Our go to place in North Delta (Asian Jazz) closed down, so we came to Main Choice and ordered our regular dishes for take out so we could compare apples to apples. Ordered Lemon Chicken (sauce very thin and not lemony enough), crispy ginger beef - just ok (loved Asian Jazz ginger beef as it was more flavorful), and Yong Chow fried rice-big portion but Asian Jazz better. I would give it a 2 1/2 to 3 stars read more

Main Choice Chinese Restaurant - Lemon Chicken Sauce (very funny) Chicken breaded & fried Ginger Beef Yong Chau fried rice - Chinese Near Me - Surrey, British Columbia

We ordered a combination dinner for 2 on Feb 02, 26 and were very disappointed. The prawn batter was rock hard and over cooked. The sweet and sour had a piece of plastic in it. It wasn't very hot either. We have ordered from Main Choice from time to time but won't be ordering from them any more. read more

Chicken chowmein has nice pieces of chicken. Sweet and sour pork is so-so: fatty pieces and not super crispy as I prefer. Sauce is good but doesn't stick well to the meat, probably needs a bit more corn starch? Portions are large and service is nice and friendly. I'll order again because there isn't much better value in the area. read more

We came here for a quick and delicious Chinese dinner in surrey. The service was great and food came out fast. The ginger beef and the sweet and sour pork were both my top favourite dish. The ginger beef has a special ginger tastes to it that makes it more gingery in a good way and the sweet and sour pork has a fantastic crunch to it that is unique to this restaurant. I have never tasted this kind of crispy ginger beef. The beef chow fun and the chicken fried rice is what you would expect from an authentic Chinese restaurant but better becauseits not salty. It's perfectly seasoned. What makes these dishes so great is the wok smell that takes it to another level and make it authentically gooood! The almond chicken was generously covered in almond which is quite rare to see. Apparently, it's a common chicken chicken dish but this is the first time I've had it. The chicken was juicy inside, the batter was crispy and the almond gives it a nutty flavor. The shrimp tempura was a good size. It came with a sweet and sour sauce. The tempura was light and crispy which made them so so good. If I am in Surrey again, I will be making another visit here. read more

This food is delicious. Our delivery came quickly, well within the time allotted. The food was hot and full of flavor. My husband had shrimp egg foo yong and the shrimp were plentiful. I had honey garlic pork and it was well balanced and yummy. This is not a chain so if you authentic, this is where to come. Great food. read more

I wanted sweet and sour chicken balls for dinner and my date ended up getting take out from this restaurant. They have their own app on their website to order pick up. App was okay and did the job placing our food order. The photos on their website is not necessarily reflective of what you might get. We ordered the special chow mein ($12.95) and it was very different from the photo (ie much less veggies in real life), BBQ pork fried rice ($9, no greens), sweet and sour chicken balls ($12.95) and wonton soup ($4.95). Overall, the food was decent for Canadian Chinese. The chicken balls were fried okay. It was not as fresh by the time I got to eating it but it tasted alright. I found the wonton soup, rice and noodles to be more enjoyable. The fortune cookies was a good way to finish our meal. There was leftovers for dinner the following night. read more

Service is always amazing very friendly family owned restaurant. Great for takeout, good prices and good size servings. We always order from here for family functions or birthdays when we want some good Western Chinese food. The best choice for Chinese takeout in Newton and Panorama. I've been eating healthier recently and had to forgo a lot of yummy Chinese food since I know most Chinese dishes are oily and are a bit too high in sodium for me But I craved Main Choice so badly a week into my healthier lifestyle that I was willing to have a 'cheat day'. So I called Main Choice ordering my yummy usuals. Instead, Kat, the owner, provided me with a healthier option of my favorite dishes!!!! I was able to eat healthy fresh Chinese food without cheating on my healthier lifestyle. I've been back at least half a dozen of times in the past two months to satisfy my Chinese food craving. Last, but not least, every time I pick up my food, no matter how small or demanding my order was, I am greeted with a warm smile and friendly chit chat. The owners of Main Choice are so friendly and accommodating, I couldn't ask for more. So whenever I want some authentic, fresh Chinese food in Surrey, I'll speed dial Main Choice. #1 Chinese Take Out/ Dine In place in Surrey for sure! If you haven't try this place, you have to. read more

My chow mein was burnt and you can smell and taste the burnt in every bite. Some of the noodles you could see the black burnt. It was inedible. The almond chicken was rock hard batter with the driest dehydrated chicken inside. Sweet and sour pork was mediocre definitely not fresh read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but this "hole in the wall" restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is fantastic, great portions, at good prices. They use very little, if any MSG as we don't get the usual MSG after affects. This is our new "go to" place, but due to Covid restrictions is take out only right now. read more

Yes, had to give a reluctant 4 stars to a typical hole in the wall establishment, esp. considering it ain't no date worthy, quite antiquated interior. But onto the food; not surprisingly, the honey garlic spareribs tasty, right about of crispness & fresh oil. Good size portion, and knew to cut out the corner top of the takeout, i like that ;) Located in strip mall, plenty of parking but you can't make a left from 72nd Ave. due to island, gotta do one big loop. friendly service too. read more

This really a 3.5 star review. Like others have mentioned, given the location of the restaurant no one would expect anything tasty to cone out of here but hey never judge a book right....There is a sort of odd chemical smell inside the restaurant and no music but very clean. The lady at the counter is very nice, but it took awhile for my order to be taken, there were 2 take out orders to be filled ahead of me. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken. The chicken is breast meat, the flavor was great. The side of rice was a bit hard and not very sticky as I would prefer. The chicken corn soup is great, really.enjoyed it. I did notice I was over charged for my can of soda though. That was a turn off. But overall good eats for the price. And I had enough left over for lunch the following day. read more

One of the best Chinese restaurants in Surrey with pretty quick delivery occasionally but sometimes can take an hour.. Most of their food is great HOWEVER I ordered the Sesame Chicken with my last order and come to find they are dark meat chicken nuggets that you buy at superstore for $4 a bag..quite unappetizing and not worth it! They should be using real chicken like they use for their almond chicken.. really weird for them to use those nuggets. But they do have really good fried rice and the Wonton Soup is my favourite. read more

After reading the mixed reviews I thought I'd give this place a try. I had the #4 combo. The chow mein was dry and tasteless as was the lemon chicken. No sauce on sweet sour pork and terrible chop suey. It was like everything was under a heat lamp for hours. Definitely not a return customer. read more

Service is amazing here - the lady that took my order was incredibly nice & personable. Unfortunately the food was quite sub-par, and comparable to the Chinese food they serve at the mall. Their chow mein was the biggest disappointment - hey used different noodles and sauce than what I'm used to getting elsewhere, which completely changed the taste of the dish (and not in a good way). Their beef & broccoli was fairly good though. I suggest reserving your visits for their cheap lunch specials, and only if it's convenient. read more

Favorite chinese takeout in my area. Been ordering from here for years. Love this place.

Now waiting to be boarded at airport, I can spend some time to write the review for some nice restaurants we have had during this Vancouver-Seattle trip. The top one comes this - Main Choice. What a well thought name! We spent 3 days at Vancouver n always yelp for good food at reasonable price. Do not expect any fancy decoration. But you will surely be greeted by the nice waitress there n be served with yummy dishes. I like the fried rice a lot - the right texture w good taste. N the sweet n sour pork was way better than what we have at Bay Area, California. They serve you with real pork meat - not just fat w the coating. Thumbs up! read more

This place looks like a dive , hole in the wall but has become my favorite place to get take out. My hubby and I ordered take out from this place. Over all it was good deal and portions. The BBQ fried rice looks very dark and not as tasty as I thought. I told the lady we have gluten and dairy allergy. She was helpful with our gluten- free& dairy free diet beside complaining in Cantonese to her co-worker that our allergies are troublesome for them ( she thought I don't understand what she is saying in the background ) The Seafood with mix veggies/ fried curry thick noodles with beef and chicken cream corn soup was good! We even have left over for both of us the next day! I will give 3.5 stars read more

This restaurant is absolutely 5 stars! From the food, prices, service and delivery. Flavourful/large portions - egg foo young, honey garlic spareribs and rice noodles. The menu/order form says free delivery within 5km. I live 3.5 km from the restaurant, yet on their website their delivery radius stops 1.5km before my house and won't let me place an order (even for a delivery fee). They'll only deliver in a 2km radius from their location? read more

Really like their food and the lady who owns the restaurant is very nice too.

Ordered delivery. The lady who took our order was very sweet and got everything down very quickly. Delivery was surprisingly fast on a Friday night, and everything came hot. We ordered pork chow mein, chicken fried rice, wonton soup, spring rolls and lemon chicken. It was all tasty but the lemon chicken was delicious. At the end of the day it was good and quick comfort food that I Would order again. read more

The food sounds great the service OK but the website is so bad I almost gave up ordering the food. It's 2018 not 1998. Get with it people l spent some money and get a working website. Ordered delivery from this place for the first time tonight & was not disappointed for the largest part. We got the prawns w/vegetables, beef and broccoli, almond chicken w/lemon sauce, wor wonton, fried rice w/chicken, shrimp, mushrooms & other assorted veggies. The woman taking our order was incredibly nice, professional, friendly & very willing to please. Best customer service I've experienced in quite some time, which was a welcome surprise. Even the delivery man, an older Asian guy, was very nice. Needless to say, he was tipped. Everything arrived nice and hot, packaged very well & more quickly than we were told. We also got the menu we asked for, along with fortune cookies & condiments. It's worth mentioning that we never get fortune cookies from Chinese restaurants in the Central City area. All of the meat, seafood & veggies were incredibly fresh and not at all overcooked. We were quite impressed. Portions of every dish were larger than from other typical Chinese-Canadian restaurants and nothing was oversalted or oily, not even the delicious deep fried almond chicken. Love the fact that they also cut the corners off the takeout boxes for anything that's deep fried to prevent it from getting soggy. Attention to detail always impresses me. This is very crispy almond chicken, thick pieces of it, not the usual type you get from most Chinese places, beaten thinner than a piece of paper with far more batter than chicken. Main Choice makes almond chicken right. The only small negatives were that we would've liked triple the vegetables in the fried rice - we just love vegetables - and the lemon sauce needed a bit more fresh lemon juice added to it, which we did ourselves. Other than that, absolutely no complaints. We've been looking for a good Chinese restaurant close to Central City for over a year, no luck. All we've tried seriously lacked in customer service skills & food quality. Thankfully, Main Choice readily agreed to deliver to us, regardless of the fact that they're in Newton. We'll definitely be stopping in at this place for dinner when we're in the area next time. I'd like to see what the restaurant itself is like. In regards to Chinese delivery in Surrey, this will be the only place we order from in the future. read more

The food was ok, but we ordered from a hotel room and I explicitly asked if they had Pepsi and she said yes, but I received Coke (I realize some people don't care, but many do and it is why I explicitly ask for Pepsi). Then I called back to make sure that they send utensils and plates since we were in a hotel room, she asked for how many and I said 2. They sent 3 forks and no plates or napkins. read more

This place has awesome food, never disappointed , the owner Catherine is a great lady, always happy and friendly

It's not secret that the location set my expectations a bit low considering this chinese restaurant is sandwiched between a few industrial businesses in a fairly hard-to-find and hard-to-access strip. But that's where all the golden food and beverages places are found I find. This place not only had excellent food but, for probably the first time EVER in a Chinese restaurant I got great, friendly and personal attention from the waitress (maybe the owner?). She actually chatted with me! I thought that was against Chinese restaurant 'rules' until I went here. So, here's the low down: great food, cheap prices and great service. Done. You found your winner. Go and thank me later! read more

I absolutely love this place! It's hard to find decent Chinese food that meets my parents' standards without having to drive all the way to Vancouver. This place is a little gem. The service is great, everyone who works here is super friendly and the food is even better. Believe me, for I would not settle for mediocre Chinese food (my parents taught me better). I'd definitely recommend this place! read more

Main Choice Chinese Restaurant - Authentic Hong Kong style Chinese food. Yummy. - Chinese Near Me - Surrey, British Columbia

I moved to Surrey (Newton) from Coquitlam 6 years ago - I have had difficulty finding a decent Chinese take-out restaurant since. Yesterday my two friends and I were celebrating one's birthday, two months later, due to COVID 19. I was left to order and had no idea where to try next - so I followed my gut and read some reviews. Main Choice sounded good. I placed an order when they opened at 4 p.m. and asked if I could pick up at 4:45 p.m. When I arrived, the food had just been packed up and was still hot when I got home. I did mention when I paid for the order that this was my first time and the server said she hoped I wouldn't be disappointed. WELL - I certainly was NOT. I ordered seven dishes and each was extremely GOOD - my friends agreed and we had enough left over for each of us to have dinner tonight! Price was affordable and leftovers still tasted good. I will be going back!!! read more

Ordered food for pick up and thoroughly disappointed. They had an offer for a 10% discount with anything over 25$ which I had to fight for to get. Not sure why they advertised it if I had to convince them ... Worst Chinese food I've had in a while. The sweet and sour pork was in a strange thin limited sauce. The vegetables in the chop suey were literally going bad I had to throw it away. They were almost black wilted and had a sour smell. The rolls were dripping oil. Terrible. The only reason I gave them two stars was because of the decent chow mein. read more
