Doing good business on a Friday, but we had a reservation. Everyone gets their own stove and hot pot. You order the soup base and meat using the tablet at the table, while seafood, veggies, and noodles are out in a buffet section. There is also some dimsum like custard buns and eggs tart, along with a typical dipping sauce bar. The bone broth soup base and quality of the meat is pretty good. The seafood is not top notch, but decent enough for all you can eat. At the end of the meal, you can get some soft serve ice cream in a cone or cup. I like the ube and vanilla swirl cone. Dinner price is $53 before tax and tip per person. Not cheap, but cheaper than going to Dolar Shop or Haidilao, and you'll definitely leave full. read more

I had been to this ayce hotpot a couple of times previously but this was the first time i went with a big group. Due to limited number of bigger tables, i had to book 2 individual smaller tables. Staff were super friendly and accommodating to put our tables side by side. The selections might not be as many as other ayce places but i like the quality of the selections. We chose to have their new year special with wagyu beef and a few other special items. I also liked their tomato soup base too. Free two hours parking (remember to scan the QR code inside) Everything ordered was brought to us in a timely manner. When going to the self serve area, the selection of foods were kept full. Plenty of different types of seafood, vegetables, side dishes, fruit, desserts, dimsum etc. I recommend making a reservation. What kept this from being a 5-star review was when it came time to pay, They had a sign stating that cash or debit is preferred / appreciated. Use of credit card is fine but there is a 2% fee. I thought okay, fair. The sign on the table was clear. So I decided to pay with cash. What caught me off guard was when the waiter came to take my payment, he asked me, "how much change do you want back?" I found that rude. This place is AMAZING for hot pot. Holyyy moly. Visited a friend whose hometown is in Vancouver, where the Chinese food is supposedly better than even the Chinese food out in LA -- and after this (and touring the general area for a few days) I totally agree. This place is better than any hot pot/shabu place I've been to out in LA. I love that they do personal bowls, so everyone can choose their own soup base. They have so many options for veggies/sides. Meats are ordered a la carte but come out so fast. Everything is AYCE. They even have some dim sum staples out for your taking. And a very healthy selection of DIY sauces. I'd still prefer to go to Dolar Shop - their sister restaurant that is not AYCE. I think ChoCho and Dolar Shop have the best ice cream of all the hotpot places. Large spacious booths, good for large parties and/or kids. Super attentive and friendly staff. Why I'd Recommend: 1. The restaurant was extremely busy, which may have affected the overall experience. I've visited other Dolar Shop locations and found this one to be the least enjoyable so far. The food quality was comparable to the other locations, but the atmosphere felt more crowded... If you're not specifically looking for the AYCE experience, I would recommend visiting one of the other Dolar Shop locations instead. You'll get similar food quality, (probably) better service, a more comfortable dining experience (hopefully), and likely spend less money (or not). read more

Took mum here to try out the AYCE hot pot. I tried the Richmond location with friends, we enjoyed ourselves so I wanted to take mum. They offer a senior discount for those over 60, $39.99 before 4pm but for the rest of August they are running a promotion with the same senior discount up to 11pm. Today I tried the sukiyaki broth and it was nice and savory. The dim sum was ok, I tried a few items, but I was there for the hot pot. The fatty beef, Chuck eye roll and pork shoulder was all good. You get 2 hrs to eat, we filled ourselves up easily during this time. Mum had the pork bone broth, she said it was so so, she wished it had more flavor. The nice thing with the AYCE here was a pretty good mix of items you can get besides the meat. Not a huge selection but enough, fish slices, prawns, mussels, a few meat and fish balls, and spam! For us I am not sure if we can justify the regular price of $52.99 although the food quality is decent, we just don't eat that much anymore. For us we will be coming back for the late night special or senior specials. All in all we enjoyed the food here and the Matcha ice cream at the end was a nice touch. read more

Came here with my family on Canada Day. We arrived at 3:45pm and wasn't told about the lunch special until the end when I noticed the sign outside towards the end of the meal. I do prefer the Vancouver location over this, it just felt as though we weren't directed correctly when it came to the menu or where to get the food or how the drink menu worked. The girl that was our server just had no idea what was happening imo. Soup was good. However majority of the appetizers weren't ready to order and was told it'll be ready by 5:30pm. I've been here twice already and both times were great! It was easy to make a reservation with Yelp and the first time that we dined in, we called and they were able to seat us due to a canceled reservation. I like the late-night dining option since we're able to save $10 off the regular price. Parking is also free at the back of the store - 2 hrs. The staff was attentive and friendly from the moment we walked in and the whole time we were dining. Food is fresh from the Market Table and there is a wide variety of vegetables, seafood, noodles, etc. I was a bit bummed that they removed the all-you-can-drink option, but that leaves more room for me for the meats, haha. Love that they include a little dessert bar and also the ice cream at the end of the meal! Of course, they also have a sauce bar with the essentials. Great option when we want a variety of food for hot pot. Keep in mind, children over 50" will be priced the same as adults. So my two children who are 8 and 10 years old were charged as adults. Still, at $52.99 per person AYCE, it's a good price considering the variety of food available. You get 120 minutes to eat and can order meat, drinks, and add ons on the tablet. Everything else is self served. They also have a small selection of dim sum. Make reservations online, walk in can be 1-2+ hours wait. Parking is located in the back, and remember to scan the parking QR code inside the restaurant to validate 2 hours of parking. Oh, and they prefer cash or debit. The ambiance is nice and clean, and the service was attentive. We'll definitely be back. Chocho is a sister restaurant of Dolar Shop, but we prefer coming here. Chocho is the AYCE version of DolarShop. Pro tip: There is free parking at the back of the building and you get 2 hours by scanning and registering at the hostess stand. I like water and chips provided for those sitting in the waiting area but it pales in comparison to the DolarShop location in Lansdown where they have popcorn, chips, peanuts, candy, and etc. Prices have recently gone up to $52.99/person before 9pm from $49.99. Feel like still worth it compared to a la carte as you get soup base included and all the DolarShop favourites. Just wish they had a bigger sauce bar options and more fruits as it's small compared to both Station Square and Landsdown DolarShop locations. As well, it'd be AMAZING if the Wagyu or Banana pancake were also included. Food is fresh and you order the sliced meat on demand on the tablet. The dim sum was also pretty good but didn't try the deep fried foods or dessert as they didn't give us a warning (a 10 minute one would have been nice) for last call to get dessert. Look. I'd come up to Canada just to eat here again. Actually, I did after going my first time last month. Highly recommend making reservations. Both times, we were seated almost immediately as we made reservations. Parking is free - just make sure to scan the code inside and put in your license plate - you get two hours. Like, you go and get your own stuff for the most part, but they're so quick to bring you the meats (you order on the tablet) and quick to bring any refills and clean empty dishes. If you want that spicy broth, I highly recommend just doing the one whole spicy broth. It was much better for me the second time. The dim sum choices are but a few, but they're delicious. We came here after hearing good things about Dolar Shop. Upon arriving, there's a QR code to scan to help validate parking. We liked that we could order stuff on the tablet which made the process faster. The options of what to eat was pretty good. The sauce bar got kind of messy though and some of the spouts weren't the best choice for the sauce - one of the servers tried helping me with one of the sauces and it ended spraying all over my sweater - they gave me a Tide pen but I'm not sure it full worked. We saw that some other people were given aprons to wear but we weren't offered it ‍ The price is definitely a bit steep. Honestly I've heard so many things about dollar shop and chocho hot pot which is like a sister shop to dollar shop except chocho is AYCE. I swear I use to believe Southern California had the best hot pot in terms of ayce but god dam chocho could possibly be the best traditional Cantonese style hot pot I've had. Now of course we have Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House but that's on the more super high end price. The bone broth here really reminded me of homemade spare rib soup with a hint of goji berries, ginseng, typical Chinese spices etc. It had such a clean irony free taste to it and there was even bits of spare ribs in the soup. In the states the broths are normally loaded with MSG, salt, or some type of chicken bouillon. The service here was quick AF.. typically I'm use to ordering through a server but everything here is on the Apple iPad. You can literally order as much as you want whenever you want which made it super convenient. Of course you get charged for left overs but that's why you pace yourselves! In the states it's typically 4-6 orders at a time with a 2 hour limit and you have to constantly flag down servers to put your meat orders in. I was really shocked seeing a whole ass sliced ribeye since I'm use to the states portions being so small since it's AYCE. I swear my belly was going to explode and I didn't even eat all day because your boy trying to make it worth it nah sayin? The vegetable and buffet bar was pretty sweet, it's your typical Chinese hot pot veggies bok choy, crown daisy, spinach, etc.. The dessert bar was pretty awesome.. they had osmanthus sugar syrup, pocky, taro rice balls, tapioca coconut milk, variety of fruits, grass jelly variety, soft serve ice cream(you have to ask for it). Finally had a chance to try this place. This place is crazy popular. As of the time of writing, I was told there is still a 2 week(!) waitlist. Parking is available in the lot beneath the building. Scan the QR code and enter your plate information for 2h of free parking. Unfortunately this assumes that one will get a table immediately upon entering the restaurant. Personally I would recommend delaying the scan until one gets a table. The place is modern. Nice bright lighting, and shiny ventilation equipment. Staff are friend and professional. Meat slices are ordered via menu and brought over by staff. For the other stuff (seafood, rice, dessert, fruit, sauce etc.) there is a crowded food station area. Grab a few plates and load up. The hot pot can be either 1 or 2 soups. Pots are individual, and are cooked via induction. My friends and I were too busy destroying ourselves to talk. The food here is fresh and delicious. Beautiful. Just be sure to watch that clock. The 2 hour limit comes quickly. Be sure to leave room for dessert at the end. They have a soft machine. Ice cream can be served in either cones or cups. There is also a station with candies as well as fruit slices. In terms of quality between the direct competition in the area, I would slot this place slightly below Marble House (Crystal Mall) but above Happy Lamb. Came in for their late night (9pm) AYCE. They were offering a menu of free drinks and I enjoyed my Hong Kong milk tea. I personally would skip the house made mocktails/sodas as there were too sweet. I disliked that there were bits of pieces of food in other food containers (contamination). And the dim sum was unfortunately a bit soggy from sitting in the steamer for so long. My true reason for liking AYCE hot pot buffet is that I am able to choose and only get one piece of many variety of veggies, fishballs, seafood, and noodles. No need to order a full platter. They are part of the Dolar Shop. Chocho is their premium all you can eat restaurant. Meats are ordered online on the tablet that they place on your table. We didn't go witht the premium meats, but, what they gave us was whether it was beef or pork was high quality. They have a buffet station for vegetables, seafood, fishballs, breads, and deep fried wontons. A sauce station with instructions for making your hot pot sauce is available. They had the most colorful noodles of any hot pot place that I've been to. They even had a dessert bar at another corner of the restaurant with fresh fruit, and ingredients to make a dessert panda ice jelly. Service was good all around from the hostess that heard my sob story to our waiter who kept bringing meats out to us. We liked it.
