I wanted to try this place after I seen some of the pics of their food as it looked so appealing. Anyway we went there on a weekend for dinner and were seated immediately. Their noodles were good but the beef was awesome. Really good flavor. We also ordered for the bone-in chicken dish and they totally destroyed that. The chicken pieces were hard as rock. I'm not sure if they forgot how small these pieces were. On the plus side though the sauce was good. Overall not a very satisfying meal.

Chongqing was the venue chosen for our lunch recently. We (the usual threesome) arrived about 1 pm, and fortunately, were able to catch one of only two vacant spots available in the restaurant's small and busy parking lot. The restaurant - though rather small in size, provides a decent selection of both booth and various sized table seating arrangements, and was naturally-bright, clean, and tidy. I would call it "comfortably busy" when we arrived, still offering a good choice of seating - we chose a booth at back, alongside the inside wall (and thought it had a cozy and private 'feel' to it). Once tucked in place, our server was right there with a place setting needed, copies of lunch & regular menus, and soon after, at our request, with mugs of hot tea, and glasses of water. Service was pleasant and friendly, and helpful (as required) throughout our stay. We ordered solely from the 'Lunch Special' menu, and shared four of the listed 'C' dishes (priced @ $10.95 each) -- Lettuce Wrap, w/Duck -- Seafood Chow Mein, w/pan-fried (dry) noodle -- General Tso's Chicken & Rice -- Stir-fried Green Beans, Mushroom, w/Snap Peas & Rice. The hot tea supplied without extra charge. Service from kitchen to table was very timely, with all dishes arriving quite promptly, in generous portion sizes, warm, and looking good. Preparations were tasty and flavourful. Ingredients in each, quite plentiful, well-prepared, and distinctly-seasoned - veggies 'crispy' tender, noodles not overdone, chicken and seafoods moist and tender. All dishes were definitely seasoned quite 'spicy hot', but none overly so (a little close for comfort for me with the beans & such, but ok otherwise, and quite 'perfect' with all dishes for the ladies!). We enjoyed our dining experience and lunch tastes at Chongqing. We had been 'out & about' for quite some time (for us 'youngsters') that morning (w/shopping and an appointment), were ready for this lunch, and it did not disappoint.

Chongquing is a good idea on a cold day. After wandering around outside in the cold and rain, we decided to eat at Chongquin with some friends we haven't seen in a while. It was 7PM so it was prime time for supper for most people, but the restaurant had a few empty tables. We were able to get a seat right away with hot tea brought out to us. The Szechuan Fried Rice was spicey and flavorful, but not overpowering so that we can still enjoy our meat and veggie dishes. I really enjoyed the Pan Fried Rice Cakes, but it's not for everyone. It's basically pan fried dough with meat and veggies. The pieces of rice cakes are soft, chewy and not exactly the healthiest thing on the menu. Eat them while they're hot though because when cold, they turn a little hard. Note - Beer comes in cold frosted glasses. Nice touch.

Surprisingly spacious washrooms (separate men's and women's) for such a tiny restaurant. Very clean and checked multiple times a day. Simple decor, and decent lighting. Nothing is automatic, but everything is well stocked. A pleasant surprise. 3.5 out of 5 flushes.

I never been this location (Kingsway) and haven't return to Chongqing (on Commerical) for a decades. From my memory, their foods and services just ok. Nothing impress me at all. Time to return and give them a try. I didn'ts expect they have such modern interior and comfy booth seat. They serves a wide selection of lunch specials for $8.45. Each dish includes the choice of soup either chicken corn soup or hot and sour soup. We ordered 2 sets of lunch special to share, it were ok. Duck Lettuce Wrap was quite messy when we eating it coz the lettuce is quite thin and difficult to hold all of the juicy filling. Diced chicken in chili sauce was spicy but a bit greasy.

Cheap and cheerful local of Burnaby! Close to Metrotown stations and metro office towers! Love this place! Always a go to a nice sunny 5 min walk away from metrotown! Szechuan inspired dishes and their lunch specials are cheap and cheerful at $9.95b

The restaurant has been there for so many years, we pass by today and decided to give it a try, but it turns out very disappointing. They had lunch combo for $12.25, including one soup, one cold dish and one main course, value for money. However, the taste is nothing chongqing, actually from dishes on the menu you can already tell it not authentic chongqing food. Anyways, I will not come back again!

I would give this an average 3.5 as some dishes are 4+ and some can barely make it to 3. You really gotto know what to order or what to avoid. Ginger beef and dandan noodles are must try, IMO. Avoid any dish (fish, prawn, etc) that cooked in red chilli sauce. I don't taste any spiciness but rather sour (and a weird lil sweetness) in that sauce. But don't get me wrong, their house made hot sauce is something you should ask for if you love spicy food. They still have lunch special combo and price has gone up to $10+. Soup is no longer complimentary in the lunch combo but you can get it as add on for $1. The size is much smaller than regular but good enough for one person, a free bowl of rice makes it a good deal. Services are good and consistent. It looks they always have sufficient hands even during peak hours.

Great comfort Chinese food. You can request dishes to be mildly spicy. A caveat though, their mild might be a notch higher than the "true" mild. Portion sizes are reasonable for the price. Will definitely go back!

The base of the soup is made with escargot and then has actual escargot, meats and other vegetables inside with a dazzle of spice. Protip: you can customize the spice level to your liking! I also recommend the mouthwatering chicken (koushuiji/口水雞) which also has a delicious chilli oil spice. Service wise, this restaurant is pretty small and is more of a no-frills service. There aren't a lot of tables so things shouldn't take too long but the usually aren't to many staff on shift. For the price, I think the value makes sense for a rather uncommon dish. Overall, a great choice if you're in the Metrotown area and want to try something new!

They're a Northern Chinese spot that specializes in Guangxi cuisine and located right next to Onezo Tapioca. Even though it closes at 9:00pm, there were still people after us that came in for late night eats. We didn't have any issues with service; they came by to fill our tea several times. Just wish they gave bigger cups. Food comes out in a hurry. The menu is short and sweet: noodles, rice meals, appetizers, wontons and drinks. Trip #1 First visit was on a late Wednesday evening (around 8:30pm). - Mama's unique special milk tea ($4.80) - we added grass jelly ($0.50) which was unfortunately from a can. The milk tea was different than the norm as there was sweet fermented rice bits mixed in. Decent but don't think we'd get it again. - Sour and spicy crystal noodle ($6.98) - glass noodles with minced pork, bean sprouts, cilantro and peanuts. We got our dish medium spicy which was mild. Broth was excellently balanced; loved the sour notes. Glass noodles had a satisfying bite and cilantro added freshness to the bowl. - House special escargot rice noodles in spicy noodles ($13.98) - escargot, pig ear, beef, tofu, marinated egg, shrimp and pork intestine. There was also pickled green beans, bamboo shoots, tofu skins, wood ear mushrooms and peanuts. Really different with a good variety of textures and flavour. Loved all the types of meat, especially the tender beef, pork intestine and pig ear. Escargot was tasty but we wanted more. The tofu skin and wood ear mushrooms underneath were excellent. - Fresh meat wonton ($5.98) - this comes in a light broth with 15 homemade wontons, pickled seaweed and baby dried shrimp. Broth is basic but the wontons are great. Trip #2 Second trip was on a Friday evening (around 8:00pm). - Braised beef, pig ear and tofu ($10.98) - the beef is the same as what you get in their noodle bowls. Pig ear wasn't crunchy but the sauce (some sort of Chinese mushroom) was good. Tofu was fairly standard. For the price, it's a small dish; I didn't think it was worth it. - Shredded chicken, vegetable and cold noodle with house sauce ($9.53) - they asked us how spicy we wanted it; we went with spicy. Again, it's not so don't worry. The noodles were thin and the sauce was almost like a dan dan mein. We liked how it wasn't overwhelmingly peanuty. - Beef and escargot rice noodle in spicy soup ($9.98) - the beef is super tender. Again, the escargots are hard to find but everything else in this bowl is delicious. Tofu skin, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, peanuts and pickled green beans. Satisfying and spiciness finally came through. An interesting twist to the usual Northern Chinese spots typically found in town. Cash or debit only.

The place is decently sized. Staff are friendly. Can watch them crank away at the dumpling factory. Bit of entertainment when waiting for their food. The lunch special here is great value. Comes with soup too. The sichuan marbled pork & cabbage hit the spot. That tastyy Sichuan chili pepper taste. Beautiful. There is also an option for the thick (blade) noodles with no extra charge, which is a nice perk. The quantity was huge. I left stuffed and happy. I also looked at the neighbouring tables, and their non lunch items were also huge. Special mention. Definitely trying more of their food in their future. Just be mindful of their parking situation.
