculous.) Most of the dishes are under $16 but some of the items are not available till after 11:30. That's includes the baked rice dish and spaghetti and the minced pork patty rice series. This will quicken up the long time for those breakfast goers but sucks if you're craving either of those. So the first time I had gone, there were lots of mistakes in orders and the long lines. There was also a sign in front of the cashier stating that they will only take CASH or E-TRANSFER...So be prepared! By the look at more recent reviews, it seems like they're still working out the kinks and the line is still 30-45 minutes. Maybe by this spring they'll figure it out? Just know there are lots of good options if you're not willing to wait.

Long lines at both the Yaohan and Henderson Mall locations speak to how popular it is, and the pricing sits in the affordable range for generous, full-meal plates rather than snack-sized portions. The overall value proposition is strong: you get real-deal HK café flavours without feeling like corners were cut. Dishes come out fast and hot, and the kitchen does not skimp on proteins--whether it's pork chops, chicken, or beef, plates feel properly loaded rather than padded with carbs. Despite the crowds, service is efficient and geared toward turnover, which suits the food court setting and keeps waits manageable once you've actually ordered. It's the kind of place where you grab your tray, sit, and eat rather than linger, but it delivers exactly what you come for. Given the combination of flavour, portion size, and price, Cha Don is an easy recommend for Hong Kong café fans looking for a quick, satisfying meal. The only real downside is the lineup; at peak times the queue can be enough to make you think twice. Still, if the line isn't too long, it's absolutely worth returning for another round.
