Food are yummy, service are good, the servers are smiling and very accommodating.Ambiance a bit too crowded,

Beef and green onion = good. Perfect. Container was on smaller side. Beef was very tender and nice. Flat noodle (rice noodle with beef in black bean sauce) = 15% noodles only in this dish ?? A fair amount of beef. No black bean sauce. This was good and best bang for buck since a lot of beef wish I knew this before ordering a separate beef dish noodles were mushy. Woukd get Shanghai next time. Deep Fried Spicy Prawns w/Rocksalt = meh. The batter was mushy. These were spicy, nor salty. Tasted cheap. Would never get this again. read more

loved the food and the service is okay. clean looking restaurant, washrooms need a deep clean. but what needs improvement is description of the menu items. I asked the waitress what the specials were. She showed me the chicken dishes. I asked what the Empress chicken with garlic sauce was. She could NOT tell me what it was. Took a chance and ordered it... wrong move. I got ice cold chicken chopped up with small bones in it and a side of greasy garlic oil. Did not taste good. -another waitress stopped by and when I asked why it's served cold, she pointed to the Chinese writing and said it's right there!!! lol, no English language. read more

Excellent staff and service , old school layout nothing fancy to see here but the food is excellent Sichuan style .

I'm not happy with any of the dishes we ordered here on June 6th. I'd prefer to have ordered Chinese food from a place in Richmond or Vancouver but we were on a time constraint, hungry and in Delta/Surrey. We gave it a try...............I should have followed my gut. read more

I'm not going back to this place. Ever! They're blatantly ripping off people. They charged for water and tea if you order dimsum, which is somewhere on the menu. Sure, go ahead and do that if: 1. Served it well and fair! You're the one who imposed this charge for basic items. Make sure to back it up with good service. But, no! Even the lady at the counter did not even care when we complained about it. Shrugged it off (gesturing, not my problem) when I said the kettle of tea, it did not even fill at least 2 cups. I have been in the food and restaurant industry for more than a decade, so I will not express my concern if I think it's fair. 2. Ensure it's sufficient and reasonable for those you are charging! To give you all a better picture: We only had 2 small pitchers (the most) of water for our entire stay for a table of 12. A small kettle of tea that did not even fill at least 2 cups! None of you cared to check or even ask if it was enough or would like to have another one. I still paid for it, but I made sure I expressed my disappointment. Charging water. Really?! It's such a shame. I just think it's a little heartless. Mostly when its done without empathy. Like your restaurant, who wants to stay in the business, people who dine and support you also try to enjoy life and live a little by dining out with family and bonding over food. That's why we were there. I would let this go only if the lady in front and the manager acknowledged, gave some sort of apology or even expressed understanding of the concern. Instead, we got a cold "whats done is done" attitude. Well, you know what? You just lost a long-time customer, and I'll always spread this awful experience to everyone I am going to interact with. Word of mouth travels fast and watch how it works. read more

I was craving Chinese and with a friend. We decided to see what was around and stumbled upon ChongQing. I had been to a couple of the restaurants by the same name in Vancouver and liked them so I figured we'd give it ago. We entered a large restaurant that wasn't all that busy. We were promptly served and given tea. Shortly after ordering the food began to arrive dish by dish. We got the lemon chicken, deep fried squid, and the chongqing fried rice. The squid and the rice were tasty. The chicken was not bad, but I wasn't crazy about the breading. The interior was a touch dated, but definitely clean. Next time I'm in the neighborhood I'll be back. read more

Foods are good, just a regular chinese food. The Ginger Beef is only sweet and the Fried Squid are my favorite. read more

One, two, three....Chong OUT! I have tried all the locations of this restaurant group and this was the third visit for this particular location under the recommendation of one of my good friend because the founder of this restaurant group is his cousin. The restaurant is located on the corner of 120th (the Surrey side) & 86th avenue with its own parking at the back and where its main entrance is. When arrived, the waitress seated us on a 20"x20" table right against the wall when the restaurant literally was almost empty. When another group of 2 and a single diner came in following us, they were seated close to the middle of the restaurant on tables enough for 6 people.... Amazing logic and services. Anyways, I almost walked out but my guest suggested we stay and hope the food will make up for it. Here were the food I ordered; 1. Wonton soup. I honestly can say with confident, this easily won the title as the worse wonton soup I have ever ate. The soup base was literally water, soy sauce and msg (WTF! Seriously?) As for the wonton themselves; the skin was a bit thick and seems like they have been sitting around in the fridge for awhile, the minced pork was the size of an almond with a mushy pork paste texture. This are the type of food you feed to those unwanted guests at your house party so they can leave asap. This wonton soup failed miserably. 2. Steamed rice rolls with dried shrimps and green onions. This dish was okay but the rice rolls can be a bit smoother. 3. Steamed mixed meat with peanut dumplings. The taste was okay but the skin was a bit thick and rough, tasted like the ones from the dim sum wholesalers. 4. Steamed sticky rice wrapped with lotus leaf. Pretty generic like most dim sum restaurants. 5. Steamed chicken feet. They were okay, once again pretty generic and I still can't figure out why sprinkle raw diced green pepper and jalapeños on top after steaming the chicken feet. Perhaps it would've been better steamed them together with the chicken feet to add more flavour and aroma?!? Honestly this had to be one of the top 5 worse Chinese restaurants I have ever eaten at. It's like a Chinese Canadian restaurant back in the 70s where Chinese food is not really Chinese food because it's not meant to cater to the Chinese community. The services here are as amazing as a cow climbing up a tree. This was literally the third time where logic wasn't applied to service. As for the food, just like the previous visit for dinner, the Peking Duck I had, tasted and physically appeared more prehistoric than the dinosaurs. Overall, definitely no more Chong'ing around for me and I definitely do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. A solid -3 stars for me, Chong OUT! read more

I haven't had dim sum in ages. Dim sum is not something that I would crave often. I came here on a Thursday afternoon. This place was 25% full. There are not a lot of Chinese restaurants in the area. Selection at this restaurant is somewhat limited but it had what we wanted. We got 3 dim sum dishes and a lunch special. We got the: - General Tao which came with soup and rice - Deep Fried Pumpkin Dumpling with Minced Meat - Baked Bun with BBQ Pork - Steamed Rice Roll with Beef and Cilantro Overall the food was ok. The service was good. We really liked the General Tao dish. It was not too spicy. It had a sweet kick to it as well. The lunch special came with a soup so we got the hot and sour soup. That was not bad. It was flavorful. We prefer the Shanghainese style hot and sour soup. I mean it didn't taste anything like the Shanghainese version. I personally liked the pumpkin dumpling. B didn't like it because he said it tasted fishy. I prefer it because it was sweet. I would say it was a somewhat between a dessert and a meat dim sum. It tasted like the mince meat fried balls. The bbq bun was interesting. It was overly sweet. I don't dislike it. The steamed rice roll was the most disappointing. The skin was too thick. They were generous on the amount of beef so I guess that was good. Also the soy sauce was not the one for rice rolls. They basically gave us salty soy sauce for the rice rolls which was somewhat disappointing. Overall the place was ok. They have free parking at the back so that is good. I prefer having Chinese food in Vancouver or Richmond. But hey they are in Surrey so I can't expect too much. read more

Our go-to Chinese restaurant in the north delta/Surrey area. They have the usual suspects: chow mein, fried rice, etc. Our faves are the Shanghai noodles with shredded pork, ginger beef, fried squid with rock salt, and fried rice. We do come here for dimsum once in a while and we also like their dimsum options. A solid Chinese place in the area. read more

Trying to find a good dim sum restaurant in Surrey can be very limited so I was happy to find something close by in Delta. The restaurant has plenty of seating and we found service was very friendly and fast. Instead of traditional carts you simply check off your choices on the paper dim sum menu and hand your order to your waiter and soon you'll be feasting on delicious bite sized dim sum. These vary from items in bamboo steamers, baked sweet or savoury fried dumplings. Go with friends so you can share little plates of food. Be sure to order the go to dishes like Har gow (steamed prawn dumplings), sui mai (pork and shrimp dumplings), prawn spring rolls, bbq pork buns and so much more! I always order too much and take home the leftovers. For authentic dim sum without having to go to crowded Richmond this place is a must try. They also gave a great Szechaun style Chinese lunch and dinner menu if you prefer. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. They also take reservations but usually I have been able to get a table when we go. read more

Everyone should be coming here for lunch!! I have been to their other locations and always good food. They have $9.95 lunch specials served with choice of hot & sour or corn chowder soup. A ton of different options from Noodles to Lettuce Wraps. The General Tso's was killer and the service was great. They have a large parking lot but when we went for a Friday lunch it was almost full so keep that in mind. I have seen some of the reviews on here for delivery food that weren't very good but take my word for it the dining room definitely has a great lunch service for a great price. 2 dim sum dishes, 2 lunch specials and 2 bowls of soup and the total was under $35 plus lots of leftovers. Finally decided to try this location as I always drive by it when I'm visiting Van. I've been to the Kingsway location back in the days and was craving some eats. We each tried the lunch specials and just ordered the Tso Chicken as a full plate. The presentation was alright but taste was good. You can request extra spicy and they hook it up! The only issue why I didn't give them 4 stars was because the servers are watching you like a hawk, or like those Felix the cat clocks which eyeballs follow you. It was clean, restrooms were clean and food was good. Not super duper great but worth the price. Just nite lunch specials that are fried rice or noodle dish also the lettuce wrap, DOES NOT COME WITH RICE! read more

Lovely to have another dim sum join in the North Delta/Surrey area. I did find, however, that ChongQing was too expensive for what they offer. The dishes were definitely plated beautifully, I'll give it that, but the flavour was nothing to rave about. I personally would still prefer to drive to Richmond for dimsum given that the prices and quality at this joint does not amount. The interior is elegant and cozy compared to the large banquet halls other Chinese restaurants boast, which I felt gave it a nice intimate charm. Service was fine. No complaints. In a pinch? Here's your place. Wanting the legit dim sum? Just make the drive. read more

I give a high score of 5 for a dim sum place. First of all I appreciate how attentive the staff/ waiters are to their customers. Second we got seated right away no busy line ups and the resto is pretty spacious. I just did not like the choice of fabric/ chair they used a bit outdated. Lastly the dim sum was great , big portions , tasty, and the price is right. Tip: try their chilli oil and it's available for purchase . The best I've tasted if you love spice read more

I visited the Metrotown location as well as the Robson one which is by far my favorite but I agree with another yelper here...the service needs to shape up...seriously and fast. It is a big and very nice looking location. I was seated immediately and ordered veggie fried rice and orange peel chicken. The chicken was damn good. That flavour is incredible. The rice was ok... nothing special. My only issue with the chicken was that it was sliced thinly which is ok but the texture became hard. And the dish alone is about $15 dollars. In anycase, the servers weren't very customer service oriented and this needs to change bc according to the other 2 reviews, no one is impressed yet. But no doubt I will return. The food is good. read more

I would like to preface this review by saying that I've never tried other CQ locations. I also did not stay for my entire meal to try a variety of dishes to judge thoroughly. However, for the time that I was there, I was not impressed and here's why: 1) Food - My party and I ordered starters only. We had the duck three ways (peking duck, duck soup, and lettuce wrap), and a traditional platter with jelly fish and meat. The peking duck was so small that we thought we had ordered only half a duck. When asked, the waitress jut said, it's a full order, and then walked away. The soup came and it looked like a mess. The lettuce wrap came and the lettuce was old with brown stains on it. The platter of jelly fish and meat also didn't seem fresh. We each had a taste of the dishes but did not bother going in for seconds. 2) Presentation - Not a priority it seems. The duck for the peking duck laid sad and flat on a plate. Typically this would be served over a bed of prawn chips. The soup was also a hot mess. It had chunks of duck meat, bone, broken pieces of tofu and vegetables. Not appetizing. The lettuce wrap is already mentioned above. The platter of jelly fish looked.. normal. There's really nothing you can do to mess this up. Except it wasn't fresh. 2) Service - Our main server provided subpar service. In her defence, she seemed inexperienced. A different server brought out the soup and then proceeded to ladle it into our bowls. Our main server had laid out the correct amount of bowls on the lazy susan for this server, but this server decided to count heads and then took a bowl away. Not sure what she was counting because we then had to wave her down to give us an extra bowl. She didn't say a word to us and walked away, seemingly annoyed that we asked her for something that she had no reason to take away. 3) Location The restaurant itself is bright and new. They chose a good location because there aren't many Chinese restaurants opened in this area. But the parking lot can be improved. I drove up to the parking lot (behind the restaurant) and it was packed. So I found myself turning into a dark underground parking lot that was empty. It was lit by one blinking fluorescent light. Anyway, I parked there. Walking out of the parking lot was a scary experience because it resembled a horror scene. I highly suggest, if they haven't already, to place more signage and lights in the parking area. Also maybe don't walk alone in this parking lot. After we got all the dishes we ordered (starters only, thankfully), we decided to leave and eat elsewhere. Needless to say, I will not be returning. There are so many Chinese restaurant options in Vancouver and other areas of Surrey to choose from. I urge you to try another place. read more

Delicious and authentic dimsum at a not-so populated area compared to Richmond. Took one star off for expensive dinner prices.

Pleasantly surprised. The place is brand new inside. Newly renovated. Everything served was fresh. This is the goto place for western (caucasian) chinese food. It is by no means authentic chinese cuisine. The vegetables in the fried rice were clearly frozen veggies instead of fresh. Service is ok, not stellar but not bad either. Staff aren't very knowledgeable on simple things like what kind of tea is being served. This is a bit of shock. Parking here is a nightmare and for that reason, you might want to avoid but overall this is a pretty good Canadian western chinese restaurant in Delta/Surrey. read more

Place is nice and fancy although I can't say the same with quality of food. Price is over priced! Ordered beef and broccoli it was more like broccoli, they totally cheaped out on beef and put shredding of it. I also got the chicken chow mein and it was more like cabbage and sprouts chow mein not much meat! Got the fried rice too and something doesn't taste right it tasted like spoilt fried rice which was disgusting. Ordered 4 dishes and 4 pop bill came to almost $75!!! And it was not worth it! Price for quality should've been just around $30. Not coming back here again! Other better Chinese food resto to go to. What a cheap place for an expensive price. Service was ok, I give 2 star cause of that and the ginger beef and pop was good. read more

Ordered delivery. It was pretty quick, within 30 minutes. This place is new for us, first time eating their food so we play it safe and ordered 'Fried Rice with Shredded Chicken' and the 'Chong Qing Chow Mein with Meat & Seafood'. The fried rice was really bland. Adding soy sauce helped a little bit but it's still missing that 'high heat wok flavour' The chow mein was fried crunchy nicely but the chow mein sauce was very bland as well. It had all the usual toppings in a Cantonese chow mein except it also had slices of ham. These were perfectly cooked but again the sauce on them was bland. Needs more oyster sauce (or msg). The food was edible. read more

SPACE: Its open concept, which is kind of nice and a bit traditional but the downside is that the prying eyes are everywhere. FOOD: The food is exactly what I had expected, a generous serving size for a decent price and it was really flavorful. We got the General Tso's chicken, Ginger beef and Sweet and sour pork w/ fried rice. I've always been a fan of General Tso's chicken and this one was fresh and the balance between sweet and spicy was tipped more towards the spicy side. Even the Ginger beef was spicy and after a while, it really got to us. LOL. All said and done, enjoyable meal. SERVICE: The service was great!
