Was on our way to Henderson Place Mall in Coquitlam, stopped by this Old Timer instead of our regular dim sum place at the mall. This is a total throw back to the 80's, once you are in you are transported back in time when this type of Chinese Restaurant is the norm, serving mostly Cantonese dishes and in this case Wonton! To a lot of North American, their introduction to Chinese Food is Wonton, Sweet & Sour Pork, Lemon Chicken etc. It is getting harder and harder to find this type of restaurants still in operation in the fast developing Lower Mainland. As for their food, it is honest good old fashioned Cantonese cooking with no fancy names or decorations. Highlight of our lunch: They do serve a pretty extensive list of dim sum items during lunch service and we ordered a few, their Egg Plant with Shrimp Puree in Black Bean Sauce is outstanding and can be compared to any other dim sum place in Vancouver. I also love the Baby Octopus in Satay Sauce, the octopus is steamed to just the right consistency and is not over cooked in this case, also the Satay Sauce is well balanced without being too spicy. Chicken Fried Crispy Noodles, a real throw back in time, this is exactly the way Chow Mien is served when I first moved to Vancouver in the early 80's. The Sauce is thicker then most restaurants nowadays but the flavour is very authentic; subtle and balanced of each ingredients which is the trademark of Cantonese Cuisine! From their menu, there are a lot more to be savoured and explored, we may come back to try their famous Crab Dishes!

We came here starving. I was hangry They have own spaces park at the rear Inside the restaurant: spacious , have A/C (believe ) which , have TV for entertainment The service: it was good. no complain The food : not excellent, not "very good" nor " good". It was okay. I had same order to every Chinese restaurant I dine. Today, I ordered lots ( because I was hungry ‍) I only like was House special chowmein with crispy noodles. Btw, I asked chili oil he said ," no chili oil. I gave chili paste."

Normally I'm nowhere near Port Moody but I was hanging out with a friend today and we wandered there. Very spacious on the inside, especially now that Covid has forced restaurants to space people out. Very generous spacing between tables. There's the usual bewildering array of Chinese restaurant staples in their menu but also a "Chef's Special Recommendations". Any two items on the list plus rice, daily soup, and daily dessert, for $42.95. So this would work out to over $20 per person, but you're likely to end up with one or two meals worth of takeout so it's actually closer to $10 per person. So whatever you think of the food quality, price for portion is definitely not lacking. Daily Soup (included in price of Chef's Daily Recommendations) -Honestly this looks like stray bits too small to use and just tossed into a pot to brew until the soup is flavourful. -It's okay, although the chunks of corn are awkward to eat. -It will NOT be doggy bagged. If you're going to have to take home leftovers, focus on finishing the soup first. Sauteed Rock Cod (one of the selections available in the Chef's Daily Recommendations fixed price meal) -Pretty basic. Nothing special here, but nothing wrong either. Pretty generous portion. Deep Fried Spicy Fresh Squid (one of the selections available in the Chef's Daily Recommendations fixed price meal) -This was pretty decent! Portion is very fair. -Came piping hot and with decent crunch. When it cooled it started to taste more oily so work on this first. -The spiciness comes in two ways: The batter, and the chili slices. It's mildly spicy on its own so if you need more, add a slice of chili with each bite. -Quite salty. Rice ("daily dessert", included in price of Chef's Daily Recommendations) -Doesn't look like a lot -- until you start scooping it out. It's more than enough for two persons for lunch. Mango Pudding ("daily dessert", included in price of Chef's Daily Recommendations) -Barely passable -- Mango flavour not really there. Staff polite and easily understand English -- whether this happens can often be a crapshoot when you walk into a Chinese restaurant. And credit cards are okay here. Bonus point for the good price-for-portion ratio. Otherwise sort of decently average.

Live crab with ginger and green onions on a bed of rice. Signature dish here!

Lougheed Wonton House is a medium sized Chinese restaurant which sits in a nondescript building with run down interior, but food is great here. Most dishes I tried here were good to very good and I don't recall being served a below par dish here. So cooking and ingredients are good with little up and down in daily quality. The most memorable dish here is live BC crab with ginger and green onions served on a bed of rice. This was very good and rice below was delicious soaked by crab juices. I would highly recommend this dish. Other dishes I tried were all good and solid offerings. Service was average here and I normally don't expect much in this type of establishment. It is efficient and fairly prompt.

'Lougheed Wonton House' was the second venue chosen to mark / celebrate my lady's birthday. Everything this time, was pre-arranged as a "surprise birthday event" (to me as well!!), by daughter, with some assistance from her brother -- and set to take place there, as a lunch, on 'the' birthday day (last Saturday). Daughter picked us up our usual time that morning, and after a quick couple of store stops, we were off to Port Moody and the restaurant -- looking forward to what has become a usual, much-enjoyed dim sum lunch at a favourite restaurant. The 'usual' part of this event, was quickly shattered when we walked in, and saw the setting of people awaiting our arrival!! From Mom - 'Oh, good grief, what's happening?' From daughter - 'some family and friends here to celebrate your birthday with you'. The gathering, with us in place, was 12 people in total -- all seated nicely around one of the large, round tables 'up' at the back of the restaurant. The food started with servings of corn & crab soup -- and went through servings of house special chow mein, sweet & sour boneless pork, dry spicy prawns, Peking style pork chop, curried vermicelli noodles, beef and gai lan, diced chicken w/cashew nuts, BBQ duck, beef w/ginger hot pot, steamed rice, and what I've missed -- to mango puddings as dessert. A fun, and much-enjoyed birthday feast!! With everything so well-prepared, and presented by the 'Lougheed Wonton' staff. Something our birthday 'Mom' will not soon forget!!

    Sweet and sour pork. Amazing

I came here for lunch on a Tuesday and the restaurant was about half full! There was a large variety of people - large groups dining in, people combining individually just for lunch, and people picking up takeout. I LOVED their sweet and sour pork. So saucy yet so crispy. The dim sum took quite a while to get but I'm ok with that because it means they were making them to order! I I got the steamed pork dumplings and the deep fried meat dumplings. The pork dumplings were excellent - very fearful and 4 big pieces. I wasn't as much a fan of the deep fried meat dumplings. The meat wasn't as flavorful and it was served inside a thick sticky textured bread that tasted a bit sweet. I would have also liked some pan fried potstickers and soup dumplings but I didn't see it anywhere on the menu. The interior is an average Chinese restaurant, a big room with lots of tables and traditional Chinese decor. Nothing fancy. I would say it's a better place to come with big groups because even though the lunch combos were cheaper, you still have to order everything separately. For example a dish of meat ($10) and a dish of rice/noodles ($10). Would be nice to get half of each in one combo. Food wise, this is some of the best Chinese food I have had in a while. Looking forward to coming back and trying more things on the menu!

Not on menu: Put the fun in, chow fun!

You know when you meet someone and they are ok looking...sure :) Then, you REALLY get to know them and they are awesome. And, NOW you can only see them as someone utterly handsome or beautiful? Yeah, so don't come here for the decor. Get to know the dishes. You'll start to view the place from a different perspective. My visiting SIL from Taiwan sat down, perused the menu, tasted the soup and declared it: good. Phew! When I first moved here years ago, a friend with Cantonese background told me about LWH. The first time I walked in it was filled with nary a white face in sight. A grrreat sign (wink). Since then I have eaten-in several times and ordered-in frequently. Just like my 'baptism by fire' for testing French bakeries is: a croissant; I have a go-to dish for Chinese food. Spicy squid. At LWH it's not too greasy, has piquant flavours of jalapeño and garlic and just the right amount of bite. You MUST get the pea leaves in garlic. I have never had them as deliciously prepared, anywhere else. My meat-and-potatoes-loving Irish Uncle is mad for these. He craves them. A GREEN vegetable! The prices are inexpensive and I like the efficient friendliness of staff. It's a crying shame I have never imbibed in the dim sum.

Came here with friends for dinner after spending the whole day at the beach. So, needless to say we were VERY hungry! Lol. Portions were huge and food was tasty. Service was amazing even though it was really busy when we got there and they managed to fit all 8 of us in no time. We were served our food so quick and it was a real fix for all of us

BC Crab (3lbs) in Blackbean sauce...winner!
    Getin M.

Enjoyed their BC Crab (about 3lbs) in black bean sauce. Shared for 3. Be ready to dig in and get your hands messy as its just the only real way to enjoy crabs. Paired with their Shrimp Fried rice and you're a winner! Be patient as service may become testy during peak hours.

My fav ginger and green onion crab.

The hot and sour soup was excessively sour, the fried rice cakes was too sweet and the Dan Dan noodles was excessively salty. The buns (Xiao Long Bao and san ji Bao) were okay but the wrapping was on the thick side. Furthermore, the ingredients don't taste fresh and dishes such as the Dan Dan noodles are missing key ingredients like cucumbers and carrots. Service is good, and there are robots as well. For the good news: very generous portion of the thick and flavourful Sweet Corn & Chicken Soup; the wonderful surprise of biting into the dumplings and getting both the authentic taste of the pork filling and the burst of the well seasoned broth Shanghai "Xiao Long Bao" Soup Dumplings; the properly cooked with the right amount of garlic and spice Salt & Pepper Squid and; the ever reliable FR "Yang-Zhou" Style. Unfortunately, we didn't fare so well with the rest of our meal. I've always wanted to try the Dan-Dan Noodles and I even opted for the Blade-Sheared Noodles. The noodles were overdone and so soft and slimy. It also didn't help that the extremely oily peanut sauce tasted like melted store-bought peanut butter with a smattering of minced pork. It wasn't even spicy as described. We also ordered the ironically dry and plain Green Onion Beef with Black Pepper Sauce. Not sure if the sauce spilled or evaporated but the container was devoid of any liquid. If it wasn't for the wonderful baos, my revised rating would have been 2 stars. If we ever go back to Legend House, it's probably just for the dim sums otherwise I'll pass.
