Pork Chop Tan-Tan Noodle with Chicken Sweet Corn Soup and Pork Dumplings
Kishi M.

Have been coming to this establishment on and off for almost 17 years and their food is perhaps the beat chinese food in the tri-cities area... This time around ordered Chicken Sweet Corn Soup, Steamed Pork Dumplings and Pork Chop Tan-Tan Noodles.. Each item was delicious but the flavor of Tan-Tan noodles with Peanuts was absolutely stellar.. The person who served me was VERY kind and attentive, helped recommend what to try and came around several times to check if I was enjoying the food... They have a special dinner menu which I wasn't able to try so really looking forward to coming back here soon.. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !! Great Food, Kind People and Good Ambience...

.. at our table, about to check out the menus.

My lady's birthday yesterday, and her chosen venue for lunch. At our table, the "birthday girl" (at the young age of '92'), son, daughter, and me. We arrived at the restaurant just before their opening time of 11 am, and were especially excited to be there to celebrate Mom's big 'day'!! Everything at the restaurant looked and sounded as before -- pretty, decorative, and quiet. Along with friendly staff, and their warm greetings at arrival, and throughout our stay. Using the 'main' menu to order, here is what 'we' decided upon: - soup (starter): wonton soup, small bowl, divided into four smaller bowls. - dim sum: steamed green dumplings -- steamed chicken feet in black bean sauce. - entrees: steamed veggies -- deep fried spicy squid -- house special chow mein -- sweet & sour boneless pork -- bean curd (tofu) & Chinese mushroom. dessert: restaurant provided mango pudding ("cake"), in honour of Mom's birthday). A nice spread of offerings. We all contributed to the ordering, and based on the result, sure did well. Food presentations were so visually appetizing -- preparations outstanding, dishes so distinctly, and highly-flavourful, and tasty. A fine venue, and very nicely-prepared lunch. A fun and much-enjoyed time to honour a special lady, and celebrate her 'day'!!

Has been awhile since the last time I have dim summed. Have lived in the area for awhile, it never has dawned to us to dine here. We walked passed this place so often, it never looked too inviting, could be the blinds were always drawn? A very discrete small front entrance stood before us. We were not sure what to expect. Inside looks to be a familiar Chinese/HK styled restaurant in Lower Mainland. We arrived at the open 10:30am, not sure what their popularity is like for weekend dim sum, wanted to avoid any type of holiday "hostilities". Turns out we were the first guests and dined alone for 1/2 hour before any other guests arrived. We were given a traditional menu, not the typical order forms you get at other dim sum places. They gave us jasmine tea without asking what type of tea we preferred assuming we don't have any preference. Strange, could it be we were speaking English? As later Chinese speaking guests were given a choice of teas. The menu have 4 variety of dim sum- HK, southern (Szechuan), Shanghai and northern Beijing? We ordered a few items from each regions. We found their HK style to be the most authentic. Other regions were not bad. Overall the dim sum was priced fairly, the HK style was their best. Other regional offerings were alright. This is an interesting place to dim sum especially for those new to this dining experience; gives an opportunity to try a variety to decide what style they like best.

This is a photo of what they brought me and my entire family as a desert form their kitchen: a penis shaped dessert.

I am posting this because I've had people reach out and share similar experiences that encourage me to post this because this type of behaviour is from their entire kitchen staff of 40 something year old men. If you're dining here, know that this is something they may bring you as a surprise as it's not on their menu. It is not a surprise most people want at a full family gathering so here is a fair warning. They have removed my review from Google but I don't understand why since they were adamant that this was "fun" and they have done it many times before. Anything you serve a paying diner is fair to review, photograph and post. https://www.reddit.com/r/vancouver/comments/vssevq/restaurant_serves_me_penis_shaped_birthday/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

In the limited Dim Sum scene of Coquitlam Wah Wing offers a wide regional variety of dim sum covering both Northern (heavier carbs, thicker and bigger everything) and Southern variety (saltier, thin and delicate, smaller everything). This explains the lengthy and at times confusing dim sum menu as similar dishes show up more than once (such as Pan Fried Green Onion Pancake/Pastry). Be sure to ask the server to confirm if the specific item is what you are looking for. We ended up with super thick slab of green onion pastry when we wanted the thin pancake style. Having ordered from both northern and southern dim sum menu, Wah Wing fares better in the Southern dishes (steam spare ribs, prawn steam dumpling, shiu Mai etc). Dough-based buns, pancakes, dumplings of Northerners seem to be too thick and will likely disappoint most Chinese customers. Ambience wise this little restaurant rocks a 70's Scarface club joint type of pinkish lighting and cheesy mirrors based off by security fence with no views to outside or daylight, which makes food dining experience subpar as food colors cannot be rendered correctly without daylight. Staff are friendly and efficient. Most are Cantonese speaking but can handle basic mandarin. If you are English speaking they won't give you a choice of tea (Jasmine by default). If you want good Northern dim sum, there is Legend House in Coquitlam Central. Grand Palace at Henderson malls offers much fiber southern dim sum. So WAH Wing has a lot of competition to overcome to regain award status of 2012. In general I prefer fewer dishes that are well executed rather than being the jack of all trades but nothing to be desired. It's worth at least one try.

Came back here jonsing so bad for more of this amazing chinese food. The spicy fried squid is simply the best I have ever had anywhere in canada or the US AND I have had it in China town in LA and in vancouver/richomnd and Toronto, not to mention about every town In between. The Service here is amazing and so well done these folks are very good and very attentive. Overall the food in my opinion pretty much beats anywhere else. Love taking this home nom nom nom for left overs!

First I would like to sincerely apologize for my horrible photo. I am still learning and trying my best to take good food pictures I was in a rush and did not take my time as I was out with my friends and family!! We ordered more food but they came later and I didn't want to be rude and take pictures so again I sincerely apologize!! We ordered 蝦餃,雪菜肉絲湯麵,肉絲炒麵 & 皮蛋瘦肉粥. I really like this restaurant as I come here a lot and I grew up going to this restaurant I don't have much to say other than that I really recommend this restaurant so be sure to try this restaurant out before you die oh and one more thing: the restaurant doesn't look really boujee on the outside but it's a good place to go to as it looks pretty nice and expensive looking inside :) well sort of.

I was craving some Chinese food and wanted to try a new place so I decided to give Wah Wing a go. The restaurant is located inside the Westwood Centre strip mall with tons of free parking. On this visit I ordered the Vegetarian Spring Rolls, General Tso's Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pork, Assorted Deluxe Vegetables and the House Special Fried Rice. The Spring Rolls were fresh and tasty, the Generals Chicken had the perfect amount of spice and was my personal favourite item of the meal, the pork was your typical sweet & sour pork, the vegetables were cooked perfectly however I think I got the bottom of the barrel because there wasn't much variety or colour on the veggie plate, the rice was cooked perfect, I wasn't expecting shrimp in the House rice but it was good. The service was good, the decor was on par with other Chinese food restaurants in the area. If I'm ever in need of some American style Chinese food I will definitely return.

I'm generally quite forgiving when it comes to dim sum, but the offering at this place is beyond my comprehension. All sorts of dumplings are wrapped in thick flourful dough. The taro duck roll is dreadfully surprising - duck feet and chunks of unseasoned taro wrapped in bean curds. How are these supposed be eaten?

It was supposed to be my final meal of this leg of my Vancouver food trip, and with so many…read morerestaurants to choose from, I decided to trust my gut and head to Dragon Wok. Faced with two locations, I picked the newer one for reasons I can't quite explain, and thus began an amazing journey. The spacious parking area was a great start, and as soon as I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted by a bright, soothing, and clean environment. The Far East vibes were unmistakable, with signs all around confirming I was in a Chinese place. A polite girl greeted us and guided us through the extensive menu, helping us choose the best dishes and combinations. To give some context, Indo-Chinese food originated in Kolkata, Bengal, and evolved as it spread across India, with each region adding its own twist. My favorite is Bangladeshi Chinese, known for its aroma, toned textures, and balanced, soothing sauces and condiments. Although Indo-Chinese variations have diverged from their Bengali-Chinese roots, I was hoping to find something that would closely match my taste preferences. That's when a gentleman named Abrar approached us. To my delight, he was from Kolkata, the birthplace of Indo-Chinese cuisine. He took the time to understand our preferences, crafting recommendations that seemed tailored just for us. He went above and beyond, even deciding how to tweak their original dishes to match our taste buds. We decided to go all out with his suggested combinations. We started with the appetizer, the Spicy chili garlic wings, and they were incredible--thin, yet with the crispiest crust, perfectly balanced with the chili garlic sauce. They were well-marinated with no gaminess, and the juicy inner layer contrasted beautifully with the crunchy exterior. 5/5. The Masala Fish blew us away--it was unforgettable. It wasn't overly spicy; a hint of sweetness brought out the flavors, with a light, airy crunch giving way to melt-in-your-mouth fish. The Crispy Chili Beef was very special. It wasn't dry, with a perfect semi-crisp exterior and juicy interior. Each bite validated how beef should be cooked. The sauce was perfectly balanced, neither too salty nor too sour. The Ginger garlic chicken was stir-fried to perfection, super soft with a soothing gravy, and the perfect blend of oriental sauces. Everything was balanced just right. The vegetable Hakka chowmein were not too oily, and though the noodles were a bit thinner than usual, they complemented every entrée so well it felt like a match made in heaven. Finally, the dessert--Ice cream with fried banana--was an ingenious creation. The warm, crunchy banana paired perfectly with the cold ice cream, creating a delightful ending to the meal. The girl at the reception (sorry, I didn't ask her name) was incredibly cordial, checking in on us several times and even offering complimentary green tea. Abrar also checked in on us a couple of times, providing exceptional service. I noticed him being attentive to every customer, offering nothing short of the best service you can get in a restaurant. I know taste buds vary, and Indo-Chinese palates differ across the subcontinent, but as someone extremely picky about Indo-Chinese food, I feel I had my best Indo-Chinese experience in North America at Dragon Wok. You're in good hands with these experts from the birthplace of Indo-Chinese cuisine.

The menu is extensive, offering everything from classics like General Tso's and lo mein to more unique options. With so many choices, there's something for everyone. The food always comes out hot and flavorful, and the staff is friendly and efficient. It's a great spot when you're craving Indo-Chinese food and want big portions that satisfy. We got veg fried rice, Manchurian chicken, and shrimp chow mein and honestly those plates were wiped clean. It was enough for four starving people. I'm tempted to come back and try their soup and other things on the menu. Can't wait!

You know it is legit when someone says their favourite Chinese restaurant is outside of Richmond and Vancouver, which are home to many delicious Chinese restaurants! Service was friendly. It was attentive at the start, but soon went downhill. We had to flag down the server to take our order, get our bill, and follow up on the congee that comes with the menu over $30. Despite being 1 of 4 tables, the food also took a while to come, but once one came then most dishes came quickly after (except for the tofu and congee). The servers were friendly, but just not attentive. We ordered 2 noodle dishes and 3 other dishes and prices were decent around $13-$15 per item. The stir fried beef noodles was well flavoured and not too salty. It was a touch greasy and some of the noodles were choppy, but it was the bean sprout/cabbage/onion that tasted off. It didn't taste fresh. The Shanghainese fried noodles was one of my favourites of the night. The noodles were a touch firm, but the flavour was pleasant - not too salty or sweet. The salt pepper pork chop came with fried garlic, onions and peppers. It wasn't overly salty, but the pork chop was dry and didn't taste fresh - tasted like it was frozen and just defrosted. The honey garlic spareribs was another favourite of mine. It was fried crispy and the flavour wasn't overly strong - not too garlicky or overwhelmly sweet. There are different versions of the fried tofu. Some restaurants make them with ample of stir fried garlic or onions and chili pepper. This version looked like squares of chicken nuggets with no toppings. It had a crispy coating and soft interior, but it definitely didn't resembled what the dish usually is. Overall, some of the ingredients and dishes didn't taste fresh, and we were utterly disappointed with the quality and taste of some of the dishes.

It's small but has quite many seats, the lady is very friendly. She gave me a photo album to order from which is so fun and I have never seen anything like this before and every restaurant should 10000000% do the same. I ordered the 酸辣肥肠粉 pork intestine sour spicy noodle(added an egg) and potato shreds cold stir凉拌土豆丝 Ok I have to to say, the potato dish is THE BEST i have had in canada and it is a very very high compliment from me, since I order that whenever I can. It's soooo good and I ate the whole plate in a few mins. The pork intestine noodle is so so, I wish there are more pork intestine, I had 4-5 pieces and they r quite small, the egg tho, is sooooo good, it's worth it to add one to the noodle. They also add a ton of peanuts so if u have allergies u need to tell them, they wont ask u. She also gave me a small ice jelly dessert for free in the end, it tastes so good??!!! This place is tiny, as in it can seat about 20 people, and every table had people and had piping hot food on each. Both me and my friend needed to wait a few minutes till someone left, and when we got seated, they gave us their regular menu, and later on gave us a picture book.. and if you guessed it.... everything on their menu with a separate picture. My friend ordered his bowl of spicy pork chop glass noodles in soup, and I had a dry version of spicy noodles with pork. We also ordered their deep fried tofu, deep fried chicken, and a plate of spicy cucumber. Every dish was done just right, and what I mean by that is that every hot dish seemed to be made to order, and it was confirmed when we spoke to the lady there. The spicy cucumber dish came out, and you can tell they use fresh ingredients, the cucumber, although the chili oil used was spicy, due to the freshness of the cucumber, was sweet too. The deep fried tofu had a nice hard outer deep fried shell, and yet the inside was soft and really hot, the chicken took the longest, but this was worth waiting for, with the thin deep fried batter, I don't think I have ever had chicken this hot in temperature, and it was great. Both noodle dishes were huge, and I wondered how my friend ended up eating all of his, I had to take 1/3 of mine home as it was too much. We also ordered a plum drink and a hawthorne drink and at the end was served complimentary jelly as dessert. This was a great meal and if you are in the area, I would recommend you try this place out.
