Tasty Chinese (mostly Sichuan style) restaurant at the NW corner of Lougheed and Willingdon. Parking here is available but pretty horrendous outside of business hours. There are maybe 15 spots total for 4 separate food establishments. In addition, there are no free spots in the vicinity at all. For this reason, I have tried and failed to eat at this place for several years. Finally had a chance to try during lunchtime. The best option is probably to get here by transit. The place is decently sized. Staff are friendly. Can watch them crank away at the dumpling factory. Bit of entertainment when waiting for their food. The lunch special here is great value. Comes with soup too. The sichuan marbled pork & cabbage hit the spot. That tastyy Sichuan chili pepper taste. Beautiful. There is also an option for the thick (blade) noodles with no extra charge, which is a nice perk. The quantity was huge. I left stuffed and happy. I also looked at the neighbouring tables, and their non lunch items were also huge. Special mention. Definitely trying more of their food in their future. Just be mindful of their parking situation. read more

If you are looking for a great Chinese restaurant around Brentwood area? I usually order food from this restaurant, but I gave a shot to come today. Yeap... Grand Chinese is a small restaurant, you can see the chef cooking and preparing the food. The decor is cute. They have so many great food on their menu and you see so many people coming to this place for pick up. I ordered their lemon chicken, dumplings and spicy soup dumplings. They were amazing. Loved the flavour and the spices, they were so yummy. The service was great as well. read more

First time ordering takeout because we went once a long time ago and now I remember why we didn't return for many years. The food is subpar but the service is horrid. If you look on their website it shows the menu as well pricing for lunch specials. We decided to order 3 lunch specials which show $10.95 but the cashier screamed said they have many websites and were wrong. It should be $14 and tax. She tried charging $47, if I knew we would've went next door again. My husband told her and showed her the website and said that they should update the page and she was just angry saying wrong wrong no no and humiliated us. Thanks but no thanks. Unless you change your page with updated pricing and have more happier servers or employees instead of bitter panties tied up in a bunch style people, we won't return. Better food options at Neptune and wayyy higher quality and service or even down the road. read more

My bestie introduced me to this gem. We specifically came here for their $13.95 lunch special which included soup of the day. I didn't like the tomato egg swirl soup. We both ordered the beef chow fun and Xiaolongbao. Both dishes were tasty and the noodle dish was a big portion. Noodles weren't greasy. Great value! Service was decent. My bestie comes here regularly both for lunch & dinner. The best value is their lunch special. Service was great! Nice ambiance & clean. It's a challenge finding free parking out front as there are a limited spots. They're located in the mini shopping plaza next to Petro Canada gas station off Willingdon & Lougheed. Food: 7/10 Value: 10/10 Service: 10/10 I work in an office and can't take long breaks so I like coming here for lunch because the service is great, the food comes out fast and the portions are large. They offer a $10.95 lunch special Mon-Fri between 11am-3pm. All lunch specials are served with their daily soup. I usually get the curry beef brisket with rice and an order of xiao long bao. I would not recommend the Szechuan mapo tofu as I tried it today and it wasn't spicy at all. read more

I've been ordering takeout from Grand Chinese for the past few years! They are always so consistent when it comes to their quality, portions and flavours. You always get your moneys worth here, I always have leftovers for the next few days. My favourites are their chicken chow mein, fried rice (bbq or vegetable is good), sweet and sour pork, beef and broccolli and honey garlic spare ribs. Their soup portions are also really big and good value, I got a huge portion of chicken and corn soup for $10.95 that lasted me a few days. All in all, this place is great for Chinese takeout. I reccomend ordering ahead on their website! read more

Medium size restaurant, clean but somewhat dark, also hot inside not sure if they have A/C or what... Very good location, this site I simply called "My favorite block" 3 different kind of reataurants and the 4th one is a smothie haven..18 slots for car parking..that includes 2 alotyed for disabled, free parking but really busy. First I would like to commend the place for using a sanitizer that is not drying hands and smells awesome, not like others that aside from sticky they kill your nosetril from the pungent scent. Service is client oriented, however they missed one of my order and I am not happy. I got the house special chow mein It has seafoods, veggies, pork and chilli garlic sauce, this uses egg noodle the thick one which i really like. Spicy chow mein, veggies were half-cooked just the way i love it,generous amount of prawns, squid and bbq pork.somewhat sweet and spicy kinda flavor.. My appez was the spicy salted tofu,im almost halfway the main entree and theres no tofu coming...when I asked the server claimed i didnt order tofu...she is very nice though,i re ordered because tofu is my cravings,it took very short time. The tofu smells so good, crispy outside tender inside and the garlic and chopped green and red thai chillis really complimented the taste. Affordable yummy dishes and serving were generous. Kids friendly, good for small group and family. I actually never noticed if there's decors inside because its not well lighted, plus each table still aeperated with transparent thick kinda glasses for covid precaution and protocol..kitchen is half open so you can see crew preparing the foods.. they were all jolly and friendly but loud, their voices echod inside. Accept cash, debit and credit. I have to visit again coz i wanna try the chicken/beef curry mein. Again Kudos to the hand sanitizer.. next time I will ask what brand is that...really good.. read more

It's been a SUPER long time since we've ordered Chinese food, so we decided to try Grand Chinese Restaurant. Although they've been open for a few years now, this would be our first time ordering from here. We chose some of our favourite Chinese dishes: Beef & Broccoli, Honey Garlic Spareribs, spicy Salt & Pepper Squid (Fiancé's favourite), Stir Fried Flat Rice Noodle with Beef (my favourite), and Xiao Long Bao aka Shanghai Dumplings (both our favourites)! We loved everything. It was all so delicious! You must be thinking.. that is a lot of food for two people. No, we didn't finish it all in one sitting. It basically was our dinner that night, then lunch AND dinner the next day. So good! We will definitely be ordering again soon. read more

This is my new favourite Chinese restaurant. I love both the Vancouver and Burnaby locations. I originally found them in one of the delivery sites and recently discovered you can order delivery and prepay directly through the restaurant website. The food quality is consistently excellent. Fresh, delicious and high quality. Because I am vegan I often include instructions to modify my order and they ALWAYS get it right. One time I accidentally duplicated my order without knowing and instead of sending the same thing twice, they called to clarify. I love Chinese food and have eaten over the last 30 years from many restaurants. This is by far one of the best I have had. read more

We've been here a number of times. They have hand-rolled, homemade noodles in-house. It's nice to have a restaurant that makes decent Asian food in the neighborhood. We had the Xiao Long Bao and Beef Rolls to start. Also had the Shrimp & BBQ Five Grain Fried Rice which was a lunch special and it came with some Hot and Sour Soup. In addition we had the Spicy Salted Spareribs which is one our favorites. Delicious! More food than we can handle in one sitting but great for leftovers! Service was super fast as these days, not many people frequenting restaurants. More take-out than dine-in. Therefore parking is not bad right now. Decor - nothing to rave about. Food is highly recommended though! read more

The Grand Chinese Restaurant was a planned venue for lunch recently -- a first time experience for us. We (threesome) arrived just before the restaurant opened at 11 am, and were able to find parking near the restaurant's entrance door. The restaurant, with its dark colours, et al, was rather warm & cosy looking inside, and seemed much bigger than it looked like from its small footprint outside. The kitchen is off to one side, behind glass, so quite open for customers to see what's happening (and to catch some warm and nice smiles from the chefs doing their thing!). For us, the ambiance 'felt' comfortable. Service was friendly, and very attentive, ensuring our water glasses and tea mugs were kept full. What was ordered and shared: (names of dishes and descriptions of ingredients, as per menu listings) -- Garlic Pea Leaves (pea leaves lightly stir fried w/minced garlic) -- Salt & Pepper Squid (deep fried squid tossed in spiced salt & diced chilli pepper) -- Seafood Chow Mein (fried noodle w/prawns, sliced fish, squid & greens) -- Spicy Ginger Beef (crispy shredded beef tossed in a spicy gingery sauce). Presentations: good-sized servings, and dishes from kitchen to our table in a nice, timely sequence. Preparations: warm, and distinctly very flavourful, and tasty. Seasoning (spices, etc) was definitely, and distinctly apparent in all dishes, but at an about perfect 'medium' level for us, and not overly done in any dish ordered. The pea leaves were very lightly cooked, leaving them nice and fresh and crispy to the taste - the minced garlic added a nice flavour without overpowering the overall taste. Beef in the ginger beef was tender and chewy, the sauce pleasantly 'gingery' - a very well-prepared, flavourful, and tasty dish. The squid was tender and juicy, coatings light, seasonings spicy hot (picked out those little red & green guys for daughter!) - the dish about as perfect as one could expect. Ingredients in the chow mein were also very well-prepared - noodles perfect, seafoods and veggies, tender, and juicy - a flavourful and tasty dish. I picked the Grand Chinese Restaurant for primarily two reasons: "About Us" information included on their website (serving mostly Sichuan and Northern Chinese style cuisines) -- and the solid reviews it gets for its offerings. And what a great choice it turned out to be -- food was very tasty and well-prepared, and service attentive -- we thoroughly enjoyed our total dining experience! read more

I haven't had Chinese take out in so long. I've recently been cooking my own noodle soup lately. So, this is my first time getting Chinese food in maybe a year. I really miss authentic Chinese food and Grand hit the spot! I ordered the veggie eggplant and a bowl of rice. We also had some Shanghai noodles. Boy, oh boy! We were SO FULL. We even skipped dinner because our food was so heavy! I only ate maybe 1/4 of the order.. I have a lot of left over good to the next few days. It was nice that they didn't skimp out on our orders and really packed in food. I missed Chinese eggplants so much (I can't imitate it at home yet lol) that I think I'll order from Grand when I want Chinese food! Nice Staff. They're quick on cooking. Food is flavourful! I'll come again! read more

Very disappointed with the sweet and sour pork with pineapple and the spicy gingered beer tonight. This is our go-to place for take out Chinese food and usually order most of the same things and it's usually all very good. Drove by this place many times, but it was my first time visiting this place today. Really liked this place. Good food and reasonably priced... regret i didn't come to this place earlier ! The place offer a large selection, and its almost unreal, but they are able to do a great job on all the dishes we tried: lamb dumplings, cummin lamb chow mein, tomato beef on steamed rice. Most incredibly, the tomato beef steamed rice is super authentic, which is rare. We only spent $60 for food for four people! Will go back to this place again and again. Grand Chinese Restaurant (such a typical name for a Chinese restaurant) is a newish restaurant that opened up near Brentwood in a small strip mall. We stopped by on Christmas eve because we were in the neighbourhood and quite enjoyed the food here. The kitchen is open to to the diners and you can see them making their hand-pulled noodles behind a glass wall. The menu is similar to what you'd find at Peaceful and we wound up ordering the same type of dishes that we order when we go to Peaceful. By far, the best dish was their Xiao Long Bao ($7.95). It took a while for these to come out but they were really worth the wait. The skin was thin yet held together well and each dumpling was filled to the brim with soupy juice. I think this might make the list of one of my top 5 XLB locations now. By contrast, the Beef Rolls ($7.95) weren't at the same level. Although not bad, I found the pancake to be a bit too thick and it seemed like it was over-cooked a tad. It was a very filling dish (due to the pancake) but not something that we would order again. The House Special Chow Mein (13.95) was a bit spicy and had varying thickness of noodles due to being hand-pulled. They don't skimp on the toppings in this dish and there were large pieces of fish, squid, shrimp, and pork. I really quite enjoyed this dish. Definitely going to want to come back here to have more of their XLB and try their other dishes. read more

Ordered door dash. Hand pulled chow mein, yang chow fried rice. Both were tasty. Will order again.

Price: ~$15/ person Food: 7.5/10 Huge portions and affordable Service: 10/10 professional and super fast, the staff was incredibly friendly. Ordered: Xiao Long bao 8 pieces: $9.50 It like these tiny bombs of tangy flavour that explode satisfaction in your mouth. The soup was juicy and seasoning just enough, so there is no need to add soy sauce. Minus point is that the wrapper is a bit hard and the broth is cool. Sweet and sour boneless pork with pineapple: $15.95 Exactly the sweet and sour meat you've been waiting for with a pineapple combination. Pork is tender, soaked in sauce, medium sliced, not greasy, stir-fried with bell peppers and onions. The portion size was great. Should eat with hot rice. ( Must try) Shanghai-style chow mein: $14.95 The noodles are a ton, but the toppings are a bit less, only vegetables, the meat is cut very small. Tasting is nothing special and slightly salty. Lamp dumplings 10 pieces: $9.50 The meat of the lamb is handled very nicely, does not stink, the stuffing is marinated deeply, the shell is not dry. ( Must try ) Spicy Hot Ox Throat, Beef Tripes & Chilli Peppers: $19.95 The Throat, Beef Tripes is handled carefully, are not stink and chewy. Marinating is suitable for non-Chinese people because it is not too spicy. You can ask the chef to reduce the spiciness too. The stir-fry chilli makes the dish taste explosive. After eating, you will feel a little numb at the tip of your tongue, that can tolerate it. Eating with hot rice is even better. ( Must try ) In addition, when entering the shop is also served a cup of hot tea, you can also request ice, the staff will be happy to help you. read more

It's Friday lunch time. The six our us got here at the height of lunch rush. Ambience and decor: it is an open kitchen where you can see them making XLB's. There are 4 - six seater tables lined on one side and 6 - four seater tables spread around the rest of the restaurant. Customer service: the waitress marked down our seating and waited for 15 mins for the next 6 person table. The waitresses are quite nice for a Chinese restaurant. They mainly speak Cantonese, but can converse in Mandarin. Kitchen service: we ordered at 12:33pm and the food arrived at 12:43pm. Portion, price and taste: overall the dishes are good and portion and taste is not bad at all. The lunch specials are quite cheap. The XLB's skin is pretty thin and has enough juice; but the pork is a bit small but ok in flavour. Overall: we will likely come back again. read more

Went here for lunch with two friends on a Tuesday. There are 18 different dishes to choose from on the lunch menu. Each selection comes with a small bowl of soup. I ordered the Shanghai style chow mein. Portion size is generous and it's good value for the price; $8.95 + tax and tips for all lunch specials. The noodles were seasoned appropriately and the texture was pretty good. But they were sitting in too much liquid. Chow mein isn't suppose to be that watery. I tasted both of my friends' dishes. They ordered curry beef brisket with rice and spicy ginger beef with rice. Both were decent. This restaurant has enough seats to accommodate maybe 30 or so customers, but it wasn't too busy when I went for lunch. Service was good overall. read more

We have walked past the Grand Chinese Restaurant many times on our way to Rodney's and Tasty and didn't give it a try. I don't know if you're aware, but the Skip app has $10 lunches. I love this option, and when I saw Grand Chinese on the list, I ordered with no doubts. I work in the building next to this little plaza it's located in, so it's not my first time doing takeout here. Located just 1/2 block west of Lougheed station. This time I had the Five-grain Fried rice with Shrimp and BBQ Pork. I loved the pork, I wish there was more of that and less shrimp, the shrimp were only partially cleaned. Uncleaned shrimp is a small annoyance to me. So the dish was average, but the portion was large, I got two meals out of it. I am giving them a 4* because I have had nice friendly service each time I have gone in and also, their food is always good size portions. Not to mention, they have an organized pick up system, they have their tables labeled for pick up, Skip, and the other courier companies. Free parking, but sometimes full. You can always park in the public pay parking across at SoLo or free parking a block down under Madison Square mall. read more

A little gem in an unassuming strip mall. Despite being located at a major intersection I never thought to visit this place until recently. Surprisingly decent with fresh in house made noodles and dumplings similar to more commonly known restaurants such as Dinesty. The hand dragged noodles had a nice bounce to them and the xiaolongbao were nice and juicy (although the sticklers for xiaolongbao might complain about the slightly thicker skins). Overall a pleasant experience and I will definitely return. read more
